Suspect Named in ‘Execution-Style’ Killing of Texas Deputy

635764140350261810-Darren-GoforthBy Doug Stanglin and Marco della Cava. Harris County authorities in Texas have a man in custody in Friday’s shooting death of a sheriff’s deputy, Sheriff Ron Hickman said at a press conference Saturday. The suspect, Shannon J. Miles, has a previous criminal history including resisting arrest and disorderly conduct with a firearm. He is being charged with capital murder.

Hickman says the shooting was “unprovoked” and the department is still looking for a motive for the “cold-blooded assassination” of the officer at a Houston-area gas station.

Deputy Darren Goforth, 47, was fatally shot in the back late Friday while filling his patrol car in northwest Harris County. Hickman said ballistics tests showed a match between the weapon used to kill Goforth and a weapon in Miles’ possession.

Hickman, in discussing the shooting with reporters at an earlier press conference, condemned the “very dangerous national rhetoric” about police officers that he said was out of control.

Officials said Miles is the individual captured on surveillance video. He was apprehended, Hickman said, by locating the red Ford pick-up scene on the surveillance video, which was parked near where Miles resided. (Read more from “Suspect Named in ‘Execution-Style’ Killing of Texas Deputy” HERE)

Texas Deputy Killed While Fueling Patrol Car, Authorities Say

By Faith Karimi. A man shot a uniformed sheriff’s deputy “execution-style” while he fueled his patrol car in the Houston area, killing him instantly, authorities said.

Deputy Darren H. Goforth, 47, was returning to his car after pumping gas Friday night.

The gunman walked up from behind him and opened fire for no apparent reason, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said.

When Goforth fell to the ground, the gunman stood over him and shot him some more, authorities said. He died at the scene.

“He was literally gunned down in what appears to be an unprovoked, execution-style killing,” Hickman said. “I have been in law enforcement for 45 years, I have never seen anything this cold-blooded.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Houston We Have a Problem: Trump Tops Cruz in Texas Poll

GettyImages-484326670-1-640x482By Rich Tucker. A new poll hints Sen. Ted Cruz has a bit of a problem in his home state of Texas.

Donald Trump is now the frontrunner there, according to the latest survey. Trump now polls at 24 percent in Texas, roughly what he gets nationally. Cruz drops to second in his home state with 16 percent. Longtime Texas Gov. Rick Perry is a non-factor, polling just 4 percent alongside Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

The poll, commissioned for a group called the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee, was conducted by Gravis Marketing. It’s the first such survey since June, when Trump was just getting into the race. Back then Cruz polled a solid 20 percent, and Perry seemed a threat at home with 12 percent. (Read more from “Houston We Have a Problem: Trump Tops Cruz in Texas Poll” HERE)

Trump Rally Moved to Ladd-Peebles Stadium, Tens of Thousands Expected

By J.B. Biunno and Ashley Knight and Emily DeVoe. With his next campaign stop being in Alabama, it’s only fitting that presidential candidate Donald Trump is going to rally up supporters in a jam-packed football stadium.

City officials have confirmed to News 5 the location for Donald Trump’s pep rally in Mobile on Friday night has been moved to Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It’s the same venue used for the Senior Bowl and University of South Alabama home games.

“It’s due to an overwhelming response,” said Kayla Farnon, spokeswoman for the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office. “More than 30,000 people have been confirmed to attend. “

News 5 is told Trump’s campaign has gone the extra mile to make the event as accommodating as possible. Parking will be free, WAVE shuttles to the stadium will be provided, and there will be concession stands for food and drinks.

Trump’s campaign is fronting most, if not the entire bill for the event, including paying the overtime accumulated by Mobile city workers. (Read more from this story HERE)

Texas Sheriffs Decry Federal Policies: Criminal Aliens Have Free Reins

illegal-aliens-stop-the-invasionTexas Sheriffs, the Lieutenant Governor, and experts in immigration related issues met at the State Capitol on Wednesday to discuss the federal government’s creation of a sanctuary state for criminal aliens through its Priority Enforcement Program (PEP).

Jackson County Sheriff Aj (Andy) Louderback, immediate past president of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, told Breitbart Texas that the federal government’s PEP program “has created a sanctuary state for criminal aliens because it has gutted the immigration system.”

A press conference was held on the crisis facing Texas that was created by the new immigration policies of the federal government. The sheriffs complained that aliens are being brought into the criminal justice system in Texas but are being released into the community because of the federal policies.

In the past, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) could place a 48-hour hold on illegal immigrants when they were wanted on immigration related issues. The PEP program replaced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Secure Communities plan and now that is no longer possible.

