Socialist Ocasio-Cortez Claims She’s From the Bronx but New Information Shows Where She Really Grew up

The hardscrabble biography of Democrat Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been called into question after the revelation that she grew up mostly in wealthy Westchester County.

Though Ocasio-Cortez, 28, was born in and currently lives in the Bronx, county land records show her late father Sergio Cortez-Roman bought a quaint three-bedroom in Yorktown Heights, New York in 1991, when she was about two.

It is an apparent contradiction with the candidate’s official biography, which states in part: ‘The state of Bronx public schools in the late 80s and early 90s sent her parents on a search for a solution. She ended up attending public school 40 minutes north in Yorktown, and much of her life was defined by the 40 minute commute between school and her family in the Bronx.’

Ocasio-Cortez also boasted on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show that President Donald Trump, born in Queens, wouldn’t know how to handle ‘a girl from the Bronx’ such as herself. . .

Little-known before her shock Democratic primary defeat of 10-term Congressional incumbent Joe Crowley on Tuesday night, Ocasio-Cortez has featured her own hard-luck biography as a key selling point in her insurgent campaign. David Hogg Tweets, Deletes Call for Flags to Be Lowered for Annapolis Victims After Trump Refuses

Gun-control activist David Hogg picked another fight with President Trump on Monday evening — this time over the Annapolis newspaper shootings — and then reconsidered.

Apparently reacting to reports earlier Monday evening that Mr. Trump had rejected a request from the Annapolis mayor to fly U.S. flags at half mast in mourning for the five Capital Gazette workers killed last week, Mr. Hogg called for lowering the flag.

“I think we should fly our flags at half mast for next 5 days #HalfMastForAnnapolis. RT if you agree,” he posted on Twitter at 10:11 p.m. Monday. . .

A few minutes later though, apparently recognizing a mistake he had made in flag terminology, he sent a slightly reworded tweet.

“I think we should fly our flags at #HalfstaffForAnnapolis for next 5 days. RT if you agree,” he wrote, changing to word “halfmast” to “half-staff.”

Trump Interviews Four Candidates as Supreme Court Fight Heats up

By Washington Times. President Trump interviewed four candidates Monday in his search for the next Supreme Court nominee, with two federal appeals court judges emerging as leading contenders for the nomination that could change the complexion of the high court for decades to come.

The White House was giving few details on the candidates while pressing to meet an extraordinarily ambitious deadline to produce a nominee by Monday.

“I had a very, very interesting morning,” Mr. Trump said after meeting with the candidates at the White House for about 45 minutes each. He called the contenders “really incredible people in so many different ways.”

Mr. Trump said he plans to meet with two or three more prospective nominees this week before announcing his decision, his second Supreme Court nomination in less than 18 months.

The president and his team are moving rapidly to find a replacement for Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, the longtime moderate swing vote who announced his retirement last week and provided Mr. Trump with a rare opportunity to move the high court firmly under conservatives’ control. With Justice Kennedy leaving, the court now has two solid contingents of four liberal and four conservative justices. The next justice could be a critical vote on such issues as abortion, same-sex marriage, federal powers and government regulation. One of These Women Could Be Trump’s Supreme Court Pick

By NBC News. President Donald Trump’s short list of contenders to succeed retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy includes two women, he has said, and that could have powerful implications not just for the law but the politics surrounding the choice.

There are six women among the 25 possible nominees Trump has publicly named already, including a federal appellate judge, Amy Barrett, and a Georgia Supreme Court justice, Britt Grant, who were put on the list late last year.

If one of the women is chosen and confirmed, she would become the fifth woman in history to serve on the court and the fourth among the current lineup of justices, joining Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, all of whom were appointed by Democratic presidents.

And, important to both sides on the political spectrum, Trump’s nominee, if it’s a woman, would be the first appointed to the court likely to thrill hard-line conservatives. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who was nominated by President Ronald Reagan, rankled the political right by refusing to upend the controversial Roe v. Wade decision that overturned state laws banning abortion and sometimes siding with the court’s liberals on other issues. ‘Transracial’ Rachel Dolezal Booked on Welfare Fraud Charges

The white woman who gained notoriety by falsely claiming to be black and becoming an NAACP chapter president was booked Monday on charges of welfare fraud.

Rachel Dolezal was also fingerprinted at the Spokane County jail in Washington state, according to a judge’s order that let her be released on her own recognizance Monday evening.

Ms. Dolezal pleaded not guilty last month to first-degree theft by welfare fraud, making a false verification statement and second-degree perjury, Fox News reported.

According to authorities, Ms. Dolezal had reported her usual income as under $500 per month in order to be eligible for state welfare and food assistance, of which she received more than $8,800 between August 2015 and November 2017.

