Gorsuch Sides with Liberal Justices in Hunting Case

By Townhall. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch broke with conservatives and sided with the liberal wing of the Court on Monday.

The case, Herrera v. Wyoming, called into question a federal treaty from 1868 that allowed members of the Crow Tribe of Indians to hunt on “unoccupied lands of the United States” when Wyoming was admitted to the Union. Clayvin Herrera is a tribal member who hunted in the Bighorn National Forest and was charged for hunting during the off season. The Supreme Court had to decide if the treaty was still in effect or were nullified when Wyoming became a state in 1890. (Read more from “Gorsuch Sides with Liberal Justices in Hunting Case” HERE)

Gorsuch Breaks with Conservative Justices, Delivering Win to Native American Hunter

By Fox News. One of President Trump’s nominees sided Monday with the liberal wing of the Supreme Court for the second time in two weeks, as Justice Neil Gorsuch joined a narrow majority in support of a Native American man convicted for hunting in a national forest. . .

The opinion by Justice Sonia Sotomayor – and joined by Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Stephen Breyer, and Gorsuch – ruled that the treaty indeed still applies, and that Crow member Clayvin Herrera was improperly convicted of off-season hunting in Bighorn National Forest in 2014.

The court’s 5-4 ruling, which vacated the decision from the state appellate court, is based on the 1999 decision in Minnesota v. Mille Lacs Band of Chippewa Indians. In that case, the Supreme Court said that a territory gaining statehood is not enough “to extinguish Indian treaty rights to hunt, fish, and gather on land within state boundaries.” The court went further in that case, stating that Congress “must clearly express” an intention to end a treaty with a Native American tribe in order for the treaty’s rights to expire.

By siding with the traditionally liberal justices, Gorsuch gave them a 5-4 majority in the case.

The opinion came exactly one week after Trump’s other nominee, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, sided with liberals in a 5-4 decision that he wrote, ruling that Apple could be sued by iPhone owners over high prices in their App Store. Al Jazeera’s Disgraceful Holocaust-Denying Video Showcases Qatari Evil for All to See

Over the weekend, Qatari regime propaganda outfit Al Jazeera published and subsequently took down an unfathomably anti-Semitic video that questioned the number of Jews murdered by the Third Reich, accused Jews of exploiting the unprecedented genocide of the Shoah in order to curry favor for a Zionist state, and argued that Zionism itself is ideologically derivative of genocidal Nazi ideology. The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) deserves much in the way of credit for exposing this and helping to shame Al Jazeera into taking down the vile video.

This is truly awful stuff. Although it ought not to be breaking news that Al Jazeera, which is funded by the lavish terror-supporting emirs of the duplicitous Qatari regime and which previously served as the preferred mouthpiece for Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, has a wee bit of an institutional anti-Semitism problem. As anti-Islamism activist David Reaboi wrote in The Washington Times in February:

Since Qatar’s most prominent export — the state-owned television network Al Jazeera — was founded in 1996, the [Muslim] Brotherhood has played a crucial role in programming and setting the editorial line, providing the network’s strong ideologically Islamist backing. …

In fact, Al Jazeera is the world’s most successful, sophisticated and influential state-directed information operation.

It is remarkably aggressive in service of Qatar’s foreign policy interests, which include four key elements: (1) undermining the stability of its neighbors, especially Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates; (2) promoting Islamists like the Muslim Brotherhood in vulnerable, Western open societies; (3) financially and diplomatically supporting violent terrorist groups like Hamas, al Qaeda and the Taliban; and (4) assisting the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, Iran, in evading US sanctions as it seeks to develop nuclear weapons.

Here’s Where 2020 Democrat Presidential Candidates Stand on Late-Term Abortion

A recent analysis from Politico specifically stated that no 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have come out against “late-term” abortions and that most of the candidates support no restrictions — which means they support allowing abortions all the way up until the moment of birth — even though they may try to avoid the issue by being too vague. . .

Here’s where all the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates stand on the issue of abortion:

Bill de Blasio: De Blasio slammed the Alabama pro-life bill as “vile and illegal.” De Blasio explicitly signaled support for late-term abortions earlier this year when he said that he “applaud[ed]” New York’s new law that effectively allows abortion up until the moment of birth.

Cory Booker: Booker said at a town hall: “I support the law of the land as it stands right now, which is Roe v. Wade.”

Booker voted “NO” in the Senate this year on a bill that would’ve required doctors to provide medical care to infants born alive after an attempted abortion.

NFL Star Smacks Alyssa Milano over Abortion

On Sunday, pro-life advocate and NFL star Benjamin Watson took actress and abortion activist Alyssa Milano to task over her claim that laws restricting abortion would be “catastrophic” for black women. Watson chalked up Milano’s comments as “ignorance, racism, or some combination of both,” and asked the actress to stop patronizing black people.

Watson was reacting to Milano’s appearance on CNN last week. Pro-life laws “will affect the communities of color more than anything,” the actress told CNN host Chris Cuomo. “I feel like any woman of privilege that lives in one of these states — if this goes through — they’re gonna be able to travel to a state to get a safe, uh, reproductive health care (abortion). But for the women of color, for the women that are marginalized, for the women that are low-income communities, for the women that are most at-risk, these bill will be catastrophic.” . . .

