Uh-Oh: It’s Not Looking Good for Keith Ellison in Minnesota

Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison is running for Attorney General of Minnesota, but it no longer appears he’ll sail to victory, in part thanks to allegations of domestic abuse that have surfaced in recent weeks.

As Democrats urged Americans to “believe all women” during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, they were quietly trying to ignore allegations that Ellison had abused his longtime girlfriend (and possibly his ex-wife).

The oversight has led to questions about whether the Democratic Party — and, in particular, Minnesota’s state party — is really interested in fully investigating allegations of sexual assault and “believing all women” who suggest they may have been physically abused.

Last month, The Hill reports, Ellison was running five points ahead of his Republican challenger, Minnesota state Rep. Doug Wardlow. . .

The allegations against Ellison surfaced in a Facebook post published over the summer by the son of Ellison’s former girlfriend. Recently, outside sources close to the woman suggest she has evidence in the form of photos and videos but hasn’t brought the information forward to police. The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party says they conducted an investigation into the matter but that they could not substantiate the claims of abuse. Police Won’t Investigate Domestic Violence Allegations Against Keith Ellison. Here’s Why.

By Townhall. On Wednesday, the Minneapolis Police Department said they would not investigate domestic violence allegations against Rep. Keith Ellison, who also serves as the Democratic National Committee’s deputy chair. MPD said they won’t conduct an investigation due to a conflict of interest, or the appearances of a conflict of interest, the Associated Press reported.

Minnesota Democratic officials asked MPD to conduct an investigation into allegations made by Ellison’s ex-girlfriend, Karen Monahan, after their attorney found her claims to be unsubstantiated. . .

Ellison allegedly called Monahan a “f–king b–ch” and dragged her off a bed by her feet. The allegations were thrown into the public eye when Monahan’s son posted on Facebook detailing what he had witnessed and evidence he found on his mother’s computer. Citing Conflict, Minneapolis Police Won’t Look Into Claim Against Keith Ellison

By Star Tribune. The DFL Party’s attempt to find a law enforcement agency willing to investigate a domestic abuse claim against U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison was mired in uncertainty Wednesday, after the Minneapolis Police Department said it would seek to refer the case to another jurisdiction.

Earlier Wednesday, the DFL asked Minneapolis police to investigate after both a city attorney and a county prosecutor declined to review a report the party commissioned that did not substantiate the allegation. . .

“Due to a conflict of interest, or the appearance of a conflict of interest, the Minneapolis Police Department will not be handling the matter involving Congressman Keith Ellison,” read a police statement. It said the department is in communication with other law enforcement agencies to which it may refer the case. Ellison’s son, Jeremiah Ellison, is a member of the Minneapolis City Council. Look Who’s Running the ‘Independent’ Keith Ellison Investigation

By The Daily Caller. Minnesota Democrats’ self-described “independent” investigation into domestic abuse allegations against Rep. Keith Ellison is being handled by the party attorney’s legal partner.

Ellison, the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee and nominee for Minnesota attorney general, is accused of physically and emotionally abusing his ex-girlfriend, liberal Sierra Club activist Karen Monahan. Ellison has repeatedly denied Monahan’s accusations.

Minneapolis lawyer Susan Ellingstad took over the Ellison investigation from the state party’s attorney following Ellison’s primary victory in August, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chairman Ken Martin told the AP they hired Ellingstad to make sure the investigation “wouldn’t be colored by people with associations with the party.”

Ellingstad is a legal partner with the state party’s attorney, Charlie Nauen, who the AP reported handled the early stages of the investigation. Ellingstad and Nauen are partners at Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P., which bears the DFL attorney’s name. (Read more from “Look Who’s Running the ‘Independent’ Keith Ellison Investigation” HERE)

Star Tribune Sues to Unseal U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison’s Divorce Records

By Star Tribune. The Star Tribune has joined a legal effort to unseal the divorce records of U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, the Democratic candidate for attorney general.

Ellison and his ex-wife, Kim Ellison, divorced in 2012. The related records have been sealed, so the public cannot access the information.

The Star Tribune’s motion to intervene and unseal the records follows a similar action by Alpha News, a right-leaning online news and opinion site.