However, according to a subpoena of her bank statements and other records, she had made nearly $84,000 over those three years, from her autobiography, “In Full Color,” from speaking engagements and sales of home-made products. Police Are Fleeing This U.S. City in ‘Mass Exodus’ Over Liberal, Anti-Police Politics

Nearly four dozen police officers have resigned from the Seattle Police Department this year in what is being described as a “mass exodus” over the city’s increasingly liberal and progressive policies. . .

Despite the population of the popular northwestern city skyrocketing, the city’s police force remains at levels seen during the 1970s. Rich O’Neill, vice president of the Seattle Police Guild, told KCPQ-TV the reason behind a large portion of the departures is concerning.

While many of those who have left this year retired, 20 or so left Seattle to work for other cities, states and law enforcement agencies. The reason for the “mass exodus?” O’Neill said officers are frustrated with the city’s liberal policies and a lack of support from local officials.

“It’s just depressing to serve in a place where many City Council members who are coming out at times with negative comments about the police,” O’Neill said, explaining many officers are leaving Seattle for neighboring jurisdictions. . .

Meanwhile, the police guild said Seattle officers have not seen a pay raise in more than three years. However, O’Neill reiterated the exodus has nothing to do with benefits and everything to do with politics. Tragic: Border Patrol Rescues 6-Year-Old Boy Abandoned by Immigrant Smugglers in the Arizona Desert

. . .While on patrol Saturday afternoon, CBP agents came across a tiny 6-year-old Costa Rican boy crouched on the side of the road, clutching a dirty backpack. The child told Border Patrol that his “uncle” — likely a smuggler or human trafficker — had abandoned him in the extreme heat.

“Agents discovered the child west of Lukeville, Arizona and just north of the border, in temperatures over 100 degrees,” a CBP agent spokesperson said in an official press release. “The child told agents he was dropped off by his uncle and that Border Patrol would pick him up. He added that he was on his way to see his mother in the U.S.”

The incident, Border Patrol says, highlights the dangers child migrants face after being sent, usually alone, on a dangerous and illegal journey across the U.S.-Mexico border — echoing the words of the president who said Saturday on Twitter that the lack of border enforcement during the Obama Administration encouraged an increase in risky behavior.

According to current estimates from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, of the approximately 13,000 children in Border Patrol custody, around 11,000 are unaccompanied minors. Never Trumpers Suffer yet Another Utter Humiliation

Last week was especially glorious not just because we rejected the latest GOPe amnesty scheme, not just because we defunded the left’s union cash extortion machine with the Janus decision, and not just because Justice Kennedy is leaving to be the swing vote on his retirement community HOA. It was especially glorious because these enormous victories – these latest enormous victories – were the direct result of normal Americans giving the gimps, grifters, and geebos of Never Trump the George Costanza treatment by doing precisely the opposite of our alleged betters’ political instincts.

Everything they told us was wrong. If we had done what they demanded, we would not be revelling in the joy of conserva-victory. We would be resigned to yet another defeat. “But Gorsuch” indeed, you never-been-kissed band of losers.

If we had listened to Never Trump, we’d have voted for Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit and we would not only have Merrick Garland (or worse) on the SCOTUS but now she’d be picking another pinko who agrees with the lib bloc that the First Amendment has hitherto unknown asterisks that prevent conservatives from using it, that a bunch of other rights that aren’t in the Constitution actually are, and that the Second Amendment stuff about not infringing on our right to keep and bear arms really means libs can totally infringe on our right to keep and bear arms. Let’s leave aside our booming economy and crushing ISIS and pulling out of the climate scam and maybe peace with North Korea. Just these two Supreme Court picks makes Trump the most important and successful conservative president since The Big R. And we wouldn’t have any of it if that nattering pack of insufferable sissies had had their way.

But even today, this dwindling band of bow-tied nimrods still whine despite these manifest conservative triumphs. And their numbers grow fewer as the evidence grows in support of an undeniable conclusion: The election of Donald Trump was a conservative triumph of a magnitude we are only beginning to fully appreciate. Illegal Alien Arrested for Starting Massive Colorado Forest Fire

An illegal alien residing in Colorado has been arrested for arson after authorities charged him with starting a forest fire that has destroyed more than 40,000 acres of land within the state, reports The Daily Caller.

Jesper Jorgensen, nationality unknown, was arrested by the Costilla County police department but will be handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement according to officials. Jorgensen, aged 52, was tracked down by Costilla County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), state arson investigators, the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE). . .

ABC News reports that the “fire is currently burning in a rural, mountainous region in southern Colorado near Great Sand Dunes National Park.” Yesterday, residents were ordered to evacuate their homes.

The blaze has consumed 41,292 acres of land. Authorities are having a difficult time controlling the fire due to non-ideal weather conditions. . .

