SEE IT: Reporter Reveals Photos Showing Pence Hiding During Capitol Riot; AG Garland Will Criminally Charge Donald Trump; Democrats Try to Connect Supreme Court Justice’s Wife to January 6

By Washington Examiner. Photos of former Vice President Mike Pence and his family hiding during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot were unveiled Wednesday.

ABC Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl described the images in his book Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show and previously said the ex-vice president’s team did not want him to release them.

The photos were published one day before the Jan. 6 committee is expected to hold a hearing on the pressure campaign by former President Donald Trump and his allies against Pence to overturn the 2020 election results.

Pence was at the Capitol on Jan. 6 to preside over the counting of electoral votes. Despite pressure from Trump, Pence did not try to send the results back to certain states Trump lost in November over claims of election fraud. In fact, he sent a letter to Congress saying he did not have the power to reject Electoral College votes, dealing a blow to Trump’s hopes to deny a victory for President-elect Joe Biden. January 6 Panel Wants to Hear From Justice Thomas’s Wife, Chairman Says

By AP News. The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol has asked Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for an interview, the panel’s chairman said Thursday afternoon.

Thomas, a conservative activist, communicated with people in President Donald Trump’s orbit ahead of the attack and also on the day of the insurrection, when hundreds of Trump’s supporters violently stormed the Capitol and interrupted the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.

“We have sent Ms. Thomas a letter, asking her to come and talk to the committee,” Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Democratic chairman of the panel, told reporters after a three-hour public hearing Thursday. He didn’t specify a time or date for an interview. Betsy DeVos Says Trump Cabinet — Including Pence — Discussed 25TH Amendment to Remove Him From Office

Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos claims she and other cabinet members, including former Vice President Mike Pence, discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove former President Donald Trump after Jan. 6.

DeVos spoke to Ingrid Jacques with USA Today ahead of the release of her new book, “Hostages No More: The Fight for Education Freedom and the Future of the American Child.” . .

“It wasn’t about the election results,” she told Jacques. “It was about the values and image of the United States. It was about public service rising above self. The president had lost sight of that.” . . .

“I spoke with the vice president and just let him know I was there to do whatever he wanted and needed me to do or help with, and he made it very clear that he was not going to go in that direction or that path,” she said. . .

Pence Says Trump ‘Wrong’ About ‘Un-American’ Idea to Overturn Election

Mike Pence on Friday made his sharpest break yet with Donald Trump, saying the former president was “wrong” about Pence’s ability as vice president to overturn the 2020 election, calling the notion “un-American.”

Trump slammed Pence ahead of the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, for not having the “courage” to reject swing-state electors for then-President-elect Joe Biden, but Pence until now has more gently pushed back on Trump over it.

“I heard this week that President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election,” Pence told a gathering of the Federalist Society in Orlando, Fla.

“The presidency belongs to the American people and the American people alone. And frankly, there is no idea more un-American than the notion than any one person could choose the American president. Under the Constitution, I had no right to change the outcome of our election.”

Pence, 62, is believed to be considering a 2024 campaign for president. Trump, 75, also is teasing a potential 2024 rematch against Biden and has hinted he might not pick Pence as his running mate. (Read more from “Mike Pence Says Trump ‘Wrong’ About ‘Un-American’ Idea to Overturn Election” HERE)

Mike Pence’s Staff Is Giving up the Goods to the Jan. 6 Committee: Report

Mike Pence’s office is cooperating the the Jan. 6 committee.

Axios reported on Wednesday that “many” figures around the former vice president have voluntarily testified, including his former chief of staff, Marc Short, and his former press secretary, Alyssa Farrah. Keith Kellogg, Pence’s national security adviser who was subpoenaed by the committee in November, also gave a deposition.

One of Axios’ sources said that neither Short nor Kellogg would have cooperated without first getting the green light from Pence himself. (Read more from “Mike Pence’s Staff Is Giving up the Goods to the Jan. 6 Committee: Report” HERE)

Is Mike Pence Running for President in 2024?

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to New Hampshire last week and stops in other high-profile early primary states are fueling speculation about a potential 2024 presidential run — and questions about whether he can win over the GOP voters he angered on Jan. 6.

In New Hampshire, Pence made a number of campaign-style stops, attending a fundraiser for Republican state Senate candidates, meeting with local political activists and stopping by a local bakery.

While the former vice president insists that he is laser-focused on bolstering support for Republican candidates running in 2022, New Hampshire is the latest early primary state he’s visited as he works to navigate political life after former President Trump.

In his most direct comments to date, Pence did not rule out a potential 2024 bid, even if Trump also entered the race, as the former president is increasingly hinting he’ll do.

“I can honestly tell you in 2023, my family and I will do what we have always done. We’ll reflect, we’ll pray and determine where we might best serve, and we’ll go where we’re called,” Pence told a CNN reporter in Manchester, N.H., on Wednesday. Reporter Says Photos Show Pence Hiding During Capitol Riot

ABC Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl says there are photos of Mike Pence hiding underground during the Capitol riot that the former vice president’s team did not want him to publish.

