Senator Blocks Air Force Colonel’s Promotion Over ‘Divisive’ Woke Policies

When the U.S. Senate unanimously approved 425 military promotions earlier this month, one person was missing from the list: Col. Ben Jonsson, the Air Force officer who espoused controversial views on race and diversity.

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., stepped in to hold Jonsson’s ascension to brigadier general after a 10-month blockade of all military promotions by Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala. When fellow Republicans threatened to join Democrats to circumvent Tuberville by changing Senate rules, the senator withdrew his objection.

As a result, military officers who were singled out for their “woke” views on race, sexuality, and COVID-19 had their promotions swiftly approved Dec. 5—except for Jonsson and about a dozen other high-ranking generals. Senators then voted Thursday to give the promoted military officers retroactive pay for the time they waited.

The Daily Signal first reported in August on Jonsson’s views on diversity, equity, and inclusion—and his endorsement of a book on critical race theory. The story prompted The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project to request and obtain a Defense Department “climate” assessment of during Jonsson’s leadership of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news outlet.)

The assessment included blistering criticism of Jonsson from his subordinates at MacDill, where he served as commander from 2020 to 2022. It paints a picture of his tenure and concerns about his views on DEI and CRT. (Read more from “Senator Blocks Air Force Colonel’s Promotion Over ‘Divisive’ Woke Policies” HERE)

Joe Miller: Murkowski Has Been A ‘Big Part Of Problem’ In DC

Our nation and state are clearly on the wrong path. Alaskans feel it: mounting national debt, steep deficits, social unrest, and an economy that has all but flat-lined.

Unfortunately, Lisa Murkowski has been a big part of the problem, and to borrow a phrase from Ronald Reagan, “I cannot and will not stand by and see this great country destroy itself.”

Murkowski stated earlier this month she “cannot and will not support” Republican nominee Donald Trump for president, meaning she presumably would rather see Hillary Clinton occupy the Oval Office.

As Chief Executive, Clinton will fill the Supreme Court and the rest of the federal bench with liberal justices, while taking America further down President Obama’s road to ruin.

During the last session of Congress, Murkowski voted with President Obama 72 percent of the time, making her the most liberal “Republican” senator up for re-election.

Because of her votes in Congress, the senator received an “F” rating from Conservative Review coming in below liberal New York Democrat Charlie Rangel.

Murkowski also garnered failing grades from Heritage Action and FreedomWorks. Family Research Council also gave her an “F” and National Right To Life, did so as well during the last session of Congress.

Meanwhile, NARAL Pro-Choice America recognized Murkowski as being an abortion supporter, giving her an 80 percent rating for her votes in 2014. Just this past December, Murkowski offered legislation, along with Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, seeking to block Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.

This is not the record of the “Conservative Voice for Alaska” Lisa Murkowski claims to be in campaign ads.

Despite being from the Last Frontier, “Murkowski acts like a Republican from New Jersey,” conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin charged on his program a few weeks ago when he endorsed my candidacy.

Murkowski’s liberal, big government credentials are long-standing. While serving as a state legislator, she co-sponsored legislation to take part of your PFD and use it to fund state government and also voted to institute a state income tax.

Earlier this year, she suggested that your PFD should be on the table as a possible solution to the government’s spending addiction.

Her record in Washington on issues that specifically impact Alaska is no better. The senator voted to confirm anti-gun Attorney General Eric Holder and anti-development, radical environmentalist Sally Jewell to be Secretary of the Interior.

Under Jewell’s leadership, Alaskans saw control of another 100 million acres of their land ceded to the federal government over just the last few months.

Nearly two-thirds of Alaska’s territory is already controlled by the feds, ranking second only to Nevada. Washington, D.C. should not be taking more of our land, it should be relinquishing it, as the Statehood Act (1958) requires.

Murkowski facilitated this most recent land grab in her position as chair of the Senate appropriations subcommittee on the Interior and Environment, when she voted to fund the very program that is responsible for the theft.

If you grant me the honor to serve as your next United States Senator, I’ll fight to protect your interests, not special interests.

The Constitution will be the North Star that guides my decisions.

You have my word that I will stand up to the Establishment, in both parties, and be relentless in the fight to restore our nation to its constitutional foundations, where government is once again the servant, and not the master.

I will fight to rescind all of President Obama’s unconstitutional executive orders, including executive amnesty. Americans shouldn’t lose their jobs or see their pay held down due to cheap, illegal labor.

