Homosexual Hook-Up App Grindr Labeled National Security Threat, Forced to Sell

A Chinese gaming company has decided to sell the popular LGBTQ dating app Grindr LLC after a U.S. national security panel declared the app to be a threat to service members, Reuters first reported.

Beijing Kunlun Tech Co Ltd, which has owned the California-based dating app since 2016, decided to sever ties at the behest of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or CFIUS, which pointed to major concerns over personal data of app users — notably military and intelligence personnel — being made publicly available. . .

The decision of CFIUS to intervene in Grindr’s business operations signals increasing doubt on the part of U.S. officials in the ability of Chinese businesses to keep sensitive information of Americans secret.

In recent years, the panel also blocked the sale of the money transfer company MoneyGram to Chinese business owners, the report said. (Read more from “Homosexual Hook-Up App Grindr Labeled National Security Threat, Forced to Sell” HERE)

Christian University Reverses Ban on Same-Sex Relationships, Again

The prominent Christian institution Azusa Pacific University (APU) has once again lifted the ban on allowing public same-sex relationships on campus after reversing its previous decision to lift the ban last year.

According to Christianity Today, the school altered the code of student conduct last week to allow “romanticized” same-sex on campus last week. APU provost Mark Stanton said that while the code has been changed, the school’s values as a Christian university have not changed.

“APU is an open-enrollment institution, which does not require students to be Christian to attend, and the handbook conveys our commitment to treating everyone with Christ-like care and civility,” said Stanton. “Our values are unchanged, and the APU community remains unequivocally biblical in our Christian evangelical identity.”

The code of conduct did not expressly discriminate against LGBTQ individuals and endorsed a hardline stance on general biblical morality by prohibiting premarital sex and other sexual improprieties. Despite that, the LGBT student group Brave Commons worked in concert with the student government to have the ban reversed. Both groups demanded more clarity regarding the types of punishments such individuals would face. . .

In November 2018, APU lifted the ban on same-sex relationships only to reverse the decision soon afterward upon several board members criticizing the school for losing its orthodox principles. Some evangelical supporters of the school fear it has lost its Christian identity. (Read more from “Christian University Reverses Ban on Same-Sex Relationships, Again” HERE)

Troubling: U.S. Pastors Increasingly Accepting Homosexual Marriage

Once news hit that the global United Methodist Church upheld its ban on same-sex marriage and gay clergy, a Methodist pastor in North Carolina promised to fight back against the ruling until it’s reversed.

“Let us not rest until all people can be welcome to worship God in any space that they choose,” the Rev. Jason Butler with Open Table Methodist Church in Raleigh said, WNCN-TV reported. “That is what we will fight for.” . . .

Butler told WNCN that when he heard about the ruling, he “was just broken. I felt almost sick inside because I knew that for so many of our LGBTQ friends this was yet another voice, another church saying that we close our doors.”

Depris Price noted to WNCN that he’s acquainted with adversity as an openly gay black man and was taught from childhood that it was a sin to be himself.

“It was the untouched subject,” Price told the station. “You did not talk about this, and even if you did, it was only during like Sunday school, and you just said it’s wrong to be homosexual. There was no reasoning, there was no explanation.” (Read more from “Troubling: U.S. Pastors Increasingly Accepting Homosexual Marriage” HERE)

Now GLAAD Wants 10 Percent of Characters on TV to Be Gay

When will GLAAD ever be satisfied? Following a report showing that broadcast TV has a record number of LGBT characters, the formerly named Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is still saying Hollywood needs to do better.

Though the study released on Thursday showed that 8.8% of characters on TV are LGBT, a full 4 points above the 4.5% of LGBT individuals in the U.S. population, GLAAD demands that Hollywood up that number to as high as 10% by 2020.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis met with several industry insiders to discuss ways for networks to further increase LGBT representation on screen even though numbers show they are, in fact, quite overrepresented.

The event, held at United Talent Agency’s headquarters in Beverly Hills, featured people like Greg Berlanti (executive producer on “Arrow” and “The Flash”) and even the senior VP product leadership at Nielsen, Brian Fuhrer, who announced the company’s plan to partner with GLAAD to “expand Nielsen’s national survey to include same-gender couples.” . . .

GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis said that the partnership with Nielsen happened during the Trump administration because the 2020 census did not count LGBTQ households. “Since this current administration has taken power over, they’ve since erased us from the 2020 census, so we’ve had to build these workarounds,” Ellis said. Flag-Burning Priest in Hiding to Avoid Being Committed, ‘Tarred and Feathered’

The Catholic priest removed from an Avondale church last weekend after burning an LGBTQ-friendly flag said in an interview published Wednesday that he has gone into hiding to avoid being committed to a mental institution by Archdiocese of Chicago leaders.

In his first public comments since Cardinal Blase Cupich removed him as pastor of Resurrection Catholic Church — recorded at an “undisclosed location” — the Rev. Paul Kalchik told the conservative Catholic news website Church Militant that Cupich dispatched two of his top deputies last Friday to take him away from the church at 3043 N. Francisco.

“[They said] ‘Pack your bags now and we’ll make certain that you get to St. Luke’s safely and get locked up for a number of months,’ ” Kalchik said, referring to the Saint Luke Institute, a mental-health facility in Maryland for the clergy.

When Kalchik refused to leave, he says the two deputies — Cupich’s vicars for priests — threatened to call the police to have him “forcibly removed.”

“And I don’t know how that would have played out, because we already had all these volunteer policemen there to make certain I wouldn’t be tarred and feathered by the rabid homosexualists of the North Side of Chicago, you know, who are [sending me] death threats,” Kalchik said. Professor Calls for Christian University President to Resign for Allowing LGBT Relationships

Azusa Pacific University, a Christian institution, has lifted its ban on LGBT relationships in its code of conduct. But the decision comes after years of previous resistance, and the school is now facing pushback over the change — particularly from one professor who says it’s now time for APU’s president to go. . .

Last week, APU’s student-run ZU Media announced that effective this fall semester, the school was dropping language from its code of conduct in order to allow “romanticized” same-sex relationships on campus.

ZU Media reported that the dialogue over the changes were prompted when student members of an underground LGBT group called Haven approached administrators about being recognized as a campus organization.

Haven was assisted in its efforts by the outside organization Brave Commons, which describes itself as “a bold and subversive Christian movement of intersectional queer glory: healing and working towards robust justice for all.”

According to Christianity Today, part of the code that was scrapped included “an eight-point statement on human sexuality that had declared: ‘homosexual acts’ (among others) are ‘expressly forbidden’ by Scripture; ‘heterosexuality is God’s design for sexually intimate relationships’; and ‘humans were created as gendered beings’ in order to be fruitful and multiply.” (Read more from “Professor Calls for Christian University President to Resign for Allowing LGBT Relationships” HERE)

Sesame Street Creators Answer Question About Bert and Ernie Being Gay. The Left Isn’t Happy

A decades-old controversy received additional fuel this week when a former “Sesame Street” writer confirmed he felt Bert and Ernie represented a same-sex couple on the children’s puppet show when he wrote them.

After Mark Saltzman’s remarks were published by Queerty, the show’s production company issued a statement once again asserting that the show’s puppet characters “do not have a sexual orientation” and were intended to represent a platonic relationship.

“As we have always said, Bert and Ernie are best friends,” Sesame Workshop wrote. “They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves.”

Frank Oz, an early collaborator on the show and a creator of Bert and Ernie, also weighed in to deny the puppets were meant to be gay.

“It seems Mr. Mark Saltzman was asked if Bert & Ernie are gay,” he tweeted. “It’s fine that he feels they are. They’re not, of course. But why that question? Does it really matter? Why the need to define people as only gay? There’s much more to a human being than just straightness or gayness.”

The comment earned widespread criticism among those who felt an identifiable same-sex couple on the show would be an important step toward inclusion.

Oz responded directly to many of those critics, offering his defense of maintaining the friendship Bert and Ernie were originally created to reflect.

As of Tuesday evening, the tweet containing Sesame Workshop’s original statement had been replaced by an update.

“Sesame Street has always stood for inclusion and acceptance,” the company wrote. “It’s a place where people of all cultures and backgrounds are welcome. Bert and Ernie were created to be best friends, and to teach young children that people can get along with those who are very different from themselves.”

That statement earned some praise from those who felt the original statement was insufficiently inclusive.

Oz has continued to tweet on the topic, offering some additional context and revealing that he has learned some important lessons after hearing from those offended by his tone.

