This Is the Newest Issue Democrats Are Threatening Trump With

House Democrats tweeted their own version of President Donald Trump’s warning to Iran, but instead, made the president and his environmental policies the focus of their rage.

Democrats on the House Committee on Natural Resources told Trump to “NEVER, EVER THREATEN OUR PUBLIC LANDS OR WATERS AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE.

“WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR PILLAGING OF PUBLIC TREASURES,” the lawmakers tweeted on Monday. “BE CAUTIOUS.”

Democrats were likely angered by a Washington Post report claiming Trump administration officials “dismissed evidence that (national monuments) boosted tourism and spurred archaeological discoveries.”

Washington Post obtained documents showing Interior Department officials “rejected material that would justify keeping protections in place and sought out evidence that could buttress the case for unraveling” federal land restrictions. San Francisco’s so Liberal, They Can’t Afford Waiters

The San Francisco Bay Area is a booming locale, and certainly one of the most naturally beautiful. It should be a fantastically desirable place to live.

Yet, according to a recent poll, nearly half of San Francisco residents say they want to leave the Bay Area entirely.

A study from the Bay Area Council, a public policy organization, found that 46 percent of San Francisco residents have plans to move out of the area, a jump of 12 percent since 2016. Of those who participated in the survey, 61 percent said they planned to leave the state, with Texas being a primary destination.

There are certainly many reasons for leaving the Bay Area. Rising crime rates and lawlessness, as well as worsening sanitation, are among them.

San Francisco’s homelessness problem is becoming, at this point, a national embarrassment.

But the top reason for wanting to leave San Francisco, according to the poll, is the cost of housing. As jobs have flowed into the Bay Area, the cost of living has become astronomical.

“Despite the fact that many of the homes and apartments are small and located close together, San Francisco now has the highest rent in the world,” wrote Rachel Alexander in Townhall. “The average monthly rent is $3,500. A median-priced home sells for $1.5 million, but only a paltry 12 percent of residents can afford this.”

The explosive housing costs can’t just be excused as simply the product of a growing economy and urban environment. Other thriving cities such as Nashville and Atlanta are also doing well without the surge in housing costs.

Some have argued that high housing costs are simply due to the natural geographic constraints of older cities.

However, as urban expert Scott Beyer wrote in Forbes, it’s a faulty argument.

“There is much raw, developable land north and south of the city, as well as east of San Francisco and the East Bay cities of Oakland and Berkeley. According to a San Jose Mercury News report, 75 percent of the Bay Area is open space,” Beyer wrote.

“Given these facts, to complain about the region’s geographical constraints is frankly ludicrous,” Beyer wrote. “San Francisco is little different than Atlanta, Houston, or Dallas in the amount of housing development it could theoretically handle.”

So why is housing in San Francisco particularly out of control? Politics.

There is actually plenty of space to grow in the Bay Area, but for over a generation San Francisco specifically has pursued “no growth” policies, deeply restricting the building that can take place in the city.

Strict zoning laws, regulations, and prohibitions on growth prevent residents from filling available space.

This parallels a philosophy that took hold around the state, where no-growth policies combined with draconian environmental restrictions — such as theCalifornia Environmental Quality Act passed in the 1970s — made new building impossible or prohibitively expensive.

The state has tried to counteract this problem by funding more low-income housing, but government meddling is now simply working against other government meddling that created the housing problem to begin with.

The more the plans fail, the more the planners plan, as Ronald Reagan once said.

When the economy boomed over the last decade in the wake of the tech surge, the pressure on the housing market became extreme — especially in San Francisco.

A CityLab article from 2015 explained:

When San Francisco should have been building at least 5,000 new housing units a year to deal with the growing demand to live here, it instead averaged only about 1,500 a year over the course of several decades. In a world where we have the ability to control the supply of housing locally, but people still have the freedom to move where they want, all of this has played out in predictable ways.

