Trump Announces Space Force Headquarters Move to Huntsville in Oval Office Speech

President Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed that the U.S. Space Force will officially relocate its headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama, ending a long-running political tug-of-war over the command’s permanent home.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump praised the decision as a victory for national security and American innovation.

“I am thrilled to report that the U.S. Space Command headquarters will move to the beautiful locale of a place called Huntsville, Alabama — forever to be known from this point forward as Rocket City,” Trump said, referencing the city’s longtime nickname tied to its role in U.S. space history.

Huntsville, home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, was initially selected for the Space Command (SPACECOM) headquarters during Trump’s first term. However, that decision was later reversed under the Biden administration, which opted to keep the command in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“We initially selected Huntsville for the SPACECOM headquarters, yet those plans were wrongfully obstructed by the Biden administration,” Trump said Tuesday. “And as you know, they moved them to a different local and today, we’re moving forward with what we want to do.”

Trump emphasized that the move would enhance America’s ability to “defend and dominate the high frontier,” a reference to the strategic importance of space in modern defense planning.

Joining Trump in the Oval Office was Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), who lauded the move as both a strategic and fiscal win. According to Tuberville, the Alabama site is expected to save taxpayers roughly $480 million compared to the Colorado location.

Trump also noted that the new headquarters will be central to the development of his proposed “Golden Dome” integrated missile defense initiative, though few details about the program were provided.

Separately, in a phone interview aired on the Salem Radio Network, Trump warned of dire economic consequences if the Supreme Court rules against his sweeping tariff policies. Speaking with CNN contributor Scott Jennings, Trump said the elimination of his tariffs would be “an economic disaster.”

“Without the tariffs, we are a different country entirely. We will be abused by other countries. We will be laughed at,” Trump said. “If the Supreme Court for any reason strikes down my tariffs, we’re going to be in very, very serious financial trouble.”

Trump defended the tariffs not only as a revenue tool but also as a key bargaining chip in international negotiations. “It’s the power to negotiate,” he said. “Because I could say, ‘If you do that, then I’m going to charge you tariffs on that.’”

Space Force Base Commander Fired After Astonishing Email About JD Vance Surfaces

The officer in charge of a US Space Force base in Greenland was stripped of her command after she sent out a mass email that distanced herself from statements by Vice President JD Vance and the Trump administration days after his visit last month.

The Space Force announced late Thursday that it removed Col. Susannah Meyers as leader of Pituffik Space Base “for loss of confidence in her ability to lead.”

“Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially as it relates to remaining nonpartisan in the performance of their duties,” the Space Operations Command’s statement read.

Meyers, who assumed control of the 821st Space Base Group in July 2024, fired off a message to the troops in her command stating that the views discussed by Vance during his visit on March 28 “are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base.”

“[I] spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you,” she wrote to her subordinates in the email obtained by Military.com and verified by the Space Force. GOP Governor Sounds Alarm on Biden Admin’s Proposal for Air National Guard, Space Force

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott opposed a proposal that could shift members of the Air National Guard to roles in the Space Force without the consent of their respective governors.

In a letter to President Biden, Abbott, who has clashed with the commander in chief on a number of matters, said the proposal is an “intolerable threat” to the National Guard.

“That proposal would give the Secretary of the Air Force unilateral authority to transfer Air National Guard units to the Space Force — without first obtaining gubernatorial consent,” Abbott wrote in the May 3 letter. . .

The Republican governor argued the measure would sideline governors as the commanders in chief of the National Guard in each state and U.S. territory.

“By departing from this sensible arrangement, and allowing the Secretaries to dismantle National Guard units on a whim, Legislative Proposal 480 would set a dangerous precedent,” he added. “Members of the Texas National Guard must always stand ready to respond to natural disasters, civil disturbances, and cartel activity that threaten our way of life.” (Read more from “GOP Governor Sounds Alarm on Biden Admin’s Proposal for Air National Guard, Space Force” HERE)

Disgusting: US General Attacks States That Pass Pro-Family Legislation

A high-ranking Space Force officer recently condemned what she said were anti-LGBTQ laws passed by state legislatures across the country.