The journalist, who is previewing a forthcoming book, Betrayal: The Final Act of the Trump Show, described to late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert how he got in touch with an “official White House photographer” who was with Pence during the several hours “he was hidden away in the bowels of the Capitol in a place no one has ever really known.” Karl said he saw all of the photographs for himself.

“It is wild to see that he was in a loading dock in an underground parking garage beneath the Capitol complex,” Karl said in a CBS clip shared by The Late Show on Monday. “No place to sit. No desk. No chairs. Nothing. He was in this concrete … parking garage with his family.”

“This is the vice president of the United States, and he’s … holed up in a basement,” he added.

In one of the photos, Karl said an aide was showing Pence a tweet from former President Donald Trump slamming his vice president for not having “the courage” to try and overturn the results of the 2020 election while he was presiding in the Senate chamber over lawmakers certifying Joe Biden’s victory on the day of the riot.

Mike Pence Says He ‘Parted Amicably’ With Trump

Former Vice President Mike Pence said late Monday that he “parted amicably” with former President Trump at the end of their terms in January.

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Pence was asked about his relationship with the former president amid their disagreements about certifying the 2020 election on Jan. 6.

“Look, you can’t spend almost five years in a political foxhole with somebody without developing a strong relationship,” Pence said.

Trump repeatedly pressured Pence to block the results of the 2020 election when Congress certified them on Jan. 6. During the count, a mob of Trump’s supporters breached the Capitol, leading to a delay of the certification.

Congress would ultimately certify President Biden’s Electoral College victory once the Capitol was secured. (Read more from “Mike Pence Says He ‘Parted Amicably’ With Trump” HERE)

Donald Trump Supporters Say Mike Pence ‘Betraying’ Him With Potential 2024 Run

By Jill Colvin. When former President Donald Trump was asked to list those he considers the future leaders of the Republican Party, he quickly rattled off names including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz. Conspicuously absent from the list: Mike Pence.

The former vice president is steadily reentering public life as he eyes a potential run for the White House in 2024. He’s joining conservative organizations, writing op-eds, delivering speeches and launching an advocacy group that will focus on promoting the Trump administration’s accomplishments.

But Trump’s neglect in mentioning Pence during a podcast interview earlier this month signals the former vice president’s unique challenge. For someone who built a reputation as one of Trump’s most steadfast supporters, Pence is now viewed with suspicion among many Republicans for observing his constitutional duty in January to facilitate a peaceful transfer of power to the Biden administration, a decision that still has Trump fuming.

To prevail in a Republican presidential primary, Pence may have to reinforce his loyalty to Trump while defending his decisions during the final days of the administration . . . (Read more from this story about Pence’s trouble with Trump Supporters HERE)

Trump Supporters Say Pence Betraying Him Again

By Sabrina Scotus. Some prominent pro-Trump social media users have offered harsh criticism of former Vice President Mike Pence amid suggestions that the Republican may be looking at a presidential run in 2024.

Though former President Donald Trump remains the favorite to win the Republican nomination in 2024, an Associated Press (AP) report about Pence’s recent activities has set off speculation about the former vice president’s own ambitions.

The possibility of a Pence campaign for the White House was not well received by some prominent Trump-supporting social media users.

Infowars host Alex Jones told his 178,000 followers on Gab that Pence was mulling a run after “betraying constitution, Trump, the American people.” (Read more from “Donald Trump Supporters Say Mike Pence ‘Betraying’ Him With Potential 2024 Run” HERE)

Mike Pence Is Skipping Trump’s Farewell Event to Be With Biden

Vice President Mike Pence is not expected to attend President Trump’s send-off event on Inauguration Day.

Pence is planning to attend Mass with President-elect Joe Biden in the morning before they head to Biden’s inauguration ceremony at the Capitol. A source familiar with the discussions told the Washington Examiner that logistics will prevent the vice president from also being at the departure ceremony for his boss. The same is expected of congressional leaders Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, according to Axios.

Trump is set to fly out of the White House early on Inauguration Day before attending the military send-off at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and leaving aboard Air Force One for Florida some time after 8 a.m. In a break with tradition, Trump said he will not attend the inauguration of his successor. Mike Pence Says He Won’t Invoke 25th Amendment Against Trump in Letter to Pelosi

Vice President Mike Pence sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Tuesday and stated he would not invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office.

The letter, which was released as the House met to vote on calling on Pence to “convene and mobilize” President Trump’s cabinet to remove him from the White House.

Pence began his remarks by reflecting on last week’s events that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol, calling it a “moment that demonstrated to the American people the unity that is still possible in Congress when it is needed most.”

“But now, with just eight days left in the President’s term, you and the Democratic Caucus are demanding that the Cabinet and I invoke the 25th Amendment,” Pence told Pelosi. “I do not believe that such course of action is in the best interest of our nation or consistent with our Constitution.” (Read more from “Mike Pence Says He Won’t Invoke 25th Amendment Against Trump in Letter to Pelosi” HERE)