Further, the administration’s Islamic refugee resettlement must end, unless a means to adequately vet individuals seeking entry can be but in place.

Our foremost liberty is the right to life. I am the only U.S. Senate candidate that has been endorsed by Alaska Right to Life and Alaska Family Action.

The Second Amendment is essential to our liberty, and I will oppose all efforts to thwart this fundamental right. I am the only candidate in the race backed by Gun Owners of America.

As a veteran (endorsed by Combat Veterans for Congress) who has used Veterans Administration medical services, I will be tireless in ensuring our nation keeps its promises to those who have served our nation in uniform.

It is time for Alaskans to take control of our destiny. With courage and hard work, the fortunes of America and Alaska can turn again. I believe a return to constitutional government can restore the nation we know and love.

I would be honored to have your vote on November 8th.

Lisa Murkowski and Her SuperPAC’s PFD Grab Election Scam

Long before Alaska’s current fiscal crisis, Lisa Murkowski was an advocate of raiding the Permanent Fund for State expenditures. Even after 83% of Alaskans voted to stop the PFD Grab, Murkowski either sponsored or voted for three separate raids on the PFD.

When Lisa Murkowski decided to mount a 2010 general election challenge to the Republican nominee she promised to support, a SuperPAC called Alaskans Standing Together was formed.

The group was led by numerous Alaska-based corporations, including GCI, Unicom, Jim Jansen (owner of Lynden Transport), and other Alaska corporations. These corporations poured more than $1.8 million into the six-week effort to stop Republican nominee Joe Miller and assassinate his character.

No less than $575,000 of those funds came directly from leadership and corporate sponsors of the Alaska’s Future campaign that spent millions to convince State leaders to steal $666 million of your Permanent Fund earnings, costing every Alaskan more than $1,000 of their 2016 PFD.

Also playing along with the scam was the entire leadership structure of the Republican-controlled Alaska State Legislature, including Senate President Gary Stevens and Speaker of the House Mike Chenault.

Here’s one of the lying ads from 2010:

In retrospect, that effort was even more extraordinary than it appeared at the time. The case made by Murkowski and her supporters in 2010 was that Joe Miller’s economic plan would collapse Alaska’s economy and precipitate a state financial crisis that would end in the imposition of a State income tax and a PFD Grab. This was done with exactly zero evidence for such a claim. It was a lie, flat-out.

What made the campaign scam even more incredible was Speaker Chenault’s top staffer, Tom Wright, appearing in a Lisa Murkowski campaign ad claiming that Joe Miller was “so off the wall that the direction he wants to take us will bankrupt Alaska.”

Here’s that lying ad:

Yet Speaker Mike Chenault and Tom Wright, with a direct hand in every State budget since 2005, have actually presided over the bankrupting of Alaska, resulting in the theft of half of every Alaskan’s PFD and proposals for a whole array of new taxes and tax increases, including the imposition of a State income tax. It could rightly be said that Mike Chenault, with more influence over the state fiscal situation than any other Alaskan, is the architect of the State’s fiscal crisis.

Make no mistake about it, the Murkowski’s Alaskans Standing Together effort to discredit Joe Miller was no accident. It was a scam. It was executed with willful intent to cover Lisa Murkowski’s long history of support for stealing the PFD to fund big government.

Earlier this year, when Lisa Murkowski affirmed her support for the current PFD grab, the scam had come full circle. Like her father before her, who appointed her to the United States Senate, Murkowski has always been supportive of stealing your PFD to fund big government and special interests.

But she’s not alone. Many of the same players who supported her election scam in 2010 are now both funding Alaska’s Future campaign to steal the PFD, and Senator Murkowski’s current campaign for re-election.

It’s time to send this den of thieves packing, and it starts on November the 8th with rejecting Lisa Murkowski.

Radio Talk Show Host Lars Larson Endorses Joe Miller for U.S. Senate

Anchorage, Alaska. October 4, 2016 — On his program on Monday evening, nationally syndicated talk show host Lars Larson endorsed Libertarian candidate Joe Miller for U.S. Senate in Alaska.

“One of the last places in the world you’d expect to find a RINO Republican would be Alaska and yet there is one there named Lisa Murkwoski,” said Larson.

He continued, “And the man who is running to beat Lisa Murkowski and replace her in the senate is a guy I feel very strongly about, Joe Miller.”

