White House Offers Explanation for Botched Statement That Caused Uproar in Mexico

The White House offered an explanation Friday for a blunder that evolved into a minor international incident this week.

After several top officials took a trip to Mexico to address the ongoing border crisis, the White House released a joint statement with the country via email that named “democratic decline” as a root cause of migration. The version posted to the White House briefing room was identical except for one key difference: the note about “democratic decline” had been deleted. The statement released via email, including “democratic decline” being a root cause of the crisis, was not discussed with the Mexicans and a mistake, a national security spokesperson told the Daily Caller.

“Due to a version control issue, the initial version of the document that we posted online included an additional phrase that had not been discussed with the Mexicans,” the spokesperson told the Daily Caller. “Promoting democratic values in the region is a top priority for the Biden-Harris Administration and we have worked with Mexico to promote these values, including most recently in Guatemala and Venezuela.”

Mexico’s government released the Spanish-language version of the joint statement Thursday which does not include the deleted phrase. (Read more from “White House Offers Explanation for Botched Statement That Caused Uproar in Mexico” HERE)

Mexico’s President Flexes His Open-Borders Power Over Biden

President Joe Biden’s deputies are offering multiple concessions to Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador in the hope that he will conceal the huge and unpopular flow of illegal migrants during the 2024 campaign season.

On Thursday, three of Biden’s cabinet secretaries met with Obrador. He has the power to embarrass Biden during the 2024 campaign with massive, televised eruptions of migrants — such as the September 2021 rush of 15,000 Haitians at Del Rio, Texas.

He has that power because Biden’s deputies have abandoned their duty to enforce the border law and have, instead, triggered a flood of global migrants through Mexico that Mexico’s government can hold or release whenever Obrador chooses.

On Thursday, Attorney General Merrick Garland promised Obrador that he would restrict the supply of U.S.-made guns to Mexico’s cartels, saying that U.S. officials “well understand the dangers of the military-grade weapons that are being trafficked to Mexico.” (Read more from “Mexico’s President Flexes His Open-Borders Power Over Biden” HERE)

America’s Biggest Trading Partner Is No Longer China but This Country

Mexico has overtaken China as America’s biggest trading partner as the US looks to import goods closer to home and minimize its reliance on geopolitical rivals, according to Bloomberg.

America’s southern neighbor made up 15% of US imports in July, compared to 14.6% from China, according to data analyzed by the outlet.

The number of Chinese shipments in July were at their lowest level since the start of COVID, dropping by 14.5% in July compared to the same month last year, according to data released by Beijing last month.

The findings also showed that imports fell by 12.4% as the ruling Communist Party struggles to dig out of its post-pandemic funk.

Meanwhile, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Mexico is up more than 40% in the country this year as US companies increasingly shun China, Bloomberg reported. (Read more from “America’s Biggest Trading Partner Is No Longer China but This Country HERE)

This Country Just Decriminalized Abortion

Mexico’s Supreme Court deemed all federal penalties for abortion unconstitutional, announcing the controversial decision in the predominantly Catholic country in a social media post on Wednesday evening.

The court’s First Chamber issued a ruling saying that the federal criminal code that penalizes abortion “violates the human rights of women and persons with the capacity to gestate.”

The ruling responds to legal challenges regarding three statutes in the Mexican criminal code that sanction women who choose abortion, health professionals who perform abortions, and those who pressure pregnant women to abort. (Read more from “This Country Just Decriminalized Abortion” HERE)

WATCH: Tragic Video Shows Gender Reveal Party Ends in Disaster

A gender reveal party ended in disaster as a plane attempting a stunt crashed and killed the pilot.

A couple held a gender reveal party on Saturday in Sinaloa, Mexico. The expecting mother and father hired a pilot to fly a small plane over a gender reveal party in Laguna de San Pedro, Sinaloa. The plane would release pink-dyed water over the party to signify the upcoming birth of their baby girl. However, the stunt ended in a gender reveal disaster.

The soon-to-be-parents are standing in front of an “Oh baby” sign with pink and blue balloons. The small plane flew straight above the couple and dropped pink water. Meanwhile, a cannon on the ground erupted and fired out pink confetti.

As the pilot pulled up, the plane’s wings collapsed mid-flight and the aircraft spiraled out of control. Meanwhile, the couple hug and kiss to celebrate the gender reveal as the partygoers cheer about the unborn daughter.

The plane crashed to the ground. Emergency response teams reportedly arrived at the crash site and found the pilot lying unresponsive in the plane wreckage. The pilot was taken to the Mexican Social Security Institute in Navolato, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Mexican Politician Convicted for ‘Misgendering’ Lawmaker in Social Media Posts, Awaits Appeal

A former Mexican congressman convicted of “gender-based political violence” over social media posts referring to a trans-identifying congressional representative as a “man who self-ascribes as a woman” is calling on the international community to intervene concerning “systematic violations of fundamental rights.”

Rodrigo Iván Cortés, the current head of the political advocacy group Frente Nacional por la Familia (National Front for the Family), addressed the Organization of American States last Wednesday as he awaits an appeal of his conviction.

