The U.S. Military Is Headed to the Border

President Donald Trump has deployed thousands of active duty U.S. troops to the southern border with Mexico in an effort to restore deterrence against illegal immigration and trafficking into the country. The move comes just two days after Trump signed an executive order from the Oval Office “directing the military to prioritize our own borders and territorial integrity in strategic planning for its operations.”

“The Armed Forces of the United States have played a long and well-established role in securing our borders against threats of invasion, against unlawful forays by foreign nationals into the United States, and against other transnational criminal activities that violate our laws and threaten the peace, harmony, and tranquility of the Nation. These threats have taken a variety of forms over our Nation’s history, but the Armed Forces have consistently played an integral role in protecting the sovereignty of the United States,” the order states.

“No later than 10 days from the effective date of this order, deliver to the President a revision to the Unified Command Plan that assigns United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) the mission to seal the borders and maintain the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of the United States by repelling forms of invasion including unlawful mass migration, narcotics trafficking, human smuggling and trafficking, and other criminal activities.”

Now, 1500 U.S. troops will be initially sent to assist Customs and Border Protection agents with their mission. Their directive could eventually be changed to help will illegal immigrant and cartel arrests. As many as 10,000 could be deployed.

Trump at Texas Border: ‘This is a Joe Biden Invasion’

Former President Donald J. Trump visited the small Texas border town of Eagle Pass on Thursday, offering his assessment of the current border situation. Trump began by describing the horrible murder of Laken Riley, a nursing student at the University of Georgia at Athens. The former President blamed the murder of Riley and other crime victims on what he referred to as the “Joe Biden Invasion.”

Trump’s remarks included details concerning his plan to regain control of the border as he lamented the deliberate destruction of the most secure border in history. The destruction occurred on January 21, 2021, with President Joe Biden canceling the former president’s strict and successful border policies. Trump’s statement described his assessment of the border, saying, “Three years ago, we had the most secure border in history, people weren’t coming because they knew they couldn’t get in, we weren’t promising free education, free medical, free everything.”

Trump went on to tout the progress towards securing the border under his administration, saying, “We ended catch and release, we built 571 miles of border wall, much more than I promised I would build.” Trump added, “We purchased another 200 miles (of wall materials), and they sold that — much of it for five cents on the dollar.”

Trump went on to describe the removal policies canceled President Biden’s watch, including “Remain in Mexico,” Asylum Cooperative Agreements (ACA’s) to speed asylum adjudication while migrants wait in Central American northern triangle countries, and the Title 42 COVID-19 expulsion mechanism. State Sues Biden Admin for Cutting Border Wire Placed by State Officials

Texas sued the Biden administration Tuesday for the federal government’s practice of cutting wire placed along the border by state authorities.

Federal agents have implemented a policy of destroying Texas’ wire to “encourage and assist thousands of aliens to illegally cross the Rio Grande and enter Texas,” according to the lawsuit. Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently instructed state authorities to place barbed wire along the border in response to an increase of illegal crossings.

“By cutting Texas’s concertina wire, the federal government has not only illegally destroyed property owned by the State of Texas; it has also disrupted the State’s border security efforts, leaving gaps in Texas’s border barriers and damaging Texas’s ability to effectively deter illegal entry into its territory,” the lawsuit alleges.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement Tuesday that the state has “the sovereign right to construct border barriers to prevent the entry of illegal aliens.” (Read more from “State Sues Biden Admin for Cutting Border Wire Placed by State Officials” HERE)

Biden to Send Active-Duty Marines, Soldiers to U.S.-Mexico Border

The Biden administration announced Tuesday that it would deploy 1,500 active-duty troops to the southern border to help deal with an expected wave of illegal immigrants starting next week.

The soldiers and Marines won’t be making arrests but will be assigned to support duties, including bringing more eyes to the border to keep tabs on illegal activity. The goal is to free up Customs and Border Protection personnel to perform their regular duties.

The Department of Homeland Security needs the help because the Biden administration will give up its Title 42 pandemic power to expel illegal immigrants on May 11, when the COVID-19 emergency expires. Title 42 has allowed CBP to immediately expel some illegal immigrants, and the tactic has helped keep the chaotic border from turning catastrophic.

The 90-day troop deployment marks an escalation of the country’s border defenses and is a retreat for President Biden. He had promised a more welcoming approach at the border but has been forced to use some of President Trump’s tactics to quell border chaos.

Past administrations have generally tapped the National Guard for border duty, but the Pentagon said it is sending active-duty troops this time — at least at first. Officials said they hope reservists can be rotated into duty and that Homeland Security eventually hires contractors to fill the troops’ jobs. Biden ‘Working Out the Details’ To Go to Southern Border

President Joe Biden said Wednesday he has the “intention” to go to the southern border when he visits Mexico City from Jan. 9 to Jan. 10 for the North American Leaders’ Summit (NALS).

Biden confirmed he would be making the trip to the border, and that he’s “working out the details now,” while speaking to reporters outside of Air Force One on his return trip from Kentucky.

