Jury Reaches Verdict in Manafort Case

A federal jury in Northern Virginia on Tuesday reached a guilty verdict in 8 of the 18 counts of bank and tax fraud brought against former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

CNBC reported that the jury found Manafort guilty of five counts of tax fraud.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s legal team called 27 witnesses in the trial, including Manafort’s former business associate Rick Gates, who also worked on President Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016.

Gates entered a plea agreement earlier this year admitting to conspiracy and making false statements to federal investigators.

He has not yet been sentenced.

All the charges brought against Manafort and Gates are not related to their work on the Trump campaign, but they are connected to consulting work they did for Ukraine and other matters.

Fox News reported earlier on Tuesday that the 12 member jury had passed a note to presiding Judge T.S. Ellis asking, “If we cannot come to consensus on a single count…what does that mean for the final verdict?”

The judge responded that this would not be “exceptional” and said the jury could reach a “partial verdict.”

Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy told Fox News that Mueller’s team could retry Manafort on the counts to which the jury was not able to reach a verdict.

But, he added, “It’s always good news for the defense if the jury can’t resolve the case.”

In May, Ellis upbraided Mueller’s prosecutors suggesting they lied about the scope of the Russia investigation, and the true purpose of the criminal case against Manafort, which is to bring down Trump.

“You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort,” Ellis said. “You really care about what information Mr. Manafort can give you to lead you to Mr. Trump and an impeachment, or whatever.”

Renowned legal scholar Alan Dershowitz argued last month that Mueller is squeezing Manafort in hopes of making him “sing” or even “compose” against Trump.

“I used to teach my first year criminal law students that if you commit a crime in America always commit a crime with someone more important than you are so you can flip on them and they can’t flip on you. That’s what’s going on here,” Dershowitz said.

Manafort also faces charges in federal court in Washington, D.C., regarding failing to register as a foreign agent.

Here’s How Much Pervert Kevin Spacey’s New Film Earned on Opening Day…

. . .The sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey have begun to take their toll on his box office numbers. “The Billionaire Boys’ Club,” which opened in 11 theaters Friday, made only $126 at the box office. It is a record-breaking low.

The film, which also stars Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton and Emma Roberts, was filmed before Spacey’s fall from grace. Starting last October, more than 20 people have come forward to accuse the actor of inappropriate behavior, sexual harassment and assault. The first allegation came from Anthony Rapp, an actor who alleged that Spacey had made sexual advances on him in his New York apartment in 1986. There were many more accusations where that came from. Some of Spacey’s victims were emboldened to come forward last year in the height of the “Me Too” movement.

In June, Vertical Entertainment explained their decision to go ahead and release “The Billionaire Boys’ Club” with Spacey’s scenes intact.

“We hope these distressing allegations pertaining to one person’s behavior — that were not publicly known when the film was made almost two-and-a-half years ago and from someone who has a small, supporting role in ‘Billionaire Boys Club’ — does not tarnish the release of the film,” Vertical told THR. “In the end, we hope audiences make up their own minds as to the reprehensible allegations of one person’s past, but not at the expense of the entire cast and crew present on this film.” (Read more from “Here’s How Much Pervert Kevin Spacey’s New Film Earned on Opening Day…” HERE)

Michael Cohen Reaches Plea Deal With Feds; Surrenders to FBI Hours Before Court Appearance

Michael Cohen admitted to the court that he violated campaign finance laws at the direction of a candidate for federal office, Bloomberg tweeted:

According to the outlet, Cohen said that he was “directed to violate campaign law at the direction of a candidate for federal office. At the same candidate’s direction, he said he paid $130,000 to somebody to keep them quiet, which was later repaid by the candidate.”

Though Cohen did not identify the people involved, the facts match Cohen’s payment to Stormy Daniels and Trump’s acknowledged repayment, Bloomberg noted.

The prosecutor told the judge the purpose of the payments was to ensure that the individuals did not disclose “alleged affairs with the candidate.” Besides the $130,000 payment, Cohen admitted to making an illegal contribution of $150,000, which was how much McDougal received from the National Enquirer’s publisher to quash her story.

Poll Reveals America’s Number One Problem

A recent Gallup poll revealed that a plurality of Americans view the government as the No. 1 problem facing the country. . .

More than one in five voters (21 percent) told pollsters that dissatisfaction with some facet government or poor leadership was the most important problem the U.S. faces today.

Immigration and illegal aliens came in second at 16 percent. That’s a six-point drop from July, when voters said immigration was the leading problem in the country — pushing government out of the top spot. During that time, stories of the separation of illegal alien parents and children dominated headlines as the Trump administration announced it would fully enforce immigration laws. . .

In January 2017, the month President Donald Trump was sworn in, 11 percent of Americans named the government the top problem. As rancor in Washington, D.C., has increased over the last 19 months, that percentage has increased markedly — hitting a high of 25 percent in both June 2017 and January 2018.

Great but Doomed: Rand Paul Introduces Promise-Keeping Amendment to Defund Planned Parenthood

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., wants Republicans to fight to defund Planned Parenthood in the government spending bill currently making its way through the United States Senate.

In a statement released Friday, Paul said it was time for Republicans to change words into action.

“One of the top priorities for a Republican Congress that professes pro-life values on the campaign trail should be to stop taxpayer funding for abortion providers. This is our chance to turn our words into action, stand up for the sanctity of life, and speak out for the most innocent among us that have no voice,” he said.

According to Paul’s office, the amendment would not block health care providers that do not perform abortions from receiving federal funding.

In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood received a total of $543.7 million in federal funding at the taxpayer’s expense.

According to The Hill, Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., warned that Paul’s amendment would be a “spoiler” to the massive Defense, Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and Education funding bill. GOP leadership has promised to avoid adopting “poison pill” proposals to these funding bills.