“[For Alyssa Milano] to claim that giving MORE children of color the right to be born will negatively affect ‘women of color’ reveals IGNORANCE, RACISM or some combination of both,” Watson blasted.

Though Milano and others in the pro-abortion crowd are disingenuously framing recently pro-life laws as racist, abortion bans in Georgia and Alabama would save the lives of black babies more than any other demographic. And, of course, the laws have an exception for the life of the mother. So the logic that the laws are racist is flawed, to say the least. Christian Father Imprisoned for Homeschooling

A Cuban Evangelical pastor sentenced to two years in prison for homeschooling his children says his family has endured “psychological pressure and a war on behalf of authorities” for refusing to allow the Castro regime to indoctrinate his children into communist ideology.

His remarks form part of a petition to the Organization of American States (OAS) for a precautionary measure protecting Rigal and his wife, Ayda Expósito – who was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for the same crime of “acts contrary to the normal development of a minor.” Homeschooling is illegal in Cuba and legal schools are of notoriously low quality, prioritizing the development of submissive citizens over life and professional skills.

A precautionary measure prompts the OAS’s Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to act rapidly to prevent “imminent risk of irreparable harm to persons or groups of persons in the 35 OAS member states.” Cuba remains an OAS member despite violating the organization’s requirement that all members be democracies for over half a century.

The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), a nonprofit advocacy group defending the right to home school, and the Global Liberty Alliance, a legal defense fund dedicated to defending the defenders and advancing justice in places such as Communist Cuba, filed the petition for a precautionary measure on behalf of the Rigal family.

“The persecution of homeschooling parents is an assault the family and parental rights. These young Christian families, and the independent lawyers in Cuba who make a valiant effort to defend them, are at the tip of the spear in defense of religious liberty and fundamental individual rights,” Jason Poblete, an attorney in Virginia with the Global Liberty Alliance, told Breitbart News. “If you’re interested in helping, share this story with your friends and in your social media networks. The HSLDA will soon provide additional tools to help get the word out to policymakers to help support these families in Cuba.” (Read more from “Christian Father Imprisoned for Homeschooling” HERE)

Dem Who Attacked Pro-Life Teens Apologizes… To Abortion Supporters

Pennsylvania Democrat Rep. Brian Sims sent out a fundraising email in which he repeated how “angry” he is and doubled down on his attacks against pro-life protesters praying outside of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.

In a fundraising email letter, published by New York Post reporter Salena Zito, Sims urged people to contribute to Planned Parenthood. He apologized to abortion advocates because his “aggressive” and “inappropriate” behavior toward the pro-life protesters created a “distraction” from support for the abortion vendor.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker, who identifies himself as an LGBTQ activist and the first openly gay lawmaker in Pennsylvania, had no real apology for pro-life supporters for berating, bullying, and threatening to dox them. Instead, he doubled down on his rebukes of their prayerful protests outside of Planned Parenthood clinics.

“I’m angry that pro-life protesters use white privilege and racism to attack people of color in my district and across the nation, for seeking critical health care,” he wrote, continuing:

I’m angry that despite abortion being legal everywhere, anti-choice zealots are causing panic, anger, confusion, and rage for so many women. I’m angry that little by little what amount of abortion and reproductive care that we have will crumble to Republican legislatures and legislation. I’m angry that women can’t access the care they need and deserve.

RINO Romney Calls GOP Rep. Justin Amash’s Support Trump’s Impeachment “Courageous”; Trump Calls Amash A “Loser”

By Fox News. Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., became the first Republican to publicly accuse Trump of engaging in “impeachable conduct” stemming from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s lengthy investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election – earning the little-known congressman praise from Democrats, derision from Republican leadership in the House, and a mixed response from other lawmakers. . .

One member of Congress who was not a fan of Amash’s comments on impeachment was House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who claimed that his colleague was just seeking attention when he made his comment.

“This is exactly what he wants, he wants to have attention,” McCarthy said on “Sunday Morning Futures.” “You’ve got to understand Justin Amash. He’s been in Congress quite some time. I think he’s asked one question in all the committees that he’s been in. He votes more with Nancy Pelosi than he ever votes with me. It’s a question whether he’s even in our Republican conference as a whole.”

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, offered a more nuanced appraisal of Amash’s comment, saying on Sunday that he thinks the congressman was “courageous” for speaking against party line . . . Trump Calls Representative Justin Amash a ‘Loser’ over Impeachment Talk

By The New York Times. President Trump attacked Representative Justin Amash as a “total lightweight” and “loser” on Sunday, a day after the Michigan Republican said Mr. Trump’s behavior as president had reached the “threshold for impeachment.” . . .

“Never a fan of @justinamash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy,” Mr. Trump wrote in a midmorning Twitter riff that included, among other things, criticism of the “Fake News Sunday Political Shows” and boasts about his judicial appointments and health care policies.

