Never-Trump Lincoln Project ‘Should Be Reformed or Shut Down,’ Founder Says

Political strategist Steve Schmidt took to Twitter Wednesday to blast disgraced never-Trump advocacy group the Lincoln Project, an organization he co-founded in 2019.

Schmidt stepped down from leadership at the Lincoln Project after reports surfaced that co-founder John Weaver allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to several young men.

“.@ProjectLincoln should either be professionalized and reformed or shut down. I founded it. i left it a year ago,” Schmidt wrote in the first of a series of tweets.

Among his many proposed reforms, Schmidt called for co-founder Reed Galen and high-ranking figures Ron Steslow and Mike Madrid to step down from their roles at the organization.

Lincoln Project Releases Trump 2024 Campaign Ad

In a hilarious, accidental promotional video for the Trump 2024 campaign, the Lincoln Project showed its talents extend beyond staging fake racism and getting in trouble for sexual harassment.

After the Biden administration announced a raid on an ISIS operative during which the terrorist set off a suicide bomb, killing himself and numerous women and children including members of his own family, the Lincoln Project made a video showing Biden’s announcement of the raid side-by-side with clips of former President Donald Trump making an announcement of a similar nature.

What is apparently lost on the oblivious LP team that mocked up the video, however, is that sane people watching will likely walk away thinking: “Gosh, I miss him.”

Biden’s announcement is rambly and full of insincere politicianese, compounded by the fact that the president has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he often doesn’t know what he’s saying. (Read more from “Lincoln Project Releases Trump 2024 Campaign Ad” HERE)

Anti-Trump Lincoln Project Co-Founder Wants Trump to Run Again in 2024

The Lincoln Project, the fiercely anti-Trump group that reviles the former president as a dangerous authoritarian, revealed last week its goal is to get Trump to run again in 2024.

CNN reported Friday on alleged tension between former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over their potential 2024 presidential runs, and Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson discussed the left-wing group’s attempts to use this tension in their marketing.

Wilson described a commercial set to air in Palm Beach – home of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago – that will frame DeSantis as the GOP “It guy” in an effort to annoy Trump. From there, he admitted that the group’s goal is ultimately to push Trump as the sole Republican candidate in 2024.

“We want Trump to kill his own babies,” Wilson said. “We believe if we narrow the field and it’s only Trump in 2024, it’s an easy choice for Americans to say ‘no.'” (Read more from “Anti-Trump Lincoln Project Co-Founder Wants Trump to Run Again in 2024” HERE)

Lincoln Project Knew of Co-Founder Sex Allegations Months Before NYT Report

Senior members of the Lincoln Project were made aware of John Weaver’s interactions with vulnerable young men as early as August 2020, according to a report published Tuesday in the Washington Blade.

Weaver cut ties with the controversial super PAC in January after dozens of young men accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior. Lincoln Project executives, however, did not publicly comment on the scandal until early February, after the New York Times published a story.

Lincoln Project cofounder Steve Schmidt told the Times that the group’s leaders saw social media posts over the summer that suggested Weaver, who is married with children, might have had relationships with young men but insisted “there was no awareness or insinuations of any type of inappropriate behavior when we became aware of the chatter at the time.”

The Blade obtained electronic communications that reportedly undermine Schmidt’s claim about what the Lincoln Project’s leaders knew at the time:

These electronic messages, which date back to August 2020 and include Lincoln Project cofounder Mike Madrid, showed that leadership was made aware of allegations about Weaver from reporters who were investigating it, and had begun discussions of how to respond to any fallout.

Lincoln Project ‘Disgusted and Outraged’ Over ‘Secret Life’ of Co-Founder

The Lincoln Project condemned its co-founder John Weaver in an official statement released Sunday, after a New York Times report published nearly two dozen testimonies that accused the Republican political strategist of sexual harassment stretching back a number of years.

Prior to co-founding the Lincoln Project, a political action committee that consists of current and former Republicans who sought to prevent Donald Trump from keeping office during the 2020 election season, Weaver served as an adviser to former presidential candidates John McCain and John Kasich during their respective campaigns.

“John Weaver led a secret life that was built on a foundation of deception at every level. He is a predator, a liar, and an abuser. We extend our deepest sympathies to those who were targeted by his deplorable and predatory behavior,” the Lincoln Project said in Sunday’s statement. “We are disgusted and outraged that someone in a position of power and trust would use it for these means.”

The Times article detailed sexual misconduct allegations from 21 men, each of whom reportedly received unsolicited messages from Weaver, over text or other digital interfaces, containing provocative or explicitly sexual advances. Some of the men were teenagers when the alleged harassment took place, and in several instances, Weaver’s sexual propositions offered career opportunities in exchange. The newspaper reviewed accusers’ correspondence with Weaver prior to publishing Sunday’s report. (Read more from “Lincoln Project ‘Disgusted and Outraged’ Over ‘Secret Life’ of Co-Founder” HERE)

Trump-Hating Lincoln Project Cofounder, Former McCain Aide, Acknowledges Sexually Harassing Multiple Men

John Weaver, a co-founder of the Lincoln Project and former top advisor to Republicans John McCain and John Kasich, apologized Friday for sending “inappropriate” messages to multiple men, Axios reported.

“To the men I made uncomfortable through my messages that I viewed as consensual mutual conversations at the time: I am truly sorry,” Weaver told Axios. “They were inappropriate and it was because of my failings that this discomfort was brought on you.”

“The truth is that I’m gay,” he reportedly said. “And that I have a wife and two kids who I love. My inability to reconcile those two truths has led to this agonizing place.”

Conservative writer Ryan Girdusky alleged Jan. 9 on Twitter that Weaver had offered jobs to young men in exchange for sex. Since then, multiple men have accused Weaver on social media of sending them unsolicited sexual messages, sometimes along with job offers or political opportunities.
