Justice Alito Has ‘Good Idea’ of Who Leaked Dobbs Opinion; Suggests Motive Was Assassination

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said that he has a “pretty good” idea who was behind the leak of the court’s decision on overturning Roe v. Wade — and that the leak made the justices targets for possible assassination.

Alito, who authored the landmark Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that ruled there is no constitutional right to abortion, made the comments in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“I personally have a pretty good idea who is responsible, but that’s different from the level of proof that is needed to name somebody,” Alito said: “It was a part of an effort to prevent the Dobbs draft … from becoming the decision of the court. And that’s how it was used for those six weeks by people on the outside — as part of the campaign to try to intimidate the court.”

Alito said that the Supreme Court “did a good job with the resources that were available,” but said that the evidence was not strong enough for an official designation of guilt. (Read more from “Justice Alito Has ‘Good Idea’ of Who Leaked Dobbs Opinion; Suggests Motive Was Assassination” HERE)

Supreme Court Announces Major Update in Dobbs Leak Probe

The Supreme Court announced in a statement Thursday that the investigation into who leaked a draft of the court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization has led to no conclusions.

Politico obtained and published a draft copy of the court’s decision in May, prompting outrage among pro-abortion activists and mass demonstrations in front of conservative justices’ homes.

The day after the leak, Chief Justice John Roberts ordered Supreme Court Marshal Gail A. Curley, the head security officer for the court, to launch an investigation.

The court officially released the decision in June, which overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and removed the constitutional right to an abortion. (Read more from “Supreme Court Announces Major Update in Dobbs Leak Probe” HERE)

Supreme Court Leaker: One Law Clerk on Short List of Suspects

Investigators who are examining the leak of Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade have narrowed their inquiry to a handful of suspects, including at least one law clerk, though officials have not affirmatively identified a culprit, according to people familiar with the matter.

Chief Justice John Roberts assigned the high court’s marshal, Gail Curley, to investigate the leak in May. But with the institution’s own police lacking the experience in such complex investigations, the court invited outside assistance from government investigators, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

The latest report marks the most significant update on the hunt for the person who leaked Alito’s draft opinion to Politico on May 2. In a small yet notable report in late July, Fox News anchor Shannon Bream reported investigators looking into the leak had “narrowed it down” to about “70 or so” people who had access to the draft, but no names of suspects emerged in her brief report.

The suspect interviews conducted by investigators were at times brief and superficial, according to a person who spoke to the WSJ. The nature of such questions included examples such as, “Did you do it? Do you know anyone who had a reason to do it?” Publicly available information about court employees was used by investigators to develop theories, one person said. Report: Vasectomies in High Demand Following Roe v. Wade Reversal

Doctors say they are seeing a “drastic increase in vasectomies” following the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe v. Wade and return the issue of abortion back to the states, Yahoo News reported on Thursday.

“There was an increase of basically 100 percent in the number of vasectomies from the moment Roe v. Wade was overturned,” Dr. Esgar Guarin, the co-founder of SimpleVas Medical Clinic, told the outlet.

Guarin, who is a doctor trained in maternal, child, and “reproductive health” in Des Moines, Iowa, said that his office signed up 50 percent of the patients that they would normally have for vasectomies in a month “within only 48 hours” of the high court’s decision on June 24, 2022. The report noted that typically, around 500,000 vasectomies are performed every year in the United States as a form of “permanent birth control for men.”

Planned Parenthood’s office in St. Louis has also noticed an increase in vasectomies, telling Live Action in November of 2022 that the pro-abortion organization has “seen an increasing number of male-bodied people coming and requesting this service.” (Read more from “Report: Vasectomies in High Demand Following Roe v. Report: At Least 10,000 Fewer Legal Abortions Have Occurred Since Overturn of Roe

At least 10,000 fewer legal abortions occurred in the U.S. in the two months following the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, according to a report by FiveThirtyEight.

The study, compiled by the pro-abortion non-profit #WeCount, part of the Society for Family Planning (SFP), noted that 10,570 fewer abortions took place in July and August than estimates from before the overturn of Roe.

The data compared the number of legal abortions across each state from April through August to illustrate the difference before and after the Supreme Court’s ruling. States that enacted more restrictive abortion laws in the wake of the decision saw a drop of over 22,000 abortions, while states that did not saw an aggregate increase of about 12,000.