The policy was released by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in November, 2014. In January, the program went into effect and Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby exclusively reported leaked training documents detailing how the program would be implemented. Darby dubbed the program, “Catch and Release 2.0.” (Read more from “Texas Sheriffs Decry Federal Policies: Criminal Aliens Have Free Reins” HERE)

Texas Congressman Offers Bill Temporarily Halting Refugee Resettlement

This week, Rep. Babin introduced the Resettlement Accountability National Security Act (H.R. 3314), which places an immediate moratorium on the refugee resettlement program until Congress reauthorizes it with a joint resolution. The idea behind this legislation is to give the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the legislative arm of Congress, time to research the cost and scope of the program so that the people’s representatives can finally audit this unaccountable, costly, and security-challenged program.

America has served as a beacon of freedom for millions of people who have come as refugees since World War II to escape tyranny and seek the American dream. In the past, refugees from Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Southeast Asia – just to name a few – have contributed immensely to our culture and economy.

But in recent years, much like the rest of our immigration system, the refugee resettlement program has become an insidious tool used by the elites to remake American society and burden the states with a huge fiscal drain. Worse, it has in many ways become a refugee resettlement program for thousands of national security risks from predominantly Muslim countries from volatile parts of the world without a proper vetting system in place. With Obama seeking to fundamentally remake America during his final 18 months in office, and with the increasing pressure to bring in more Muslim refugees from Syria, Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) has stepped up to the plate by introducing the first piece of legislation to reinsert the people’s voice into the refugee process.

Every year, America admits roughly 70,000 (the cap since 2013) foreign nationals and grant them green cards under the refugee resettlement program. Our government has brought in a total of 448,463 refugees since FY 2009 and there are still another 24,000 refugees left before the ceiling is reached for this fiscal year. The selection of these refugees are largely influenced by the United Nations and a few bureaucrats in the State Department while the resettlement decisions are placed almost exclusively in the hands of rent-seeking private “charitable” contractors – with little regard for the priorities of the local residents.

In recent years, most of the refugees have come from Somalia, Iraq, Burma, and Bhutan. Those involved in the process have given little thought to the cultural and security issues some local communities might be confronted with in the coming years. Just take a look at the “success story” in the greater Minneapolis area for proof of where this is heading.

America has admitted 135,545 refugees from Iraq alone since FY 2007, according to State Department data. As Conservative Review has noted before, the Iraqi refugee program has been of particular concern because both Shia and Sunnis have claimed persecution in sectarian wars, but America has granted refugee status to elements of both that represent a security risk.

Rep. Babin is right to note that Texas has taken in more refugees than any other state thus far for this fiscal year. By my count, Texas has been the recipient of more refugees than even California since 2011. Shouldn’t the people of Texas have a say in such consequential and transformational decisions?

While it is hard to pull exact data on the religious affiliation of refugees, it is quite evident that in recent years there’s been an explosion in refugees belonging to the Muslim faith. Most of the refugees from Iraq are Muslim, as are almost all of the over 100,000 Somali refugees the U.S. has admitted since 1993. And although Burma is not a predominantly Muslim country, 2,484 of the refugees from there this fiscal year have been Muslim. Also, 94% of Syrians admitted since FY 2013 have been Muslim, and the pace appears to be picking up by the month.

Most tellingly, according to the State Department, Arabic is the most common language spoken by refugees and that has been the case for over a decade. Since FY 2008, 98,370 refugees have been native Arabic speakers and 38,868 have been native Somali speakers.

As if Americans aren’t struggling enough under this economy, in recent years, refugees have increasingly become more of a fiscal burden. According to a memorandum from the Congressional Research Service to the Senate Judiciary Committee, 74.2% of all refugees in 2013 were receiving Food Stamps – up from 50% in 2008. Fifty-six percent received some sort of medical assistance. And according to a 2013 report to Congress from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, an even larger percentage of refugees from Africa and the Middle East were on welfare strong. Among refugees from the Middle East, 91.3% received Food Stamps and 73.1% received Medicaid.

Brian Babin is right to demand a temporary moratorium on the program. There is no reason Americans should continue to incur such societal transformation without representation. Instead of starting out every year with an expectation of admitting 70,000 refugees every year – irrespective of their security, fiscal, or cultural considerations – we should begin with 0. From there, Congress needs to prioritize those who do not represent a true danger AND do not pose a security risk. Among the ruling elites and John Boehner, who controls the floor process, this legislation will be considered appalling. But among the American people, given the terrorism threats and the growing fiscal burden, this is just plain common sense. Mexican Cartels Smuggle Terrorists Into U.S. Through Rural Texas Border Region

Mexican drug cartels are smuggling foreigners from countries with terrorist links into a small Texas rural town near El Paso and they’re using remote farm roads—rather than interstates—to elude the Border Patrol and other law enforcement barriers, according to Judicial Watch sources on both sides of the Mexico-U.S. border.

The foreigners are classified as Special Interest Aliens (SIA) and they are being transported to stash areas in Acala, a rural crossroads located around 54 miles from El Paso on a state road – Highway 20. Once in the U.S., the SIAs wait for pick-up in the area’s sand hills just across Highway 20. Terrorists have entered the U.S. through Mexico for years and in fact, an internal Texas Department of Public Safety report leaked by the media months ago documents that several members of known Islamist terrorist organizations have been apprehended crossing the southern border in recent years.

