Anti-Gun Judge Cuts off Domestic Violence Victim’s Impact Statement, Sparking Outrage

By Bizpac Review. A controversial judge is under fire as an Oregon community is in an uproar over his treatment of a domestic violence victim.

The behavior of Multnomah County Judge Kenneth Walker during a domestic abuse sentencing hearing in January has led to multiple complaints being filed with the Oregon Judicial Fitness Commission . . .

“I don’t know if he was preoccupied or had another appointment, but he silenced me in front of my abuser,” Parks, 27, said after the hearing, according to The Oregonian. “I felt so embarrassed.”

The victim also asked herself: “Am I being hysterical?”

At sentencing, Oregon law allows victims the right to “reasonably express any views concerning the crime, the person responsible, the impact of the crime on the victims, and the need for restitution and compensatory fine.” This right has no limits on the amount of time or words. Complaints Filed About Oregon Judge’s Treatment of Domestic Violence Victim

By The Oregonian. Three victims’ rights advocates have filed complaints with the state concerning Multnomah County Circuit Judge Kenneth Walker’s behavior during a domestic abuse sentencing hearing.

On Jan. 29, Dana Parks appeared in Walker’s courtroom to deliver a victim’s impact statement she had prepared for the sentencing of her ex-boyfriend, who had pleaded guilty to felony assault IV, attempted assault and coercion. It was the second time he had been sentenced for assaulting her.

But while Parks attempted to read her statement, Walker interrupted three times and ultimately walked out of the courtroom without allowing her to finish, according to a recording of the hearing.

Complaints about Walker’s actions were filed with the Oregon Judicial Fitness Commission over the last few days by Anne Pratt, vice president of Crime Victims United; Mary Elledge, Portland chapter leader of Parents of Murdered Children; and Danielle Tudor, a rape survivor and victims advocate. Veteran Who Lost a Leg in Combat Gives Most Incredibly Profound, Life-Changing Lesson to David Hogg

Parkland student activist David Hogg got a life lesson from an Army veteran in a “rant” on Facebook advising the high schooler to “watch what you say.”

Derek Weida, a veteran of the 82nd Airborne, addressed Hogg in an epic Facebook post, setting the record straight for the Florida high school senior who has become the face of the anti-gun student movement following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February.

“I empathize with you and your peers because whereas I signed up to be shot at, none of you did,” Weida, who lost his leg when he was shot in 2007 during a mission in Iraq, wrote, explaining how one does not become an expert in something just by having experienced it.

“Now… Guns. Here’s my two cents: It’s not a gun problem, not a people problem, it’s a culture thing. Thing… Not problem. America loves guns. Accept that just like I had to accept that America loves God. Don’t ever be so quick to tell a whoooole lot of people how to live,” the 29-year-old veteran wrote.

He agreed that “NOBODY” wants school shootings to occur and even admitted he’s “actually kinda with the anti-gun folk,” but quickly explained that he has learned it is best not to lecture others on how to live their lives. 1,500-Person Caravan Headed Toward U.S. Gets Bad News, Report Says

On Monday, the 1,500-person caravan headed through Mexico toward the United States received bad news as the Mexican government is now reportedly going to be breaking up the group of people before they can reach the U.S. border.

Adolfo Flores, national security correspondent for immigration at BuzzFeed News, tweeted: “Mexican immigration authorities said they plan on disbanding the Central American caravan by Wednesday in Oaxaca. The most vulnerable will get humanitarian visas.”

Flores also wrote: “Everyone else in the caravan, which has traveled through Mexico for days from Chiapas, will have to petition the Mexican government for permission to stay in the country or will have to leave.”

Flores continued: “JO Rodríguez, a federal delegate with INM, told me this was not in response to Trump speaking out against the caravan. “Mexico is acting without pressure to find a solution to this problem.”

Rodríguez is referring to a series of tweets from President Donald Trump over the last 24-hours, in which he repeatedly slammed Mexico and Democrats for weak immigration policies. (Read more from “1,500-Person Caravan Headed Toward U.S. Gets Bad News, Report Says” HERE)

Disgusting: Facebook Rejects Ad Depicting Jesus for Being ‘Shocking, Sensational, and Excessively Violent’

The Prince of Peace is officially too violent for Facebook. According to the Franciscan University of Steubenville, the tech giant rejected an advertisement for its online degree program in theology, catechetics, and evangelization. The campaign included an image of the San Damiano Cross, a twelfth century rood cross before which St. Francis of Assisi prayed when he had a mystical vision in which the Icon of Christ Crucified instructed him, “Francis, Francis, go and repair My house which, as you can see, is falling into ruins.” The university’s social media administrator received a rejection notice explaining that the image contained “shocking, sensational, or excessively violent content.” Perhaps Christians should count their blessings that Facebook is not yet flagging depictions of Christ reigning from his cruciform throne as “fake news.”