Lisa Murkowski Supports Codifying Roe at Debate

RINO Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) voiced her support for codifying Roe v. Wade at the Alaskan U.S. Senate debate on Thursday.

“I do support the codification of Roe v. Wade. I recognize that we cannot go backward in time 50 years when it comes to a woman’s right to determine her own reproductive health and health care,” Murkowski said.

Timeline of a Leak: Supreme Court Justices Think Roe Mystery Could Be Solved Soon

It’s been just over five months since a Supreme Court draft opinion signaling the overturning of Roe v. Wade leaked to the media — with no signs as to where it originated from.

The May leak of the draft opinion to Politico, which signaled the high court was poised to vote along conservative-liberal ideological lines to overturn Roe, became official when the June 24 opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was released with hardly any changes from the draft.

In the months since the leak, justices have experienced heightened security concerns at their personal homes from pro-abortion rights protesters, coupled with a very real threat made against Justice Brett Kavanaugh in June, when a 26-year-old man came to his Maryland home armed with the intent to kill the justice, according to statements he made in a 911 call.

Justice Elena Kagan provided the latest indicator on Sept. 12 that an update over the investigation into the unprecedented leak could come before the end of this month, according to her comments during a planned discussion at Temple Emanu-El’s Streicker Center with Judge Alison J. Nathan, a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Kagan said she suspected none of her colleagues were privy to the efforts of the leak investigation “except for the chief justice maybe, about what the investigation has turned up if anything,” referring to Chief Justice John Roberts calling on the Supreme Court marshal to look into the origins of the leaked draft opinion in a statement on May 3. Womp-Womp: New Poll Is Bad News for the Baby Killers

It’s unsurprising that Democrats face an uphill battle in voter enthusiasm as November’s midterms approach — just look at the party’s top-ranking official, President Biden. But among issues that elected Democrats and mainstream pundits have insisted will close the enthusiasm gap, the opposite is turning out to be true.

According to new polling from The Washington Post, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs — which overturned Roe v. Wade and returned decisions on protecting the unborn to Americans and their elected representatives — has not become a rallying call that’s fired up Democrats to get out and vote. To put a point on the situation, WaPo writes in their piece on the poll that “those who support abortion access are less certain they will vote this fall.”

On the other side of the equation, pro-life Americans are turning out to be even more motivated to vote in the 2022 midterm elections, likely because the push to overturn Roe was always about giving Americans a voice — via their vote — in the discussion about what protections should be in place to protect the lives and rights of the unborn. Now that Roe is gone, the voices of pro-life Americans, especially those who list the right to life as a major or single-issue for which they vote, will be heard and matter when it comes to protecting life for the first time in decades this November.

Here’s the gist of what The Post’s poll found:

Those who reject the idea that the court’s ruling is a loss for women are 18 percentage points more likely to express certainty they will vote in the midterms — 70 percent compared with 52 percent of those who do see such a loss.

After Roe Decision, There’s an Increased Interest in Sterilization Procedures

After the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobb decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the … right to have an abortion, many are reconsidering their birth control and pregnancy prevention methods — and some may be considering long-term, permanent options, doctors say.

In the weeks since the Supreme Court’s decision, requests for sterilization procedures — generally, vasectomies and tubal ligations — have reportedly increased in Texas, Florida, California and Iowa, among other states.

Doctors we talked to in the Triangle are seeing an increase in requests for the procedures, too.

Dr. Amy Bryant, an OB-GYN with UNC Health, told The News & Observer that she received three or four requests for tubal ligation procedures within the past week — an increase from the requests she would normally only receive “every once in a while.”

Bryant said that, considering the timing of the increased requests in relation to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, she thinks the increase in requests is “definitely due” to the Supreme Court’s decision. (Read more from “After Roe Decision, There’s an Increased Interest in Sterilization Procedures” HERE)

A Servicewoman Questions How She Can ‘Defend Constitution’ With Roe Overturned

A servicewoman took to TikTok after Roe v. Wade was overturned to vent her anger over the decision.

“How am I supposed to swear to support and defend the Constitution and a country that treats its women like second-class citizens?” @rahasenfratz said in a 3-minute video.

The TikTok user, identified by the New York Post as an Army medic, went on to say that the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe in the case known as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization will “ruin” the careers of some female service members.

Michael Knowles, political commentator for The Daily Wire, shared the video on Twitter and asked: “Has the girl who publicly questioned her loyalty to America after Dobbs been fired from the military yet?”
