Insanity: Trans ‘Woman’ Weightlifter Cleared To Compete in Tokyo Olympics

The International Olympic Committee has cleared a transgender athlete to compete in the upcoming Tokyo games.

The IOC ruled Saturday that Laurel Hubbard, 43, who is a biological man, can compete for New Zealand in the women’s weightlifting super-heavyweight category and that [his] inclusion does not violate the current rules on the books.

[He] is on track to be the first transgender athlete to ever compete in the games.

“The rules for qualification have been established by the International Weightlifting Federation before the qualifications started,” IOC boss Thomas Bach said during a new conference Reuters reported. “These rules apply, and you cannot change rules during ongoing competitions.” (Read more from “Insanity: Trans ‘Woman’ Weightlifter Cleared To Compete in Tokyo Olympics” HERE)

Star U.S. Swimmer Refuses Coronavirus Vaccine Ahead of Olympics

On Thursday, Team U.S.A. swimmer Michael Andrew informed the press that he refused to take any of the coronavirus vaccines ahead of the Olympic games in Tokyo.

During his comments on Thursday’s U.S. Swimming media call, he explained his reasoning for not getting vaccinated, according to Indianapolis’ ABC affiliate, WRTV:

“My reason behind it is I, for one, it was kind of a last moment. I didn’t want to put anything in my body that I didn’t know how I would potentially react to,” the swimmer said. “As an athlete on the elite level, everything we do is very calculated. For me in the training cycle, especially leading up to trials, I didn’t want to risk any days out because we do know that there are periods where getting the vaccine, you have to deal with some days off.” . . .

“But as far as that goes, U.S.A. Swimming and all of us here have been through a very strict protocol with lots of testing, masks, socially distant, obviously staying away from the crowds, everything like that,” he added. “And going into Tokyo, the same thing, with testing every day. So we feel very safe and protected, knowing that we’re minimizing risk as much as possible.” (Read more from “Star U.S. Swimmer Refuses Coronavirus Vaccine Ahead of Olympics” HERE)

Controversial Olympian Insists National Anthem Is ‘Disrespectful’ to Black Americans (VIDEO)

Olympic athlete Gwen Berry, who on Saturday turned away from the US flag during the national anthem, doubled down on her controversial protest Monday — insisting the anthem is “disrespectful” to black Americans.

“If you know your history, you know the full song of the national anthem. The third paragraph speaks to slaves in America — our blood being slain … all over the floor,” Berry, 31, said on Black News Channel.

“It’s disrespectful, and it does not speak for black Americans.”

“It’s obvious,” she added. “There’s no question.”

White House Defends Olympian Who Turned Back on U.S. Flag

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Monday defended the “peaceful protest” of Olympic hammer thrower Gwen Berry, who on Saturday turned away from the US flag while the national anthem played and covered her head with her T-shirt that read, “Activist Athlete.”

Asked by a reporters what President Biden thought of the move by Berry, which critics have slammed as unpatriotic and unbecoming of a Team USA member that will represent the United States in Tokyo, Psaki seemed to say he would be understanding.

“I haven’t spoken to the president specifically about this, but I know he’s incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform all around the world,” Psaki said at her daily press briefing.

Psaki added: “He would also say, of course, that part of that pride in our country means recognizing there are moments where we are — as a country, haven’t lived up to our highest ideals. And it means respecting the rights of people granted to them in the Constitution to peacefully protest.”

American Athlete ‘Pissed’ National Anthem Was Playing at Olympic Trials

A U.S. hammer thrower turned away from the American flag as the national anthem played while she and two other athletes stood on the podium at the Olympic trials Saturday, later saying she was “pissed” the “Star-Spangled Banner” played as she received her bronze medal.

Gwen Berry — who qualified for her second U.S. Olympic team during the trials — shifted to face the stands rather than the flag before holding up a black shirt that read, “Activist Athlete.”

“I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose,” Berry said of the anthem being played. “I was pissed, to be honest.

“They had enough opportunities to play the national anthem before we got up there,” Berry said in Oregon, where the trials are being held. “I was thinking about what I should do. Eventually I stayed there and I swayed, I put my shirt over my head. (Read more from “American Athlete ‘Pissed’ National Anthem Was Playing at Olympic Trials” HERE)

U.S. Trans Athlete Allegedly Talked About Exploding The ‘Head Of A President’ With ‘Dynamite’

A transgender BMX freestyle rider and U.S. Olympic team alternate once allegedly made remarks about exploding the head of a president with dynamite, according to a report.

