Scott Walker’s Achilles heel: How his immigration record could scuttle his 2016 bid

Scott Walker has vaulted into the top tier of the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential contenders, displaying strength in early primary states and building a formidable fundraising network as he prepares to go up against Jeb Bush’s financial juggernaut. His crossover appeal to the GOP’s business and Tea Party wings, combined with his evangelical background, positions him well to emerge as the leading alternative to Bush, whose heresies on issues like immigration reform and the Common Core education standard rile the right-wing base. But Walker’s White House bid may yet falter amid revelations of his own past impurities.

Though Walker told ABC’s Martha Raddatz earlier this month that he opposes “amnesty” for unauthorized immigrants, he hasn’t always sounded the same tune. National Review reported last week that as Milwaukee county executive, Walker signed a 2002 resolution backing comprehensive immigration reform. A Walker spokesperson told the magazine that the resolution Walker signed was actually watered down from a more strongly pro-reform draft, but the resolution called for “greater opportunity for undocumented working immigrants to obtain legal residency in the United States.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Scott Walker, Fiscal Responsibility Candidate, Orders His State to Skip Debt Payment

Scott Walker touts the generous tax cuts he’s pushed through since 2010 to bolster his image as one of the 2016 GOP presidential field’s most high-profile fiscal conservatives. (One economically conservative activist told Slate’s Betsy Woodruff that Walker’s 2014 gubernatorial election was more important to him than every other election in the country combined.) But those tax cuts have not created the hoped-for economic growth, and even after big reductions in public spending, Wisconsin is in the midst of a budget crisis: Bloomberg reported Wednesday that the Walker administration will skip a debt payment of $108 million that is due in May.

Spokesman Cullen Werwie told Bloomberg that the state will restructure its debt obligations to avoid default, but the delay will result in a substantial increase in the cost of the loan for Wisconsin taxpayers. (Read more from this story HERE)

Planned Parenthood Challenging Alaska Law Limiting Elective Abortions

Photo Credit: Catholic Anchor Planned Parenthood is in court this week challenging a state law that prohibits Alaska abortion practitioners from being reimbursed by the state for performing “elective” abortions which are not done to preserve the life or physical health of the mother.

With the help of ACLU of Alaska, Planned Parenthood is arguing for why the law should be overturned. The case, Planned Parenthood v Davidson, is being argued before Anchorage Superior Court Judge John Suddock, who put the law on hold last summer until Planned Parenthood had an opportunity to argue its case in court.

Supporters of the law note that it closes loopholes that have been exploited by abortion practitioners to gain public funding for “elective” abortions.

The law clarifies when an abortion is considered “medically necessary” under the law and thus eligible for state funding, versus when the procedure is considered merely “elective.”

As in other states, Alaska is subject to the long-standing federal law — the Hyde Amendment — that stipulates that federal dollars can only pay for abortions in cases of rape, incest or to preserve the mother’s life. But if none of those conditions apply, abortion practitioners in Alaska have been able to simply claim that an abortion was “medically necessary” and general funds from the state would then pay for abortions of low-income women on Medicaid.

Prior to 2001, Alaska was only required to pay for abortions where the life of the mother was endangered or the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest, consistent with federal law.

Then in 2001, the Alaska Supreme Court ruled that Alaska must use state funds to pay for all “medically necessary” abortions even if the federal government would not. As a result, for the last 12 years, Alaska has paid for all abortions requested by abortion practitioners without ever defining the term “medically necessary.”

In clarifying when an abortion is deemed “medically necessary” Senate Bill 49 stated that the condition is met when there is a “serious risk to the pregnant woman of death; or impairment of a major bodily function.”

Psychological or mental health threats are not covered as medically necessary reasons for an abortion.

But not all pro-life advocates are supportive of the new law. Most notably, Alaska Right to Life issued a strong statement against the legislation because it specifically excludes unborn babies who are conceived in rape or incest.

But one of the most prominent pro-life organizations in the state, Alaska Family Action, supported passage of the law, calling it a “common sense measure that simply requires physicians to describe why they are determining that a procedure is medically necessary.”