Now they’re also being smuggled in through border region airfields, according to JW’s civilian, law enforcement and intelligence sources. The renowned Vicente Carrillo Fuentes cartel is using the Horizon Airport (formerly “West Texas Airport”) in El Paso’s lower valley to smuggle SIAs into the U.S. from Mexico, JW’s inside sources say. The facility is convenient because it’s located only 11 miles from El Paso’s central business district yet it’s small enough that security is virtually nonexistent. Texans Organize Operation Counter Jade Helm Surveillance Operation

Hundreds of people have organized a “Counter Jade Helm” surveillance operation across the Southwestern states and in an effort to keep an eye on the contentious military drill that’s sparked many suspicious of Uncle Sam’s intentions.

Eric Johnston, a 51-year-old retired firefighter and sheriff’s deputy who lives in Kerrville, is a surveillance team leader in Texas. He’ll coordinate three groups of volunteers, about 20 folks in total, who hope to monitor the SEALs, Green Berets and Air Force Special Ops in Bastrop, Big Spring and Junction when Jade Helm kicks off on July 15. With media prohibited at the drills, the volunteers could be a main source of information for the highly-anticipate seven-state exercise.

But locations more precise than the towns around which troops will drill remain unknown. For the citizens’ surveillance operation, therein lies the first challenge.

“If a team member sees two Humvees full of soldiers driving through town, they’re going to follow them,” Johnston said. “And they’re going to radio back their ultimate location.”

They aren’t worried about martial law, he said, but feel like they can’t trust the government, and want to make sure the Military isn’t under orders to pull anything funny. (Read more from “Texans Organize Operation Counter Jade Helm to Do This” HERE)

Texas to Take Back $1 Billion in Gold From the Fed‏

Governor Greg Abbott [this week] signed House Bill 483 (Capriglione, R-Southlake; Kolkhorst, R-Brenham) to establish a state gold bullion depository administered by the Office of the Comptroller. The law will repatriate $1 billion of gold bullion from the Federal Reserve in New York to Texas. The bullion depository will serve as the custodian, guardian and administrator of bullion that may be transferred to or otherwise acquired by the State of Texas. Governor Abbott issued the following statement:

“. . .I signed HB 483 to provide a secure facility for the State of Texas, state agencies and Texas citizens to store gold bullion and other precious metals. With the passage of this bill, the Texas Bullion Depository will become the first state-level facility of its kind in the nation, increasing the security and stability of our gold reserves and keeping taxpayer funds from leaving Texas to pay for fees to store gold in facilities outside our state.” (“Texas to Take Back $1 Billion in Gold From the Fed‏”, originally posted HERE)

Federal Court Ruling: Strict Abortion Law in Texas Is Constitutional; May Close All but Seven Clinics Statewide

A federal appeals court upheld strict abortion restrictions was passed by the state of Texas on Tuesday. That decision means that as few as seven abortion clinics could stay open in that state based on those regulations.

According to a report in the Associated Press, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals made a decision that would allow Texas to require abortion clinics to meet “hospital-level” operating standards. The restrictions were approved in 2013 by a Republican-dominated state government.

“Abortion practitioners should have no right to operate their businesses from sub-standard facilities and with doctors who lack admitting privileges at a hospital,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, said.

However, pro-choice groups told the Associated Press that they will appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court, which temporarily halted enforcement of the law last year. Nancy Northrop, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, expressed dismay with the lower court’s decision.

“Not since before Roe v. Wade has a law or court decision had the potential to devastate access to reproductive health care on such a sweeping scale,” Northrop said. “We now look to the Justices to stop the sham laws that are shutting clinics down and placing countless women at risk of serious harm.” (Read more from “Federal Court Ruling: Strict Abortion Law in Texas Is Constitutional” HERE)

Revealed: What Ex-McKinney Cop Did to a Teenage Girl Before Arriving at Pool Party

Cpl. Eric Casebolt, the McKinney, Texas, police officer who resigned after video showed him brandishing his firearm and restraining a 15-year-old black girl on the ground last week, said his emotions ran high, per his attorney . . .

The video which led to Casebolt’s downfall shows him subduing 15-year-old Dajerria Becton to the ground and drawing his firearm when other teenagers approached him during a disturbance call at a pool party, though he never fired. McKinney police chief Greg Conley called his actions “indefensible” and “out of control.”

WFAA described how Bishkin defended his client during the press conference, explaining Casebolt’s day had already taken an “emotional toll” on him before he responded to the disturbance call.

The attorney started the press conference by saying Casebolt let his emotions get the best of him before he answered the disturbance call at the Craig Ranch community pool.

He had already been called to two suicide calls that Friday — one involved having to console the wife of a man who had just ended his life. During the second call, he managed to talk a teenage girl off her parents’ roof.
