Rhode Island City Official Resigns After Having a Man Dress up in DRAG [+video]

A senior services official in Rhode Island has resigned over a bizarre ‘Mrs Doubtfire’-inspired PR stunt involving a middle-aged man disguised as an old lady.

Sue Stenhouse, director of senior services in the City of Cranston, organized a news conference last Tuesday to announce the launch of the Snow Angels program, which encourages local teenagers to help elderly residents during the cold winter months by shoveling driveways and pathways.

The event was attended by the mayor of Cranston, a group of beaming high school students armed with colorful shovels, and what at first glance appeared to be an elderly woman with a name tag that read ‘Cranston Senior Home Resident.’

It has since emerged that the ruddy-cheeked, curly-haired lady wearing pink lipstick and matching clip-on earrings was, in fact, a male van driver by the name David Roberts.

The station WJAR-TV, which aired the original press conference last week, uncovered the ruse in reports this week. (Read more from “Rhode Island City Official Resigns After Having a Man Dress up in DRAG” HERE)
