Desperation: Ludicrous Tactics of Kavanaugh Opponents Sink to New, Hilarious Low

Read on for the baseball-related punchline, but first consider the shambolic state in which the Kavanaugh resistance finds itself a few weeks prior to his scheduled Senate hearings. Two major newspapers reviewed the available evidence, quizzed their sources, and reached nearly identical verdicts over the weekend: The organized Left’s opposition to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is flagging, unfocused, and perfunctory — and even some the activists and partisans who’ve set out to derail his confirmation are privately conceding that their efforts will likely prove futile. The Washington Post reports that internecine blame games are already underway, as liberal activists grapple with the realities that are starting to set in. If you’re passionately anti-Kavanaugh, every line of this lede is pretty bleak:

Democrats have all but acknowledged that they are unable to stop the Senate from confirming Trump nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court this fall. Moderate Republican senators such as Susan Collins of Maine, the most closely watched GOP swing vote, are sending strong signals that they will back Kavanaugh. Several Democrats facing difficult reelections this year have indicated they are open to voting for the judge. And leaders of the resistance are already delivering post-mortem assessments and blaming fellow Democrats for a looming failure. Barring a major revelation, the Senate is poised to install the 53-year-old Kavanaugh on the high court and take the next step toward fulfilling President Trump’s pledge to remake the Supreme Court — and the wider federal judiciary, potentially for decades.

The piece tracks GOP moderate Sen. Susan Collins’ apparent journey toward a ‘yes’ vote, noting that she’s voted to confirm every single SCOTUS pick to make it to a floor vote during her tenure in office, regardless of the president’s partisan affiliation. It quotes Chuck Schumer lamenting the difficult dynamics of the fight (“we always maintained it was an uphill fight”) and defending his decision not to pressure his caucus by intensely whipping votes against Kavanaugh (“punishment is not how this place works”). And it chronicles the frustration of activists who stew over what they see as Democrats’ lack of resolve: Schumer “speaks and acts in contradictions,” one complains. Brian Fallon, a spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign, also blasts Senate Democrats for determining “out of the gate that this was an unwinnable fight.” Fallon has been reduced to impotent, furious pronouncements on Twitter:

Watch: Gun Control Group Launches Ad Campaign to Prevent ‘Family Fire’ Shootings

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the Ad Council and Droga5 have partnered together to launch the “End Family Fire” ad campaign, which focuses on encouraging parents to store firearms in a gun safe.

The campaign defines family fire as “a shooting death or injury involving an improperly stored or misused gun found in the home. Incidents include unintentional shootings, suicides and other gun-related tragedies.”

According to a 2015 survey that was published in the Journal of Urban Health, more than 4.6 million children live in a home with loaded firearms that are not properly stored.

“We can all agree, eight children being unintentionally shot and injured or killed every day is simply unconscionable,” Kris Brown, co-president of the Brady Center said in a statement. “Just like the term ‘designated driver’ changed perceptions about drinking and driving, the term ‘Family Fire’ will help create public awareness to change attitudes and actions around this important matter. This is a nonpolitical issue where gun owners and non-gun owners alike can come together and play a role in reducing the number of innocent lives lost to gun violence.”

The “End Family Fire” campaign is relying on media outlets to donate ad space for its cause. FOX Networks Group, Bustle Media Group, Refinery29, Upworthy, Meredith Corporation and the Condé Nast portfolio have all donated to the cause. Zenith USA has donated media relations support. Trump Directly Addresses Omarosa’s Worst Allegation Against Him

President Donald Trump was accused by his former White House aide and “The Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault of using a horribly racist word, and he directly addressed the claim on Monday. . .

In a pair of tweets from his official social media account, the president denied the claim from Manigault that he had used the “n-word,” and that there was an audio tape of him doing so.

Trump was referring to Manigault’s statements defending him against charges of racism before the 2016 election and after she joined his administration.

The alleged tape figures a central role in Manigault’s book, where she says that she sought to uncover the evidence of racism until she was fired by White House chief of staff John Kelly. She recorded the conversation when she was fired and subsequently released that audio recording.