Lt. Gen. DeAnna Burt, deputy chief of space operations, told an audience at a Pentagon Pride celebration that more than 400 have been introduced at the state level since January.

“That number is rising and demonstrates a trend that could be dangerous for service members, their families and the readiness of the force as a whole,” Gen. Burt said.

Such laws can affect the personnel decisions she makes for Space Force service members, including promotions and assignments. While job performance and relevant experience are primary considerations, a potential commander’s “personal circumstances” are also important factors, Gen. Burt said.

“If a good match for a job does not feel ‘safe’ being themselves and performing at their highest potential at a given location, or if their family could be denied critical health care due to the laws in that state, I am compelled to consider a different candidate and (someone who is) perhaps less qualified,” Gen. Burt said. (Read more from “Disgusting: US General Attacks States That Pass Pro-Family Legislation” HERE)

China, Russia Deploying Space Weapons to Attack U.S. Satellites, Forces Warns Space Force Chief

China’s military has deployed 347 satellites, including 35 launched in the past six months, to target U.S. forces in a future conflict, the commander of the Space Force told a Senate hearing on Tuesday.

Space Force Gen. B. Chance Saltzman said Russia is also testing and deploying orbital anti-satellite weapons, extensive cyber capabilities and land-based anti-satellite missiles, electronic jammers and lasers.

China’s more advanced space warfare weapons pose “the most immediate threat” to attacks in space, while less-capable Russian space assets also pose “an acute threat” of attacks or disruptions on U.S. satellites.

Both “are intent on targeting perceived U.S. vulnerabilities and eliminating American advantage in the space domain,” the four-star general told a Senate Armed Services subcommittee on strategic forces hearing Tuesday. “Both expect space to be key to future warfare by enabling long-range precision strikes. Both seek information superiority through disabling an adversary’s space communication and navigation systems.”

Gen. Saltzman said China has been aggressively building space weapons and technology to attack space systems and ground components. Beijing is aiming to become the world’s leading space power by 2045 as part of what Chinese officials have called a “space dream,” deploying lasers that can attack satellite sensors and electronic warfare jammers that can disable GPS satellites and communications satellites. WATCH: Did You See Kamala Harris Trying to Explain Space…to the Space Force?

While on the road in California this week, Vice President Kamala Harris made a stop at Vandenburg Space Force Base north of Los Angeles to announce a new U.S. policy that again kneecaps U.S. defense capabilities when it comes to ensuring foreign threats are able to be deterred or destroyed. . .

Harris also, in the course of her remarks to Space Force Guardians, attempt to explain…space. In a section of her remarks delivered Monday, ones that were reminiscent of her comments on the “significance of the passage of time,” she really went for it:

“I think everyone here recognizes how extraordinary space is,” Harris said. “Whether it is satellites that orbit the earth, humans that land on the moon, or telescopes that peer into the furthest reaches of the universe, space is exciting,” she told the Space Force Guardians who presumably were already aware of what space is. “It spurs our imaginations, and it forces us to ask big questions,” Harris added. “Space, it affects us all — and it connects us all.”

General Who Fired Space Force Commander Rebuked by Judge for Illegalities

The general who fired a Space Force commander for trying to rid the military of Marxism was himself castigated by a military judge in an unprecedented order for intentionally violating the constitutional rights of a serviceman.

Last month, Lt. Gen. Stephen Whiting of the U.S. Space Command relieved Matthew Lohmeier of his duties overseeing missile defense based on a judgment that informing the public about Marxist ideology in the military was dangerous.

But beginning in 2018, while supervising a military prosecution, Whiting violated the due process and rights to a fair trial of an Air Force engineer on three counts of rape that could have resulted in a lifetime prison sentence, according to court documents.

