‘60 Minutes’ Asks Harris Whether It Was a ‘Mistake’ for Biden Admin To Go Soft on Border, VP Repeatedly Dodges

Vice President Kamala Harris was pressed by CBS News’ Bill Whitaker about whether it was a “mistake” for the Biden administration to go soft on its border policies during a tense exchange on Monday’s special election episode of “60 Minutes.”

“You recently visited the southern border and embraced President Biden’s recent crackdown on asylum seekers, and that crackdown produced an almost immediate and dramatic decrease in the number of border crossings,” Whitaker said. “If that’s the right answer now, why didn’t your administration take those steps in 2021?”

“The first bill we proposed to Congress was to fix our broken immigration system, knowing that if you want to actually fix it, we need Congress to act. It was not taken up,” Harris responded. “Fast forward to a moment when a bipartisan group of members of the United States Senate, including one of the most conservative members of the United States Senate, got together, came up with a border security bill.

“Well, guess what happened? Donald Trump got word that this bill was afoot and could be passed, and he wants to run on a problem instead of fixing a problem. So he told his buddies in Congress, ‘Kill the bill, don’t let it move forward.'”

“I’ve been covering the border for years, and so I know this is not a problem that started with your administration,” Whitaker said. “But there was an historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration. As a matter of fact, arrivals quadrupled from the last year of President Trump.”

Gang That Grew Out of Venezuelan Prisons Fueling U.S. Crime Wave

Two cops shot in New York City. A jogger beaten to death in Georgia. A Texas hotel taken over by armed criminals.

The common thread in a sprawling nationwide web of violence, according to law enforcement officials, is a ruthless Venezuelan prison gang exporting its drug-weapon-human-trafficking operations north to U.S. cities.

But the gang’s leaders have largely eluded any effort to bring them to justice in the U.S., according to analysts who have studied Tren de Aragua, or TDA, as the gang is commonly known.

TDA’s secretive hierarchy has helped its crime bosses stay steps ahead of U.S. authorities, said Gregg Etter, a University of Central Missouri criminologist who has written extensively about the gang.

More than 150 TDA members have been arrested at the border, and dozens more inside the U.S., the past two years. But thanks to the group’s decentralized chain of command, police are mainly capturing low-level gang members, Mr. Etter told The Washington Times. IG Report: DHS Admitting Noncitizens Without ID May ‘Increase National Security Risks’

Federal agencies tasked with protecting U.S. borders have allowed illegal border crossers to enter the United States without adequate vetting and board domestic flights, a new Department of Homeland Security inspector general report found.

The 37-page document published on September 30 may be heavily redacted, but it paints a clear picture of the “potential risk” posed to Americans thanks to the willingness of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Transportation Security Agency to admit noncitizens without ID into the country.

“Under current processes, CBP and ICE cannot ensure they are keeping high-risk noncitizens without identification from entering the country. Additionally, TSA cannot ensure its vetting and screening procedures prevent high-risk noncitizens who may pose a threat to the flying public from boarding domestic flights,” the report states.

Federal law deems noncitizens without ID “not admissible into the country” and potentially “subject … to removal from the United States without further hearing or review.” According to Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari, however, CBP and ICE routinely use the law’s asylum and humanitarian exceptions to offer documentation to noncitizens without ID based solely on “self-reported biographical information.”

Neither agency, the report warned, “could determine how many of the millions of noncitizens seeking entry in the United States each year entered without identification and whose self-reported biographic information was accepted.” (Read more from “IG Report: DHS Admitting Noncitizens Without ID May ‘Increase National Security Risks’” HERE)

Oops! Arizona Discovers An Additional 120K Registered Voters Lacking Proof Of Citizenship

Arizona’s Democrat elections chief announced on Monday that the state has found 120,000 additional registered voters lacking documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC), bringing the estimated total of such voters to 218,000.