“Although it doesn’t matter to me if someone is gay or viewed as gay, I learned it does matter to a great many people who feel they are not represented enough,” Oz wrote. “The Tweet discussion was worth it for me to just learn that.” (For more from the author of “Sesame Street Creators Answer Question About Bert and Ernie Being Gay. This Cake Baker Won at the Supreme Court. Now the State Is Trying to Get Revenge

Masterpiece Cakeshop’s Jack Phillips, who won a Supreme Court case in June, is once again being harangued by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission for refusing to bake a cake with a pro-LGBTQ message. Alliance Defending Freedom filed a federal lawsuit late Tuesday night against the commission on his behalf, over the state’s second attempt to compel him to bake a cake with a message that violates his religious beliefs.

Two months ago, the Supreme Court ruled that Phillips ought not to have been forced to bake a cake with a pro-LGBT message for a same-sex couple’s wedding, because the court found that the commission was overtly hostile to the baker’s religious beliefs.

Now, the commission is once again going after Phillips, this time to compel him to bake a cake celebrating a “gender transition.”

On June 26, 2017 — the same day the Supreme Court announced it would take up the cake baking case — an attorney, who is identified in the court filings as Autumn Scardina, asked Phillips to bake a cake that is blue on the outside and pink on the inside to celebrate his decision to live as if he were a woman. When Phillips declined, Scardina filed a complaint with the commission that July, alleging that he was unlawfully discriminated against.

Just weeks after Philip’s victory at the Supreme Court, the commission issued a probable cause determination, stating that there was enough evidence to back up Scardina’s claim that Phillips had broken the law by declining the order for the custom cake. Disgusting: Pro-Gay Church Plans to Build Worship Space/Brewery, Donate Profits to Planned Parenthood

A building in Santa Cruz, Calif., is being converted into a worship space and public brewery by a pro-gay church that plans to donate some of its beer proceeds to Planned Parenthood, according to reports.

Members of the Greater Purpose Community Church now meet on Sundays at a food lounge to pray, listen and drink beer, KNTV reports. . .

“A church that serves beer and gives the profits away to places like Planned Parenthood is really exciting to me,” the pastor told the paper. . .

The pastor told KNTV that holding services at the food lounge gave him the idea for the brewery.

“I thought to myself, ‘wouldn’t it be great if a church could figure out a way to make a product where they split the profits with local community service organizations?’ We were like ‘hey, we love beer, we love making beer, why not do a brewery?'” he said. First Academy Football Player Declares He’s Homosexual; Military in Complete Support; But Does He Shower Separately?

Bradley Kim, a defensive back at the Air Force Academy, announced on Friday that he is gay. Kim, who shared his story on his Instagram account and through an interview with OutSports, is the first active player at a service academy to publicly come out.

“The biggest reason I want to share this is to be able to reach people who are in similar situations struggling with the same things I have struggled with,” Kim told OutSports. “I want to be that example for kids that you can be gay, you can pursue your dreams, and you can have an athletic career. . .

Jeremiah 29:11🙏🏽 God made me this way for a reason. I did not think this day would ever come, but I’ve finally reached the point where I am comfortable and confident enough with myself to say that I am gay. It’s been a long road to get to this point and I definitely would not be here without the love and support of my amazing family, teammates and coaches here at the academy, and my equally amazing friends. I feel blessed to have such receptive and understanding people in my life. I hope that I can serve as an example to those who are allowing their fear of acceptance to change who they are. I almost gave up my dream of playing division 1 football for fear of not being accepted by everyone, but today I am happy to say that I am a cadet at the Air Force Academy playing the sport I love with amazing people standing behind me and supporting me. If anyone feels like they don’t have a voice or feel like they are alone, just know there are plenty of people out there like you and me, and more that are willing to talk to you about it. God bless all and thank you to everyone who has made me feel comfortable to live my most genuine life.🙏🏽 Twitter/Instagram: @bradleykkim [email protected]

Before going public with his story, Kim, a safety for the Falcons, informed his fellow defensive backs and received a standing ovation in response.

According to OutSports, Kim had previously come out to his parents and various other Air Force teammates and coaches, all to responses of complete support. The Air Force Academy provided a statement to the Colorado Springs Gazette that said, “The academy strives to foster a culture where everyone gives and receives dignity and respect so that each individual has the opportunity to fulfill their potential.” (Read more from “First Academy Football Player Declares He’s Homosexual; Military in Complete Support; But Does He Shower Separately?” HERE)