The efforts follow allegations by Ellison’s ex-girlfriend, Karen Monahan, that Ellison domestically abused her in 2016. He has denied the allegation repeatedly, and Monahan has continued to press her case in frequent tweets about Ellison.

On Sunday, Monahan tweeted to Ellison: “This is not going away and you are making it worse for you, your family and district by lying, smearing, getting others to do your dirty work, victim shaming, etc.” She referred again to a video she says she has of Ellison dragging her off a bed, which he has said did not happen. She has declined to show the video, saying it is traumatizing. She also told CNN she misplaced it. Monahan also recently released a medical record that shows she told a doctor in 2017 that she had been in an abusive relationship with Ellison. (Read more from “Star Tribune Sues to Unseal U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison Hit With Chilling Domestic Abuse Claims

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) has been accused of domestic violence by the family of a former girlfriend, Karen Monahan. Monahan’s son, Austin, described the relationship as being “pure hell” for his mother. In a Facebook post written on behalf of him and his brother, Austin says he found video evidence on his mom’s computer last year of Ellison dragging her by her feet from a bed, calling her a “f***ing b**ch” and threatening her. Austin also found over 100 texts between the two with Ellison begging her to come back to him. . .

Ellison is currently running for Minnesota attorney general. These allegations surfaced just a few days before Tuesday’s primary. State Rep. Debra Hilstrom, who also is running for the Democratic nomination, shared the Facebook post and demanded her opponent respond to the charges. . .

“I still care deeply for her well-being,” Ellison wrote of Monahan. “This video does not exist because I never behaved in this way, and any characterization otherwise is false.”

Ellison has represented Minnesota in Congress for six terms and is currently serving as the deputy chair of the DNC.

Hypocrisy Alert: CNN Reporter Angers Rep. Ellison Over Question About His Past Ties to Nation of Islam

The Supreme Court has ruled that the Trump administration’s executive order limiting immigration from terror-prone nations was constitutional. You lose again, liberals. Yet, for Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MI), the soon to be former deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee and candidate for Minnesota Attorney General, it was a dark day for the country, of course (via The Hill):

Today’s decision undermines the core value of religious tolerance on which America was founded. I am deeply disappointed that this ruling gives legitimacy to discrimination and Islamaphobia,” Ellison, who is one of the only two sitting Muslim members of Congress, said in a statement.

Ellison went on to compare the decision to the Korematsu decision in 1944 that allowed Japanese internment camps, as well as the Plessy v. Ferguson decision in 1896, upholding segregation laws in public facilities.

“Today’s ruling is unjust. Like the Korematsu decision that upheld Japanese internment camps or Plessy v. Ferguson that established ‘separate but equal,’ this decision will someday serve as a marker of shame,” Ellison said.

The Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision to uphold Trump’s travel ban, saying the president has broad discretion to suspend the entry of aliens into the U.S.

Rep. Keith Ellison — Friend to Islamic Radicals and Jew-Haters — Narrowly Misses DNC Chairmanship Win

Congressman Keith Ellison, D-Minn. (F, 26%), a man known for his ties to noted anti-Semites and radical Islamic groups, came dangerously close to winning the election for DNC chairman Saturday afternoon.

In the second round of voting, Ellison received 200 (46%) of the 435 votes cast, narrowly losing to Tom Perez, secretary of labor under former President Obama. Ellison appeared to be the favorite to win the chairmanship. A survey published in The Hill this week showed that Ellison held a 2 to 1 edge over Perez. Following Perez’ win, Ellison was appointed deputy chair of the DNC.

Ellison, who has paid homage to Malcolm X by previously writing under the pen name Keith “X” Ellison, almost beat out seven other candidates to win the party chairmanship.

Prominent Democratic leaders, such as philanthropist Haim Saban and Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, have described Ellison as personally anti-Semitic. Dershowitz even threatened to quit the party if Ellison had won.

The Minnesota congressman has deep ties to extremist groups.

Ellison has been tied to the Nation of Islam, and once supported its virulently anti-Semitic founder, Louis Farrakhan. CNN found that Ellison was involved in the Nation of Islam for about a decade between the 80s and 90s. During that time, while in law school, Ellison aligned with anti-Semitic campaigners and Holocaust deniers, often taking to the press to defend them. He often came to Farrakhan’s defense, claiming Farrakhan was no anti-Semite. However, Farrakhan, has previously insisted that Judaism is a “gutter religion,” and blames Jews for the African slave trade.