In Facebook’s defense, the Crucifixion was indeed shocking, sensational, and excessively violent: He was arrested, flogged, condemned, made to carry his own cross, brought to the “Place of the Skull,” nailed, raised, fed gall, and pierced through the side with a sword. In the university’s defense, our civilization once considered the Crucifixion and Resurrection to be the most important event in the history of the world. Now one of the most successful enterprises in the history of that civilization deems it too sensational for public consumption.

The stand-up comedian-turned-pop philosopher George Carlin observed in 2005, “When fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jack-boots. It will be Nike sneakers and Smiley shirts. Smiley-smiley.” Jonah Goldberg returned to this theme on the cover of his 2008 bestseller Liberal Fascism, which depicts a Smiley face sporting a Hitler mustache. Fox News Releases Statement About Laura Ingraham’s Future at Network

On Monday, Fox News released a statement on the future of Laura Ingraham after she faced an intense boycott push from far-left activists and Media Matters. The network announced that they are sticking by Ingraham and will not back down to leftist intimidation efforts designed to silence free speech.

In a statement, Fox News co-president Jack Abernethy wrote:

We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts. We look forward to having Laura Ingraham back hosting her program next Monday when she returns from spring vacation with her children.

Ingraham, the host of “The Ingraham Angle,” announced on Friday that she was going to be taking the week off to celebrate Easter with her three adopted children as she faced an intense boycott campaign originating from student gun control activist David Hogg after she tweeted a mild criticism of him last week.

People’s Eyes Are Bleeding After They Take Synthetic ‘Weed’

By Miami Herald. There’s a fake form of marijuana going around Illinois — and it’s making people bleed from their eyes and ears.

The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a warning about synthetic “weed” known as “spice,” “K2” or “Mind Trip” on March 27. At that time, there were six people who reported “severe bleeding” after taking the fake pot since March 7, according to the state department.

That number grew to 22 people in Illinois by March 29, according to The Chicago Tribune. Dr. Melissa Millewich, an emergency room physician at an Illinois hospital, said it’s a new symptom for the drug, which some erroneously view as a safe alternative to pot.

“This bleeding is not expected,” she told the newspaper, “at least in such a significant population so quickly.”

In July, over 100 people overdosed on so-called synthetic pot in a Pennsylvania county over the span of just three days, CNN reported, but no one died. And in 2015, around 700 people in Mississippi reported overdosing after taking the fake marijuana. At least eleven people died in that case. Synthetic Pot May Be Causing Severe Bleeding, Health Officials Say

By BND. State health officials are warning that some people using synthetic cannabis may end up hemorrhaging and should seek medical assistance.

Four people have been hospitalized in the past two weeks with severe bleeding caused by a vitamin K-dependent lack of coagulation, which reduces blood’s ability to clot. The condition is treatable if caught early, according to officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health, which sent out a warning Friday afternoon. U.S. Taxpayers Give Planned Parenthood Cash to Fund Abortions

American taxpayers gave Planned Parenthood $1.3 billion over a three-year period, enough money for every abortion the company provided, including half-a-billion dollars that went to divisions later referred for investigation of their unborn-baby body-parts trade.

That’s according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, whose report for 2013-2015 covered federal money going to federally qualified health centers, which provide a variety of health services. The recipients include International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International, which provide abortions around the world, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America, which provide abortions in America.

Federal obligations to the four organizations or groups totaled more than $26 billion during that time. And while the report confirmed that a significant portion of the funds went to the health centers, which act as “part of the nation’s safety net” for uninsured and the underserved, still hundreds of millions of dollars was sent directly to the abortion industry.

The American Center for Law and Justice said the U.S. Government Accountability Office report “confirms Planned Parenthood received enough federal funds to effectively pay for every abortion they performed in the U.S. from 2013–2015, and that millions in federal funds allocated to Planned Parenthood’s international affiliate, International Planned Parenthood Federation, were directly available to fund abortions abroad.” . . .

The ACLJ report said the GAO report “confirms what we have been saying all along: It is time to hold Planned Parenthood and its allies accountable and end their federal funding.” (Read more from “U.S. Taxpayers Give Planned Parenthood Cash to Fund Abortions” HERE)

Fake News! ‘Settlers Stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque’

By WND. A Palestinian media outlet has posted a story, in Arabic, explaining how “Settlers break into Al Aqsa Square.”

The beginning of the story huffs, “Dozens of settlers stormed the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Jewish Passover holiday with the protection of Israeli police.”

The images of the “storming,” however, show visitors quietly walking, shaking hands, looking at smartphones and engaging in conversation.

