WATCH: Pence Says Trump Is Planning Executive Action to Protect Pre-Existing Conditions

Vice President Mike Pence said during a Tuesday interview that the president is considering executive action, if necessary, to protect Americans with pre-existing health conditions.

As Democrats consider all the ways a conservative-anchored Supreme Court could affect different laws that were enacted under their own party control of the Executive and Legislative branches, the fate of Obamacare weighs heavy in their minds. Shortly after Election Day, the Supreme Court is set to rule on the constitutionality of certain aspects of the Affordable Care Act, including the much bemoaned individual mandate.

On Tuesday, CBS’ Norah O’Donnell asked the vice president whether he believed that Obamacare should be in such jeopardy when so many Americans are concerned about not being able to get health coverage for their pre-existing medical conditions. . .

“We’ve long believed that the individual mandate at the center of Obamacare was unconstitutional,” the vice president answered. That mandate, which legally requires all Americans to have at least a basic level of pricey health care coverage, has been blamed for hiking up the cost of premiums across the board. The tax penalty for refusing coverage has already been repealed for being unconstitutional.

“But make no mistake about it,” Pence continued, “the president’s also been very clear we’re going to make sure that any American with a pre-existing condition will continue to have coverage. The president is going to take action in the weeks ahead to make sure of that.”

This Moment Between Pence and Biden at the 9/11 Memorial Is Getting a Lot of Attention (VIDEO)

They may be rivals on the campaign trail, but as the nation marks the 19th year since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and Vice President Mike Pence put politics aside.

The two briefly chatted and tapped elbows — a common replacement for shaking hands amid the coronavirus pandemic — as they both attended the annual memorial service at Ground Zero in New York City, at the site where more than 2,600 people died on Sept. 11, 2001, when two airliners hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists slammed into the World Trade Center, collapsing the Twin Towers.

The former vice president and his wife, Jill Biden, were accompanied by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the Senate Minority Leader, as they arrived at the National September 11 Memorial Plaza in lower Manhattan. As the traditional reading of the names of those killed when the Twin Towers collapsed got underway, Biden and Pence stood just a few feet apart. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a brief rival during the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, also stood nearby and briefly greeted Biden. Trump Lands Major Endorsements From Democrat Mayors in Minnesota

A number of Democrat mayors from Minnesota endorsed President Donald Trump for a second term on Friday as Vice President Mike Pence campaigns in the state.

“Like many in our region, we have voted for Democrats over many decades. We have watched as our constituents’ jobs left not only the Iron Range, but our country. By putting tariffs on our products and supporting bad trade deals, politicians like Joe Biden did nothing to help the working class. We lost thousands of jobs, and generations of young people have left the Iron Range in order to provide for their families with good-paying jobs elsewhere. Today, we don’t recognize the Democratic Party. It has been moved so far to the left it can no longer claim to be advocates of the working class. The hard-working Minnesotans that built their lives and supported their families here on the Range have been abandoned by radical Democrats. We didn’t choose to leave the Democratic Party, the party left us,” the letter, signed by Virginia Mayor Larry Cuffe, Chisholm Mayor John Champa, Ely Mayor Chuck Novak, Two Harbors Mayor Chris Swanson, Eveleth Mayor Robert Vlaisavljevich and Babbitt Mayor Andrea Zupancich, states.

WATCH: Pence Explains Why Americans Must Choose President Trump Come November

Vice President Mike Pence focused on America’s greatness during his Wednesday night speech at the Republican National Convention. According to the vice president, the Biden-Harris ticket is focused on bringing the country down and into darkness while the Trump-Pence ticket is inspired to build America up.

“In these challenging times… our country needs a president who believes in America. Who believes in the boundless capacity of the American people to meet any challenge, defeat any foe, and defend the freedoms we all hold dear…America needs four more years of President Donald Trump in the White House!” he exclaimed. . .

“Over the past four years, I’ve worked closely with our president. I’ve seen him when the cameras are off. Americans see President Trump in lots of different ways but there’s no doubt how President Trump sees America. He sees America for what it is… a nation that has done more good in this world than any other, a nation that deserves far more gratitude than grievance,” he explained. . .

“On November 3rd, you need to ask yourself: Who do you trust to rebuild this economy? A career politician who presided over the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression or a proven leader who created the greatest economy in the world?” Pence asked. Trump Says It’s Safe to Hold Rallies Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

By The Hill. President Trump said Monday that he believed it was safe to continue holding campaign rallies across the country during the coronavirus outbreak.

“I think it’s very safe,” Trump told reporters when asked whether he believed holding rallies was safe during an Oval Office meeting with Colombian President Iván Duque Márquez on Monday morning.

Trump, who is scheduled to headline a rally in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday evening, also told reporters they should ask the same question of Democrats running for president.

“Well this was set up a long time ago and others are,” Trump said, referring to the North Carolina rally. “You could ask that to the Democrats because they’re having a lot of rallies.”

The coronavirus outbreak has led a number of countries in Europe and Asia to take measures to mitigate the spread; Switzerland, for instance, has banned events of over 1,000 and Japan has implemented a country-wide school closure. Twitter Claims It ‘Mistakenly’ Censored Mike Pence Tweet

Twitter hid a tweet from Vice President Mike Pence behind a “sensitive content” filter yesterday, meaning it was placed behind a label warning users that the tweet contained “sensitive material.” Twitter said the action was a mistake and it has been corrected.