Miller agreed with Larson’s assessment about Murkowski. “She’s wrong on every conservative plank almost of the Republican Party. In fact, I align far closer to that than she does. It’s one of the reasons we had such a push to get into the race from Republicans,” said Miller.

After a member of the Alaska Republican Party’s Central Committee was expelled for openly backing Joe Miller over Murkowski, five others stepped down in order to do so. (Listen to some of them speak about their decision in the radio ad below.)

Miller has also been endorsed by conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin, Alaska Right to Life, Gun Owners of America, Combat Veterans for Congress, and has the backing of the Alaska Republican Assembly.

Libertarian Joe Miller Blasts Lisa Murkowski for Yet Another Dereliction of Duty

Anchorage, Alaska. September 30, 2016 – Alaska Libertarian nominee Joe Miller blasted Lisa Murkowski on Friday for voting to fund the government again without any meaningful concessions from the Obama Administration.

“It’s dereliction of duty,” said Miller. “Thursday’s vote to give President Obama a blank check with no accountability is exactly why we need to replace incumbents like Lisa Murkowski. There is simply no pushback from our federal delegation. It’s really sad.”

Democrats and Republicans alike have corrupted the process and relinquished their Constitutional authority to the Executive Branch.

According to Conservative Review:

“This government funding bill funded all aspects of the federal government from October 1 through December 9, 2016. Absent from this budget bill was any sort of meaningful limitations on a single illegal, abusive, or harmful executive action taken by President Obama.

“In fact, this spending bill funded every major policy priority of the Obama administration.

“Absent from the bill were limitations or reforms to Obamacare, Planned Parenthood funding, Obama’s transgender bathroom mandate on the states, sanctuary cities, unconstitutional amnesty, or anything resembling a spending reduction or fiscal responsibility to address our $20 trillion debt.”

Miller concluded, “Murkowski can come home and talk about federal overreach all she wants, but it’s all meaningless drivel when she votes to fund every illegal and unconstitutional executive mandate perpetrated on the American people by this Administration. She has abandoned her oath of office.”

New Poll Shows Miller Within Single Digits Of Murkowski

Anchorage, Alaska. September 28, 2016 — A new poll released this week finds Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller within single digits of incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Alaska.

The People’s Pundit Daily tracking poll surveyed 317 likely Alaskan voters and found Murkowski with 38 percent, to Miller’s 30 percent, while Democrat Ray Metcalfe garnered 13 percent and 19 percent remained undecided.

Not included in the poll was left-leaning Independent senate candidate Margaret Stock.

A poll conducted in late August, prior to Miller’s entry into race, had Murkowski at 56 percent to Metcalfe’s 12 percent and Margaret Stock’s 5 percent. In other words, the senator has seen a significant drop-off since Miller entered the field.

Though Alaska is notoriously difficult to poll, Metcalfe’s consistent numbers in both surveys bolster the results as giving at least a rough picture of where the race stands.

It should be noted that Alaska has a strong conservative base, as evidenced by the Republican presidential primary results in March.

Sen. Ted Cruz, won the state taking 36 percent of the vote, followed by Donald Trump with 33.5 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio with 15 percent and Dr. Ben Carson with 11 percent. In other words, non-establishment Republicans accounted for at least 80 percent of the primary vote total in the state.

Miller’s insurgent candidacy would appear best poised to benefit from the popular anti-establishment sentiment in the country.

“We like where we stand right now,” said Miller campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto. “We are three weeks into this race, and Joe is within single digits of an incumbent U.S. senator who spent millions billing her herself as ‘The Conservative Voice For Alaska’ but having a record of voting with Obama more than any other ‘Republican’ senator up for re-election (72 percent of the time during the last Congress).”

“I believe when Alaskans learn that record, many of those undecided voters will move into the Joe Miller column,” he added.

He supports free people, free markets, federalism, the Constitutional right to life, the 2nd Amendment, religious liberty, American sovereignty, and a strong national defense.

Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin Endorses Joe Miller For U.S. Senate

Fairbanks, Alaska. September 28, 2016 — Family Research Council Executive Vice President and former Delta Force Commander Lieutenant General (Ret.) William G. “Jerry” Boykin announced his endorsement of Joe Miller for U.S. Senate on Wednesday, describing the Alaskan as a “rock solid” conservative with whom he is “100 percent” in alignment.