Abortion supporters such as Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortions in the nation, opposed the law and with the legal aid of ACLU of Alaska is asking the court to overturn the law.

The public is free to attend the court sessions each day from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. According to ACLU of Alaska, Planned Parenthood’s main doctor in the trial, Dr. Jan Whitefield, is scheduled to testify on Friday. Fools Trust the Obama Administration, While Experts Correctly Fear Rising Threats From Russia and Iran

New York- February 18, 2015. Informed foreign policy and economic experts rightly fear one gathering threat today even more than genocidal attacks by the purported Islamic State and its shadowy network of affiliates–Russia could soon provide military and diplomatic cover to Iran as that nation contrives to topple the monarchy in Saudi Arabia, and subsequently extends control by force over other energy-rich Arab kingdoms, including United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

Russia and Iran each have far longer histories as independent nations than America does–over many centuries, they have been enemies, rivals, and friends. In recent months, and particularly since 2008, ties among Russia and Iran have strengthened for defensive reasons, to blunt pressures emanating from the United States and from the European Union.

Going forward, Russia’s potentially muscular protection for Iran (whose Muslim population chiefly are Shia) is particularly irksome for Saudi Arabia, where a majority of the populace is Sunni–no series of workshops or teach-ins will soon reconcile this doctrinal schism.

Worse, given Iran’s demonstrated propensity to meddle throughout the Middle East since 1979, Russia’s growing support for Iran may accelerate attempts by Iran to de-stabilize the energy-laden, eastern province of Saudi Arabia, where a substantial proportion of the population is Shia.

Given recent events in Yemen, where Iranian-backed Houthi rebels quickly seized control over large portions of a country touted as a success story and strong ally by the Obama Administration as recently as last September, Saudi officials watch Russia’s engagement with Iran, America’s retreat from the Middle East, and America’s fomenting of regime change since 2008 everywhere except Iran with profound concern. Student Visas from Saudi Arabia Increase Ten-Fold Since 9/11

What is happening to our Republic?

Countries like Mexico are able to dictate our immigration policy.

Illegal aliens are able to disrupt congressional proceedings with impunity.

And now, Saudi Arabia is able to control our colleges.

Did Americans ever cast a vote at the ballot box to cede control of our higher education system to Saudi Arabia?

As we learned from the 9/11 attacks, our biggest vulnerability is not our air or naval defenses, it is our immigration system. Yet, not only have the politicians failed to deal with these vulnerabilities, they have blithely ignored the massive expansion of immigrant and non-immigrant visas from Middle Eastern countries since 2001. On average, we’ve issued over 100,000 new green cards to individuals from predominantly Muslim countries every year over the past decade.

Perhaps, the most jarring increase comes from student visas issued to Saudi Arabian nationals. According to the Institute of International Education, based on data compiled by the State Department, we have granted roughly 54,000 student visas to Saudi Arabian nationals during the 2013/14 academic year. This represents an eye-popping 935% increase since 2001. Saudi Arabia is now the 4th leading country of origin for foreign students in the U.S., with the rate of increase growing every year. In total, we have admitted 221,316 students from Saudi Arabia since 2001.

Why the sudden explosion in Saudi student visas, especially given the fact that Saudi Arabian nationals accounted for 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11?

In 2005, terror-supporting Saudi King Abdullah started a scholarship fund which essentially pays for his citizens to attend universities in the U.S. With the rapid rate of increase, and no caps in place on F-1 student visas, Saudi Arabia can theoretically buy out hundreds of thousands of visas in the coming years. This is a pretty good racket for Saudi Arabia because it coincides with their ubiquitous funding of Middle Eastern studies in departments of major American universities. They fund the curriculum and send their foreign nationals to change the environment on our major college campuses.

And what are the results?

Well money can’t buy you love, but it can buy hate and propaganda. The period of growing Saudi influence and concentration in our universities has corresponded with a precipitous rise in anti-Semitism on many major college campuses. When coupled with the broader increase in Muslim immigrant and non-immigrant visas in recent years – to the point that Arabic is the fastest growing language at U.S. colleges – our universities are rapidly becoming ‘little Europes’ for Jewish students.