Moving forward into the 21st century, Ellison has showed immense disrespect for the office of the presidency, engaging in vast conspiracies surrounding the 9/11 attacks. In 2007, he described former President George W. Bush as a Hitler-like figure, suspecting that 9/11 was an inside job.

From 2009 up until present day, Ellison has engaged with several figures who are close to the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.

In 2009, he met with a man described by the FBI as a fundraiser for Hamas.

Throughout the years, Ellison often has spoken at fundraisers hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which has been profiled by the Department of Justice as a Hamas-related organization. Additionally, CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror-financing trial in American history, and is banned as a terror group in the United Arab Emirates.

Just a couple months back, Ellison was set to speak at a radical Islamic conference, rife with extremist individuals. A small sample of the individuals he was set to join includes: an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, supporters of terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah, and an advocate for suicide bombings against Jews and the death penalty for homosexuals. Ellison pulled out of the conference at the last moment after Conservative Review and other news sites exposed his expected attendance at the radical Islamic Chicago conference.

Ellison has long been militantly opposed to the State of Israel, until lately, as he has softened his tone on the Jewish state. As recently as 2014, however, Ellison was calling for the United States to withdraw its military support for Israel while it was in the midst of a war with the Palestinian terror group Hamas.

The Democratic Party, which already has major issues engaging with the vast majority of Americans, dodged a bullet Saturday. The DNC almost elected their most radical chairman since the party’s days as a segregationist institution.

DNC Hopeful Keith Ellison to Rub Elbows with Radicals at Islamic Confab

Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn. (F, 26%), the frontrunner to become the next chair of the Democratic National Committee, is set to speak at an event next week that is being described as a “rogue’s gallery of the Islamist world.” He will be joined by a plethora of speakers who have espoused dangerous views and engaged directly with jihadist organizations.

The Muslim American Society (MAS) and Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) are co-hosting the “American Muslims Islamic Duties and Civic Obligations” convention in Chicago next week. And Ellison is scheduled to be a featured guest speaker Tuesday night.

Federal prosecutors have described MAS — which paid for Ellison’s hajj to Mecca — as an “overt arm” of the Muslim Brotherhood. ICNA, for its part, advocates for a global Islamic caliphate ruled by sharia law.

On his own, the Minnesota congressman has a history of menacing commentary and associations, most evident by his attendance at gatherings of fringe Islamic groups. Moreover, Rep. Ellison has likened the 9/11 attacks to a false-flag event, and once compared George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler.

But enough about Ellison for now. Take a look at the company he keeps. Many of the speakers who will share the MAS-ICNA podium with him consist of a who’s who of radicals.

Kyle Shideler, director of the Threat Information Office at the Center for Security Policy, told Conservative Review that Ellison will be accompanied by a “treasure trove of bad guys.”

There’s Siraj Wahhaj, who was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Wahhaj has advocated for the establishment of an Islamic state inside the United States.

Also at the event will be Nihad Awad, founder and director of the Muslim Brotherhood-founded Council on American Islamic Relations. Awad has declared that he is “in support of the Hamas movement,” a U.S.-designated terrorist organization that rules the Gaza Strip.

Additionally on the speakers list is Mohammad Qatanani, an imam from New Jersey with suspected Hamas ties and who federal officials have continually sought to deport.

There is Mohammed Ratib Al-Nabulsi, a Syrian sheikh who once declared that “all the Jewish people are combatants,” and, as such, justifiable targets for suicide bombings. He’s also called for the death penalty for homosexuals.

Jamal Badawi, a founding member of MAS and a former Muslim Brotherhood official, is listed as a speaker. At a 2006 conference, he declared that Islamic suicide bombers were “freedom fighters” against oppression.

Linda Sarsour, a supporter of the terror-tied BDS movement against the Jewish state of Israel, will also deliver remarks.

Imam Suhaib Webb of the Islamic Society of Boston will also be in attendance. Webb, once a close friend of deceased al Qaeda mastermind Anwar al-Awlaki, presides over a congregation that has drawn over a dozen suspected or convicted terrorists

Then there’s Mazen Mokhtar, who was identified in a July 2004 affidavit as someone who solicited financing for the Taliban and Chechen mujahideen. The indictment against him, however, was later dismissed and he is now the director of the MAS New Jersey chapter.

