A Jewish man from Los Angeles was confirmed dead Monday after he was allegedly struck in the head by a megaphone wielded by pro-Palestinian protester at an anti-Israel rally.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, the umbrella body of Jewish philanthropy in the area, confirmed the death in a statement Monday, saying it was the “fourth major antisemitic crime committed in Los Angeles this year alone.”

Local news channel KTLA reported:

A 65-year-old Jewish man has died after an altercation at a pro-Palestinian rally in Thousand Oaks, Jewish community leaders announced on Monday.

The incident unfolded around 3:15 p.m. near the busy intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Westlake Road where, according to fire officials, authorities first received a call of a “fight in progress” with an elderly man “down.”

A video posted to social media shows the man lying on the ground with an obvious head injury as two people, including a pro-Palestinian demonstrator, try to help

Brawls Break Out as Parents Protest Pride Event at Elementary School

A Pride Month event at a Los Angeles-area elementary school devolved into multiple brawls on Friday as parent protesters forced police to intervene just a few weeks after a trans teacher’s Pride flag was burned on the premises.

Over 100 parents rallied against the Pride Day assembly at Saticoy Elementary School in North Hollywood, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Many of the outraged protesters held signs with messages like “Parental choice matters” and “No pride in grooming,” the outlet said. One truck had a large trailer draped in a red banner stating, “Leave our kids alone.”

They faced off against over 100 other demonstrators gathered across the street in support of LGBTQIA+ rights and Pride Month, which kicked off on June 1.

At least two scuffles took place at the tense event, according to NBC Los Angeles. It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured or arrested. (Read more from “Brawls Break Out as Parents Protest Pride Event at Elementary School” HERE)

CEO of “Pollchief” Election Software Arrested for Storing Confidential Data From California Election Division in China

Los Angeles County prosecutors have accused the chief executive of a small Michigan software company of compromising the personal information of hundreds of county elections employees.

Eugene Yu, 51, was arrested early Tuesday just outside Lansing, Mich., after prosecutors alleged he improperly stored the information on servers in China, according to Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón. Yu, who is the chief executive officer of a company named Konnech, is expected to be extradited to Los Angeles in the coming days, Gascón said.

Los Angeles County awarded Konnech a contract in 2020 to store employee payroll and scheduling data using its PollChief software, according to Gascón. Under the five-year contract valued at nearly $3 million, Konnech was not supposed to store information outside the U.S., Gascón said.

“Konnech allegedly violated its contract by storing critical information that the workers provided on servers in China,” Gascón said. “We intend to hold all those responsible for this breach accountable.”

It did not appear any of the information had been sold, and Gascón said Yu’s alleged actions had not compromised an election’s integrity. (Read more from “CEO of “Pollchief” Election Software Arrested for Storing Confidential Data From California Election Division in China” HERE)

Black Parent Sues LA School After Children Pick Cotton

A black parent is suing the Los Angeles Unified School District and Board of Education for a civil rights infringement after her daughter’s school allegedly had children picking cotton to learn about life as a slave.

Rashunda Pitts said her now 14-year-old daughter, identified in the suit as S.W., experienced emotional distress as a result of the project, which she deemed culturally insensitive, and claims her daughter now suffers from anxiety, according to the lawsuit filed in the L.A. Superior Court last week.

“S.W. has suffered extreme emotional distress,” the lawsuit stated, according to the Los Angeles Times. “She has uncontrollable anxiety attacks and has experiences bouts of depression when she thinks about the Cotton Picking Project.”

The reported incident dates back to 2017, when Pitts’s daughter’s social justice teacher planted a cotton field in front of the school as part of the campus garden. The school claims the garden was to give children a “real life experience” of what it was like to be a slave by “picking cotton,” because they were reading the autobiography of Frederick Douglass. Pitts’s daughter was not required to pick the cotton, but was forced to watch other children do so while she tended to other plants in the garden, according to the lawsuit. Streets to Suites: Dem-Run City Could Force Private Businesses to House the Homeless

Los Angeles voters will cast their ballot on a proposal that could force hotels to house the homeless, a policy that has many hotel owners concerned about how it will impact public safety.

President of the Northeast Los Angeles Hotel Owners Association Ray Patel joined “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Sunday, to discuss why the policy is not a long-term solution and his worry if the policy is adopted.

“This is not a solution, it’s just a temporary fix,” Patel told co-host Carley Shimkus. “And during Project Roomkey, a great example, they housed the unhoused in the hotels – but the government never provided an end solution. They never provided transitional services to permanent housing; and simply issuing hotel vouchers impacting our hotels and our marketability of those rooms to the pain tourist, corporate travelers and locals is not a solution now.”

Patel touted the COVID-era program to secure housing for the homeless, but stressed his concern surrounding how the policy would impact public safety as crime continues to spiral out of control.

If passed, the voucher program would require hotels to send information on their vacant rooms for the day by 2 PM daily, but Patel stressed that many guests have not yet checked in by that time. Soros-Backed Los Angeles District Attorney Under Fire Over LAX Sentence in Hit-And-Run of Mom and Baby Caught on Video

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón is under fire over a lax sentence given to a teenager who rammed his car into a mother walking her baby in an incident caught on surveillance video.

The harrowing video shows the mother and her 8-month-old baby in a stroller in Venice, California, as a car appears to steer into them, hitting the mother and crashing the stroller to the ground.

The teenage driver attempted to flee the scene of the crime, but a bystander drove his truck into the car to prevent him from escaping.

Investigators say the suspect, who was 16 years old at the time of the incident, had tested positive for drugs. He pleaded guilty to two felony charges of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and one felony count of hit-and-run.

He was given a sentence of only 5 to 7 months in juvenile probation camp.
