Senate Bill Will Require Biden Administration to Declassify Intel on COVID-19 Origins

The Senate approved a bill that would require the Biden administration and the director of national intelligence to declassify intelligence on the origins of COVID-19 by unanimous consent Wednesday evening.

“The American people deserve to know about the origins of COVID-19,” Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley said on the Senate floor before the bill passed. “They deserve to know how this terrible pandemic that has ravaged the globe and our country, how it got started, and what China’s role was in starting it.”

He said that voters deserved to see the evidence and judge for themselves, rather than different speculation from various administration officials on where the virus may have come from. . .

In a statement before the vote, Biden said intelligence leaders were weighing two possible scenarios – that the virus either leapt to a human from contact with an infected animal or that it accidentally leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. This Organization Will Lead the Investigation Into COVID Origins

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday the China-dominated World Health Organization (WHO) would lead phase two of an investigation into the origins of the novel Wuhan coronavirus.

Psaki’s remark came in response to a reporter at a White House briefing who pressed Psaki on what groups would be charged with another investigation of the virus’ origin after the WHO’s initial report was undermined by its own Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Ghebreuesus admitted more research needs to be conducted after the WHO concluded from its initial investigation under Chinese oversight last year ruled the lab-leak hypothesis, written off as a conspiracy in U.S. media, was highly unlikely. . .

“What role does the Biden administration think U.S. scientists or CDC scientists should play in that investigation?” a reporter asked.

“The WHO would be the body that would be overseeing a transparent, independent phase 2 investigation. New Revelations From Inside China Indicate Actual Location of COVID-19 Military Origin

Information obtained within the last 24 hours from a source inside China challenges the popular narrative about the laboratory origin of COVID-19.
There is now no doubt that the COVID-19 virus was created in a laboratory.

Although, most believe it leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The “bat woman” Zheng-Li Shi of the Wuhan Institute of Virology denies that her institute was the source.

Zheng-Li Shi claims that she and her colleagues discovered the virus in late 2019, in samples from patients who had a pneumonia of unknown origin.

“Before that, we had never been in contact with or studied this virus, nor did we know of its existence,” Shi wrote.

“U.S. President Trump’s claim that SARS-CoV-2 was leaked from our institute totally contradicts the facts,” Zheng-Li Shi added.

She may be partially correct.

I have long said that the creation of the COVID-19 virus was a collaboration among a number of Chinese military centers, not the sole result of “gain of function” experiments conducted exclusively at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Although still a developing story, here is a summary:

1. A fully-formed or nearly fully-formed COVID-19 virus arrived at the Wuhan Institute of Virology from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command in the early months of 2019.

2. Contrary to the popular narrative, the COVID-19 virus was sent to the Wuhan Institute of Virology primarily for testing.

3. The testing was assigned to a group of young virologists. The name of the leader of that group is known and the leader’s scientific background is consistent with that role.

4. Testing was done on non-human primates.

The following comments are based on that information.

The Biosafety Level 4 laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology is in Jiangxia District of Wuhan, which is about 12 miles south of Wuchang District, the early epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak.

It is not clear that the Biosafety Level 4 laboratory in Jiangxia District had the capability to conduct experiments using non-human primates.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences’ own website states:

The National Biosafety Laboratory, Wuhan (NBL4) has 2 cellular biosafety labs, 1 small-sized animal lab, 1 medium-sized animal lab, and 1 culture (virus) collection & use lab.”

In contrast, the Wuhan University Animal Experiment Center and the Animal Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory does have the capability to conduct non-human primate experiments.

The following photos are from a Chinese-language publication showing the inside of the restricted Wuhan University Animal Experiment Center and the Animal Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory, specifically the non-human primate facility.

That research facility is inside the epicenter of the early COVID-19 outbreak and nearby a major Chinese People’s Liberation Army hospital complex.

It is possible that the COVID-19 virus was released while undergoing tests in Wuhan.

In a previous TGP article, I speculated that the furin polybasic cleavage site, the “smoking gun” for the laboratory origin of COVID-19, was inserted by Chinese People’s Liberation Army scientists connected to the PLA Southern Medical University in Guangzhou.

Multiple infections, that is. “serial passaging” through non-human primates could have partially pre-adapted the COVID-19 virus for human infection. Alternatively, the COVID-19 could have been pre-adapted by serial passaging through genetically-altered mice strains expressing human receptors for the COVID-19 virus.

