Eighth-Grade Class Receives Shocking Graduation Gift: Bullet-Proof Ballistic Shields

By The Blaze. The eighth-grade graduates at a middle school in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, received a rather sobering gift for graduation: bullet-proof ballistic shields. . .

WXTF-TV reported that St. Cornelius School gave the students the unlikely graduation presents, which were provided by a local company. The company, Unequal Technologies, designed and developed the Safe Shield, which, according to WXTF, can be slipped into a backpack.

Rob Vito, the company’s president, said, “Handguns are useless against a product like this. Shotguns are useless against a product like this.”

The company donated the shields to St. Cornelius’s 2018 graduating class. Twenty-five shields were also donated to school faculty.

Watching the children’s faces in the WXTF’s video report below, it seems clear that the students were at least a little taken aback by the gifts. (Read more from “Eighth-Grade Class Receives Shocking Graduation Gift: Bullet-Proof Ballistic Shields” HERE)

Graduating 8th Grade Class Gifted Bulletproof Backpack Plates Before Heading to High School

By Fox 29. Local students have been outfitted with ‘ballistic shields’ for their backpacks as they get ready to head to high school next year.

FOX 29’s Bruce Gordon was at St. Cornelius in Chadds Ford Monday as graduating 8th grade students were given the bulletproof plates, all thanks to a local company.

St. Cornelius is located in just the kind of quiet, almost idyllic setting that we used to think made schools immune to violent acts like mass shootings.

The gift given to graduating 8th graders appears to be a clear sign that times have changed. The graduating 8th graders at St. Cornelius seemed unsure just what to make of their “welcome to high school” gifts. . .

Glen Mills-based Unequal Technologies developed the ultra-thin Safe Shield and designed the 10-by-12-inch plate to be slipped into a backpack, which can then be used as the name implies. Professor Calls for ‘Toxic Masculinity Training’ for Kids as Young as Five

. . .In a recently published issue of On The Horizon, Kathleen Elliott argues that “finding ways to promote healthy masculinity early and to teach boys and young men to recognize, reject, and challenge simplified, toxic masculinity is essential for creating cultural change.”

Men’s Projects—which typically probe participants to reflect on the ramifications of masculinity—are increasingly commonplace on college campuses, and Elliott suggests that “many of goals and methods can be adopted in k-12 schools.”

Citing the now-defunct University of Wisconsin-Madison Men’s Project, Elliott explains that such programs educate male students on “intersectionality and the complexity of masculinity identities” while helping them “challenge simplified definitions of masculinity.”

The scholar further argues that in addition to implementing Men’s Projects in K-12, one of the key strategies teachers can use to fight toxic masculinity is to “highlight women’s achievements in curricula and in the classroom.” . . .

The professor also encourages K-12 teachers to “explicitly teach and model complex masculinity,” especially in light of media representations that promote “aspects of toxic masculinity such as physical strength, dominance, and heterosexual prowess.” (Read more from “Professor Calls for ‘Toxic Masculinity Training’ for Kids as Young as Five” HERE)

Fair? Now Everyone Makes Cheer Squad… Because of a Single Complaint

By WND. A cheer squad in East Hanover, New Jersey, is about to get very crowded because one mother complained that her teenage daughter didn’t make the cut.

So now everyone who has an interest in cheerleading will make the team, say coaches at Hanover Park High School.

“All my hard work has been thrown out the window,” complained cheerleader Stephanie Krueger, according to the New York Post. “I tried my hardest. Now everything is going away because of one child who did not make the team, and their parent complained.”

There will be no more tryouts or cuts. The high-school athletic director said the mother’s complaint is the reason for the policy change.

When they received complaints about the new, “inclusive” rule, school officials said the squad would be open to everybody or nobody at all. They threatened to totally disband the 10-member team. (Read more from “Fair? Now Everyone Makes Cheer Squad… Because of a Single Complaint” HERE)

Everyone Makes School’s Cheer Squad After Parent Complains

By NY Post. A New Jersey mom went to her daughter’s school and complained about her not making the cheerleading squad — so now everyone gets to make the team. . .

Krueger and several other cheerleaders voiced their anger last Wednesday during a board meeting, according to News 12 New Jersey.

“I came up here to state that I did not put in 18 months of work to lead up to this moment, just to be told it didn’t matter anymore,” said sophomore Jada Alcontara.

In response to the outrage, the school board released a statement saying: “In order to facilitate a more inclusive program, the alignment between the various cheerleading squads would be modified to allow all interested students to be able to participate. This decision was made in the best interest of all students and was made to be as inclusive as possible.” (Read more from “Everyone Makes School’s Cheer Squad After Parent Complains” HERE)

Trump to Pull Feds out of K-12 Education

By The Washington Times. President Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to start pulling the federal government out of K-12 education, following through on a campaign promise to return school control to state and local officials.