As we noted earlier, while only a small percentage of these foreign students are likely potential security threats, the growing population from Islamic countries creates the environment that breeds this insidious ideology. It also contributes to the growing anti-Semitism, something we don’t need in this country.

The Institute of International Education also details the fields of study popular among foreign students. Forty-one percent of Saudi students are enrolled in programs within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Roughly 80% of all Iranian foreign students are pursuing degrees in STEM. So when you hear the political class drone on about the need to award more green cards to foreign students graduating in STEM fields, just know that a large portion of them hail from the Middle East. Indeed, U-Mass just took the prudent step of barring all Iranian students from studying nuclear sciences – only to relent after pressure from Muslim community-organizing groups.

And now, in an Orwellian turn of events, a group of radical Islamic leaders are able to meet at the White House and influence our domestic and foreign policies concerning the fight against “extremism.”

TYRANNY ALERT: Obama’s ATF Moves to Ban Common AR15 Ammunition

Photo Credit: Guns BuzzThe work of anti-gun zealots is never done. When outright bans fail to materialize, the conversation soon shifts to backdoor methods of gun control. Those who abhor an armed citizenry never ever give up; they just retreat, regroup and find another route of attack.

In recent years, that has been working to reduce the availability of ammunition. After all, what good is one of those oh-so-scary “military-style assault weapons” if one cannot fire them?

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has released a proposal to reclassify SS109/M855 5.56 NATO ammunition as “armor-piercing” and ban the import, sale or manufacture of the common rifle round used in AR15 rifles and pistols based on the AR15 platform.

The ATF claims that they can ban the M855 ammo under an obscure provision in the Gun Control Act of 1968 which deems that ammo can be marketed to civilians which is “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes.”

However, the move is clearly an effort to reduce the availability of ammunition to AR15 owners and to drive-up the cost of shooting, a position the NRA-ILA holds in a new press release who said that the move was “clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles.” (Read more about the ban on AR15 Ammunition HERE)

First Open Homosexual Chosen for Pentagon Chief of Staff; Ban on Transvestites to be Lifted

By Richard Sisk. New Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has chosen former acting Air Force Secretary Eric Fanning to become his chief of staff and the first openly gay man to hold the post.

Fanning, currently the Air Force undersecretary, was a key member of the transition team along with Army Maj. Gen. Ron Davis that guided Carter through his Senate confirmation hearings to replace outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.

As chief of staff, Fanning will have major sway over Carter’s schedule and access to his office. Davis was expected to become military adviser to Carter.

In his brief remarks after his swearing in ceremony at the White House on Tuesday, Carter noted the presence of Fanning and Davis in the small audience and thanked “Eric and Ron.”

In response to the Fanning announcement, Chad Griffin, president of the gay rights advocacy group Human Rights Campaign, said in a statement Wednesday that few were as qualified as Fanning to serve as Carter’s chief of staff. Air Force Secretary Wants to Lift Transgender Ban

By Susan Page. Now that the U.S. military has opened more jobs to women and allowed gay men and lesbians to serve openly, Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James says the ban on transgender troops is likely to be reassessed and should be lifted.

“Times change,” she told Capital Download, saying the policy “is likely to come under review in the next year or so.” Asked whether dropping the ban would affect military readiness, she replied: “From my point of view, anyone who is capable of accomplishing the job should be able to serve.”

In a wide-ranging interview at the Pentagon, James also described progress in the bombing campaign against the radical group Islamic State, also known as ISIL or ISIS, and said the U.S.-led military coalition has gotten help from an unlikely source: Iran.

The Pentagon last week confirmed Tehran has conducted airstrikes against ISIS targets in eastern Iraq, creating a de facto alliance with the United States despite the lack of formal relations between the two longtime adversaries. (Read more from this story HERE)

Watch Rev. Franklin Graham Expose Why Obama Is Really Protecting ISIS

Rev. Franklin Graham appeared with Greta Van Susteren on FOX News on Tuesday to discuss the Obama Regime’s latest Orwellian word games, this time refusing to identify the 21 beheaded Christians as “Christians,” but instead, referring to them as “citizens” and “innocents.”