Ironically, a city deeply committed to progressive values has become a place where only the super-rich can thrive.

A report from Paragon Real Estate earlier this year showed that the “household income now required to buy a median-priced home in San Francisco reached an all-time high of $303,000 in December.”

These prices are a stretch even for those working in the tech industry; they are becoming impossible to overcome for nearly everyone else.

The situation has become so extreme that San Francisco restaurants are finding creative ways to serve guests without waiters. Waiters can’t afford to live in and around the city, and restaurant owners can’t afford to pay their waiters’ now $15-an-hour minimum wage.

San Francisco is a microcosm of California’s larger problems.

While the state is riding high due to a surging national economy and enormous growth in the tech industry, this success masks fundamental problems below the surface that are doing damage to the Golden State.

Remarkably, California has the highest poverty rate of any state and the lowest rating for “quality of life.”

San Francisco and the state of California have touted their welcoming attitude, embracing sanctuary city policies to shield immigrants who have entered the country illegally.

Increasingly, though, these newcomers, like everyone else, will find it nearly impossible to reach the middle-class lifestyle that California became famous for in the 20th century.

That’s why, even amid economic growth, people want to get out, when it used to be a place where Americans all over the country flocked — the American dream within the American dream.

San Francisco is in no danger of collapse anytime soon, but it’s important to remember that a half-century ago, Detroit was one of the great cities of the world and the heart of the American economy.

Now Detroit is a sad tale of decline and dysfunction.

San Francisco’s natural beauty and appealing climate will likely prevent such a steep fall. The fact that people are desperate to leave at the first opportunity, though, is certainly a canary in the gold mine.

Why This Joe Miller Supporter Is Backing Mead Treadwell for Governor

With the Republican primary for Governor underway, freedom loving Alaskans need to think through the qualifications of the candidates and their backgrounds to determine the best choice. One of the glaring problems Republican voters are grappling with is job qualifications for this office. By all accounts Mike Dunleavy doesn’t have any private sector experience contrasted to Mead Treadwell’s numerous private sector roles spanning 40 years helping to build our economy bring private sector jobs to Alaska and the Arctic. The latest being with PT Capital, an Alaskan Company.

Mike Dunleavy’s experience in the State Senate is without accomplishment, and is marred with obstructionist positions. His inability to even bring fellow conservatives to his side during the budget debacle led to his expulsion from three significant committee positions including Chairman of the Senate State Affairs Committee as well as a key committeeman position in the the Senate Finance Committee: The committee which is tasked with drafting a budget for the legislature’s approval.

During the winter of 2016-17 the State operating budget was debated, and Dunleavy had a key role. He ultimately opted to stifle the budgetary process from occurring even after many cuts to schools, healthcare, and state university system had been made. He proudly boasts this as a selling point for his present campaign. This unfortunate situation set in motion a chain reaction of several conflating problems.

First, Alaska received one of two financial downgrades by Moody’s and one by Fitch in the immediate aftermath. These ratings become critical when the state has to borrow money for various capital improvement projects all throughout the state. Next was Mike’s unceremonious departure from his positions of influence in the State Senate, which shortly thereafter became the real cause of him quitting his post as a State Senator altogether. However, these unforced errors became far worse due to his lack of prudence in this budgetary matter. The state government endured a shutdown due in large measure from his obstruction and political grandstanding prior to announcing his run for Governor early this year.

The end result was Governor Walker opted to perform an end around the legislature to pilfer the Permanent Fund Dividend. Dunleavy’s involvement simply can’t be ignored as he directly contributed to that situation occurring. With his committee position, Dunleavy had the ability to work with, influence, and lead Senate Republicans. The state could have avoided the shutdown, ratings collapse, and PFD takeaway. For his part in that situation, Dunleavy’s role can not be ignored.

Mead Treadwell has always supported growing the Permanent Fund and the paying of the Permanent Fund Dividend. As a business leader of 40 years he helped bring innovations to market like Google’s Street view. As the former Lieutenant Governor, he is clearly the private sector champion. In government he pushed tax cuts as well as privatization, crime fighting initiatives.

