Landmark Anti-lab Leak Paper Was Covertly Influenced by Compromised Scientists

One of the most influential papers arguing against the COVID-19 lab-leak theory was covertly crafted by three scientists with substantial histories of conducting gain-of-function research, an investigation by U.S. Right To Know revealed.

The paper in question, “The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2,” was published in March 2020 in “Nature Medicine” by five notable researchers specializing in microbiology, immunology and infectious diseases. Three individuals who were not listed as authors — Dr. Marion Koopmans, Dr. Ron Fouchier and Dr. Christian Drosten — were significant influences on its contents, according to USRTK.

Koopmans, Fouchier and Drosten all have glaring conflicts of interest that call into question their ability to be impartial regarding the possibility that a lab accident released a genetically engineered virus that went on to cause the global pandemic. Koopmans is the head of virology at the Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands, and Fouchier is her deputy. Erasmus is a collaborator with EcoHealth Alliance, a now-infamous non-profit responsible for funneling U.S. taxpayer money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to Science.

As for Drosten, he conducts gain-of-function (GoF) research funded by the German government. GoF research involves genetically modifying pathogens to make them more dangerous by enhancing their infectiousness or lethality. Cryptic Messages Could Prove Wuhan Lab Leak After Scientists Refer to ‘Opening Pandora’s Box’ Weeks Before Outbreak

. . .An expert on language used by China’s officials believes he has found clues in phrases such as scientists talking about opening a “Pandora’s box”.

Toy Reid was part of a team of researchers who worked on a US Senate investigation into the idea that Covid leaked from a lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). . .

He was able find a way to access messages archived on the website of the WIV and began decoding the language. . .

But then he came across one message lamented a lack of “equipment and technology standards, no design and construction teams, and no experience operating or maintaining” such a lab. . .

One message read “once you have opened the stored test tubes, it is just as if having opened Pandora’s Box” adding “these viruses come without a shadow and leave without a trace”. Will Dangerous Wuhan Institute of Virology Experiments Now Be Done in Downtown Boston?

With over 600 million COVID-19 cases and 6.4 million deaths, scientists, who may be implicated as contributors to its laboratory creation and participants in a cover-up of its laboratory origin, continue to be rewarded rather than aggressively investigated.

In August 2020, the EcoHealth Alliance and Boston University jointly announced receiving a $1 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Predictive Intelligence for Pandemic Prevention Phase One research program.

According to the EcoHealth Alliance’s press release, its new NSF grant will continue the coronavirus experiments now underway between Peter Daszak of the EcoHealth Alliance and the “bat woman” Zheng-Li Shi of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, citing an August 9, 2022 scientific publication, research funded by Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

It is well-known that Peter Daszak has a long history of collaborating with the Wuhan Institute of Virology and many other Chinese scientists, including members of China’s People’s Liberation Army, like Wuchun Cao.

There is also evidence that Peter Daszak led an effort to suppress any discussion of the laboratory origin of COVID-19 by labeling it a conspiracy theory.

What neither press release from the EcoHealth Alliance and Boston University mentions is the additional connection between the $1 million NSF grant and Boston University’s controversial National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) Biosafety Level-4 facility, handling the world’s most deadly viruses and located in the South End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts.

One of the principal investigators of the $1 million NSF grant is Nahid Bhadelia, who is Associate Director of NEIDL and co-authored a medical article with present Centers for Disease Control Director Rochelle Walensky, in which they strongly supported the now thoroughly discredited argument that lockdowns decrease COVID-19 mortality, while also calling natural herd immunity “a dangerous fallacy unsupported by scientific evidence.”

The Director of NEIDEL is Ronald Corley, who is a co-author with Peter Daszak on the infamous politically-motivated March 7, 2020 Lancet article, in which they “strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that COVID-19 does not have a natural origin,” at a time when there was already scientific evidence indicating a laboratory origin.

It appears that all the elements that led to the COVID-19 pandemic and all those involved in dangerous “gain of function” virus research are still operating as they did just prior to the outbreak, perhaps now even in the center of a major American city with potentially devastating consequences.

All the scientists and all the U.S. government officials potentially involved in the laboratory creation of COVID-19 and any subsequent cover-up of its laboratory origin need to be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice as appropriate.

That goes double for the COVID-19 vaccines.

NIH Officials Repeatedly Warned Bosses In 2016 About Funding Dangerous ‘Gain Of Function’ Research In Wuhan Lab

Officials at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) repeatedly warned that EcoHealth Alliance might be conducting “gain-of-function” (GOF) research, according to new emails published by Judicial Watch.

EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based nonprofit which helped funnel taxpayer money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) for bat-based virus research, was warned they weren’t in compliance with NIH guidelines and were facilitating research that violated a pause on GOF experiments, the emails show. Despite red flags noted by officials at NIH and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as early as 2016, EcoHealth continued to send money to WIV for years.

“They have proposed work for the next year of the award that may be subject to the gain-of-function funding pause,” NIAID official Erik Stemmy wrote to NIH official Carine Normil in May 2016, referring to work EcoHealth was conducting. “We received a warning that one of the publications [redacted] listed from the past year is non-compliant,” EcoHealth chief of staff Alexa Chmura separately replied to Normil. COVID Origin Mystery Breakthrough as Early ‘Lab-Grown’ Version of Virus Found in China

The discovery could boost the theory that coronavirus was originally leaked from a lab. The samples were found in soil and came from a Chinese biotechnology firm. They had been sent to the Sangon Biotech in Shanghai to be sequenced back in December 2019. It is thought they had been contaminated with a previously unknown variant of the virus.

Scientists from the University of Veterinary Medicine and Lorand University in Hungary stumbled upon the discovery by chance when analysing genetic soil sample data from Antarctica.

The samples were also found to have DNA from hamsters and monkeys.

Some experts claim this suggests the early version of the virus was grown in a lab using animals or their cells. . .

“So if it was sequenced in say mid-December, before anybody had identified the virus in people and started trying to grow it in labs, then it points to secret samples in labs in 2019.” (Read more from “COVID Origin Mystery Breakthrough as Early ‘Lab-Grown’ Version of Virus Found in China” HERE)

The Bat Lady From Wuhan and the Very Clumsy Lies She Tells

MIT Technology Review has a new piece by Jane Qiu on Shi Zhengli, the renowned Wuhan virologist at the centre of the lab leak. Qiu is Shi’s personal propagandist, responsible for the notorious 2020 Scientific American piece on How China’s ‘Bat Woman’ Hunted Down Viruses From SARS to the New Coronavirus.

In her latest whitewash, Qiu explains that Shi has granted her “unparalleled” access, because of her “strong science background” which “allows [her] to grasp the nuances and complexity” of what it is that Shi and her den of virologists get up to. Qiu further admits that her purpose is not to investigate anything; instead, she wants “Shi and her team [to] tell their side of the story on the record, and in the most detail to date.” As you might expect, nobody at the Wuhan Institute of Virology has any interest in disclosing new information, which leaves Qiu with little to report that we didn’t know already. Just a lot of the same old dissimulations, with the occasional update.

The most interesting of these surrounds the Mystery of the Mojiang Cave. The story goes that workers were cleaning up bat droppings in this abandoned copper mine in Yunnan province in the spring of 2012, when six of them fell ill with pneumonia. Shi’s lab tested blood samples to see if they’d contracted SARS or a SARS-related virus, and afterwards the Wuhan virologists developed a persistent interest in the Mojiang mine. Among the bat samples collected there, they claim to have found RaTG13, the closest known relative of SARS-2.

Note all of the bizarre coincidences you must live with, if you believe SARS-2 has natural origins: You have to imagine the virus just happened to enter humans via some zoonotic event in Wuhan, the only city on earth with a lab devoted to sampling and culturing SARS-related bat coronaviruses like SARS-2, where its closest known relative also just happened to be sitting in a freezer. And we haven’t even gotten to the furin cleavage site yet.

It is curious, then, that nobody can ever get the story straight, about what happened with those mine workers. In 2020, Shi’s line was that the miners had a fungal infection of some kind, and never tested positive for SARS antibodies. Then The Seeker, an anonymous Twitter investigator, uncovered this pre-pandemic Ph.D. thesis from 2016, which states plainly that the Wuhan Institute of Virology indeed detected SARS antibodies in their blood. Thereafter George Gao, head of the Chinese CDC, conceded to French reporters that the miners had antibodies to a SARS-related virus, but suggested (implausibly) that these might have been caused by some prior infection and they might well have nothing to do with the cave. COVID Lab Leak Theory Blows Wide Open: Leaked Documents Show Samples Were Sent to Wuhan

The leaked documents add more weight to the theory that the deadly pathogen leaked from Wuhan’s Institute of Virology. Campaigners say Wuhan scientists were studying viral samples of high-risk bat species living in Laos. This has drawn a link between a pathogen that is a close relative to COVID-19 that was found in Laos and the research performed at the Wuhan laboratory.