“[In Mexico] the freedom of expression of citizens is canceled and their free participation in the democratic conformation of laws is prevented,” Cortés said, according to ADF International, the advocacy group supporting him.

“Unfortunately, I suffer this in my own flesh in the cases that are being carried out against me and the organization that I preside over, the National Front for the Family, for objecting to initiatives that ostensibly violate human rights.”

The charges against Cortés stem from a series of social media posts in 2022, where he allegedly “misgendered” congressional Salma Luévano, a Mexican congressional representative. (Read more from “Mexican Politician Convicted for ‘Misgendering’ Lawmaker in Social Media Posts, Awaits Appeal” HERE)

Biden DHS Is Literally Inviting Mexican Officials to Send Batches of Illegal Aliens Across the Border

Instead of stopping the illegal aliens currently swarming the border thanks to the upcoming expiration of Title 42 — a pandemic-era policy that allowed Border Patrol to immediately expel illegal migrants upon first encounter — the Biden administration is actively facilitating unlawful entries into the United States.

According to a report from the Center for Immigration Studies, President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has been coordinating with Mexican immigration officers to facilitate group swims across the border using an encrypted WhatsApp channel.

Mexican immigration officers explained to the Center for Immigration Studies that in late April, DHS initiated a “controlled-flow” system with Mexican officials.

Under the arrangement, Mexican senior officers have been continually informing U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials how many immigrants are “gathered and [are] prepared to cross the river.” Then, “the Americans on the other side would ask the Mexicans to hold back the migrants – not because such crossings are illegal and should be blocked and obstructed, but only until the Americans had finished processing the last batch,” explained Todd Bensman for the Center for Immigration Studies.

When the Americans can take more illegal migrants, they send word to the Mexican officials, who radio their on-ground immigration officers. The immigration officers “signal to the waiting crowd to go forward and, once they figure enough are in the water, they cut off the rest and push and cajole them back into line until the Americans signal they’re ready again.” (Read more from “Biden DHS Is Literally Inviting Mexican Officials to Send Batches of Illegal Aliens Across the Border” HERE)

Poll Finds Human Trafficking Top Concern in Border Crisis

Americans are very worried about human trafficking when it comes to the U.S.-Mexico border, a new poll shows ahead of a planned rally in Texas.

The Trafalgar Group‘s survey, released as officials brace for a migrant surge should the Trump-era Title 42 policy credited with blocking millions of crossings expire next month, asked likely general election voters to pick from a handful of issues stemming from the “southern border crisis” that concern them the most.

Top of the list, with 35.1% of voters, was human trafficking of women and children. In second place were 26.6% of respondents picking illegal border crossers or asylum seekers being released into the U.S. before their cases are reviewed.

After that, 14.8% said illegal border crossers with ties to international terrorist organizations, followed by 14.1% saying they are most concerned about the flow of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs. The remaining 9.4% said none of the above.

Conducted in partnership with the Convention of States Action, a conservative group, the nationwide poll surveyed 1,096 likely general election voters from April 11 through April 14. The Trafalgar Group says the poll has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points. (Read more from “Poll Finds Human Trafficking Top Concern in Border Crisis” HERE)

You’re Sorry? Gulf Cartel Apologizes, Turns Over 5 Members Tied to Americans’ Deadly Kidnapping

A secretive faction of Mexico’s notorious Gulf Cartel apologized and turned in five members who they say are responsible for the broad-daylight kidnapping that killed two Americans last week.

The cartel’s Scorpions group said it “decided to turn over those who were directly involved and responsible in the events” related to the March 3 abduction of four Americans in the border city of Matamoros, according to a letter leaked to the Associated Press by a Tamaulipas state law enforcement source.

The letter also claimed the five members “acted under their own decision-making and lack of discipline” when they attacked victims Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown and Eric James Williams.

McGee and Williams were found injured but alive in a dingy shack on Tuesday after a four-day search. Woodard and Brown, however, had been shot dead.

The ambush, the letter states, went against the Gulf Cartel’s policy of “respecting the life and well-being of the innocent.” (Read more from “You’re Sorry? Gulf Cartel Apologizes, Turns Over 5 Members Tied to Americans’ Deadly Kidnapping” HERE)

Two of the Four Americans Kidnapped After Shootout in Mexico Found Dead

Two of the four US citizens violently kidnapped in Mexico last week have been found dead and two others alive, officials announced Tuesday.

One of the surviving Americans was wounded and the other was unharmed, Tamaulipas Gov. Américo Villarreal said.

The foursome from South Carolina — identified as Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown, and Eric James Williams — were abducted at gunpoint in broad daylight on March 3, shortly after they crossed the border from Texas into the border city of Matamoros in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas.

The group of friends had traveled to Mexico for a cosmetic medical procedure when they were shot at and forced into the back of a pickup truck, according to relatives.

McGee was scheduled for a tummy tuck surgery on the day of the kidnapping, said her mother, Barbara Burgess. Her pals had accompanied her on the trip. (Read more from “Two of the Four Americans Kidnapped After Shootout in Mexico Found Dead HERE)
