Trump Breaks His Silence on Proposed Border Deal

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he was not “happy” with the border deal negotiated by bipartisan committees in the House and Senate to fund border security and avert a government shutdown.

“Am I happy at first glance? I just got to see it. The answer is no, I’m not. I’m not happy,” Trump told reporters in the White House just before a Cabinet meeting. But he added that he is “thrilled” with the direction his administration is going, “because we’re supplementing things, and moving things around, and we’re doing things that are fantastic and taking from far less, really from far less important areas.”

Congress must reach a deal to fund the government by Friday, or else a second government shutdown of this year will be triggered. A bipartisan group of lawmakers assigned to committees in the House and the Senate to draft a deal behind closed doors presented their agreement Tuesday. The proposed deal would give Trump far less than the $5.7 billion he requested to build a wall, and it would specifically prohibit the construction of concrete barriers. Instead, the deal would reportedly appropriate $1.375 billion for physical barriers and the construction of 55 miles of fencing, while also reducing the number of overall ICE detention beds from 49,057 to 40,520. Under this deal, the wall would not be built and Congress would limit the ability of immigration enforcement to enforce the law.

President Trump did not say he would reject the deal. He did predict that the government would not shut down and insisted that his administration would finish construction of the wall.

“The bottom line is we’re building a lot of wall,” Trump said.

It is unclear how Trump intends to finish the wall. His comment about “moving things around” seems to echo a Politico report from Monday night that the White House is considering an executive order to shift money from Army Corps of Engineers’ flood projects and disaster relief to fund construction of the wall. Trump also reiterated his right to declare a national emergency to fund the wall, though he did not definitively say whether he would do so. West Virginia Lawmaker Faces Calls to Resign From Both Parties After Comparing Homosexuals to the KKK

By CNN. Delegate Eric Porterfield, who represents West Virginia’s 27th district, has a history of anti-LGBT stances. But things came to a head last week during a House meeting over a proposed amendment to an anti-LGBT-discrimination bill.

During the February 6 meeting Porterfield called the bill, which would include LGBT people as a protected class under the state’s Human Rights Act, “bigoted,” “intolerant” and “discriminatory.” . . .

Porterfield called his critics “brutal monsters” and called the LGBT community a “terrorist group.” He also compared them to the KKK.

“The LGBTQ is a modern-day version of the Ku Klux Klan, without wearing hoods, with their antics of hate,” he reportedly said. (Read more from “West Virginia Lawmaker Faces Calls to Resign From Both Parties After Comparing Homosexuals to the KKK” HERE)

Porterfield Stands by Statements

By Advocate. Last week Democrats in West Virginia called on Republican Delegate Eric Porterfield to resign after he made anti-LGBTQ remarks. . .

“You have an adorable daughter and a precious son. What would happen if in a few years from now when they’re teens, young adults they came to you and said they think they might be gay or a lesbian?” WVVA TV reporter Rachel Anderson asked Porterfield.

“I will address my daughter first. I would take her for a pedicure. I’d take her to get her nails done and see if she could swim,” Porterfield replied.

“If it was my son, I would probably take him hunting. I would take him fishing and see if he could swim,” he said, grinning.

Airline Sues Passenger for Missing Flight

A method commonly used by airline passengers to get cheaper fares is at the center of a court row between a German airline and one of its customers.

Lufthansa has taken a passenger, who didn’t show up for the last leg of his ticketed journey, to court in an apparent bid to clamp down on “hidden city” ticketing.

The practice involves passengers leaving their journey at a layover point, instead of making a final connection. . .

Back in 2014, United Airlines and Orbitz filed a civil lawsuit against 22-year-old Aktarer Zaman, who founded the website Skiplagged.com, which helps travelers find cheaper flights by using the “hidden city” strategy. (Read more from “Airline Sues Passenger for Missing Flight” HERE)

Insanely Creepy Stories That Prove Your Phone Is Listening to Everything You Say

1. Four years ago we moved from a place we’d lived at for several years. A couple of months ago I opened Safari on my phone and was going to search for a restaurant. The auto-complete on the first letter suggested the obituary of our next-door neighbor who had passed away three years ago (a year after we moved). I was very chat-over-the-fence close to him while we were neighbors but didn’t cope well with his sickness. I never even knew his last name until Google taught it to me in the bizarre auto-complete from the letter ‘R’. That unsettled me a bit. . . .

[2.]Not mine, but my sister was watching a documentary or some sort of program on Netflix, and the program involved a funeral. They were picking out a headstone, and different funeral arrangements, the usual. The next morning, she wakes up, and every ad in her Facebook feed is for headstones and other funeral related items. No deaths in the family or any other potential search that could’ve sparked it. . .