For those seeking shelter, the Pueblo Chieftain reports that “Two evacuation centers were accepting evacuees overnight, the first at the Huerfano Community Center and the second at the Blanca Fort Garland Community Center. Evacuation centers for animals also were set up at the Las Animas County Fairgrounds and the 4-H barn in La Veta.” (Read more from “Illegal Alien Arrested for Starting Massive Colorado Forest Fire” HERE)

The One Question You Must Ask This Election Season

When you get passed all the pomp and circumstance, there is just one principal difference between you and the legislators in Juneau. Of the 20,000 or so Alaskans in your legislative district, only one has a vote in Juneau. Therefore, only one person is in a position to sell your community’s vote to the bipartisan caucus.

If you are new to Alaska, or new to the way business is being conducted in Juneau today, Legislators decided to create a loophole for themselves when it comes to state ethics Laws. While it is illegal for a politician to sell their vote to you, a voter, it is completely legal for them to sell that vote to the caucus in Juneau. In fact, even before they travel to Juneau, they can literally sell all of their votes to the bipartisan caucus without risk of penalty.

Let that sink in for a moment. Your legislator can sign away every single one of their votes for the next two years to the special interests in Juneau, without any penalty whatsoever. In fact, quite the opposite; in exchange for selling out voters, Juneau will lavishly reward them for “being a team player”.

And if a legislator is feeling particularly detached from voters, he may even make a speech about how selling his vote to the caucus ahead of time is a more “efficient” way of doing government and will help shorten the legislative session.

The rewards a legislator receives for pledging votes to the caucus are substantial and often immediate: A guarantee of additional staff employees, a bigger travel budget, a bigger office in the capitol building, chairmanship of a committee, maybe of two committees, additional assignments on other committees, invitations to closed-door policy meetings, a better parking space at the capitol. You name it; the caucus can be very generous in exchange for a legislator’s votes.

Of course, what the caucus gives it can take away. We saw that last year. Perhaps the single most important vote a legislator casts in any given year, is to endorse the state budget (which this year topped $10 Billion). Last year, Senator Mike Dunleavy and Senator Shelley Hughes voted with their constituents to reject a truly terrible budget proposal. For that vote, their fellow legislators in the bipartisan caucus turned on them. Legislative employees who served the Mat-Su were fired, and out looking for work as soon as their bosses’ vote was cast. Their former bosses were kicked off committees, even committees they had been in charge of only the day before. Their budgets were reduced, they were forced to clear out their offices, and immediately disinvited from policy meetings. You get the picture.

I cannot overstate the effect of this arrangement on legislators. Even legislators on good terms with the caucus know that they are only one vote away from receiving the same treatment that Dunleavy and Hughes received. This year, the newest member of the senate, Senator Mike Shower, refused to give his vote to the caucus from the outset. For refusing to give their vote to the caucus, each of these senators were denied the easy life Juneau.

Your legislator is the only member of your community who can vote in Juneau. The one question they must be asked this election cycle, is what they are going to do with that vote. Ask them: “Will you pledge loyalty to the caucus, in exchange for the good life, or will you reserve that loyalty exclusively for your constituents, even if it means forfeiting the good life in Juneau?

Some elected officials, especially those who’ve been in office a few years, or those for whom politics is a family tradition, over time can come to think of their vote as a personal possession or a family heirloom; part of their inheritance, to be used to enlarge their own standing in Juneau or among the political class.

Once a legislator has gotten to that point, it can be very difficult to find their way home again. Regardless, it is incumbent on each of us, as Alaskans, to ask this question before we give our support to a candidate on Election Day. Whose vote is it? Is it the vote of the people, on loan to their elected legislators, to be cast on their behalf? Or is it the politician’s personal property to be bartered or sold in whatever way makes their life better and easier?

Before you decide to vote for someone, ask them if they are going to sell their vote to the caucus. Their answer will tell you a lot about the kind of legislator they are likely to become in Juneau.

Rep. David Eastman has served in the Alaska State House representing the Mat-Su since 2017; He ran on a platform of fighting for genuine conservative reform, fiscally and socially, and remains committed to delivering on that promise.

Scumbag: Some Jerk Drained the Bank Account of America’s Oldest Living Veteran

Some thief committed identity fraud and stole every penny out of the bank account of America’s oldest living veteran, Richard Overton. The good news, though, is that a previously created GoFundMe has already accumulated more than $300,000 to help recoup the losses.

Richard Overton, aged 112, is the oldest living veteran in the United States. His personal information is readily available online, and his family members say that somebody must have taken it to “hack” into his personal bank account and take his life’s savings.

Someone used his account to purchase savings bonds with Treasury Direct, Richard Overton’s cousin Volma Overton Jr. said. He added that the purchases had been happening for a “couple of months.”

Volma Overton discovered the account discrepancy when he deposited money into Richard Overton’s personal account, then went to the bank to check the balance. All that was in there was the money he had just deposited.

“I looked at it — what the hell are these debits?” Volma Overton recalled thinking when a bank employee pulled up the statement showing the money went to Treasury Direct. He said the bank has been very helpful and that he’s also sent a letter to Treasury Direct. The family has not notified police.
