‘I’m Not Doing That’: DeSantis Definitively Rules Out Rumored Next Political Move On Private Call

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) shot down calls for him to become former President Donald Trump’s vice president after his name was floated for the position.

In a private call with supporters obtained by the Washington Examiner, DeSantis shared his thoughts on the 2024 race as well as his political future. When asked who he believed would be the best Republican vice president, the Florida governor took the opportunity to swat down calls for him to be Trump’s running mate.

“People were mentioning me,” DeSantis said. “I am not doing that.”

Directly answering the question, DeSantis didn’t give any names but derisively said there are plenty of candidates “auditioning” for the role.

“I know some people are really actively seeking it. It seems to me, just from watching kind of the body language and stuff, that you have a handful of folks who seem to be auditioning for it,” he said. Trump Responds to DeSantis Endorsement: Uniting Forces to Take On Biden in 2024

Former President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude and honor upon receiving the endorsement of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently suspended his 2024 presidential campaign. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Trump stated, “Very honored to have his endorsement,” and emphasized the importance of unifying behind the common goal of defeating President Joe Biden.

“I look forward to working together with him to beat Joe Biden, who is the worst and most corrupt president in the history of our country,” Trump added, underlining the shared objective of challenging the incumbent president.

DeSantis formally announced his withdrawal from the presidential race through a video statement on X, citing a lack of a clear path to victory. The Florida governor declared, “It is clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance.” Despite past disagreements on issues like the coronavirus pandemic and the elevation of Anthony Fauci, DeSantis asserted that Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden.

The Trump campaign also released a statement in response to DeSantis’s endorsement, expressing gratitude for the support from the Florida governor and other former presidential candidates. With the New Hampshire primary approaching, the campaign called for unity among Republicans to rally behind Trump and defeat what they referred to as “Crooked Joe Biden” and his “disastrous presidency.”

Notably, calls for unity within the GOP have been growing, with figures like former presidential candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott encouraging the party to coalesce behind Trump. Scott asserted that the race is essentially over, urging the Republican Party to focus on one goal – eliminating Joe Biden by electing Donald Trump.

However, not everyone within DeSantis’s circle is embracing the endorsement. Influencers associated with the Florida governor expressed disappointment, with some posting critical messages and indicating reluctance to unite behind Trump.

WATCH: DeSantis Exits 2024 Presidential Race, Throws Support Behind ‘Superior’ Candidate Trump

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially suspended his 2024 presidential campaign, making the announcement on the eve of the New Hampshire primary. The decision comes as DeSantis endorses former President Donald Trump, lauding him as a “superior” candidate over the incumbent President Joe Biden.

The 45-year-old Republican governor took to the X social media platform to share a video message with his supporters, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. “Nobody worked harder,” DeSantis declared, emphasizing that his campaign had left no stone unturned. Reflecting on his campaign, he asserted, “I’m proud to have delivered on 100 percent of his promises, and I will not stop now.”

DeSantis acknowledged differences with Trump. However, he underscored that, in his view, Trump stands as a superior alternative to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. “A majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” DeSantis stated, citing the perceived challenges Trump faced during his previous presidency.

The governor voiced concerns over relentless resistance and ongoing legal battles faced by Trump, accusing Democrats of employing “lawfare” to undermine the former president. “While I’ve had disagreements with Donald Trump, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden – that is clear,” DeSantis asserted, explaining his decision to throw his support behind the former president.

In a bold statement, DeSantis expressed the need for a departure from the “old Republican guard of yesteryear,” indicating a desire for a shift in the party’s direction. He took a swipe at fellow Republican Nikki Haley, labeling her as representing “warmed-over corporatism.”

DeSantis’s exit from the presidential race follows his second-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, where he secured 20.1% of the vote. The decision comes just days after the Iowa caucuses and sets the stage for a potentially dramatic realignment within the Republican Party as it navigates the political landscape leading up to the 2024 election.

DeSantis, Haley Spent $72M Combined in Iowa to Place Second, Third

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spent a combined $72 million in Iowa to place second and third in the Iowa Republican caucuses.

The massive amount of money spent on losing Iowa indicates how strong former President Donald Trump’s grassroots support is in the state.

By the numbers, Haley spent two million more than DeSantis — the most out of any candidate. Both amounted to more than half the total $123 million in ads between the Republican candidates since Monday.

Below are the campaigns and outside group ad spending for Republican primary candidates in Iowa since January 1, 2023, CNN reported:

Pro-Haley: $37 million
Pro-DeSantis: $35 million
Pro-Trump: $18.3 million
All others: $33.2 million

DeSantis: Trump Is Not Pro-Life — He Flip-Flopped on the Sanctity of Life

Republican 2024 presidential hopeful Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said Thursday on a CNN Town Hall that his rival for the nomination, former President Donald Trump, was not pro-life. . .

Host Kaitlan Collins said, “Do you think Donald Trump is not pro-life?”