[3.] I had bought cookie dough and my mom joked she was going to eat it raw I told her she could get sick. Couple hours later opened up Google and there’s an article about how eating raw cookie dough is dangerous. I never googled this subject. . .

[4.] Went to go pick up a dress with my friend yesterday – we had looked online for pics of it, and couldn’t find any. Today, instagram “suggests” a pic of a girl in that exact dress. . .

[5.] I was literally thinking about buying a sleeping mask because I’ve been having trouble sleeping due to being very light sensitive. What’s the first ad I see on Instagram? HEY THERE! WANNA BUY A SLEEPING MASK???

Man Abused at Age 9 by His Priest Uncle Says Catholic Church Harbors a ‘Pedophile Mafia’

By Life Site News. A man who says his uncle, a longtime priest in the Diocese of Buffalo, sexually assaulted him when he was just nine years old has gone public with his story, displaying for the world the anguish and turmoil the incident has inflicted upon him for more than two decades.

Ryan Cooley, now age 33, made it clear in a televised interview that he never wants to see his uncle again, and that from his perspective, the Church harbors within the priesthood a “pedophile mafia.” . . .

Cooley kept the abuse he suffered at the hands of his uncle to himself for two decades before finally sharing his secret with another member of his family two years ago.

His uncle “needs something worse than prison,” asserted Cooley. He’s “a creeper,” who has “no moral compass at all. I honestly believed that he preyed on that fact that I didn’t have a father in my life.”

Siobhan O’Connor, Buffalo Bishop Richard Malone’s former assistant who famously tore back the curtain of diocesan deceit protecting its predator priests last fall, responded to Ryan Cooley’s testimony by saying, “The Fr. Art Smith case always bothered me to my core even when I didn’t know the half of it.” (Read more from “Man Abused at Age 9 by His Priest Uncle Says Church Harbors a ‘Pedophile Mafia'” HERE)

Four in Five Vatican Priests Are Gay, Book Claims

By The Guardian. Some of the most senior clerics in the Roman Catholic church who have vociferously attacked homosexuality are themselves gay, according to a book to be published next week.

Eighty per cent of priests working at the Vatican are gay, although not necessarily sexually active, it is claimed in the book, In the Closet of the Vatican.

The 570-page book, which the French journalist and author Frédéric Martel spent four years researching, is a “startling account of corruption and hypocrisy at the heart of the Vatican”, according to its British publisher Bloomsbury.

It is being published in eight languages across 20 countries next Wednesday, coinciding with the opening day of a conference at the Vatican on sexual abuse, to which bishops from all over the world have been summoned.

Martel, a former adviser to the French government, conducted 1,500 interviews while researching the book, including with 41 cardinals, 52 bishops and monsignors, 45 papal ambassadors or diplomatic officials, 11 Swiss guards and more than 200 priests and seminarians, according to a report on the Catholic website the Tablet. Cory Booker Says the Earth ‘Can’t Sustain’ People Eating Meat. Liz Cheney Fires off Meat-Eaters’ Response in One Tweet.

On Tuesday, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) had a pointed response to Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), who is a vegetarian and was quoted saying that the earth “can’t sustain” people eating meat. Cheney tweeted, “Hey @CoryBooker I support PETA – People Eating Tasty Animals. @BeefUSA#WyomingBeefCountry.”

As The Daily Wire reported, Booker had spoken to VegNews about his belief that ”industrially produced animal agriculture” was having a deleterious environmental impact on the earth. VegNews reported:

While claiming he does not want to lecture Americans on their diets, Booker says Americans need to be nudged into fake cheese because the planet cannot sustain the “environmental impact” of the food industry. “You see the planet earth moving towards what is the Standard American Diet,” Booker said. “We’ve seen this massive increase in consumption of meat produced by the industrial animal agriculture industry.”

. . .

Booker co-introduced the Green New Deal, which had its own problems with cows. He stated:

Climate change is a pressing and serious environmental and economic crisis that threatens the way of life for our kids and grandkids. This challenge must be met with a commitment from the federal government that is commensurate with the level of commitment we saw in this country during the original New Deal. And that’s exactly the type of determination this proposal brings. Communities of color, low income communities, indigenous communities and our family farmers are on the front lines of climate change, and I’m particularly encouraged that this blueprint addresses climate change in a way that promotes both economic and environmental justice.”

Survey: 66% of ‘Pro-Abortion’ Americans Oppose Third-Trimester Abortions

According to a YouGov/Americans United for Life joint survey conducted last week, even 66% of those who consider themselves “pro-choice” oppose third-trimester abortions. YouGov is a popular non-partisan polling firm, and Americans United for Life describes itself as America’s first pro-life organization. YouGov and Americans United for Life surveyed 1,145 American adults, overall. . .

