‘People Just Can’t Know That’: Senator, Staff Exposed in Undercover Sting Video

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas released a new undercover video Monday night showing Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and her staffers expressing support for radical gun control measures that they admit she can’t state publicly.

The video shows McCaskill and her staff admitting that she supports banning semi-automatic weapons, bump stocks, high-capacity magazines, along with supporting other far-left policies.

Rob Mills, who works on McCaskill’s campaign, says in the video that McCaskill can’t be open about her policies because “she has a bunch of Republican voters” and “that could hurt her ability to get elected.”

Nicolas Starost, who also works McCaskill’s campaign, says in the video that former President Barack Obama isn’t campaigning for McCaskill because she doesn’t want to be cast as too far-left, even though she believes in the same policies that Obama does.

State Senator Who Said She Hoped Trump Would Be Assassinated Is Now Making Crazy Comments About Slavery

Missouri state senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal called for reparations for former slaves on Tuesday, and took a swipe at her own party’s US Senator in the same breath.

While declaring there’s “no difference” between white Democrats and Republicans, Chappelle-Nadal said that “neither one of them give a heck about the black community, only the votes.”

Chappelle-Nadal spoke from the Senate floor, saying that she listens to the needs of her constituents who aren’t benefitting from tax cuts. She also said the black children in her district are at a disadvantage; and the senator believes reparations would help, even though she recognizes legislation supporting it would likely never pass.

Recalling her own ancestors who were slaves in the state, Chappelle-Nadal pleaded: “In Boone County, Missouri, in Callaway County, Missouri what my family contributed to making the state what it is today is incredible, and my family deserves way more than what it is getting today.”

She went on to say she would like US Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) to call for reparations, and added that people in her district see McCaskill as a Republican. (Read more from “State Senator Who Said She Hoped Trump Would Be Assassinated Is Now Making Crazy Comments About Slavery” HERE)

Former Senator Exposes ‘Goal’ of Majority in Washington

Sixteen U.S. senators have now been serving in the Senate at least 20 years. Seven of them have been serving for at least 30 years, while two, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., have logged at least 40 years in the upper chamber.

Meanwhile, over in the House of Representatives, 71 current congressmen have served at least 20 years. Sixteen of them, including top Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, have held their seats for at least 30 years. Two members have spent more than 40 years in the lower chamber, and one, Democrat John Conyers of Michigan, has logged 52 years in the House. This is in the chamber where members must stand for re-election every two years.

Former Sen. Tom Coburn, who served six years in the House and 10 more in the Senate before retiring of his own accord, would like to abolish the “career politician” by instituting term limits.

“Our founders never intended for people to serve lengthy, lengthy terms in office,” Coburn said during a recent appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show “Caravan to Midnight.” “As a matter of fact, the only person at the Constitutional Convention who was against term limits was Alexander Hamilton. But they didn’t think they needed it; they called it rotation in office. And, of course, they were right until Congress fixed itself to where it’s the decider of everything, along with the Supreme Court and executive branch, and individuals in this country no longer have the power.

“And so, instead of Washington telling us what to do, what I would like to see is the American people start telling Washington what to do.” (Read more from “Former Senator Exposes ‘Goal’ of Majority in Washington” HERE)

Former U.S. Senator, GOP Presidential Candidate Dies at 73

Fred Thompson, a former U.S. senator from Tennessee, GOP presidential candidate, Watergate attorney and actor who starred on the television drama “Law and Order,” died on Sunday in Nashville. He was 73.

Mr. Thompson died after a recurrence of lymphoma, according to a prepared statement issued by the Thompson family. Mr Thompson, who had recently purchased a house in Nashville to return to Tennessee, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2004.

“It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, husband, father, and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville surrounded by his family,” the Thompson family’s statement reads.

“Fred once said that the experiences he had growing up in small-town Tennessee formed the prism through which he viewed the world and shaped the way he dealt with life,” his family said. “Fred stood on principle and common sense, and had a deep love for and connection with the people across Tennessee whom he had the privilege to serve in the United States Senate. He enjoyed a hearty laugh, a strong handshake, a good cigar, and a healthy dose of humility. Fred was the same man on the floor of the Senate, the movie studio, or the town square of Lawrenceburg, his home” . . .

Standing at least 6 feet, 5 inches with a booming voice, Mr. Thompson and his larger-than-life persona played a role in several key moments that shaped the U.S. and Tennessee political landscape. (Read more from “Former U.S. Senator, GOP Presidential Candidate Dies at 73” HERE)

Senator: ‘There’s No Such Thing as Obamacare’ (+video)

“Two points if I may, sir,” says Fox host Chris Wallace. “One, then why is Harry Reid saying he’s not going to allow a vote on the fixes? And, two, speak directly and briefly, becase we’re about to run out of time, to Senator Barrasso’s comment that a lot of doctors, a lot of hospitals are being excluded by what Obamacare is offering.”

Senator: Probe of Secret Service Prostitution Scandal Raises Doubts about IG’s Independence

A Republican senator is raising questions about whether there was “improper contact” between the former general counsel and the acting inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security in its review of the Secret Service’s 2012 prostitution scandal.

Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, ranking Republican on the Senate Homeland Security subcommittee on contracting oversight, said at a hearing last week that “troubling aspects” of the review conducted by Homeland Security’s acting Inspector General Charles Edwards have led to questions about the IG’s independence.

Government sources familiar with a bipartisan investigation of Mr. Edwards conducted by Mr. Johnson and Sen. Claire McCaskill, Missouri Democrat and chairwoman of the subcommittee, say that Ms. McCaskill is steering clear of the matter, and that the Obama administration refuses to cooperate with the probe.

Mr. Johnson’s remarks came during a confirmation hearing for a nominee to replace John Sandweg, former general counsel at Homeland Security and a close ally of former Secretary Janet A. Napolitano, who appointed Mr. Sandweg as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement this summer.

“I’m concerned because I think we’ve seen what I would believe is improper contact between the inspector general and the general counsel’s office of Homeland Security,” Mr. Johnson said. “I’m trying to figure out what that wall of separation really ought to be to maintain the independence of the inspector general.”

Pro-Wrestler May Have RINO Senator from Tennessee in his Sights

Glenn Jacobs, the seven-foot-tall professional wrestler better known as Kane, just might be the next Republican senator from Tennessee.

The former WWE world champion (and uncompensated Daily Caller columnist) is already being touted by Tennessee tea-party groups as the man who can beat moderate GOP Sen. Lamar Alexander in 2014.

“It’s well known that Lamar Alexander is considered by most as a RINO (Republican In Name Only),” reads a late-May statement from the Tennessee Alliance of TEA Party & Liberty Groups. “If Mr. Jacobs actually announces his candidacy against Alexander, with such a famous name known around the world, this would be a prime situation for ALL of the Tennessee TEA Parties to strongly support his candidacy.”

Jacobs insists he has “no plans to run at this point.” But, at the same time, he is not prepared to rule it out.

Grassley: Democratic Senator Baucus Retiring Because of Obamacare Trainwreck

Photo Credit: Gage SkidmoreDemocratic senator Max Baucus is retiring because he is “fed up” with the Affordable Care Act, according to his Republican colleague Chuck Grassley. Speaking at Friday night’s Lincoln Day dinner in Iowa, Grassley told the audience the Montana senator is leaving office ”because he’s so fed up with the possibility of the implementation of Obamacare being a train wreck.”

Baucus, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, played a key role in writing the 2010 law.

Grassley said that dissatisfaction with the health-care bill exists across party lines, describing a “bipartisan coalition in Washington” that considers the implementation of the law a disaster.

Republican U.S. Senator Decides To Quit

Photo Credit: WNDSen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., who grew up on a farm and had been accumulating influence as part of the Senate banking and agriculture committees, has stunned supporters by announcing that he will retire in January 2015.

He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2008 after terms as Nebraska’s governor and the nation’s agriculture secretary. He had also served on the appropriations and veterans affairs committees.

On his website he explains how he was successful in fighting back against one of the provisions of Obamacare, the president’s keynote legislation that essentially sets up a national decision-making process for health care issues.

“After hearing from businesses in Nebraska about a provision in President Obama’s health law that would have created a paperwork nightmare for job creators, Johanns began an effort that gained bipartisan momentum and the 1099 reporting mandate was repealed.”

Politico speculates that he was “considered in a strong position for re-election next year.”

Does EMILY’s List really know what women want?

A few minutes before 3:00 PM last Thursday, the always-cheerful gals over at EMILY’s List (Early Money Is Like Yeast) sent out yet another e-mail blast begging for money. Since their “proven” track record is so less-than-stellar they opted to use this solicitous rant as an opportunity to address what they have accomplished this year.

They touted and featured some of the 1,300 pro-abortion Democrat women they’ve “trained” these last few months in an effort to excite their strictly pro-abortion base. In the hopes of adding even more to their already deep war-chests they lauded the “political prowess” of this year’s EMILY Listers. What they don’t mention and what becomes embarrassingly apparent every election night is that they should have cut back on the canvas bags and given these poor dears a lesson in the subtleties of concession speeches.

The e-mail that went out to millions of their subscribers notes and emphasizes that these pro-abort broads were made aware of what the American female electorate “really” wants as seen through the pro-abortion prism that is EMILY’s List. They claim to have conducted their own “extensive” polling and discovered that:  “The characteristics women voters seek in their congressional representatives include collaborative, equality, balance, relatable, listeners, nurturing, smaller egos, understanding, … and more feminine qualities.”  Really?!?

Nurturing? This is an organization that raises tens of millions of dollars each election cycle with the singular purpose of giving cash to women who advocate the destruction of their own children. In their warped and disconnected reality nothing says “nurturing” more than supporting partial-birth abortion. They advocate nurturing their unborn daughters by ripping them to shreds. Hamsters have a better “nurture” track record.

Smaller Egos? On June 16, 2009 Brigadier General Michael Walsh was testifying before the Environment and Public Works Committee. During the course of his back and forth with male Senators he referred to them as ”Sir,” which is the most common and respectful way of addressing Senators by members of our Armed Forces. But when he referred to Babs Boxer (D-CA) as “ma’am” (most respectful way the military addresses superiors) her super-sized ego attempted to publicly dress-him-down by insisting he call her “Senator.” You can watch the demure Ms. Boxer’s cringe-worthy exchange with the Brigadier General here.