Mead’s expertise has also been relied on by three separate U.S. Presidential administrations in varying capacities. Mead served as Chairman for the U.S. Arctic Research Commission under George W. Bush as well as the Chair for Alaska State Lands Advisory Group. As a civic leader, he led Alaska’s efforts to get missile defense for the nation, and have our own defenses here. Treadwell is pro-life from the beginning, and financially sponsored the 2010 parental notification initiative. Dunleavy simply doesn’t have any background, nor experience like this.

When it comes to SB91 Crime bill, Dunleavy voted for it on the floor of the state senate. Later on he voted against the bill during a relatively unimportant house reconciliation vote with the senate. After the bill was signed into law, he failed to support as a state senator any effort by Republicans to repeal the bill that he was partly responsible for passing to begin with. This is a typical tactic some legislators do to hide their support of a controversial bill, and now a crime wave has beset the state due in part to Mike Dunleavy.

The last issue that needs to be also examined is the manner in which Mike Dunleavy has opted to fund his campaign. His brother Frances Dunleavy from Texas has by one account already donated 305,000 dollars to a Super Pac dedicated to supporting his brother Mike. Frances and sports fishing lobbyist Bob Penny combined have collectively donated 555,000 in their bid to purchase the governor’s office. Therefore, they are an active component of this election.

Frances Dunleavy was employed at J.P. Morgan Chase. In 2014, Frances was implicated publicly as a significant person of interest for being apart of a massive scheme to defraud the citizens of California and Midwestern states by manipulating electrical utility prices. The end result was JP Morgan had to pay a 410 million dollar fine to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which subsequently led to his brother’s departure and the revocation of his securities licenses.

Now Frances’ donations are racking up, yet the decision is ultimately yours. Does Alaska need to have the baggage of Dunleavy as Governor? My hope is that you all may consider that there is a better alternative waiting in the wings.

Please consider Mead Treadwell for Alaska’s next Governor. He is a better suited, and experienced candidate who understands the issues confronting the state. This is why I support Treadwell for Governor and so should you.

Mass Fish Die-Off Not Caused by Pollution, Experts Say

Thousands of dead fish washed up in the Mystic River in Everett and Somerville this week, blanketing the muddy shorelines and emanating a stench that customers and employees at a nearby Costco store said could be whiffed from the parking lot.

But city and state officials, as well as local environmentalists, said Thursday that while the sight was alarming, the fish had died due to natural causes.

Patrick Herron, executive director of the Mystic River Watershed Association, said the Department of Environmental Protection and state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife were investigating what he called a “die-off” that left tens of thousands of menhaden — or, as they’re more commonly known, “pogies” — in the area. . .

“The die-off started seemingly on Monday, but on Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday, large numbers of the fish were showing up dead,” he said. “It appears they are in the high thousands, if not in the tens of thousands.”

According to the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, water samples recently taken by MassDEP investigators did not show any problems with oil or hazardous materials, indicating the fish kill was not pollution-related. The water was around 83 degrees Wednesday, they said. (Read more from “Mass Fish Die-Off Not Caused by Pollution, Experts Say” HERE)

Trump Promises Investigation Into Twitter’s ‘Discriminatory and Illegal’ Conservative Ban

President Donald Trump said he will look into reports that Twitter has suppressed some conservative users on the platform with a practice referred to as “shadow banning,” according to The Hill.

. . .

A report from Vice News on Wednesday revealed that some well-known conservative politicians and other public figures were not automatically populating in search results when their names were typed in the search bar.

The full range of users impacted by the “shadow ban” is unknown, but Vice News found it affected accounts for Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. . .

Twitter representatives said the issue is an unintentional result of their efforts to limit the exposure of users who engage in inappropriate, harmful or hateful behavior on the site.