New GOP Intel Shows ‘Overwhelming’ Evidence COVID Originated in Wuhan Lab

House Intelligence Committee Republicans released a report on the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday and pointed the finger directly at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, arguing there is “overwhelming circumstantial evidence” supporting the hypothesis COVID-19 originated in the lab.

Officials from both the Trump and Biden administrations have said the Chinese government worked for over a year to thwart an independent investigation into the origins of the virus. Both administrations cast doubt on the manner in which a joint study from China and the World Health Organization was conducted earlier this year. Though the WHO-China report said a jump from animals to humans was most likely, numerous Trump officials have pointed to an accidental escape from the Wuhan lab as a highly plausible, or the most likely, origin for the pandemic.

Led by Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the 21-page Republican report, In Focus: COVID-19 and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, laid out what the congressmen saw as the case for considering a leak from a Wuhan lab.

It assessed that the Wuhan lab was secretly working with the Chinese military and conducting gain-of-function research and pointed to the possibility that U.S. funding may have ended up helping the lab with those experiments. Location of Origin of COVID-19 Pandemic Identified – Between Two of China’s Biological Warfare Facilities in Wuhan

According to China’s own data, the original hot spot for COVID-19 infections occurred in a residential area in the four miles between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the Biological Preparations Institute of the China Biology Technology Group Corporation.

Both of those institutions have been associated with China’s biological warfare program and, prior to and since the onset of the pandemic, they have collaborated on vaccine development.

For months after the start of the pandemic in December 2019, China flooded the scientific literature with subtle and sometimes not so subtle messages supporting its narrative that COVID-19 is a naturally-occurring disease that “jumped” from animals to humans in the Wuhan seafood market.

On May 26, 2020, the Wall Street Journal reported that China was finally forced to admit that COVID-19 did not originate in the Wuhan seafood market, a theory now totally discredited, even by the Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Nevertheless, China’s attempts to cover-up the origin of COVID-19 continue.

Even as recently as February of this year, China has refused to give raw data on early COVID-19 cases to a World Health Organization (WHO) team probing the origins of the pandemic.

The WHO team had requested raw patient data on 174 cases that China had identified from the early phase of the outbreak in the city of Wuhan in December 2019, as well as other cases.

At the same time, Beijing has sought to cast doubt on the notion that COVID-19 originated in China, pointing to imported frozen food as a conduit.

Eventually, the WHO team was pressured by China to include in its report that dubious explanation for the origin of the pandemic.

There is, however, a far simpler and more accurate explanation for the origin of COVID-19, based on China’s own data.

Statistics published by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission show that Wuchang district had the highest number of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 early in the pandemic.

Wuchang also had the highest concentration of asymptomatic infections during that same period.

It was also the case that the early international spread of COVID-19 had occurred in people who had visited the Wuchang district in the first half of January 2020, but had not gone to the Wuhan seafood market.

Data published by the Wuhan Wuchang District Health Bureau state that the highest concentration of infections in the early phase of the outbreak occurred in the residential areas along Huanghelou and Ziyang streets, both located within the four miles between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the Biological Preparations Institute.

Those observations match closely, in time and location, the social media data obtained from the Sina Weibo platform, which was designed as a channel for people who think that might be infected to seek help.

A figure from that publication, but slightly modified to show the locations of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV, black star) and the Biological Preparations Institute (BPI, yellow square), shows that the highest concentration of help seekers before January 18, 2020, were in the areas between those two research institutions.

Note that there are fewer help seekers outside that area, including at the Wuhan seafood market (red circle).

Based on the available scientific evidence, the COVID-19 virus was the product of “gain of function” research, not a natural transmission from an animal host to humans.

Gain of function research is defined as when a naturally-occurring virus is genetically or otherwise manipulated to make it either more contagious, more lethal, or both.

There are only two reasons for conducting gain of function research, (a) to understand the structural features and actions of a virus to create a vaccine in anticipation of a potential disease outbreak or (b) to create a biological weapon, or both.

It is most likely that China was conducting, within the framework of a biological warfare program, parallel development of a unique genetically-engineered coronavirus pathogen and a vaccine to treat it. Lawmakers Demand Investigation of NIH ‘Secretively’ Funneling Tax Dollars to Notorious Wuhan Lab

A letter sent Tuesday from members of Congress to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi Grimm is demanding a “prompt and thorough investigation” into the National Institutes of Health’s relationship with the Chinese Communist Party-run Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The 28 congressional signers, led by Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., write:

The NIH, unfortunately, has played a major role in supporting [the Wuhan Institute of Virology] and this treacherous research and the promotion of spurious claims dismissing the NIH-funded lab’s potential role in the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology is suspected by experts, including the U.S. State Department, to have caused the COVID-19 pandemic through an accidental lab leak.