A report by JNI Media in Breaking Israel News explained the photographs belied the claims of violence.

“In an Arab media linguistic culture in which every Jew is a settler and every Jewish visit to the Temple Mount is an attack, the Ma’an news agency’s top headline on Sunday morning alerted its readers: ‘Settlers break into Al Aqsa Square.’” (Read more from “Fake News! ‘Settlers Stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque'” HERE)

Arab Media: Dozens of Settlers Stormed Al Asqa Mosque

By Breaking Israel News. In an Arab media linguistic culture in which every Jew is a settler and every Jewish visit to the Temple Mount is an attack, the Ma’an news agency’s top headline on Sunday morning alerted its readers: “Settlers break into Al Aqsa Square.” . . .

Al-Debs added that successive groups of settlers storming the Aqsa Mosque are taking a tour of the Mughrabi Gate, passing through the courtyard and doors of the mosque to the Chain Gate (Heb: Shaar HaShalshelet). Outside the Chain Gate, they organize dances and collective prayers.

“He explained that the settlers performed their rituals and religious prayers during the incursion, and one of them was lying on the ground, and the police took him out of the mosque.

“In recent days, the Temple Mount groups have intensified their call for settlers to carry out mass incursions into Al Aqsa during the Passover days from Sunday to Thursday.”

All of which can only mean one thing: rush to the mikvah, folks, get dressed modestly and go visit the Temple Mount this Chol Ha’Moed (intermediate weekdays of the Passover festival) before Israel Police declare that doing that endangers peace in the Middle East. Allen West Just Reminded the World What the NRA Did With a Black Man in Chicago

During the latest push by the left to impose strict gun control laws, the National Rifle Association has been unjustly maligned as being an evil “terrorist organization” that has blood on its hands and doesn’t mind seeing innocent people gunned down or children massacred in school shootings.

In previous rhetorical assaults on the NRA, the organization has also been ruthlessly smeared as being racist toward minorities, despite the group’s history as being one of the oldest civil rights organizations that came about, in part, to help protect the Second Amendment-guaranteed rights of free black citizens in the post-slavery Reconstruction era.

Former Florida congressman and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Allen West likely had that and a much more recent historical example on his mind when he took to Twitter last week to defend the reputation of the NRA from unjust smears . . .

West had referenced the 2010 Supreme Court ruling in the case of McDonald v. City of Chicago, in which the majority of the court held that the Second Amendment of the Constitution applied on a state and local level as well as federal, by virtue of the “due process clause” of the 14th Amendment, which had been added to the Constitution during the Reconstruction era to guard against states that were not respecting the fundamental civil rights of newly free black citizens.

A SCOTUSblog entry from 2009 while the case had yet to be heard noted the NRA had filed a lawsuit in support of a separate lawsuit by four Chicago residents who were challenging a draconian gun control law which effectively banned all handguns in the city. Trump Administration Sues California Over Federal Land Sales

By Washington Times. The Trump administration has escalated its legal battle with California announcing Monday that the Department of Justice has sued California over a state law that gives California the power to block the sale of federal land to private parties.

Passed in October, Senate Bill 50 went into effect Jan. 1. It gave state officials the right to purchase any federal land in California before the U.S. government sells it. At the time, California officials said the bill was necessary because of fears President Trump would permit drilling or development on the roughly 46 million acres of land in California owned by the federal government.

Justice Department officials say the law violates the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy and Property clauses. The Supreme Clause puts federal law ahead of state law when there is a conflict and the Property Clause gives Congress the power to sell or transfer federal land.

No other state has a similar statute, Justice Department officials said Monday.

“Once again, the California legislature has enacted an extreme state law attempting to frustrate federal policy,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement announcing the lawsuit. (Read more from “Trump Administration Sues California Over Federal Land Sales” HERE)

Trump: DOJ Response to Document Requests ‘an Embarrassment to Our Country!’

By Politico. President Donald Trump derided the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday for “slow walking” requests for documents by congressional Republicans, calling it “an embarrassment to our country!”

“So sad that the Department of ‘Justice’ and the FBI are slow walking, or even not giving, the unredacted documents requested by Congress,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “An embarrassment to our country!”

House Republicans recently subpoenaed the Justice Department for its records relating to the probe of Hillary Clinton’s private email server, with Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) citing “ongoing delays” in the process as an impetus behind the action. The move comes amid intensifying criticisms among Republican leaders of the Justice Department and FBI’s handling of the Clinton investigation.

Democrats have pushed back against the charges, framing them as politically motivated and unsubstantiated. (Read more from “Trump: DOJ Response to Document Requests ‘an Embarrassment to Our Country!'” HERE)