Rev. Graham, who runs Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization, told Van Susteren that Obama is refusing to “accept and understand the evil that is in front of him.”

“The president is ignoring the fact that these are Islamic extremists,” Rev. Graham told Greta. “And they are bent on destroying the West. They’ve already said they want the flag of Islam to fly over the White House.”

Also on Tuesday, a stunned Rev. Graham wrote on Facebook, “I am perplexed as to why our President will not acknowledge the truth and call Islamic extremism what it is” . . .

“The president, his entire life — his whole influence has been Islam,” he reminded Greta. “His mother was married to a Muslim. His father was a Muslim. Then she married a man from Indonesia. ISIS’ Magazine: Islam Is ‘Religion of the Sword’ not a ‘Religion of Peace’

By Samuel Smith. In the newest edition of its apocalyptic English-language propaganda magazine, the Islamic State terrorist organization refutes the long-standing mantra that Islam is a “religion of peace” and insists that Islam is a “religion of the sword.”

Countering the popular opinion that Islam calls for peace among Muslims and non-Muslims alike, an article in the seventh edition of Dabiq magazine states that Allah calls for Islam to be a religion of violence and any Muslim who believes otherwise holds a heretic view.

“There is a slogan repeated continuously by apologetic ‘du’at’ [callers for Islam] when flirting with the West and that is their statement: ‘Islam is the religion of peace,’ and they mean pacifism by the word peace,” reads the ISIS article, which was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

“How far is their claim from the truth, for Allah has revealed Islam to be the religion of the sword, and the evidence for this is so profuse that only a zindiq (heretic) would argue otherwise.”

ISIS is notorious for its widespread torture and brutality against religious minorities, violators of ISIS’ brand of Islamic law, and apostates. Many Muslims all over the world detest the Islamic State’s violent actions, which include beheadings, burnings and merceless killings, and assert that the group’s actions are not justified in the name of Islam. Apple Fires Employee on Same Day He Was Targeted For His Pro-Family Stand

Tech giant Apple, Inc. has fired an Alabama lobbyist and former state legislator after a local political blog criticized him for his views in support of true marriage.

Quoting complaints by openly homosexual Apple CEO Tim Cook that his home state of Alabama has been “too slow” in embracing a redefinition of marriage to include same-sex couples, Inside Alabama Politics questioned why the company would hire former Republican representative Jay Love to represent them in Montgomery.

“Love was the first Republican in the country to advertise against California’s gay rights decision to strike down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage,” the author noted. “In a campaign commercial Love calls gay marriage a part of the liberal Democratic agenda in Washington that he will fight against.”

“While it isn’t unusual rhetoric from Republicans and even many Democrats running for office, especially in conservative states’ like Alabama, it does seem slightly unusual he was hired as a lobbyist by Apple, unless of course Apple didn’t know of his past stance on the subject of same-sex marriage,” the blog post read.

The blog author also criticized Love for a resolution he sponsored praising 2009 Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean, who sparked outrage from homosexual activists by expressing her belief that marriage is between a man and a woman during the pageant’s Q&A section. Jobless Mother Wins $564 Million Jackpot, You’ll Never Guess Her First Stop

An unemployed mother who came forward to say that she’s one of the three winners of North Carolina’s $564-million Powerball jackpot is sharing her blessing by donating money to her church.

Marie Holmes, 26, from the town of Shallotte in Brunswick, North Carolina, said she also plans to buy a house for her kids . . .

A mother of four kids including one with cerebral palsy, Holmes is overwhelmed and “very grateful” for her winning, saying that she didn’t regularly buy lottery tickets . . .

Holmes said she scared her kids when she told them that she won. “I was telling my kids that we had to struggle no more and I was yelling when I did it. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw the ticket and I actually checked it,” she said.

When asked how did she feel about winning the jackpot, Holmes said, “I don’t think it really hit me yet. I guess when it hits my account, that’s when it’s gonna hit me.” (Read more about the jobless mother winning the lottery HERE)