“This court is left to conclude that the United States of America is neither committed to ensuring the accused gets a fair trial nor taking the steps necessary to provide the accused with the relevant discovery to mount his defense,” wrote Judge W. Shane Cohen in a 13-page opinion dated Aug. 22, 2019. “This court is left with few conclusions other than the United States of America is not serious about meeting its legal obligations even when the law demands it.” (Read more from “General Who Fired Space Force Commander Rebuked by Judge for Illegalities” HERE)

Investigation of Ousted Space Force Commander Elevated to Inspector General (VIDEO)

The investigation into the ousting of a Space Force commander who spoke out against Marxism and critical race theory in the military has been elevated to the Department of the Air Force’s Office of Inspector General (IG).

Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek told Fox News on Thursday that the investigation into the removal of Lt. Colonel Matthew Lohmeier from duty was moving up to the IG’s office for review, as the case could have an Air Force-wide impact.

Stefanek also said that the IG’s investigation would take precedence over the one launched by Lohmeier’s superior, Air Force Lt. General Stephen Whiting.

“The Department of the Air Force Inspector General has elevated the review of Lt Col Lohmeier’s actions to DAF-IG level for assessment and investigation, as appropriate,” Stefanek told Fox News. “The decision was made by DAF-IG due to the complexity and sensitivity of the issues under consideration, as well as potential for DAF-wide impact.” . . .

Lohmeier, who was the commander of the 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado, was removed from duty last week after he spoke out against Marxism and critical race theory. Lohmeier’s comments came during the podcast “Information Operation” earlier this month, when he was a guest promoting his self-published book “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military.” (Read more from “Investigation of Ousted Space Force Commander Elevated to Inspector General (VIDEO)” HERE)

Space Force Refuses To Specify Why Commander Was Fired Over Podcast

Officials won’t explain why a Space Force commander was fired after joining a podcast to promote his book about Marxist ideas within the U.S. military.

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier joined L Todd Wood on the “Information Operation” podcast to discuss his book “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military,” on May 7, according to CD Media.

Lohmeier was reportedly told that it was optional for superiors to review his book before its publication, according to Military.com. On Wood’s podcast, Lohmeier spoke about how American institutions, including the military, are embracing concepts like racial and equity training that divide Americans.

Lohmeier was relieved of command on Friday “due to loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead,” a Space Force spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation Monday.

“This decision was based on public comments made by Lt. Col. Lohmeier in a recent podcast,” the spokesperson added. Lohmeier’s comments will be investigated to determine if they “constituted prohibited partisan political activity.”

The Last (And Final) Frontier: Why the Space Force Belongs in Alaska

As the sixth and newest branch of our nation’s military sets out to master the final frontier, it is my belief that Alaska, the Last Frontier, is the clear choice to base this historic mission. Alongside Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz, I have submitted a joint request to station U.S. Space Command here in our nation’s 49th state.

In 1935, Gen. Billy Mitchell, father of the U.S. Air Force, called Alaska the “most important strategic place in the world.” From World War II, in which Alaska was the only place in North America to be invaded, to the depths of the Cold War, where Arctic radar outposts protected against Soviet missile launches, the truth of Mitchell’s claim has been well established.

Anchorage, home to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, is perfectly positioned to carry on this legacy. In addition, our state-of-the-art Pacific Spaceport Complex provides military launch capabilities just a short distance from Anchorage. The facility, run by the publicly owned Alaska Aerospace Corporation, has conducted successful space launches since 1998 and is quickly expanding to accommodate the current commercial space boom.

But Mitchell’s assertion extended beyond the realm of national security. Today, Anchorage serves as North America’s gateway to Asia-Pacific trade. Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, which briefly held the title of “world’s busiest” airport earlier this year, lies within nine hours of 90% of the industrialized world. With a deep-water port that continues to grow in significance as Bering Sea ice recedes, the commercial importance of Anchorage will only increase in the years ahead.
