Walmart Pulls ‘Disrespectful’ Juneteenth-Themed Ice Cream

Walmart was forced to pull its ice cream commemorating Juneteenth after it was blasted as “disrespectful” and “greedy.”

“Share and celebrate African-American culture, emancipation, and enduring hope,” the ice cream’s label read.

The product, which boasted red velvet and cheesecake flavors, also featured a trademark logo by the word “Juneteenth.”

But the dessert was quickly slammed on social media by critics who accused the retail giant of trying to profit off black people.

Keep On Truckin’: Walmart Offers $110,000 to New Drivers Amid Shortage

Walmart workers who once unloaded trucks now have a chance to drive them.

The nation’s largest retailer has launched a training program that gives employees who work in its distribution or fulfillment centers a chance to become certified Walmart truck drivers through a 12-week program taught by the company’s established drivers.

Walmart, based in Bentonville, Ark., also said it is raising pay for its 12,000 truck drivers. The starting range for new drivers will now between $95,000 and $110,000, according to Walmart spokeswoman Anne Hatfield. The retailer said that $87,500 had been the average that new truck drivers could make in their first year. Walmart Bashes U.S. Senator Challenging Election, Then Hits Panic Button

Walmart took a direct shot at U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., after he confirmed on Wednesday that he would challenge, in a joint session of Congress, Joe Biden’s apparent Electoral College win.

By calling him a “soreloser.”

But it quickly, very quickly, backtracked after his response, which asked the company to apologize for using slave labor, or at least for the “pathetic” wages the megacorporation pays workers “as you drive mom and pop stores out of business.”

It started when Hawley said he would raise objections next month when, during a joint session of Congress, members are supposed to adopt the Electoral College vote total described by the media as giving 306 votes to Biden, and 232 to President Trump.

His objections, and those of several members of the U.S. House, are based on evidence of vote fraud and election manipulation that has appeared in multiple swing states. (Read more from “Walmart Bashes U.S. Senator Challenging Election, Then Hits Panic Button” HERE)

Walmart Pulls Guns, Ammo Displays in U.S. Stores

Walmart Inc. has removed all guns and ammunition from the sales floors of its U.S. stores this week, aiming to head off any potential theft of firearms if stores are broken into amid social unrest.

The retail giant, which sells firearms in about half of its 4,700 U.S. stores, said customers can still purchase guns and ammunition upon request even though they are no longer on display.

“We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers,” a Walmart spokesman said. The company hasn’t decided how long the items will stay out of view, he said.

There have been days of violent protests and looting this week in Philadelphia after police fatally shot a Black man holding a knife in the city Monday.

In a letter to store managers Wednesday, Walmart asked staff to pull guns from shelves “due to the current unrest in isolated areas of the country and out of an abundance of caution.” (Read more from “Walmart Pulls Guns, Ammo Displays in U.S. Stores” HERE)

Desperate Shoppers Say They Can’t Order Groceries for Delivery or Pickup. Amazon and Walmart Are Racing to Meet the Spike in Demand.

Online grocery orders are surging in the US as shoppers increasingly avoid visiting stores, and retailers are racing to keep up with demand.

With the surge in orders, some shoppers are complaining on social media about little or no availability for grocery pickup or delivery. Some say they have given up on trying. Others are refreshing grocers’ websites late at night to try to snag time slots for pickup or delivery as soon as they become available.

In response, leading retailers including Amazon and Walmart are ramping up their online grocery businesses by hiring more workers and adding time slots for delivery and pickup, the companies told Business Insider.

“We are working hard to identify ways to deliver to more customers, like adding more delivery windows throughout the day and hiring over 100,000 positions across the US, enabling us to increase delivery window availability,” an Amazon spokesperson said. “We’ve also accelerated expansion of delivery and pickup from Whole Foods Market, and we’ll continue to expand quickly to reach more customers.” . . .

[Walmart] on Friday extended its grocery pickup and delivery hours to help meet demand after temporarily cutting them back during a sudden sales surge in early-to-mid March. Bombshell Report Says Rod Rosenstein Played Key Role in Killing Criminal Case Against Walmart

After a two-year criminal investigation into Walmart allegedly revealed a widespread practice of dispensing opioids without a legitimate medical purpose, federal prosecutors in Texas were preparing to take the unprecedented step of leveling criminal charges against the world’s largest company. But after a 2018 meeting with top Trump appointees at the Department of Justice, led by then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the prosecutors were first prevented from filing criminal charges, then prevented from pursuing a civil case against company, ProPublica reported Wednesday.

According to the massive report, the prosecutors presented clear evidence showing that Walmart provided opioids that resulted in overdoses throughout the country, even after the company’s pharmacists told Walmart they shouldn’t be filling the scripts because they were being written by doctors who were clearly running “pill mills.” One employee even provided records showing that a doctor in Florida maintained “a list of patients from Kentucky that have been visiting pharmacies in all of central Wisconsin,” sending patients to different Walmart’s across 30 states. . .

After getting the DEA’s acting administrator Uttam Dhillon on board, the prosecutors met with Rosenstein and several other top-level Trump administration appointees at the Department of Justice in Washington.

Joe Brown, then the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, and his team again presented the evidence, explaining that Walmart’s business practice was “akin to dealing heroin”; they implored Rosenstein not to allow it to go on. . .

“Rosenstein’s quip brought the prosecutorial team up short,” the report said. “Not long after, Rosenstein’s assistant entered the room to say he had a call. He left. The prosecutors’ push to persuade Rosenstein to revive the criminal case had failed.” (Read more from “Bombshell Report Says Rod Rosenstein Played Key Role in Killing Criminal Case Against Walmart” HERE)

Man Accused of Licking Walmart Deodorants Charged With Making Terrorist Threat (VIDEO)

Authorities have charged a man accused of licking deodorants in a Walmart store in Missouri during the coronavirus outbreak for making a terroristic threat.