Lawmakers write that the NIH and Pentagon are responsible for “secretively” funneling tax dollars to the Wuhan research lab through the U.S.-based nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance. The Wuhan Institute of Virology has already received $600,000 in U.S. taxpayer funds between 2014 and 2019 to study bat-based coronaviruses through EcoHealth Alliance, and the lab is still authorized to receive U.S. tax dollars for animal experiments until 2024. The Wuhan Lab Will Receive U.S. Taxpayer Funding Through 2024

The Wuhan Institute of Virology is authorized to receive taxpayer funding for animal research until January 2024, the National Institute of Health told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The WIV is at the center of widespread speculation that COVID-19 could have entered the human population in China due to an accidental lab leak. Researchers at the lab were studying bat-based coronaviruses prior to the outbreak, a project partially backed by $600,000 in U.S. taxpayer funds routed to the lab through the nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance.

The president of EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak, was the sole U.S. member of the World Health Organization delegation that investigated the origins of the pandemic on the ground in China in January and February. While the WHO delegation has yet to release a report on their findings, Daszak said the White House should blindly accept their conclusion that it’s highly unlikely the virus could have leaked from the WIV.

Bombshell U.S. State Department Report Reveals Evidence of the Origin of COVID-19

The U.S. State Department announced last Friday it has evidence that researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), a laboratory in Wuhan, China, became sick in fall 2019 with flu-like symptoms. This has led U.S. officials to believe the researchers may have been infected with COVID-19 as a result of a lab experiment.

“This raises questions about the credibility of WIV senior researcher Shi Zhengli’s public claim that there was ‘zero infection’ among the WIV’s staff and students,” reads the State Department “Fact Sheet: Activity at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

The main theory pushed by the Chinese government and health organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control, National Institute of Health, and World Health Organization is that the virus jumped from an animal to a human in Wuhan before spreading around the world. However, the new information from the State Department adds evidence that the virus may have accidentally leaked from the WIV, a hypothesis that has been dismissed by China, the corporate media, and health officials as a “conspiracy theory.”

The fact sheet says WIV began conducting experiments in 2016 on a coronavirus that originated in bats and is closely related to the virus currently spreading. The State Department also says WIV has collaborated on “secret projects” with the Chinese military.

“Despite the WIV presenting itself as a civilian institution, the United States has determined that the WIV has collaborated on publications and secret projects with China’s military,” the fact sheet says. “The WIV has engaged in classified research, including laboratory animal experiments, on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017.” (Read more from “Bombshell U.S. State Department Report Reveals Evidence of the Origin of COVID-19” HERE)

Massive Study: Asymptomatic Transmission of COVID-19 Didn’t Occur at All

A study of almost 10 million people in Wuhan, China, found that asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 did not occur at all, thus undermining the need for lockdowns, which are built on the premise of the virus being unwittingly spread by infectious, asymptomatic people.

Published in November in the scientific journal Nature Communications, the paper was compiled by 19 scientists, mainly from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, but also from scientific institutions across China as well as in the U.K. and Australia. It focused on the residents of Wuhan, ground zero for COVID-19, where 9,899,828 people took part in a screening program between May 14 and June 1, which provided clear results as to the possibility of any asymptomatic transmission of the virus.

Asymptomatic transmission has been the underlying justification of lockdowns enforced all across the world. The most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) still states that the virus “can be spread by people who do not have symptoms.” In fact, the CDC claimed that asymptomatic people “are estimated to account for more than 50 percent of transmissions.” . . .

However, the new study in Nature Communications, titled “Post-lockdown SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid screening in nearly 10 million residents of Wuhan, China,” debunked the concept of asymptomatic transmission.

It stated that out of the nearly 10 million people in the study, “300 asymptomatic cases” were found. Chinese Scientists Say Wuhan Market Isn’t Where Coronavirus Began

Chinese scientists say the coronavirus didn’t originate at a live animal market or a laboratory in Wuhan, pushing back against US officials over where the pandemic began, according to a report.

China’s top epidemiologist, Gao Fu, said samples taken from the wholesale market — where the deadly virus was reportedly first passed to humans — failed to show links between animals sold there and the pathogen, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“It now turns out that the market is one of the victims,” Gao told state-run media Tuesday.