The survey provides ammunition for those who have criticized the recent spate of late-term abortion legislation across numerous state legislatures as extreme and out of touch with most Americans — including even most self-described “pro-choice”-ers.

Americans United for Life President and CEO Catherine Glenn Foster issued this statement, in response to the survey:

“This survey vividly reveals both the American people’s common-sense appreciation for the sanctity of life and the widespread horror, even among self-identified pro-choice Americans, of new laws like New York’s that effectively allow abortion up until the moment of delivery. Planned Parenthood and elected officials like Governor [Andrew] Cuomo who support abortions up to the point of birth are out of step with not only their supposed core constituents, but also our country’s essential tenets of life, liberty, and the opportunity to pursue happiness. It is our hope that the critical information brought to light here will advance the democratic process by inspiring more Americans to hold their representatives and public institutions to account.”

Senate Has Uncovered NOTHING Linking Trump Campaign and Russia

By NBC News. After two years and 200 interviews, the Senate Intelligence Committee is approaching the end of its investigation into the 2016 election, having uncovered no direct evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to both Democrats and Republicans on the committee.

But investigators disagree along party lines when it comes to the implications of a pattern of contacts they have documented between Trump associates and Russians — contacts that occurred before, during and after Russian intelligence operatives were seeking to help Donald Trump by leaking hacked Democratic emails and attacking his opponent, Hillary Clinton, on social media.

“If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” said Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, in an interview with CBS News last week. . .

Sen. Mark Warner, D.-Va., ranking member of the committee, told reporters in the Capitol Tuesday that he disagrees with the way Burr characterized the evidence about collusion, but he declined to offer his own assessment.

“I’m not going to get into any conclusions I have,” he said, before adding that “there’s never been a campaign in American history … that people affiliated with the campaign had as many ties with Russia as the Trump campaign did.” (Read more from “Senate Has Uncovered NOTHING Linking Trump Campaign and Russia” HERE)

Mueller Probe ‘Going to Get to Russian Conspiracy’

By Newsweek. Special counsel Robert Mueller will “get to Russian conspiracy” in the ongoing investigation into whether President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign conspired with Moscow, former federal prosecutor and legal analyst Glenn Kirschner said.

Trump campaign officials “could collude, they were colluding, and all of this is so nefarious,” Kirschner said in a Tuesday interview with MSNBC’s Deadline: White House news program. “It’s not reckless, it’s not happenstance, it’s not careless,” he said.

Kirshner discussed comments made by prosecutor Andrew Weissman, which were reported by The New York Times from a hearing for Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort. In a redacted transcript of the hearing, Weissmann suggested that Manafort was supposed to be the spokesperson for an allegedly Kremlin-linked plan to split Ukraine, a move that would work in Russia’s favor. Weissmann was arguing before the judge that a plea deal with Manafort should be thrown out because he had violated its terms, as he allegedly continued to have contacts with an associate linked to Russian intelligence, and had lied to investigators.

The Democratic Party Is Being Engulfed by Anti-Semites, Alleged Rapists, and Racists

. . .Moving on from the happenings on the Hill, we jumped across the river into Virginia, where Richmond is still a dumpster fire. Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam, Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, and state Attorney General Mark Herring are all engulfed in scandal. Northam and Herring wore blackface and Fairfax has been slapped with two allegations of sexual assault. No one can resign because that would mean the Republicans would take over. Fairfax has called on the FBI to investigate the claims and for due process, which is odd given that Democrats didn’t afford any of that to then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The Left’s rules have been turned against them.

The Green New Deal is a total disaster, as its creators had to take down the FAQ page because it was so ridiculous, and it would cost trillions. It’s a socialist wrecking ball. Everyone knows it, and yet, virtually the entire 2020 Democratic field thus far has signed onto it. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) described it as a noble venture akin to fighting Nazism and landing on the moon.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) are both at it again. Omar has faced immense backlash after she went on another anti-Semitic rampage. This time about the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). The entire Democratic leadership condemned her, forcing Omar to issue a non-apology apology. And while the Left dealt with its anti-Semitism issue, President Trump and Bob O’Rourke held dueling rallies in El Paso, Texas. The president’s event was obviously the better-attended rally. So-Called Protector of the First Amendment Gets a T-Shirt Banned Because It’s ‘Offensive’ to Journalists

. . .[T]he leftist “defenders of Democracy,” who parade under the guise of journalists, seem to only want First Amendment protections for themselves. After all, to them conservative media doesn’t count and they believe anything critical of journalists who let their leftist bias get in the way of the facts should be condemned. . .

But the t-shirt is no longer being available at the retail giant. Why? A journalist demanded it be taken off the shelves.