“As we have said before, we do not ‘shadowban,’ Twitter said in a statement. “We are aware that some accounts are not automatically populating in our search box, and shipping a change to address this.” (Read more from “Trump Promises Investigation Into Twitter’s ‘Discriminatory and Illegal’ Conservative Ban” HERE)

I Voted for Joe Miller, and I Support Mike Dunleavy

I am a retired state trooper and chief of police in the state of Alaska. I’ve been a resident for about 48 years. Before that, I was a United States Marine and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. I have worked many years in rural Alaska in law enforcement, from Barrow to Wrangell and Petersburg, as well as Fairbanks and Anchorage. I’ve been in private sector security, heading operations for several of the largest private security firms in the state, guarding military bases and oil fields. I love my country and I love my state. I support conservative platforms and conservative candidates.

During Joe Miller’s run for Senator, on both occasions, I was a strong supporter. This was because, from my point of view, Alaska needs to elect conservatives to political positions in our state government. We are fighting a battle with the far left, but also with the establishment in our own party. Both groups want to take our dividend and both groups believe Alaskans work for them, and not the other way around.

On August 21st, our Republican primary will be held. It is my hope, that we will select a real conservative as our candidate for governor for the state of Alaska. One who actually believes in the conservative principles they espouse, and one who will stand up, for Alaskans.

Currently, there are two main candidates in our primary; former Lt Gov Mead Treadwell and former state Senator Mike Dunleavy. I have nothing to say against Mr Treadwell personally, and from everything I’ve heard and read, on a personal level, he’s a fine man. My worry is that I don’t believe he is a true conservative, or that he can stand up for Alaskans against the influence of special interest and party elites. Quite simply, I think he goes along to get along, and that is not what we need.

Here are a few, significant illustrations:

• He’s a longtime supporter of our senior senator Lisa Murkowski, who does not in any way, hold a pro life position.

• Mead himself, was not endorsed by Alaska Right to Life in his previous race for senate (in which he came in a distant third behind Joe Miller).

• Mead supported Murkowski, over the duly elected Republican candidate in 2010 primary, Joe Miller, joining with Democrats to elect her as a write in candidate.

The fact he would support Murkowski, who did not win the primary, and who lied (having said she would support the nominee) says alot about his political leanings. Joe Miller had run and won the Republican primary fair and square, and Mead abandoned him, and the principles of the primary voters who elected him. This was one of the darkest times for Alaskan conservatives…and Mead was at the center of it, having chosen the political class again, over the will of the conservative voters he purports to represent.

Mead touts his experience, having served as lieutenant governor under Governor Sean Parnell, and yet Governor Parnell has endorsed Senator Dunleavy. I think that speaks volumes as well.

As Lt Gov he made one of the most fateful decisions, in Alaska’s history, by approving the unity ticket of Walker/Mallot, against the disapproval of his own party and a subsequent lawsuit to try and stop it, giving us the past four years of the current administration. In a very real sense, Mead gave Alaska the current administration. This alone should give conservatives pause.

Mead also talks about his private sector experience, citing his work with Alice Roghoff, the former far left owner of the ADN. In the minds of most Republican primary voters I would say this is not something to be particularly proud of.

On the other hand, Mike Dunleavy is a real conservative. He’s spent close to 35 years in Alaska, a lot of that time in rural Alaska as a teacher. When he entered politics, he lead by example and stood with Alaskans over the political class, choosing principle, even in the face of bitter political retribution. He’s proven his fidelity to Conservative ideals and to Alaskans, with the principled stands he has made as a state senator… and he has paid for those stands every time.

On the positions, Mike is adamantly opposed to the unilateral Takeaway of half the PFD of all Alaskan’s by the current governor and could not support the bloated budget of the legislature. Again, he stood for his principles and was punished severely by others in the party for doing so.

Mike voted against SB 91 and has made Law Enforcement, public safety, and the protection of individual Alaskans his number one priority.

