Police Tell Residents to Leave Car Keys Where Thieves Can Grab Them

A police officer in one major city has advised residents, amid an explosion in the number of car thefts, to leave their car keys where thieves can easily grab them.

The apparent goal is to avoid a “confrontation” with thieves who would break into a home to steal car keys, in order then to steal that car.

The advice comes from Toronto, Canada, police constable Marco Ricciardi who was at a town meeting recently in the municipality of Etobicoke.

“To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your FOBs at your front door. Because they’re breaking into your home to steal your car. They don’t want anything else,” he said. “A lot of them that they’re arresting have guns on them. And they’re not toy guns, they’re real guns. They’re loaded.”

A report from Fox News notes that car thefts have spiked in the area. Toronto auto thefts were 5,000 in 2019, but exploded to more than 12,000 last year. (Read more from “Police Tell Residents to Leave Car Keys Where Thieves Can Grab Them” HERE)

Suspect Accused in Vicious Beating of Cop ‘Wanted to Kill a White Police Officer,’ Prosecutor Says

The suspect accused in a vicious beating of a Cincinnati cop last month “wanted to kill a white police officer,” Hamilton County prosecutor Melissa Powers said, according to WCPO-TV.

Brandon Claiborne, 34, was initially charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault after police said he beat Officer Terry McGuffey with his own baton, tried to “gouge the officer’s eyes out,” and struck him several times with a Taser on July 23, the station reported.

Claiborne now will face two aggravated robbery charges, two felonious assault charges, and an attempted murder charge, WCPO added, citing a grand jury indictment released Wednesday.

What’s more, Powers said in a press release that “the investigation determined Claiborne wanted to kill a white police officer,” the station noted.

“This vicious attack was nothing short of attempted murder of a police officer,” Powers also said, according to WCPO. “Situations like this are the direct result of a growing anti-police movement that is dehumanizing law enforcement.” (Read more from “Suspect Accused in Vicious Beating of Cop ‘Wanted to Kill a White Police Officer,’ Prosecutor Says” HERE)

Biden Crime Crisis: Killings of Police Explode, Hit All-Time High

An FBI database of police officers killed in the line of duty shows that more have died since Joe Biden became president than deaths dating back to 1995.

“We believe it’s a combination … of the George Floyd protests — riots, if you will; a general feeling of a preference for less law enforcement; and less prosecution and less policing,” Jason Johnson, president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) and a 20-year police veteran, said in a Fox News report.

“Law enforcement officers have essentially been marginalized and demoralized and cast aside and encouraged now to enforce the law,” Johnson said. “And so we’ve seen massive jumps in the homicide rate in cities across America.”

Johnson said rising homicide rates in major U.S. cities have “also resulted in many more officers being assaulted because … a lot of leaders in these cities and leaders in Congress and leaders in the White House have really voiced a lack of respect for law enforcement officers.” . . .

Ambush attacks against officers were also up in 2021, with LEOKA data showing that 32 officers were killed in an ambush or unprovoked attack in 2021, exceeding previous records dating back to at least 1987, according to the Heartland Institute’s report. WATCH: Video Captures Man Beating Police Officer as Onlookers Cheer

A North Carolina police officer was beaten during a Facebook Live video while some onlookers laughed and cheered on the attacker.

“Let ’em whup his a–! Let ’em whup his a–!” one man is heard saying in a nearly 11-minute video of the attack.

“Don’t you let that man take you to f—in’ jail!” was also heard being yelled. . .

The incident unfolded Saturday when 27-year-old Michael Sale with the Rowland Police Department was trying to make an arrest. He was the only officer on duty at the time, and it took other police officials additional time to provide backup.

He was airlifted to a local hospital suffering a suspected broken bone around his eye. (Read more from “WATCH: Video Captures Man Beating Police Officer as Onlookers Cheer” HERE)

WATCH: Maybe BLM Protesters Should Start Waiting for the Facts Before Protesting; ‘This No Longer Has Anything to Do With Black Lives Matter’: People Are Tired of Riots

By Townhall. On Wednesday, after a black 18-year-old was shot by a D.C. police officer and died shortly after in a nearby hospital, the name Deon Kay joined the pantheon of black “victims” killed at the hands of so-called “KKKcops.” Protesters immediately sprung into action on Wednesday, carrying over into Thursday and culminating in an angry mob gathering outside the home of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Since the facts are almost never on their side, the Left seizes upon the initial reports of a black person being shot by police, before those pesky little facts about the events leading up to the shooting can spoil the slanderous narrative.

Unfortunately for Black Lives Matter, who claimed Kay was unarmed and shot in the back, a lot is now known about the shooting of Deon Kay.

Police say officers were responding to a live stream on social media of a man brandishing a firearm. The officers recognized the young man from their previous encounters with the individual. According to the chief, Kay was a “validated” gang member.

When officers arrived and approached the car, two of the four occupants fled on foot. Bodycam footage of the incident captures Deon Kay raising a gun as he runs toward a Hispanic officer. The officer then fires a single shot at Kay, striking him in the chest.

‘This No Longer Has Anything to Do With Black Lives Matter’: Neighbors, Business Owners Tired of Portland Riots, Violence

By KGW 8. The mood was festive in a way at a Monday night protest outside the Pearl District apartment building where Mayor Ted Wheeler lives. It was the mayor’s birthday, and people were calling for him to resign. But when some people broke windows and got into the building, the mood changed.