The order, dubbed the “Education Federalism Executive Order,” will launch a 300-day review of Obama-era regulations and guidance for school districts and directs Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to modify or repeal measures she deems an overreach by the federal government.

“For too long the government has imposed its will on state and local governments. The result has been education that spends more and achieves far, far, far less,” Mr. Trump said. “My administration has been working to reverse this federal power grab and give power back to families, cities [and] states — give power back to localities.”

He said that previous administrations had increasingly forced schools to comply with “whims and dictates” from Washington, but his administration would break the trend.

“We know local communities know it best and do it best,” said Mr. Trump, who was joined by several Republican governors for the signing. “The time has come to empower teachers and parents to make the decisions that help their students achieve success.” (Read more from “Trump to Pull Feds out of K-12 Education” HERE)

A report will be returned to the White House and eventually made public, officials said. (Read more from “Trump Order Seeks to Limit Federal Role in K-12 Education” HERE)

Investigation Launches After Video Shows Teacher Drag 7-Yr-Old by the Ankle off the Bus

By The Daily Caller. A Tennessee elementary school teacher is under investigation after video surfaced showing him dragging a seven-year-old student by his ankle off the school bus.

The Robert R. Church Elementary teacher tried to break up a fight between students on a bus and ended up dragging a young black student upside down off the bus, according to the Shelby County Schools.

The mother of the student, Kimberly Hardin, said her son came home with a concussion and a bruise on his back, adding that the school district did not inform her about it until a few days later. A fifth grader apparently recorded the incident and his parent sent it over to Hardin. (Read more from “Investigation Launches After Video Shows Teacher Drag 7-Yr-Old by the Ankle off the Bus” HERE)

Murder, Rape and Suicide: How an Obama Era ‘Diversity’ Directive Ushered Injustice Into Our Public Schools

When a policy intended to create racial equality treats students differently based on the color of their skin and buries serious wrongdoing in the name of diversity, real victimhood is ripe for the making and injustice is bound to flourish.

An Obama-era diversity-themed education directive has been doing just that, according to educators, anti-school violence advocates, and guardians of student victims. Whistle-blowers have uncovered the ushering in of seemingly avoidable rapes, sexual assaults, suicides, murders, and vicious bullying within the halls of our public schools due to a threatening federal guidance issued in 2014.

Education Week explains that the civil rights guidance, which was jointly issued by the Departments of Education and Justice, “put schools on notice that they may be found in violation of federal civil rights laws” or denied federal grants “if they enforce intentially discriminatory rules or if their policies lead to disproportionately higher rates of discipline for students in one racial group, even if those policies were written without discriminatory intent.” . . .

Nicole Landers, a pediatric nurse, mother of six, and advocate against school violence, told The Daily Wire that her fiftth grade daughter Tama shared her story of being sexually assaulted in school to Secretary DeVos at the meeting. Landers’ daughter was the only student victim in attendance; other victims were represented by their guardians . . .

Landers succinctly concluded, “However these guidelines were intended, we can’t speak to; the outcome of these guidelines is that all the children are getting hurt,” she explained. “The offending students are not getting identified, assessed and getting appropriate intervention; the victimized students are getting repeatedly victimized; the educators are living in fear of trying to do anything disciplinary in their classrooms for fear of being labeled discriminatory in their actions; the principals are terrified of the central office, so they’re suppressing the data and putting pressure on the teachers to do the same; and the states are worried about the loss of grant funds and CVR investiagtions.” (Read more from “Murder, Rape and Suicide: How an Obama Era ‘Diversity’ Directive Ushered Injustice Into Our Public Schools” HERE)

Public Schools Will Now Allow Students to Choose Whatever Gender or Race They Want

Delaware is considering adopting a policy that will let young students in school choose whatever name, gender, or race they want under a veil of school protection mandating that the parents not be informed of these decisions unless the student explicitly wishes the parent be included.

Drafted by Delaware Gov. John Carney, the anti-discrimination policy states that children from K-12 can choose their own name, identify with whatever race or gender they feel most comfortable with, and even access hormone blockers necessary to transition without the consent of their parents.

Regulation 225, known as “Prohibition Of Discrimination,” also indicates that students will be able to join any sports team they choose and can use bathrooms and showers according to their chosen identity.

Many parents have become outraged over this proposed policy, charging that it violates their right as parents to care for their children without government intrusion.