On the fiscal side, Mike has put forth a plan to balance the budget of the state of Alaska, without imposing an onerous income tax or taking away half of every Alaska permanent fund dividend check.

For all of these reasons, I’m standing with Mike, but most importantly, I’m standing with him, because he stands with us. Let’s elect a true conservative this August’s primary, and In the general gubernatorial election in November. Let’s elect Mike Dunleavy.

Leaked: Here’s What Michael Cohen Will Reportedly Testify Against President Trump

By The Blaze. A report Thursday says that Michael Cohen, the former lawyer for President Donald Trump, will testify that the president knew about a meeting with Russians he has previously claimed he knew nothing about. . .

The controversial meeting took place in June 2016 at Trump Tower and was attended by Donald Trump Jr., publicist Rob Goldstone, Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, and various Russians with connections to the Russian government.

Trump Jr. admitted that he was seeking damaging information about Hillary Clinton ahead of the election. In emails that he posted to his Twitter account, Trump Jr. had accepted the meeting organized by Goldstone, who said the information was coming from the Russian government. He also claimed Russia supported Trump’s presidential campaign. . .

According to sources that spoke to CNN, Cohen is willing to testify that he was present when Trump Jr. told then-candidate Trump about the meeting, and that he saw Trump approve of the meeting. . .

In a combative interview on CNN Thursday, Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani called Michael Cohen a liar and an unreliable witness. He said that Cohen lacked all credibility, and that it could actually damage any case if his testimony was included. Michael Cohen Wants Gag Order Against Stormy Daniels’ Attorney for Alleged Smear Campaign

By ABC News. Michael Cohen’s efforts to muzzle one of his chief antagonists will be before a federal judge in Los Angeles on Friday, as President Donald Trump’s long-time fixer seeks a gag order against Michael Avenatti, the outspoken attorney for adult-film star, Stormy Daniels.

Cohen’s lawyers have likened Avenatti to a “small-town carnival magician,” and have accused him in court filings of a deliberate smear campaign against Cohen involving more than 170 television appearances and upwards of 500 tweets “during which he routinely accused Cohen of various criminal acts” and of “being a moron.”

“Mr. Avenatti’s actions are mainly driven by his seemingly unquenchable thirst for publicity,” wrote Cohen’s attorney Brent Blakely in a court filing earlier this month.

Avenatti has called the request for a gag order “a complete joke and baseless.” He has been unrelenting in his public criticism of Cohen, even as the former Trump Organization executive has publicly signaled a break with the president – and an apparent willingness to cooperate with federal prosecutors. Federal Judge Orders State to Pay for Gender Reassignment Surgery for Medicaid Recipients

Wisconsin must pay the gender reassignment surgery for two transgender Medicaid recipients, a federal judge in Madison has ruled. . .

Cody Flack of Green Bay and Sara Ann Makenzie of Baraboo filed a lawsuit in April that claimed that Wisconsin’s denial of coverage for transgender surgeries violated the Affordable Care Act and their “equal protection rights,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. . .

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge William Conley granted a preliminary injunction to bar enforcement of the rule. Conley also suggested the injunction be expanded to include “any transgender Medicaid patient whose doctor recommends the surgery,” according to the report.

“The likelihood of ongoing, irreparable harm facing these two individual plaintiffs outweighs any marginal impacts on the defendants’ stated concerns regarding public health or limiting costs,” Conley wrote in a 39-page order. . .

According to the report, Flack has “cerebral palsy, uses a motorized wheelchair and “relies on Supplemental Security Income for the disabled as his sole support,” the report said. He reportedly first identified as a boy at age 5. (Read more from “Federal Judge Orders State to Pay for Gender Reassignment Surgery for Medicaid Recipients” HERE)

Obama Knowingly Funded Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate

By Daily Wire. A new report released on Wednesday revealed that the Obama administration knowingly provided an Islamic terrorist-financing organization with hundreds of thousands of dollars despite the fact that the group had been designated as a terrorist-financing organization for a decade by the U.S. government.