Trump had attacked Manigault’s credibility earlier on Monday, saying that she begged him for a job at the White House after she had been a contestant at “The Apprentice” without winning three times. “She was vicious, but not smart,” he tweeted.

Judge Makes Stunning Decision in Muslim Extremist Compound Case After Charges of Racism

In a hearing Monday, a New Mexico judge found that suspects in a bizarre child abuse case were not a danger to the public, and released them on bond. . .

Two Muslim men and three women are charged with 11 counts of child abuse each after police raided their compound in New Mexico and discovered 11 malnourished children living in squalor.

Their lawyer argued that there was a double standard in the case because his clients were Muslims. He argued that if they had been Christian and white, “we might not be here today.”

Despite law enforcement authorities saying that they believe that the children were being trained to attack innocents, and that the adults were radicalized, Judge Sarah Backus released the suspects. . .

The Taos County Sheriff’s office raided the compound after police in Georgia informed them of a message coming from one of the denizens saying they had no food or water and needed help.

Chinese Man Tests His Crazy Homemade Roller Suit in Rush-Hour Traffic

The internet is a strange and wonderful place sometimes because without it, how would we ever find out about people like this guy who built a remote-controllable wheel suit and took it out in Chinese rush-hour traffic?

. . .

As you can see in the video, there are plenty of opportunities for this guy to get turned into roadkill by a truck or an absent-minded driver, but somehow the fun only ends when the cops show up and arrest him. Strzok Tweets Gofundme Link After FBI Firing – Here’s How Much He’s Raised

Peter Strzok, the anti-Trump FBI official at the center of the “deep state” allegations, opened a new social media account and posted a link asking for donations from the public after being fired Monday. . .

It was a statement explaining how the Deputy Director of the FBI had overruled the decision to punish Strzok with “a 60-day suspension and demotion from supervisory duties was the appropriate punishment.”

“This decision should be deeply troubling to all Americans,” the letter continued. The statement made the claim that “the decision to terminate was taken in response to political pressure, and to punish Special Agent Strzok for political speech protected by the First Amendment, not on a fair and independent examination of the facts.” . . .

After only being active for 12 hours, the donation page reached its goal of $150,000, and increased its goal to $350,000. The page stated that the funds would go towards Strzok’s legal defense and his loss of income.

Allies of the president have used the released texts from Strzok to his mistress and FBI lawyer Lisa Page to substantiate claims of an orchestrated effort to defeat the president and his policies. Strok denied that the texts proved anything beyond his personal contempt for the president, and the Inspector General’s report said there was no evidence his personal bias interfered with his professional conduct. ICE Uncovers Major Ring of Businesses Using Illegal Alien Labor

In a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid on Thursday, over a dozen people were arrested for hiring illegal immigrants for cheap labor.

Warrants were obtained for 11 of the businesses in Minnesota, Nebraska and Nevada, according to the Washington Times.

133 illegal immigrant workers were detained in the findings as well.

According to Kare 11 News, ICE agents carried out their search warrants on Christensen Farms locations in Appleton and Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, as well as in Atkinson, Nebraska. Several other Nebraska farms were also raided.

Minneapolis’ Star Tribune reports that “Christensen Farms is one of the largest pork producers in the country, with nearly 1,000 employees and firms in several Midwest states.”

ICE also reported that “they may also have been exploited as part of this alleged criminal conspiracy.”

More specifically, they predict that the illegal immigrant workers were coerced into working in rough conditions by force and by threat of being reported.

In addition, the migrants had to cash in their paychecks at a remittance business, where taxes were removed but not given to the government.

“These illegal aliens were allegedly required to cash their paychecks at an illegal remittance business for a fee, have tax money deducted from their pay even though this money was never paid to the government and were coerced to remain quiet about this criminal activity,” an ICE news release said.

“These targeted businesses were knowingly hiring illegal workers to unlawfully line their own pockets by cheating the workers, cheating the taxpayers, and cheating their business competitors,” Tracy J. Cormier, special agent in charge at Homeland Security Investigations in St. Paul, Minnesota, said.