“As a parent I have fundamental rights to the care, custody, control, upbringing and information regarding my child,” concerned parent Kay Fox said, as noted by WBOC.

Critics of the policy also worry that it puts the privacy and safety of all students at risk, given that it will allow students to claim a certain gender so that they can access the locker rooms, showers, restrooms, and overnight quarters of the opposite sex.

“It opens Pandora’s Box,” Rep. Rich Collins, said, according to Delaware State News. “It has the potential to twist schools up in knots.”

Proponents of the policy, however, see it as a necessarily thorough measure that will protect transgenders and minorities from discrimination.

“The comprehensive nature of the protective characteristics makes it a really good regulation. It’s very broad in terms of the groups of students it protects,” Mark Purpura, a member of the policy development team, told WBOC.

However, Purpura did admit, that the over 11,000 public comments submitted to Delaware’s Department of Education (DOE) regarding the policy have almost all been negative.

The state’s DOE is expected to make a decision on whether to revise the draft of the policy or to implement it as is in the coming months and will develop a school curriculum to introduce the policy given the latter.

The District of Columbia Public Schools also issued guidance in 2016 indicating that students who feel they are transgender can elect to have their parents participate in the transition process, but that they don’t have to tell their parents about their transition if they don’t wish to.

A similar set of guidelines from Chicago Public Schools instructs staff not to tell parents about their child’s gender transition without the child’s permission.

Policy guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Education also instructs school personnel to speak with the student first before discussing a student’s gender nonconformity or transgender status with the student’s parent or guardian.

The Oregon Department of Education also issued similar policy guidelines.

Public School Students Taught to ‘Pledge Allegiance to an International Flag’

It is widely accepted that American public schools are controlled by liberals. It seems like every day, we see new examples of American schoolchildren being indoctrinated with left-wing ideas . . .

Kindergarten students from PS75, a public school in New York City, recently took part in a class project in which the children were made to create an American flag with the flags of other 22 other nations superimposed over the stripes. Below the flag read the words “We pledge allegiance to an International Flag.”

The flag is being auctioned off as a way to raise funds for the Parent Teacher Association. According to the description offered on the auction site:

The students made a beautifully painted stretched canvas American Flag and then applied flags from all the Spanish speaking countries onto the stripes of the American flag. All the children chose a flag to color using colored pencils and they were glued onto the larger American flag. The stars are cut canvas which are painted and decorated with REAL Swarovski Crystals (gold and crystal colored)!

Parents Say Public School Forced Their Child to Convert to Islam

A public high school has been accused of radical Islamic indoctrination by forcing children to profess the Muslim statement of faith, ordering them to memorize the Five Pillars of Islam and teaching that the faith of a Muslim is stronger than the average Christian, according to a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Thomas More Law Center filed the lawsuit on behalf of John and Melissa Wood. They accuse La Plata High School in Maryland of subjecting their teenage daughter to Islamic indoctrination and propaganda. And when Mr. Wood complained – the school banned him from campus.

“Defendants forced Wood’s daughter to disparage her Christian faith by reciting the Shahada, and acknowledging Mohammed as her spiritual leader,” Thomas More president Richard Thompson said.

The Shahada is the Islamic Creed, “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” . . .

If La Plata High School wanted to teach children about jihad, they should’ve replayed the video footage of what happened on September 11, 2001 – or the Boston Marathon bombing – or the San Bernardino massacre or the Chattanooga attacks. This Is the Horrifying Thing a 7th-Grader Was Told When She Refused to Deny God

In a story gaining momentum since late October, a seventh-grader from Katy, Texas, was made to state “God is a myth” by her middle-school teacher. Now the student is facing startling repercussions for her refusal to back down.

It started when 12-year-old Jordan Wooley’s teacher assigned a quiz at West Memorial Junior High School asking students to label statements as “fact, assertion, or opinion.”

Statements included “America is the most free country on Earth,” and “there is a God.” Jordan said the assignment was to identify “factual claims, commonplace assertions and opinions.” She said she originally answered the statement “there is no God” in two ways, according to a local CBS News affiliate . . .

Now Jordan is experiencing fallout from her refusal to back down from her story and for standing up for her beliefs. She says she has been bullied and told to kill herself after media coverage of the incident.

Wooley’s mother, Chantel, said, “Jordan’s faith is continually being tested. She feels like she’s being made to be a liar when all that she did was tell the truth. … She was harassed at school, she was flipped off in the hallway, she was cursed at and blamed for this situation that her teacher and administration has created. She has chosen to forgive them and pray for them.” (Read more from “This Is the Horrifying Thing a 7th-Grader Was Told When She Refused to Deny God” HERE)