Obama officials approved the release of well over $100,000 even after they were informed that the Khartoum-based Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA) was affiliated with Osama bin Laden and Maktab al-Khidamat (MK), which eventually became al-Qaeda.

ISRA, also referred to as the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), received a $200,000 taxpayer-funded grant from the Obama administration, which released at least $115,000 to the terrorist-financing organization. . .

World Vision had informed the USAID in 2014 that ISRA was on the designated terrorist organization list and subsequently had to wait for an assessment from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) before they could receive the money.

OFAC confirmed in January 2015 that ISRA was a designated terrorist organization and rejected World Vision from obtaining “a license to engage in transactions with [ISRA].” (Read more from “Obama Knowingly Funded Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate” HERE)

Obama Administration Knowingly Funded a Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate

By National Review. The Middle East Forum has discovered that the Obama administration approved a grant of $200,000 of taxpayer money to an al-Qaeda affiliate in Sudan — a decade after the U.S. Treasury designated it as a terrorist-financing organization. More stunningly, government officials specifically authorized the release of at least $115,000 of this grant even after learning that it was a designated terror organization.

The story began in October 2004, when the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated the Khartoum-based Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA), also known as the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), as a terror-financing organization. It did so because of ISRA’s links to Osama bin Laden and his organization Maktab al-Khidamat (MK), the precursor of al-Qaeda.

According to the U.S. Treasury, in 1997 ISRA established formal cooperation with MK. By 2000, ISRA had raised $5 million for bin Laden’s group. The Treasury Department notes that ISRA officials even sought to help “relocate [bin Laden] to secure safe harbor for him.” It further reports that ISRA raised funds in 2003 in Western Europe specifically earmarked for Hamas suicide bombings.

The 2004 designation included all of ISRA’s branches, including a U.S. office called the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA-USA). Eventually it became known that this American branch had illegally transferred over $1.2 million to Iraqi insurgents and other terror groups, including, reportedly, the Afghan terrorist Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. In 2010, the executive director of IARA-USA and a board member pled guilty to money-laundering, theft of public funds, conspiracy, and several other charges. Suspect Arrested After Trump’s Hollywood Star Is Destroyed

President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was destroyed early Wednesday morning, allegedly by a man wielding a pickax.

Los Angeles police told The Hollywood Reporter that a call came into the department around 3:33 a.m. about the star’s destruction.

Police added that a 25-year-old man had been taken into custody around 6:20 a.m. regarding the incident and had been booked for felony vandalism.

KNBC reporter Jonathan Gonzalez tweeted: “Multiple people — including police — tell me a man walked up with a guitar case and pulled out the pick axe.

“Then, it’s believed, he called police himself to report it, but left the scene before they got here.”

Wednesday’s incident marks the second time Trump’s star has been completely destroyed.

In October 2016, 53-year-old James Lambert Otis was taped taking a pickax and a sledgehammer to the iconic symbol.

Otis later pleaded no contest to felony vandalism and was fined $4,400 for the damage and was sentenced to three years probation and 20 days of community service, Politico reported.

“Trump’s star has experienced minor vandalism before, such as being spray painted and having a tiny wall built around it,” according to Politico.

The star is located near the highly trafficked Dolby Theater (site of the Academy Awards ceremony) on Hollywood Boulevard.

Deadline reported that is was dedicated in 2007 in recognition of Trump’s work on the successful NBC reality television program “The Apprentice.”

There are more than 2,500 stars on the Walk of Fame, which are maintained by the Hollywood Historic Trust and chosen by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber responded to a petition to remove Trump’s star from the Walk in 2016 by saying it was staying.

“Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Leron Gubler, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president, told the Los Angeles Times. “Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.” (For more from the author of “Suspect Arrested After Trump’s Hollywood Star Is Destroyed” please click HERE)