Seventeen of these people were identified as the ring leaders. Arrests haven’t been made on a handful of them.

ICE reported that this raid was a part of a 15-month investigation of the companies who were accused of hiring immigrants illegally.

Those who were arrested have been placed in custody until their cases are processed.

Of the 133 illegal immigrant workers, some will remain in detention, but some will be released with a future court date.

This is with the hope that they will be deported when their case is finished.

One activist from the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee, Brad Sigal, found the raid cruel.

“You can’t just look at the Trump presidency and see this as an isolated case — that suddenly he cares about the rights of workers,” he said. “This is just one more attack on the workers, whose lives are going to be dramatically worsened by this.” (For more from the author of “ICE Uncovers Major Ring of Businesses Using Illegal Alien Labor” please click HERE)

The Obama Admin Interfered in Two Elections, and Crickets

Thursday on his nationally syndicated radio program, LevinTV host Mark Levin pointed out the hypocrisy of the Democrats’ hysteria over foreign interference in American elections.

Levin reminded listeners that the State Department under the Obama administration used taxpayer dollars to build a campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Israeli parliamentary election.

“Now if the Israeli government had a Robert Mueller, I suppose they could’ve indicted Obama … for interfering with their election. Would anybody have had a problem with that?” Levin said.

Listen:

“Here we have the Obama administration knowingly interfering in an election in Israel, and providing $350,000 of our tax dollars. Shortly thereafter, ladies and gentlemen, the Obama administration would interfere with our election. … Here we have the Obama administration caught red-handed, and I do mean red-handed, and nothing,” Levin said.

Levin added that no Obama official, including Obama himself, has ever been held to account for that interference.

“History is a bitch to the Left, isn’t it? … They hate it, unless of course they can spin it. … There are no lengths to which the Left won’t go to achieve its outcome.” (For more from the author of “The Obama Admin Interfered in Two Elections, and Crickets” please click HERE)

Scientific Study Reveals Something Amazing About Religious People

By The Daily Caller. Religious affiliation actually prolong one’s life through positive social effects according to a recent study of obituaries in Iowa and across the nation.

Laura E. Wallace of Ohio State University, one of the study’s authors, found that among the social factors that affect one’s physical health and longevity, religion plays a large and observably positive role. Her findings showed that people who had active religious affiliations in life lived an average of 10 years longer than their non-religious counterparts in Des Moines, and an average of five years longer nationally.

“Being healthy doesn’t just mean going to the gym and eating well. Our social worlds have such a large influence on our health as well. Religion is clearly one of these factors that makes a big difference,” Wallace said, according to PsyPost.

“Religion has a strong relationship with longevity. Our research suggests that, in part, this is due to the opportunities that religion provides to make social connections and give back to the community,” she added.

Researchers for the study, which was initially published in Social Psychological and Personality Science, analyzed 505 obituaries from the Des Moines Register and a further 1,096 obituaries from across the country. The parameters of the study, however, presented some drawbacks, according to Wallace. (Read more from “Scientific Study Reveals Something Amazing About Religious People” HERE)

Do Religious People Really Sleep Better?

By Psychology Today. Years of research have shown that religious involvement is associated with many dimensions of good health. Among patients with cancer, for example, religion is associated with fewer physical symptoms and better functioning. Additional research has found significant correlations between religion and better mental health.

Do people who are involved in religion also sleep longer and better? A recent study addressed this question by reviewing seven relevant studies. Here’s what they found:

1. People who were religiously involved were more likely to get at least 7 hours of sleep per night. Interestingly this association was found only for those from what were described as “liberal-to-moderate” religions (e.g., Presbyterian) and not among those from “conservative” religions (e.g., Baptist).

2. People who regularly attend religious services are more likely to report sound sleep quality. This effect was found for those who attended religious services at least once per week; attending less often was not associated with an advantage.

3. People who believe that God is in control of their life report better sleep quality. A similar effect was found for those who believe that their body is sacred, though only among those who also ascribed control to God. (Read more from “Do Religious People Really Sleep Better?” HERE)
