New Year Diets Destined to Fail: Women Describing Themselves as ‘Fat’, ‘Heavy’ or ‘Chubby’ are Doomed Before They Begin

The latest research has revealed that women are literally talking themselves fat with eight in ten women saying they believed a positive attitude was the key to losing weight but over half using self critical words when starting a diet.

The research revealed over two thirds of women use the word ‘fat’ to describe an area of their body although six in ten say it makes them feel more negative about themselves than more positive words such as ‘curvy’.

It seems many women also start off with a mindset destined for failure with only a third of women actually starting a diet believing they will lose weight and three quarters having daily negative thoughts about their body. However, over two thirds of women said when they have successfully lost weight in the past they recalled having a positive attitude and ‘talked themselves up’.

Self help author and life coach Janet Thomson, who specialises in weight loss, said: ‘When women are looking to lose weight they want to change something about themselves and of course are more likely to use words such as “fat” for this reason. ‘However what they don’t realise is this sort of negativity can become a self-fulfilling prophecy so it is important to channel positive feelings about themselves and their goals when trying to lose weight as it gives them a much better chance of success.’

According to the research, four in ten said they also talked more negatively about their body when they were with friends with a quarter admitting these open ‘flaw exposing’ coffee shop conversations bring them down. However four in ten women said they felt more motivated if a friend had lost weight or had a more positive attitude to their body.

Obama USDA offering Women, Hispanic Farmers over $1.3 billion in Reparations (+video)

By Caroline May. As part of “a new era of civil rights” at the Department of Agriculture, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced Monday that Hispanic and women farmers and ranchers who believe USDA discriminated against them can file claims to get a piece of at least $1.33 billion in cash awards and tax relief payments and up to $160 million in farm debt relief, beginning this week.

Women and Hispanic ranchers and farmers who feel the agency denied their loan or loan servicing applications because of their race or gender at various periods from 1981 to 2000 can file claims alleging discrimination from Sept. 24, 2012, to March 25, 2013, for a slice of the payout.

“Hispanic and women farmers who believe they have faced discriminatory practices from the USDA must file a claim by March 25, 2013 in order to have a chance to receive a cash payment or loan forgiveness,” Vilsack explained in a statement Monday. “The opening of this claims process is part of USDA’s ongoing efforts to correct the wrongs of the past and ensure fair treatment to all current and future customers.”

In February 2011, Vilsack announced the historic “path to justice for Hispanic and women farmers” to offer them an outlet to receive compensation for past wrongs without having to go to federal court.

This is the third settlement to interest groups the USDA is believed to have discriminated against during the Obama administration. Read more from this story HERE.

Actress Aisha Tyler: Romney Does Not Love Women

At a Planned Parenthood rally in front of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Tuesday, actress and Planned Parenthood board member Aisha Tyler told a crowd of supporters that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney‘s positions shows he does not actually love women.

Tyler pointed out the importance of Planned Parenthood for general health services through her own personal story and explained that the organization is not just about abortion.

“Planned Parenthood is not just about abortion. That is just what the other side wants to tell you. It’s not just about abortion. It is about women’s lives and our health and about women being able to be the architects of their own destiny because when you choose when to become a mother, when you choose when to make a family, you don’t let somebody else make that choice for you, It’s your choice and we are going to fight to make sure no one ever, ever takes it away.”

“That is why I take it incredibly personally when someone like Mitt Romney says that he wants to defund Planned Parenthood,” she said.

The actress explained that while people like Romney may say they love women, their actions should fit the rhetoric.

Video: Obama Campaign Caught Lying Again

A recent campaign ad supposedly featuring “Republican women for Obama” has been proven false. At least two of the women are Democrats who previously voted for Obama. Moreover, one of the main messages of the video, that Obama stands for “small government,” is a complete fabrication. Watch it if you can stand it here:

War on Women Rhetoric Fails, Romney Leads Obama With Married Women

The War on Women rhetoric of the Obama campaign, Planned Parenthood and other abortion backers appears to be failing — at least with married women voters, according to new polling data.

A new Washington Post/ABC’s poll finds married women prefer pro-life Mitt Romney over pro-abortion Barack Obama on a 55-40 percentage point majority. Christian Heinze, a reporter for The Hill, indicates that means Romney is running ahead of the pace at which John McCain ran against Obama in 2008.

“Compare that with 2008 exit polls when Obama won married women with children, 51%-47%, while McCain won married women with no kids 53%-44%,” he said. “Romney’s 15% margin soundly beats both numbers.”

Heinze also notes that the new numbers put Romney where pro-life President George W. Bush was in 2004, when he won his bid for re-election.

“That 15% is identical to George W. Bush’s 2004 performance when he beat John Kerry among married women, 57%-42%, so there’s good precedent for Romney with his current margin,” he writes today.

Common parasite may lead women to suicide, self-harm

Women who are infected with a common parasite may be more likely to hurt themselves or attempt suicide, a new study of over 45,000 new moms in Denmark suggests.

The infection, known as toxoplasmosis, is caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Humans can become chronically infected by eating undercooked meat or unwashed vegetables or by handling cat litter, as the parasite is known to multiply in the gut of infected cats.

Toxoplasmosis is often symptom-free, but can be dangerous in people with weak immune systems or during pregnancy, since the parasite may be passed to babies.

Some studies have linked the parasite to a higher chance of developing schizophrenia, and researchers believe because the T. gondii parasite lives in the brain, it could have an effect on emotions and behavior.

For the new report, Dr. Teodor Postolache from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore and his colleagues used Danish medical registries to track 45,788 women who were originally included in a study that screened newborn babies for toxoplasmosis.