The documents suggest that in September scientists discovered a viral strain called Banal-52 in Laos. . .

Leaked emails between scientific research foundation EcoHealth Alliance and US government funders show viral samples were being actively collected from bats in Laos.

These samples were then taken back to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for study.

The emails between EcoHealth Alliance and the US government funders suggest that viral DNA from “bats and other high-risk species” were sent to Wuhan between June 2017 to May 2019. (Read more from “COVID Lab Leak Theory Blows Wide Open: Leaked Documents Show Samples Were Sent to Wuhan” HERE)

New Evidence for Lab-Leak Hypothesis of COVID’s Origins

The origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 remains unclear, but recent revelations reinforce the likelihood that the true source was a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

A letter from Lawrence Tabak, the National Institutes of Health’s principal deputy director, to Kentucky congressman James Comer confirms that the NIH funded research at the WIV during 2018–2019 that manipulated a bat coronavirus called WIV1. Researchers at the institute grafted spike proteins from other coronaviruses onto WIV1 to see if the modified virus was capable of binding in a mouse that possessed the ACE2 receptors found in humans—the same receptor to which SARS-CoV-2 binds. The modified virus reproduced more rapidly and made infected humanized mice sicker than the unmodified virus.

Starting in 2014, the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, headed by Anthony Fauci, funded the New York-based research nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance with annual grants through 2020 for “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.” Total funding was $3,748,715. More than $600,000 of that went to the WIV. Three other Chinese institutions received funding as well. The principal investigator was EcoHealth Alliance president Peter Daszak, who, from the onset of the pandemic, has consistently campaigned in public and behind the scenes to convince people that SARS-CoV-2 did not come from the WIV but evolved naturally from animal-to-human transmission.

Tabak’s letter asserts that the modified virus’s becoming more virulent “was an unexpected result” and not “something that the researchers set out to do”—an odd claim, considering that the whole point of manipulating the virus was to investigate things that could make it more virulent. The 2018 research mentioned in Tabak’s letter is similar to earlier WIV research, funded in part by the NIH, that modified viruses related to SARS to see if they could infect human cells. Publications of these studies in 2017 and 2016 were the subject of a contentious Senate hearing in which Senator Rand Paul pressed Fauci to admit that they constituted gain-of-function research, prompting Fauci’s denial and a statement that “NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

Many, but not all, virologists believe that the WIV experimentation qualifies as gain-of-function research. Such research was originally defined as “any modification of a biological agent that confers new or enhanced activity.” The National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity proposed that only a narrower category, gain-of-function research of concern—research that could make a pathogen likely to spread and cause disease in humans—needs extra regulatory oversight. FAUCI LIED: NIH Finally Admits Funding COVID Research at Wuhan Lab

Despite testifying before Congress to the contrary, new evidence appears to prove that National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci and NIH Director Francis Collins approved grants for gain-of-function virus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Gain-of-function research involves extracting natural virus samples from animals and engineering them to infect humans for the development of therapeutics and vaccines. Gain-of-function research was banned in the United States in 2014, but that didn’t stop the NIH from funding such research before the ban was lifted by the Obama administration days before he left office.

Both Fauci and Collins have denied approving grants for the controversial research through EcoHealth Alliance, Inc. and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but a letter from NIH Principal Deputy Director Lawrence Tabak to House Oversight Committee ranking Republican James Comer contradicts their testimony.

“NIH — and specifically, Collins, Fauci, and Tabak — lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public,” says Dr. Richard H. Ebright, Board of Governors professor at Rutgers University’s Waksman Institute of Microbiology. “Knowingly. Willfully. Brazenly.”

The letter from Tabak describes the results of a limited experiment, where “laboratory mice infected with [a modified bat coronavirus] became sicker than those infected with the [original] bat coronavirus.”

What Are They Hiding? Government Condemned for Not Releasing Details of Key Email Conversations on COVID Origins

The Government has been condemned after refusing to release details of key email conversations involving leading scientists over the origins of Covid-19.

This newspaper used Freedom of Information rules to obtain a cache of 32 emails about a secretive teleconference between British and American health officials held early in the pandemic.

But officials blacked out almost every word before releasing the crucial documents.

Before this discussion, several of the world’s most influential experts believed the new virus most likely came from a laboratory – but days later, the scientists began dismissing such scenarios as ‘implausible’ and branding them conspiracy theories.

The critical call is at the centre of concerns that the scientific establishment tried to stifle debate on the pandemic’s origins, as damning new evidence emerges of US ties to high-risk research on bat viruses in Wuhan, where the first cases emerged in late 2019.