Khalil Meek, once a spokesman for the Holy Land Foundation — a now-defunct group that was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror financing case in American history — will also speak at the conference.

“The fact is, Rep. Keith Ellison will be attending an event with a veritable rogue’s gallery of the Islamist world,” the Center for Security Policy’s Kyle Shideler told CR. “MAS-ICNA is proudly advertising speakers who have endorsed suicide bombings, called homosexuality a ‘repugnant disease,’ multiple unindicted co-conspirators for terrorism cases, and an imam the DHS is actively attempting to deport for Hamas ties.”

Steven Emerson, founder of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, told Conservative Review:

“Both MAS and ICNA are radical Islamist groups which were derived from the Muslim Brotherhood. For years, both groups have openly issued incendiary statements defending terrorist groups, have had officials from their groups openly linked to terrorist groups, and year after year featured openly radical Islamic fundamentalists as the primary speakers at their conferences.”

By appearing at the Islamic supremacist MAS-ICNA conference, Rep. Keith Ellison does no favors for his campaign to mainstream his candidacy to the Democratic Party at large. (For more from the author of “DNC Hopeful Keith Ellison to Rub Elbows with Radicals at Islamic Confab” please click HERE)

Ellison’s Bid to Lead DNC Complicated by Calls to Relinquish House Seat

Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison remains the frontrunner to take over the beleaguered Democratic National Committee but is facing growing questions not only about his controversial past but whether he can effectively lead the group without relinquishing his House seat.

The call for a full-time DNC leader — and for Ellison to step down from the House if he gets the job — is being led by former committee Chairman Howard Dean, who last week ended his bid to return to the post.

Dean made the announcement before a gathering in Denver of Democratic state party leaders, after which Ellison purportedly said with mixed emotions that he is considering leaving Congress to devote his full attention to the DNC.

Dean made clear he considers Ellison’s exit from Congress a requirement. He afterward told MSNBC, “I do not support Keith as long as he has his congressional seat. I do not believe you can do this job and another job in Congress. I don’t support Keith. Maybe I will later.”

The other remaining DNC candidates are Ray Buckley and Jamie Harrison, the chairmen, respectively, of the New Hampshire and South Carolina state Democratic parties. (Read more from “Ellison’s Bid to Lead DNC Complicated by Calls to Relinquish House Seat” HERE)

Congressman Ellison Calls Opponent Chris Fields ‘Lowlife Scumbag’ During Debate

Congressman Keith Ellison is no stranger to controversy or harsh words, having faced years of unfounded accusations over his religious faith. However, during Ellison’s recent debate with Chris Fields, he exceeded all bounds of good taste, calling his opponent a “lowlife scumbag.”

Fields is campaigning for the Congressional seat the progressive Minnesota Democrat has held since 2007. There is a wide political gulf between the two men, with ultra liberal Ellison strongly supporting President Obama’s policies and Fields saying he will to return America to conservative values, oppose abortion and repeal Obama Care.

The uproar began when Mr. Fields accused Ellison of hiring a Washington, D.C. based research firm to smear him. An article in The Minneapolis Star Tribune claimed Field’s ex-wife requested a restraining order against her husband in 2006 and Fields insisted the Congressman was the source. Ellison took offense to the accusation and replied to the comment by saying, “You’re really stupid. You’re a scumbag. You’re a lowlife scumbag. You are a gutter dweller.”

The mood in the room was poisoned from the start, with Ellison saying on several occasions, “You lie all the time! You have no respect for the truth, anything you say is suspect.” At one point, Ellison claimed his opponent failed to pay his campaign vendors, and during an argument over taxes, the Congressman angrily shouted, ”That’s ridiculous, that’s another bold-faced lie. It amazes me that you could sit here with a straight face. I’m not going to deal with you because you’re just silly–really.”

Instead of taking the high ground after the “scumbag” remark, Fields brought up Mr. Ellison’s divorce and suggested the Congressman was not making his child support payments. The two men appeared to be on the verge of blows, when Ellison exclaimed, ”My daughter is in the next room. I’m using a lot of self-control right now, sir.” Fortunately, the moderator called for a break, and when the debate resumed, the questions were directed to the less provocative subject of Climate Change.