Authorities charged Cody Lee Pfister, 26, after they found what they said was a video of a man licking the items in the Walmart store.

A video posted on social media shows a man saying to the camera, “Who’s scared of the coronavirus? Don’t touch your mouth” before licking the line of deodorants on the store shelf.

The City of Warrenton, Missouri’s, Police Department released a statement Monday that said “a local resident who took a video of themselves licking the merchandise after making a ‘Corona Virus’ statement at Walmart and posting it to social media has been taken into custody.”

The Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office then charged Pfister with making a terrorist threat in the second degree, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. (Read more from “Man Accused of Licking Walmart Deodorants Charged With Making Terrorist Threat (VIDEO)” HERE)

WATCH: Police Officer Pays for Hungry Shoplifters’ Groceries

Field Training Officer Kenneth Martin was named “Employee of the Month” by his department for an act of compassion toward a desperate pair of would-be thieves.

Martin was one of two officers called to a Fort Smith Walmart for the apprehension of a small family of shoplifters. A husband, wife, and their young children had been caught trying to steal food from the international retail chain. While the man was arrested, Martin released the mother to take her children home.

That simple act of mercy might have been enough, but the Arkansas policeman was not satisfied to break even in front of hungry children in the dregs of winter. The officer’s own body camera captured his answer: “Their stealing food and they’ve got kids,” Martin said. “I have to take him to jail, but I don’t have to make the kids think I’m an ******.”

Did Walmart’s CEO Forget About These Armed Heroes Who Stopped Massacres at His Stores?

By Townhall. Earlier today Walmart CEO Doug McMillon officially announced a number of firearms and ammunition will no longer be sold at stores nationwide. The statement was quite incoherent, but here it is. . .

Just last month an armed citizen became a hero after stopping a mass shooting at a Walmart in Missouri. . .

Last year, an armed citizen stopped a shooting spree in Washington state.

McMillon’s decision makes Walmart customers and employees less safe. (Read more from “Did Walmart’s CEO Forget About These Armed Heroes Who Stopped Massacres at His Stores?” HERE)

Lucas said an off-duty firefighter held the suspect — a 20-year-old man who was not immediately identified — at gunpoint until police arrived about three minutes after receiving an initial call.

“Thankfully, there weren’t any shots fired. I think it’s great that that off-duty fire man was here,” Lucas said. (Read more from “Armed Man Arrested at Missouri Walmart; Stopped by Citizen with a Gun” HERE)

Armed Civilian Kills Gunman, Stops Shooting Spree at Walmart in Washington State

By The Washington Post. A gunman who opened fire inside a Walmart in Washington state and injured at least two people during carjacking attempts was fatally shot by one of two armed civilians on Sunday evening, according to police.

The Thurston County coroner identified the dead suspect as Tim O. Day, 44, though police said they were still piecing together the full story of what happened at the Tumwater, Wash. Walmart. . .

There he attempted to carjack another vehicle, shooting an occupant in it at least twice. Apparently frustrated in his effort, the gunman then attempted a second carjacking.

At that point, Wohl said, two armed civilians in the parking lot confronted the suspect, one of whom fatally shot the man. (Read more from “Armed Civilian Kills Gunman, Stops Shooting Spree at Walmart in Washington State” HERE)

Walmart Announces That It Will No Longer Sell Ammunition for ‘Military-Style’ Rifles or Allow Open Carry in Its Stores

One of the nation’s largest retailers is making some drastic changes to its policies on guns and ammunition following high-profile shootings over the summer, one of which occurred at its stores.

In a memo circulated to employees on Tuesday, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon announced that the company would no longer sell handgun ammunition or “short-barrel rifle ammunition” like .223 and 5.56 NATO caliber “that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons.”

Now the Arkansas-based company will focus on long-barrel hunting rifles and their corresponding ammunition, its CEO added.

“We have a long heritage as a company of serving responsible hunters and sportsmen and women, and we’re going to continue doing so,” McMillon said.

“We’ve also been listening to a lot of people inside and outside our company as we think about the role we can play in helping to make the country safer,” McMillon added. “It’s clear to us that the status quo is unacceptable.”

In addition to the inventory changes, the company will also ask that customers no longer openly carry their guns in its stores unless they are members of law enforcement.

“We believe the opportunity for someone to misinterpret a situation, even in open carry states, could lead to tragic results,” CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo distributed to employees on Tuesday. “We hope that everyone will understand the circumstances that led to this new policy and will respect the concerns of their fellow shoppers and our associates.”

However, the executive explained, “As it relates to concealed carry by customers with permits, there is no change to our policy or approach.”

The company will also stop selling handguns in Alaska, the only state where it still does so, “marking our complete exit from handguns.”

Walmart has previously said that its share of the national ammunition sales market was around 20 percent. Tuesday’s memo estimated that the change will bring the company’s share to somewhere between 6 and 9 percent.

As the reason for the changes, the memo cites the early August shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, as well as another incident at a Walmart store in Southaven, Mississippi, where authorities say one employee fatally shot two coworkers. It also mentions shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and this past weekend’s attack in Midland and Odessa, Texas.

“We know these decisions will inconvenience some of our customers, and we hope they will understand,” McMillon wrote. “As a company, we experienced two horrific events in one week, and we will never be the same.”

Walmart has made decisions to scale back its gun and ammunition offerings before. The company began its exit from the handgun business in 1993 and stopped selling AR-style modern sporting rifles in 2015.