When he got back to the White House, Biden said he wanted to see “peace and security” and is “going to see what’s going on” at the border. He said he’ll give a speech on the topic Thursday.

Biden has not gone to the border since 2008 when he drove by as vice president, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in 2021.

Customs and Border Patrol has experienced record-breaking numbers of illegal migrant encounters during Biden’s presidency, with 2.3 million encounters recorded in fiscal year 2022.

GOP Rep Says DHS Are Complicit in Human Trafficking at the Border

Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul said Sunday that the Department of Homeland Security is complicit in human trafficking at the U.S. southern border with Mexico.

McCaul made the comment while appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” hosted by Martha Raddatz, who turned the topic to House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s call for DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign or face impeachment on Tuesday for his handling of the U.S. southern border with Mexico. . .

“They [DHS] are complicit with the biggest human trafficking event of our lifetime,” McCaul told Raddatz and others on the panel. “And I think the American people deserve some accountability.” (Read more from “GOP Rep Says DHS Are Complicit in Human Trafficking at the Border” HERE)

Here Are the Most Shocking Things I Saw in My Night at the Border

It was dark and the desert heat had finally subsided when we pulled up to an abandoned KFC near the U.S.-Mexico border. But this was no ordinary KFC; the restaurant was once the endpoint of a drug smuggling tunnel that was discovered in 2019, according to Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines.

“It came up immediately behind us, Jennie, 400 yards inside of the Mexican border,” Lines told me as we drove further down the border.

We arrived at a gate where dozens of migrants huddled together came into view on the other side. They were the first group I had seen with migrants from Central America, usually the most common region of origin for migrants crossing the border, since I got into town just days before. . .

When Border Patrol eventually showed up, the migrants would rush to line up, some of them yelling at each other because of line cutting. The three border agents loading them onto the bus were completely outnumbered.

Border Patrol is so busy with processing that they leave water for the migrants, who are waiting to be taken into custody. Multiple times we saw agents refilling the water stations and leave the migrants to wait for the next empty bus. Biden Admin Continues Strategy of Not Calling the Border Crisis a ‘Crisis’ (VIDEO)

Blas Nunez Neto, the Department of Homeland Security’s acting assistant secretary for Border and Immigration Policy, refused to call the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border a “crisis” when repeatedly pressed by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) on Thursday.

DHS officials, including Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, have been grilled by Republican lawmakers as the leadership within DHS continues to deny responsibility for the historic increase in illegal border crossings and drugs being smuggled into the United States.

“By the way What would you call what’s happening at the border? Is it a crisis?” Hawley asked.

“I believe we’re facing significant challenges at the border, sir,” Neto replied.

“Challenges. Is it a problem?” Hawley followed up.

“I think there are parts of the border where we have seen particularly problematic flows,” said Neto.

Worried About 2022? Senate Democrat Now Pushing to Build Border Wall (VIDEO)

Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) recently toured two sectors along the U.S.-Mexico border and called for more security as the crisis that started under President Joe Biden appears set to become worse once Title 42 is no longer enforced after May 23.

Hassan visited and spoke with Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, which leads the nation in arrests for illegal immigrants, and the Tucson Sector. Hassan called for a border wall, along with more personnel and technology to confront the ongoing border crisis.

“On my third trip down to the border as a senior member of the Homeland Security Committee, I heard from border agents about the urgent need for additional resources – including personnel, technology, and physical barriers – to help ensure that we have safe, secure, and humane borders,” Hassan said in a statement.

“In particular, I appreciated hearing from border agents about their efforts to stop unlawful border crossings, and the technology that they use to secure the border and intercept illegal drug trafficking,” she continued. “I will continue working across the aisle to help ensure that our border agents have the support that they need to carry out their critical mission and will keep pressing the administration for a comprehensive plan to strengthen border security and deliver additional resources to the border, which is especially important given its recent announcement to end Title 42.”

The ‘Whipgate’ Hoax Investigation Has Already Crumbled

It’s been nearly a month since a Democratic operative created a fake narrative about the behavior of Border Patrol agents defending the U.S.-Mexico border from illegal immigrants, but the initially swift condemnation from the highest levels of the Biden administration has turned into a slow-walked investigation.

Despite promising that the investigation would take “days,” Mayorkas and DHS have now taken more than two weeks and still haven’t concluded their hastily ordered probe. . .

At the time back, [Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas pledged that the investigation would happen swiftly to provide information about exactly what had happened. The problem with the Biden administration’s quick condemnation of reports — many of which had to be corrected due to utter inaccuracy — is that the alleged actions they condemned didn’t actually happen. . .

When The Hill queried DHS about their missed deadline, officials said they still have no clear end-date for the report. “The investigation is ongoing,” DHS claimed. “The Department is committed to a thorough, independent, and objective process,” adding they “are also committed to transparency and will release the results of the investigation once it is complete.” (Read more from “The ‘Whipgate’ Hoax Investigation Has Already Crumbled” HERE)