“Today, the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office released additional information about a new set of approximately 120,000 Arizonans who may be affected by a data coding oversight within [Arizona Department of Transporation’s] Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) and Arizona voter registration databases — individuals who have lived in the state for decades and have attested under penalty of perjury that they are U.S. citizens,” the office of Democrat Secretary of State Adrian Fontes revealed in a press release.

As my colleague Brianna Lyman previously reported, the issue originally came to light last month when state officials revealed they “found approximately 97,000 voters who are currently listed as full-ballot voters despite having not fulfilled the requirement to provide documentary proof of citizenship to vote in statewide elections.” The error appears to have resulted “from the way the Motor Vehicle Division provides driver’s license information to the state’s voter registration system,” according to left-wing Votebeat Arizona.

Fontes said most of the affected voters are registered Republicans, according to the outlet.

In Arizona, voters registering via state registration form must show documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) to vote in state and local races. Individuals who are unable to provide such documentation are registered as “federal-only” voters and can only cast ballots in federal races. (Read more from “Oops! Woman Admits to Drugging Migrant Kids With Melatonin Gummies as Part of Child-Trafficking Ring: ‘We Knocked Her Out’

A Texas woman has confessed to drugging young girls with melatonin gummies while trafficking them into the US — just as border agents are warning that kids are being smuggled through similar means all across the southern border.

Vanessa Valadez, 23, of Laredo, pleaded guilty Friday to working with family members to smuggle children under the age of 5 into the country from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, between August and September 2023.

“La noquiamos con unas gomitas,” one of Valdez’s co-conspirators wrote in a message alongside an image of a passed out girl during one operation — which translates to “we knocked her out with some gummies.”

Valdez and her family smuggled at least four young girls into the country, according to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), picking them up from a stash house across the border and drugging them before using phony birth certificates to try to pass them off as family members.

After Laredo, the girls were taken deeper into the US and left with unknown people for unknown purposes. (Read more from “Woman Admits to Drugging Migrant Kids With Melatonin Gummies as Part of Child-Trafficking Ring: ‘We Knocked Her Out’ HERE)

Fed Chair Jerome Powell Blames Influx of Illegal Aliens for Rising Unemployment Rate

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell blamed the migrant crisis for the nation’s growing unemployment after cutting the benchmark interest rate by 0.5 percentage point on Wednesday for the first time since early days of COVID-19.

“If you’re having millions of people come into the labor force, then — and you’re creating 100,000 jobs — you’re going to see unemployment go up,” Powell told reporters, answering a question about the nation’s current monthly job creation.

“So it really depends on what’s the trend underlying the volatility of people coming into the country.”

“We understand there’s been quite an influx across the borders, and that has actually been one of the things that’s allowed the unemployment to rise,” he said, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“And the other thing is just the slower hiring rate, which is something we also watch carefully. So it does depend on what’s happening on the supply side.” (Read more from “Fed Chair Jerome Powell Blames Influx of Illegal Aliens for Rising Unemployment Rate” HERE)

Shoplifting and Vehicle Thefts Soared as Haitian Migrants Poured Into Ohio Town, Police Data Shows

Reports of shoplifting and vehicle theft increased considerably in Springfield, Ohio, following the arrival of thousands of Haitian refugees, according to data obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation through a records request.

The town, which had a population of 58,622 in 2020, has taken in between 12,000 and 20,000 Haitian refugees over the past three years, marking a population increase of between 20.4% and 34.1%. From 2021 to 2023, Springfield also saw a 51.5% jump in motor vehicle theft reports and a 112.8% spike in reports of shoplifting, data provided by the Springfield Police Division shows.

Springfield residents previously told the DCNF that the influx of Haitians has resulted in an uptick in car accidents, increased housing prices and strained public services. Bryan Heck, Springfield’s city manager, sent a letter to Democratic Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance and Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott in July requesting federal assistance to deal with the pressure migrants had placed on the housing supply.

