Pay-To-Pee Teacher Faces No Discipline; Mad Mom Vows To Homeschool

Photo Credit: YouTube screenshots / heivokasLast week, two Vancouver, Wash. third graders said they wet their pants after their teacher would not let them use the bathroom. The students, both girls, said the reason for the denial was that they hadn’t accumulated enough pretend classroom money to pay for privilege.

The unidentified teacher will not be punished in any way as a result of one investigation of the incidents, a teachers union representative told The Columbian.

A separate investigation of the same incident based on livid mother Jasmine Al-Ayadhi’s complaint remains pending.

The alleged incidents occurred May 15 at Mill Plain Elementary School.

The pretend money is designed to teach students about the value of money. Students earn the fictional funds by doing their homework, for example, or by being nice to others. They can spend it to buy pizza or pointless crap like a squirt gun. Students say they must also use the fake cash to pay for bathroom breaks.

A little boy who claims he was told by officials at an after-school program that he couldn’t read his Bible is getting support from the American Civil Liberties Union.

The civil rights group’s Tennessee branch is defending the child, sending a letter to the Cannon County REACH after-school program in an effort to urge officials to better train staff on the proper handling of participants’ religious rights, the Christian Post reported.

Staff at REACH reportedly not only told the boy he couldn’t read the Bible, but they also allegedly tried to take it from him, saying that the program could lose state funding if he continued reading it.

“[The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee] has a long-standing commitment to uphold and defend Tennesseans’ ability to practice religion, or not, as they choose,” Hedy Weinberg, the organization’s executive director, said in a statement. “The goal of our letter is to clarify for the REACH program what seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of how the Constitution protects religious liberty.”

Read What a School Did to a 9-Year-Old Girl After She Shaved Her Head to Support Her Cancer-Stricken Friend

Photo Credit: KUSA-TVA Colorado 9-year-old was not allowed in class Monday because she violated the school’s dress code. Her offense? Shaving her head as an act of compassion to support a friend battling cancer.

Kamryn Renfro, who attends Caprock Academy, a public charter school in Grand Junction, told KUSA-TV she “felt it was the right thing to do.”

“I was really excited I would have somebody to support me, and I wouldn’t be alone with people always laughing at me. I would at least have somebody to go through it all,” 11-year-old Delaney Clements, Kamryn’s friend who recently started chemotherapy, told KDVR-TV.

The school said in a statement that its dress code policy was “created to promote safety, uniformity and a non-distracting environment for the school’s students.”

Hollywood Actress: Public Schools Are Brainwashing Kids With ‘Progressive Agenda’

Photo Credit: Heritage Network An actress who was formerly quiet about her political beliefs has come out against what she calls “a progressive agenda” in America’s public schools.

Sam Sorbo, the wife of “Hercules” actor Kevin Sorbo, homeschools her children and recently began publicly writing about the topic of education.

In an interview with The Blaze’s Dana Loesch, Sorbo said she initially did not think writing about education would cause much political controversy — but she was wrong.

“Of course school is the most political, because that’s where the progressive agenda is coming out the strongest and the hardest,” said Sorbo.

Sorbo said she was hesitant to reveal her faith or political beliefs publicly because of possible backlash and negative reaction from Hollywood.

But she could not remain silent on education.

“You people who send your kids to school, you have no idea what the schools are doing to their fresh little brains, in brainwashing them into this progressive, liberal—it’s antithetical to America, the agenda that they’re being indoctrinated with,” Sorbo said.

North Carolina School Board Votes to Keep Controversial Book in High School Curriculum

Photo Credit: James SarmientoA North Carolina school board will keep in its high school curriculum a book that tackles abortion, torture, rape and prostitution.

The Watauga County school board voted 3-2 on Thursday to keep Isabel Allende’s “The House of the Spirits” in the curriculum after the mother of a sophomore at Watauga High read the book assigned to her son and asked teachers to ban it, Fox 8 reported, citing the Winston-Salem Journal.

The vote follows a five-month controversy over the novel, a New York Times bestseller, which is recommended by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as part of the Common Core curriculum.

“Parents need and deserve an opt-out if they don’t want their children to read this particular book,” said board member Brenda Reese, who added she has read the book twice since the challenge first came up in October. “But I don’t feel like we should pull this book from the class.”

California Elementary School Parents Warned About Pass-Out Game

Parents at a Roseville school were warned about a dangerous game students are playing that sent one student to the hospital.

The urgent message from the principal at George Sargeant Elementary School came after paramedics were called when a student passed out in class.

The principal says that student was playing something called the pass-out game. It’s where students see how long they can hold their breath.

In this case, it went too far.

“Several students then told me some of the fourth- and fifth-graders had been playing the pass-out game for the last several months,” the message said.

NC High School Football Coach Ordered To Cease Baptisms, Leading Prayers

Photo Credit: SAEED KHAN/AFP/Getty ImagesHead football coach of Mooresville High School, Hal Capps, has been ordered to stop baptizing players and leading them in prayer following criticism from a national organization promoting constitutional separation of church and state.

The Wisconsin-based nonprofit Freedom from Religion Foundation wrote a request last fall that coach Capps cease leading prayers and joining baptisms for his players as a base rule of separating public school activities and religious ceremonies. School Superintendent Mark Edwards met with Capps, who said, “he understood” the violation and would no longer participate in such religious observances, the Charlotte Observer reports.

“It is a violation of the Constitution for the Mooresville High School football coach to organize, lead, or participate in prayers or other religious proselytizing before, during, or after games and practices,” Patrick Elliott, attorney for Freedom from Religion Foundation, wrote to the school’s district attorney last fall.

“It is well settled that public schools, and by extension public school officials, may not advance or promote religion.”

Elliott emailed the Observer a picture from the Blue Devils’ team Twitter, reportedly showing Capps at a team baptism. But Superintendent Edwards said the photo is from a baptism performed at the Charles Mack Citizen Center, a church that many team members attend and Capps was simply invited to attend.