“I am supporting Joe Miller. I believe in Joe,” Boykin stated, adding he is “a strong conservative on issues of national security, smaller government and fiscal constraint, and social issues like life and family. On all the core issues that conservatives hold dear, Joe is rock solid.”

“A West Point graduate, Joe has served his nation in the uniform of a United States Army officer, making him one of a dwindling number of leaders in America to have done so,” the retired three-star general said. “As a dedicated father and devoted husband, Joe embraces the family values that will help keep America strong.”

Miller responded to the backing of the renowned military and conservative leader saying, “I am deeply honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of a man whom I respect so deeply and who has served our country with such distinction.”

He added, “I share the general’s assessment that our nation is at a critical juncture, and new leadership is desperately needed in Washington, grounded in America’s founding constitutional principles, in order to restore the security, prosperity and liberty that have been the birthright of all Americans.”

Joe Miller: Alaskans Deserve Debates From U.S. Senate Candidates

September 21, 2016 —  U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller stated on Wednesday he is eager to debate Senator Lisa Murkowski, and the other contenders for the seat she currently occupies,  about the issues vital to the future of Alaska and the country.

“Alaskans are not satisfied with the current direction of our state and nation,” said Miller. “They deserve the opportunity to see the candidates for U.S. senate make their case, and regarding Senator Murkowski, justify her votes, in televised events available to the public at large.”

Murkowski is the most liberal “Republican” up for re-election, having voted with President Obama 72 percent of the time during the last session of Congress.

Multiple local news affiliates are seeking to host televised debates. To date, as far as the Miller campaign has been able to determine, Senator Murkowski has failed to commit to most, if not all, of those debates.

“As has been the case in years past, Alaskans deserve debates in a format that allows for the free exchange of ideas, where candidates will be given the opportunity to directly question each other and offer rebuttals, so the event is not merely a series of unchallenged soundbites,” said Miller

Listen to Joe Miller’s Recent Interview on Fox News Talk Radio – Tom Anderson Show

Screen shot 2014-01-26 at 12.28.30 AMJoe Miller was recently a guest on the Tom Anderson Show on the Fox News Radio, KVNT – Mat-Su Valley (92.5 FM, 1020 AM)

One of the topics covered was the United States fall from the top 10 nations for economic freedom. Having come of age politically in the Reagan era, Miller said it is disconcerting that the United States would be moved from the nations considered “free” economically to now “mostly free.” ObamaCare and the nation’s spending crisis were two important reasons for the downgrade on the Index of Economic Freedom.

Miller advocated repeal of ObamaCare and pointed out he is the only candidate to sign the Repeal Pledge. Regarding healthcare reform, he said the number one problem is the third party payer system. The consumer is out of the decision loop. ObamaCare exacerbates the problem by adding more government regulations and more government dollars. New policies to expand health savings accounts in conjunction with catastrophic healthcare coverage offer the best solution for true reform.

One caller asked Miller his views concerning labor unions. He fully supports the right of people to join a union, if they so choose, but no one should be forced into a union as a pre-requisite of employment. Nor should employees have their dues used for political purposes without their consent.

As Ronald Reagan noted in the 1970s, Miller said this is once again no time to fly a banner made of pale pastels, but one of bold colors. The go-along-to-get-along mentality is stealing our freedom and bankrupting America. He offered the recent example of the $1.1 trillion Omnibus spending bill implementing Murray-Ryan as a product of this mentality. The bill increased spending by tens of billions, while having the temerity to cut pay to our military retirees.

If elected, Joe Miller promises to work with true reformers like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul to restore our nation’s liberty and prosperity.

Justice Department Subpoenas of AP Phone Records Unites Left, Right in Opposition to ‘Big Brother’

Photo Credit: J. Scott ApplewhiteThe revelation that the U.S. government used secret subpoenas to pry into Associated Press reporters’ phone records triggered two contradictory reactions in the political world.

“What the subpoenas did was remind the left that the right has reasons to fear big government and remind the right and left of the objectives they share politically,” said Joe Miller, the Alaska conservative who was the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate last year.

For conservatives, the phone-records story fortified their fear that, despite the best of intentions, government by its nature will tend to erode the freedom of the individual — and almost always in the name of protecting the collective good.

That conservative fear is one that liberals tend to regard as verging on paranoia.

Yet this latest Justice Department action — an action that for many on the right confirms long-held concerns about big government — is also, paradoxically, bringing conservatives and liberals together. Both ideologies, after all, share an interest in defending the freedom of the individual.