Inhabitants of the town also told the DCNF that they had observed Haitians engaging in sex acts and other vices in public. The DCNF was unable to verify claims made by the town’s residents about Haitians engaging in public debauchery. Democrats’ Immigration Crisis Pushes Ohioans To The Breaking Point: ‘Who’s Protecting Us?’

Springfield, Ohio is a blue-collar town of roughly 60,000 residents with a story that’s familiar to dozens of Rust Belt communities across the Midwest that have been transformed by job loss, opioids, and now, open migration.

Schuler’s Bakery greets visitors on the south side of town, not far from the interstate, as a relic of resilience having withstood the challenges faced by a declining economy for decades. Founded in 1937, the local sweet spot can now be found in two locations offering customers the kinds of cakes and pastries that define the small-town memories carried for generations long after residents have left.

The donuts are so rich they can make the teeth ache, but the sugar high is immediately crashed when confronted with the image of a town forever changed by the flood of more than 20,000 Haitian migrants. The horizon from the bakery’s front door introduces visitors to a dilapidated community now presented with traffic hazards as Haitians crowd the streets and parking lots of a Rust Belt community turned into Little Haiti.

“They don’t know how to drive,” a local tow truck driver on the southwest side told The Federalist. “They don’t know how to go by our rules.”

The tow truck operator named David declined to offer a last name out of fear of reprisal to his business, but he made clear that the influx of newcomers has brought more havoc than money to the depressed blue-collar community that was already struggling. Influx of Wild-Driving Haitian Migrants Turning Streets of Springfield, Ohio Into Combat Zone: ‘Eight to 10 Accidents a Day Here’

Forget about the ducks and geese allegedly disappearing from public parks. In this beleaguered city, residents say the biggest problem, by far, is that wild-driving Haitian migrants — unfamiliar with US road laws — are turning the streets into combat zones.

And the result can be deadly. The family of Springfield grandma Kathy Heaton experienced this firsthand on Dec. 1 — a day after her 71st birthday — when a Haitian migrant ran her down while she was collecting her garbage cans.

And the driver got off scot-free. . .

Kathy was struck so violently that both her socks were left behind on the pavement as her body was thrown across the street. Debris littered the roadway, and clumps of hair were found in the car’s cracked windshield, according to the police report.

But three days later, prosecutors decided that the driver of the car that hit her – 38-year-old Robenson Louis – wouldn’t face charges, even though Mandy said he was driving with expired license plates. Reports Confirm Haitian Migrants are Eating Geese, Cats

Springfield, Ohio, a city not typically in the national spotlight, has found itself at the center of a heated immigration debate. The city has recently seen an influx of Haitian migrants, sparking a media firestorm over unusual reports involving local wildlife.

The core of the controversy stems from claims that some Haitian migrants in Springfield have been consuming local wildlife, including geese and ducks. A recording obtained by The Federalist captures a local resident’s call to 911 from late August, reporting a group of Haitian migrants carrying four geese. The caller, who was on a tight schedule for a job orientation, noted that each migrant was holding a goose.

“I’m sitting here, I’m riding on the trail, I’m going to my orientation for my job today, and I see a group of Haitian people, there was about four of ’em, they all had geese in their hand,” the caller told the dispatcher. The dispatcher’s questions and the caller’s responses confirm the presence of the geese but stop short of confirming what was done with them.

This incident aligns with earlier reports from August, which have added fuel to the debate. While local law enforcement has yet to substantiate claims of pet consumption, the reports of geese and ducks being consumed are supported by 911 recordings and police reports, lending them a degree of credibility.

Liberal media outlets, including CNN, and Democratic politicians like Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) have vehemently dismissed these reports as misinformation. They argue that the claims have been debunked, despite the evidence pointing to real concerns among Springfield residents. CNN and other outlets have labeled the reports as baseless, but the growing scrutiny suggests that these claims are being taken more seriously than initially portrayed.