According to Twitter, the Vice President’s tweet was “flagged as sensitive media in error,” and that the decision has been reversed. . .

This is not the first time that Twitter has censored a member of the U.S. executive branch by “mistake.” A year into President Trump’s first term, a “disgruntled customer support employee” was able to briefly delete the President’s personal Twitter account. The employee was later revealed to be Bahtiyar Duysak, a Turkish-German who was working for Twitter in the U.S. on a visa. Pathetic Elitism in Motion: Inbred Prince Charles Snubs Vice President Mike Pence

In this political hellfire of an era, we have to take time to savor the little things, you know? Like petting nice dogs, or a good cookie … or a member of the royal family completely ignoring Mike Pence at a public event. We have to savor.

Prince Charles and Vice President and noted personification of a blank stack of paper, Mike Pence, were both in attendance at the World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem, where Pence and the Prince both delivered remarks. In a truly beautiful moment, Charles seemed to look directly through Pence and declined to shake his hand before moving on to greet Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.

WATCH: Vice President Pence Explains the Trump Admin’s Process for Dealing With Iran

Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday night had his first interview following the killing of Qasem Soleimani. He sat down with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell to discuss what took place.

“Iran’s supreme leader called the attack a slap in the face but are you worried a punch in the gut may be around the corner?” O’Donnell asked.

Pence said the American people can rest easier because of President Trump’s leadership and the military’s professionalism. As a result of the military’s professionalism and preparedness, there were no American or Iraqi casualties in the Iranian attacks on the al-Asad airbase. . .

“Well, we’re dealing with a country that’s been the leading state-sponsor of terrorism for more than 20 years,” Pence explained. “And so we’ll continue to be prepared, continue to confront Iran in the way that President Trump has since the beginning of this administration.” . . .

“The fact that no American lives were lost was a great relief, I know to the president and to myself, to our entire national security team as it is to every American,” Pence said. “We moved forces, we provided the level of force protection at the president’s direction, and, in a very real sense, we had the early warning systems that allowed us to move Americans and our allies out of harm’s way.”

‘Never Happened’: Mike Pence Contradicts Sondland Testimony (VIDEO)

Representatives for Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of Energy Rick Perry disputed testimony given to House investigators by Ambassador Gordon Sondland on Wednesday as part of the House’s ongoing impeachment efforts.

In his opening statement, Sondland said that he told Pence about his concerns that a delay in U.S. military aid had become tied to “the issue of investigations.” This would have been before Pence was scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Warsaw, Poland.

“There was a September 1 meeting with President Zelensky in Warsaw,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately President Trump’s attendance at the Warsaw meeting was cancelled due to Hurrican[e]Dorian. Vice President Pence attended instead. I mentioned to Vice President Pence before the meetings with the Ukrainians that I had concerns that the delay in aid had become tied to the issue of investigations.”

He was also asked about the interaction later in the hearing.

However, Vice President Pence’s chief of staff, Marc Short, said that discussion simply didn’t happen.

“The Vice President never had a conversation with Gordon Sondland about investigating the Bidens, Burisma, or the conditional release of financial aid to Ukraine based upon potential investigations,” Short said in a statement. “Ambassador Gordon Sondland was never alone with Vice President Pence on the September 1 trip to Poland. This alleged discussion recalled by Ambassador Sondland never happened.”

At another point during the his opening statement, Sondland claimed that he, Ambassador Kurt Volker, and Energy Secretary Rick Perry were all in communication with President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani over the course of “several months” and “worked with Mr. Rudy Giuliani on Ukraine matters at the express direction of the President of the United States.”

A Department of Energy spokesperson, however, said that “Ambassador Sondland’s testimony today misrepresented both Secretary Perry’s interaction with Rudy Giuliani and direction the Secretary received from President Trump.”

The disparity between accounts comes as Sondland’s spotty recollection of events related to the Ukraine matter came into question in other ways during Wednesday’s hearing. At one point, he blamed part of his difficulty in reconstructing events on the fact that he is “not a note-taker or a memo-writer.” Republican counsel Steve Castor later critiqued the witness’ lack of notes, records, and recollection as a “the trifecta of unreliability.” Sondland responded that his recollections had been “refreshed by subsequent testimony, by some texts and emails that I’ve now had access to.”

Teacher Tells Students: Mike Pence Should Be ‘Shot in the Head’

A North Carolina high school teacher allegedly told students that Vice President Mike Pence should be “shot in the head” — and the teacher is now under investigation.

The teacher — who works at Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw — allegedly made the comment the same week Pence was in the area to campaign for Republican Dan Bishop, WJZY-TV reported. Bishop, a state senator, won a special election Tuesday for North Carolina’s congressional seat.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office told WJZY it passed the information along to the Secret Service to investigate. The station referred to the teacher in question as a female but said it wasn’t naming the teacher. . .

Union County GOP Chair Allison Powers told WJZY she believes “teachers need to be a lot more careful about what they say to impressionable young children” and “you should not be bringing in those type of viewpoints to your job.” . . .

The school district gave the following statement to WSOC-TV in regard to the matter: “Union County Public Schools is aware of the allegation of inappropriate comments made by a Cuthbertson High School teacher. District administrators are taking this allegation seriously and an investigation is being conducted. This is a personnel matter and information related to this alleged incident is protected by state law.” (Read more from “Teacher Tells Students: Mike Pence Should Be ‘Shot in the Head'” HERE)