What that means, in plain English, is that Senate leadership is unwilling to force the Democrats to choose between funding abortion providers with taxpayer dollars or shutting down the government. Murdered babies aren’t worth the effort for most Republicans. Yesterday while giving a speech, Cruz summed up his immigration views in so simple a way that even liberals can understand.

He’s not pretending to go to the middle, he’s not pretending to be moderate.”

Watch: Trans Activist Slanders ‘Conservative A**Hole’ Ben Shapiro for ‘Catcalling’ Ocasio-Cortez, Gets Everything Wrong

In a fallacy-filled YouTube video posted last week, intersectional feminist and transgender activist Riley J. Dennis gushes over Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and goes off on Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro for allegedly believing he’s “entitled” to a debate with the democratic socialist.

For those who aren’t up to speed, Shapiro, in response to Ocasio-Cortez saying Republicans are “scared” of her, offered $10,000 to the open socialist’s campaign or to charity if she were to discuss her views with him on his Sunday Special show, or debate the issues. Bizarrely, Ocasio-Cortez responded by accusing Shapiro — a nerdy (sorry, boss) Orthodox Jew who literally wrote the book condemning our oversexed culture — of “catcalling” her. . .

Echoing the same absurd talking points of the Left, Riley spewed lie after lie about Shapiro, whom he referred to as a “conservative a**hole,” before the heated shpiel turned into a rant about how he doesn’t like conservatives asking him to debate his beliefs.

“Today we’re talking about debates, and whether or not you have the right to other people’s time,” Riley starts the video. “The reason we’re talking about this is because recently some conservative a**hole on the Internet demanded that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez debate him,” he said. . .

Of course, this is a lie. Shapiro merely called out Ocasio-Cortez for calling him sexist and claiming he had bad intensions without any evidence; he didn’t continuously harass her as Riley suggests. “Discussion and debate are not ‘bad intentions.’ Slandering someone as a sexist catcaller without reason or evidence does demonstrate cowardice and bad intent, however,” replied Shapiro, adding, “But sure, go with ‘the Orthodox Jew who has never catcalled a woman in his life is ACKSHUALLY a sexist catcaller for asking for a discussion or debate.’ I’m sure your media sycophants will eat it up.” [Narrator: They did.]

Leftists Are Suddenly VERY ANGRY That Donald Trump Deported a Nazi

Tuesday morning, the Trump Administration announced that it had struck a deal with Germany to return the last remaining Nazi on American soil after more than a decade of negotiations, and that the (much hated) Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency had descended on the Queens home of 95-year-old Jakiw Palij.

You’d think that there’s nothing more unifying than deporting a Nazi prison camp guard, but you would be wrong. Somehow, leftists, including a writer at GQ and a content creator for the left-leaning site, Upworthy, were pretty miffed that Trump — and ICE — got the win.

“New media artist” Thom Dunn was adamant that nabbing the Nazi was actually part of a nefarious plot on the part of the Trump Administration to disguise its own Nazi connections.

“These ICE agents don’t realize that someone else will come for them when they turn 95,” Dunn opined in a now-deleted tweet. . .

When more rational Twitter users pointed out that it is indeed a good thing that America is no longer home to a Nazi war criminal — even if he happens to be an elderly man, well beyond being a threat to his neighbors — Dunn doubled down, suggesting again that Trump’s actions were part of a cover-up. Country May Execute Its First Non-Violent Female Activist

Saudi Arabia’s Public Prosecution is seeking the death penalty against a female human rights activist for her non-violent activist work.

According to Human Rights Watch, Israa al-Ghomgham is facing the death penalty along with four other activists for charges including “‘participating in protests in the Qatif region,’ ‘incitement to protest,’ ‘chanting slogans hostile to the regime,’ ‘attempting to inflame public opinion,’ ‘filming protests and publishing on social media,’ and ‘providing moral support to rioters.’” All of the activists and one additional activist who is not facing the death penalty, have been held in pretrial detention without legal representation for over two years.

The grounds for execution are reportedly based on ta’zir, a principle of Islamic law that gives a judge discretion over the sentence and definition of what constitutes a crime.

Al-Ghomgham is a Shia and the first female activist to ever face the death penalty, which, if executed, will set a dangerous precedent for other detained activists. She was arrested on December 6, 2015 after participating and documenting the 2011 demonstrations in the Eastern Province and calling for an end against discrimination for Saudi Shias.

In 2014 eight men were sentenced to death for their participating in the 2011 Eastern Province demonstrations, and an additional 14 were sentenced to death in 2016. (Read more from “Country May Execute Its First Non-Violent Female Activist” HERE)

Medical Website Indulges Trans Community With New Term for Female Genitalia

A health information site titled Healthline, which serves a reputed 85 million people a month, is offering an “LGBTQIA Safe Sex Guide” that stipulates the word “vagina” is no longer appropriate for that part of the female genitalia. Instead, the proper term for that orifice is . . . “front hole.”

But why, you may ask? Why is a term that has been used for ages suddenly jettisoned in favor of the term “front hole?” The LGBTQIA Safe Sex Guide writes:

For the purposes of this guide, we’ll refer to the vagina as the “front hole” instead of solely using the medical term “vagina.” This is gender-inclusive language that’s considerate of the fact that some trans people don’t identify with the labels the medical community attaches to their genitals.

The term “front hole” has been bandied about for a while; last January Bustle quoted “sex educator” Kenna Cook pontificating, “Language for sex that is coded in anatomy is meant to reinforce a heteronormative, reproductive-based idea of sex … The terms people use for their sexual body parts are a large contributor to them feeling comfortable engaging in certain sex acts.