“Justin is a loser who sadly plays right into our opponents hands!” he added. (Read more from “Trump Calls Representative Justin Amash a ‘Loser’ over Impeachment Talk” HERE)

Trump Says It’s “Great” Mayor Pete’s “Husband” Is Campaigning with Him; Buttigieg Attacks Trump, Confesses He Joined Military for Politics

By Fox News. 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg thinks it’s nice that President Trump is cool with his marriage to another man, but what really interests him is how the Trump administration handles LGBT policies.

“That’s nice,” Buttigieg said during an interview on NPR. “I’m more interested in policies that affect LGBTQ people” . . .

Trump said last week that he thought it was “great” seeing Buttigieg campaign alongside his husband Chasten, and added that he had “no problem with it whatsoever.”

“I think it’s absolutely fine. I do,” Trump said during an interview of Fox News’ “The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton” that is set to be aired Sunday. “I think it’s great. I think that’s something that perhaps some people will have a problem with. I have no problem with it whatsoever. I think it’s good.” (Read more from “Trump Says It’s “Great” Mayor Pete’s “Husband” Is Campaigning with Him; Buttigieg Attacks Trump, Confesses He Joined Military for Politics” HERE)

Buttigieg Confesses His Military Service Was for Political Purposes

By CNN. . . . Buttigieg rarely reveals that his path to the military actually came from a presidential race. As a volunteer for Barack Obama’s campaign in Iowa 12 years ago, he said he felt guilty that so many young people in rural communities were signing up for the Army or National Guard.

“I might have dragged my feet on it forever if I hadn’t had that experience in Iowa and just realizing that some communities were almost emptying out their youth in the military and some were barely serving at all,” Buttigieg told CNN. “And I wanted to be on the right side of that gap.”

Asked whether he thought at the time that his military service could help aid a future political career, he replied: “There have been times in our history when being in the military was popular. There have been times when it’s been unpopular.”

He added: “You never really know when you sign up what it’s going to be like over the years.” (Read more from “Buttigieg Confesses His Military Service Was for Political Purposes” HERE)

Surprise! Learning About Cotton in School Is Now Considered Racist

I currently live in Arlington, Va., and do not vote in local elections. It’s not that I don’t want to vote, but there is literally no one even close to sniffing on the ballots who could even pretend to be anywhere close to being a conservative. The problem isn’t my lack of desire, it’s that I don’t have anyone to vote for. As one of the most progressively leftist communities in this country, my local government is completely devoid of any representation of my beliefs and values. So, I was not surprised to read ARLNow’s article about an Arlington elementary school teacher who has found herself in hot water for having her students study cotton. . .

Catherine Ashby, the Director of Communications for [Arlington Public Schools], tells ARLnow that a teacher planted cotton seeds in pots as an experiment to see how they would grow. Social media posts about the experiment from the teacher prompted objections from other educators.

“She tweeted about her experiment and what she was growing, and that’s what got other staff members upset about what she was doing,” said Ashby.

. . .

One Twitter user, who said her name was R. Jones, shared a screenshot of the email. She told ARLnow that a school staff member had forwarded it to her and they were both “angry and offended” about the racial undertones of a teacher planting cotton.

Oh, my word! Angry and offended about the racial undertones of a teacher planting cotton?!? (Read more from “Surprise! Learning About Cotton in School Is Now Considered Racist” HERE)

Bill De Blasio’s Presidential Campaign Could Backfire — and Leave Him Jobless

By The Blaze. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio added his name to the already crowded field of Democrats vying for their party’s presidential nomination and a chance to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020 last week. . .

The city’s “committee on mayoral inability” — a five-member body of elected officials — could declare De Blasio “temporarily unable to discharge the powers and duties,” effectively removing him from office, if he abandons the Big Apple on the path to the White House. . .

The city charter explains that mayoral succession was designed for instances where the city’s mayor is removed by the governor or times when the mayor is too sick to perform his duties, but leaves open the possibility for “other” reasons, including when the mayor is absent from the city. . .

However, former New York City Major Rudy Giuliani, who now works as a personal attorney to President Donald Trump, said De Blasio will not be missed in the city — whether he’s there or not. (Read more from “Bill De Blasio’s Presidential Campaign Could Backfire — and Leave Him Jobless” HERE)

Bill De Blasio Could Lose His Job over White House Bid If He’s Not Careful

By NY Post. Mayor Bill de Blasio’s presidential dreams had better not make him too neglectful of his day job — or he could lose it, under a never-before-used clause in the city charter.

The poison pill buried in the document’s dense legalese is the “committee on mayoral inability,” a five-member body with the power to declare the mayor “temporarily unable to discharge the powers and duties” of the office.

Comptroller Scott Stringer — who has publicly worried about the mayor’s distraction — is a member, along with City Council Speaker Corey Johnson and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., the longest-serving of the city’s five beeps.

The committee would also include two mayoral appointees, Corporation Counsel Zachary Carter and a deputy mayor to be named later, by de Blasio himself. (Read more from “Bill De Blasio Could Lose His Job over White House Bid If He’s Not Careful” HERE)