In Facebook comments reported by conservative journalist Ian Miles Cheong, Chelsea Wolfe, who will be a part of Team USA in the Summer Olympics this year as an alternate, allegedly wrote: “I would never say that someone should explode the head of the president. That would be illegal.”

In a follow-up response, he added, “But I will say ‘with dynamite.’ Because that’s just a sentence fragment and doesn’t actually mean anything. It’s not necessarily related to the sentence that came before it.”

Breitbart News had previously reported on comments made by Wolfe in which he said his goal was to go to the Olympics and win so he could burn the American flag on the podium. (Read more from “U.S. Trans Athlete Allegedly Talked About Exploding The ‘Head Of A President’ With ‘Dynamite’” HERE)

A Male Powerlifter Could Be Competing in Women’s Sport at 2021 Olympics

New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard could be the first biological male to compete in a women’s sport at the Olympics.

A rule change, approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), would automatically qualify Hubbard for the New Zealand women’s weightlifting team at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, the Guardian reported Wednesday. The rules were apparently changed after multiple competitions had to be canceled over coronavirus, according to the outlet. Hubbard would compete with the team in the women’s super heavyweight category, the Guardian noted.

Hubbard won two silvers in the women’s World Weightlifting Championships back in 2017 and placed sixth in 2019 after suffering an injury during the competition, the Guardian reported. Hubbard also took home two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa. (Read more from “A Male Powerlifter Could Be Competing in Women’s Sport at 2021 Olympics” HERE)

Athletes Who Take a Knee or Raise a Fist in Protest at Tokyo Olympics Will Face Punishment

The International Olympic Committee announced Wednesday that its ban on athletes demonstrating in official venues will remain in place for this summer’s Tokyo Olympics, and reiterated that kneeling or raising a fist in protest will be grounds for punishment.

The IOC’s “Rule 50” states that “No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas.” But the committee agreed to revisit the rule amid pressure after American athletes made it a commonplace occurrence to protest their own national anthem as a way to call for racial justice in the U.S.

In a report detailing the reasoning behind its decision to keep the rule, the IOC explained that over the past year it conducted a survey of more than 3,500 international athletes across the globe and found that “a clear majority of athletes believe that it is not appropriate for athletes to demonstrate or express their views” at the podium (67%), field of play (70%), or during the opening ceremony (70%).

IOC’s Athletes’ Commission chief Kirsty Coventry led an online presentation of the Rule 50 results, Reuters reported. The former Olympic swimming champion for Zimbabwe told the audience, “I would not want something to distract from my competition and take away from that. That is how I still feel today.” (Read more from “Athletes Who Take a Knee or Raise a Fist in Protest at Tokyo Olympics Will Face Punishment” HERE)

2020 Olympics Will Be Postponed

Veteran International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound told USA TODAY Sports on Monday afternoon that the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games are going to be postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided,” Pound said in a phone interview. “The parameters going forward have not been determined, but the games are not going to start on July 24, that much I know.”

Pound, a Canadian who has been one of the most influential members of the IOC for decades, said the games will likely be moved to 2021, with the details to be worked out in the next four weeks. He said he expects the IOC to announce its next steps soon.

“It will come in stages,” said Pound, 78, the longest-serving IOC member. “We will postpone this and begin to deal with all the ramifications of moving this, which are immense.”

Neither the IOC nor the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee had announced a decision to postpone as of Monday afternoon. (Read more from “2020 Olympics Will Be Postponed” HERE)

Olympics Officials Discuss Holding Summer 2020 Games Without Spectators Amid Coronavirus Fears

Medical officers from various sports federations which run the Olympics have discussed with the World Health Organization the possibility of holding the 2020 summer Olympics without spectators.

In a conference call that took place last week, officials brought up a worst-case scenario in which the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak would threaten the health of thousands of spectators expected to fill stadiums at the games in Tokyo, Japan, the New York Times reported on Thursday. If spectators are permitted, medical officials would have to create a screening process to check fans and athletes to detect and prevent the spread of coronavirus. . .

Japan Olympic minister Seiko Hashimoto has insisted that the country will go forward with the Olympics this summer. Tokyo’s contract with the International Olympic Committee states that the IOC reserves the right to cancel the event if “the safety of participants in the Games would be seriously threatened or jeopardized for any reason whatsoever.” (Read more from “Olympics Officials Discuss Holding Summer 2020 Games Without Spectators Amid Coronavirus Fears” HERE)