DeSantis said, “Of course not. I mean, when you’re saying that pro-life protections are a terrible thing, by definition you are not pro-life. When you say that you want to have a federal law at 18 weeks or 20 weeks that would override a state like Iowa that has enacted pro-life protections, that would mean more abortions, not less abortions. Because very few abortions are happening that late anyway. So, he has flip-flopped on this issue. I don’t know if it’s because of political convenience or this is where he always believed in. But here’s the thing, some issues are pretty fundamental. How do you flip-flop on something like the sanctity of life?” (Read more from “DeSantis: Trump Is Not Pro-Life — He Flip-Flopped on the Sanctity of Life” HERE)

DeSantis, Ramaswamy Respond To Haley’s Remarks On Slavery And The Civil War

Two Republican presidential candidates criticized former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley on Thursday for remarks that she made this week about slavery and the Civil War.

Haley, who is also running for president, faced backlash Wednesday night after she answered a voter’s question on the cause of the Civil War without mentioning slavery.

“Well, don’t come with an easy question, right?” Haley said. “I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do.” . . .

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis responded to Haley’s “incomprehensible word salad” while on the campaign trail in Iowa, saying that it showed she “is not a candidate that’s ready for primetime.”

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy responded to Haley’s remarks in a series of posts on X, writing: “The shocking part isn’t that Nikki failed to mention slavery. It’s that she failed to mention the 10th amendment. When you try to be everything to everyone, you’re nothing to anyone. A perfect puppet for the corrupt establishment.”

Ron DeSantis Says He Will Not Follow Ramaswamy’s Lead and Withdraw His Name From Colorado Ballot

Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said he will not follow fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s lead and voluntarily withdraw his name from the ballot in Colorado in protest of former President Donald Trump’s name being taken off the ballot.

In an interview on Newsmax, Ron DeSantis was asked if he would do the same.

He responded:

No, I think that’s just playing into the left. I think the case will get overturned by the Supreme Court, but I’ve qualified for all the ballots, I’m competing in all the states, and I’m going to accumulate the delegates necessary. That’s the whole name of the game in this situation, but I do anticipate that decision was political and will get reversed.

‘Satan Has No Place in Our Society’: DeSantis Says He’ll Donate to Legal Defense of Man Who Toppled Baphomet Statue

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced that he will donate to the legal defense fund for the man who toppled a Baphomet statue placed in the Iowa Capitol by the Satanic Temple Iowa.

“Satan has no place in our society and should not be recognized as a ‘religion’ by the federal government. I’ll chip in to contribute to this veteran’s legal defense fund,” DeSantis wrote. “Good prevails over evil — that’s the American spirit.”

The governor, who is currently vying for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has previously indicated that he is Roman Catholic.

Michael Cassidy, who “pushed over and decapitated the statue,” and then placed its head in a garbage can, according to a report by the Republic Sentinel, thanked DeSantis for the support.

“My deepest hope is that Americans of all political persuasions can unite and agree that: 1. Jesus Christ is Lord 2. Satan is evil,” the Christian conservative and former Navy F/A-18 Hornet pilot tweeted. ‘Why Don’t You Just Admit That You’re Running?’: DeSantis Presses Newsom on Presidential Aspirations in Fiery Debate

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis pressed Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom on his presidential aspirations for 2024 during a debate on Fox News Thursday.

Newsom has been speculated to run for president either against or in place of President Joe Biden as many Democrats have voiced the desire for alternatives in 2024. After months of feuding with DeSantis, who is vying for the GOP presidential nomination, over their respective states’ policies, the Florida governor asked Newsom to admit that he is going to make a White House Bid himself during “The Great Red vs. Blue State” debate with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. . .

“Is Joe Biden paying you tonight” Hannity interjected. “I thought this was state vs. state?”

“But it’s about the United States of America, I thought this guy was running for president of the United States. If you’re running for —” Newsom responded.

“You are too, you just won’t admit it — you won’t admit it. You will not admit it. Why don’t you just admit that you’re running?” pressed DeSantis. (Read more from “‘Why Don’t You Just Admit That You’re Running?’: DeSantis Presses Newsom on Presidential Aspirations in Fiery Debate” HERE)

WATCH: GOP Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Criticizes DeSantis, Claims Governor Was ‘Exploited’ Into 2024 Presidential Run

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy gave his opinion on fellow GOP contender and Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his 2024 campaign on Friday.

Ramaswamy claimed on the “PBD Podcast” that even though DeSantis had “mega amounts of money” backing him, he couldn’t gain momentum in the GOP primary, causing donors to label him a “lost cause” and leaving them in search of another candidate to support — such as former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Ramaswamy also said that he thinks DeSantis did not want to run for president, but was pushed into it.

“I actually think he was a good governor. I think he’s a good dude,” Ramaswamy said.

“He’s been exploited. I think that’s actually what’s happened here is, this man would have just continued being the governor of this state, and probably done a pretty good job of it,” Ramaswamy continued.