“They broke the glass and there were glass shards everywhere here,” said Eli Shemali. . .

Shemali said he supports free speech, “but in our case, I think they really broke through the line. They actually tried to set fire inside in the deep space of the clinic, and in a high-rise building that really is uncalled for. It could have gotten out of hand and led to something really pretty serious.” . . .

On Tuesday morning, the cleanup came with frustration for people who live in the area, including a man who lives in same building as the mayor. Tom Drewes said he and many others in the building support the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I think, sadly, this no longer has anything to do with Black Lives Matter and that’s the tragedy of this. I think that message has been co-opted by people with a totally different agenda,” said Drewes. Officers Edelmiro Garza, Jr., 45, and Ismael Chavez, 39, of the McAllen Police Department in Texas were shot and killed on Saturday. The officers were reportedly ambushed while responding to a domestic disturbance call at a residence.

Chavez was a former chemistry teacher and football coach, and the father to Savannah Chavez. The daughter of the slain officer posted several memories and heartfelt tributes to her loving father on Twitter.

words cannot describe the pain I’m in, but I’m glad my dad is at peace. you were an amazing man and anyone who ever came across you knew that. I’m going to miss you so much. you died doing what you loved most, you died a hero. i love you daddy, see you soon. #BlueLivesMatter

. . .One Twitter user responded to the tweet by saying: “I am so sorry for your loss but you didn’t have to use a racist hashtag,” according to Heavy.com.

“Blue lives matter was literally created in response to and to undermine black lives matter,” another person wrote. “There’s no other connotation unfortunately.” (Read more from “Daughter of Slain Cop Attacked Online for Writing #Bluelivesmatter in Tribute to Fallen Father” HERE)

University Forced to Apologize for Sharing Email About Police Recruitment Fair

George Washington University issued an apology Wednesday to students after sending an email about an upcoming police employment fair.

The chair of the sociology department, Hiromi Ishizawa, said the employment email sent a few days prior “hurt many people in this context of national and international focus on police violence and police abuses, especially against Black people,” according to pictures of the email chain obtained by Young Americans for Freedom, a conservative advocacy organization.

“Our Department’s programs and classes provide students with knowledge and analytical tools to understand and improve society, including to research, recognize, and redress systematic inequalities and injustice,” she added. “Current events have solidified our continued and renewed commitment to challenge ourselves and our students to be part of ending systemic racism, state violence, and other inequities.”

The previous email, sent June 5, informed students of an upcoming virtual career showcase with officers from four different law enforcement agencies. The email was sent to criminal justice majors among others and offered a $500 cash prize or book scholarship to a winner of a competition. 36-Year-Old Woman Calls 911 Over Parents Cancelling Phone Plan

Police arrested a 36-year-old Ohio woman last week after she would not stop calling 911 to tell police that her parents had canceled her cellphone plan, WEWS-TV reported.

On Feb. 13, Seloni Khetarpal of Canton, Ohio, “repeatedly” called police demanding that officers respond to the situation by coming to her home, court documents say.

During the first call, police reportedly warned her that the regional emergency dispatch should be dialed only in the case of an actual emergency requiring police assistance — but she didn’t listen. Hours later, Khetarpal called again insisting that the police do something.

According to court documents, she was “belligerent” and insisted that her parents canceling her phone plan was a legitimate issue.

WATCH: IRS Armed Guard Pulls Gun on Uniformed Sheriff’s Deputy, Almost Turns Lethal

A security guard at an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) office in Ohio pulled a gun on an on-duty cop for carrying his service pistol in a gun-free zone.

The security guard, Seth Eklund, was later arrested and is now facing charges of aggravated menacing for pointing his gun at uniformed Lucas County Sheriff’s deputy Alan Gaston, who entered the Toledo, Ohio IRS office on Monday, May 31 to inquire about a letter he received, ABC 13 News reported on Wednesday.

Gaston had gone to the office while on duty to request a phone number to follow up with a matter described in the letter. Security camera footage showed Gatson walking in the office while wearing his police uniform with service pistol, but when he walked out, Eklund followed him at gunpoint.

Upon seeing Gatson enter the office, Eklund ordered the deputy to take off his gun and place it in his vehicle. Since it is against law enforcement procol to disarm while on duty, Gatson declined, and Eklund responded by pointing a gun to the deputy’s back. . .

Someone from inside the IRS office had called 911 to report a man with a gun who would not leave, but failed to mention that the security guard was holding a gun to a uniformed law enforcement officer. Police Officer Charged With Raping Woman During Traffic Stop

An unnamed woman has accused Ryan Macklin, a six-year veteran police officer in Maryland, of sexually assaulting her during a late-night traffic stop on Thursday night. After a preliminary investigation, Macklin was charged with rape and a host of other charges.

The unidentified woman appears to be in the country illegally, though this has not been confirmed. Maryland’s Prince George’s County Police Chief Hank Stawinski repeatedly said that the woman was targeted because she was female, and not because of her “immigration status.”

Macklin, 29, pulled over the woman around 1 a.m. while on duty and in uniform. After apparently entering the woman’s car, Macklin allegedly forced her to perform a sexual act on him.

The alleged victim was seemingly hesitant to come forward, only notifying authorities after friends coaxed her into it several hours after the incident.

The officer was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, perverted sexual acts, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree sex offense, according to The Blaze. For now, Macklin has been suspended without pay. (Read more from “Police Officer Charged With Raping Woman During Traffic Stop” HERE)
