Medieval Diseases Are Present in Los Angeles

Homelessness has skyrocketed in the state of California. Los Angeles in particular has witnessed a massive increase. Between 2018-2019 the county’s homeless population grew by 16%. The city of Los Angeles experienced a similar phenomenon as its population grew at a slightly slower rate. The thousands of new people calling the streets their home has far surpassed the city’s sanitary capabilities. The sheer amount of people now eating and defecating in the California heat has allowed previously rare diseases to proliferate. It has reached the point where there is a real threat of a bubonic plague outbreak occurring in Los Angeles. . .

Reform California says that there have been 124 confirmed cases of Typhus in Los Angeles County. Typhus has not been the only medieval disease to reappear. The bubonic plague — the same one that wiped out a third of Europe over 600 years ago — could be present in LA today, according to The New York Post. The Bubonic plague has been nearly non-existent in LA with only three cases of it in the past 40 years, but experts believe that there could already be plague victims present in the city.

The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has admitted that the state has a problem. “Our homeless crisis has increasingly become a public health crisis … And now, typhus [is] in Los Angeles. Typhus. That’s a medieval disease. In California. In 2019,” he said. He is expected to sign AB-932 which is a bill to produce more shelters for homeless people. The legislative piece recently passed the state senate, but how much it will help address the complex problem remains to be seen. (Read more from “Medieval Diseases Are Present in Los Angeles” HERE)

White ‘Feminist’ Dad: I’ll Say ‘F*** You’ to MAGA Hat Wearers, They’re Racists. Black Commentator Fires Back One Picture.

Last Thursday, a self-described “Feminist” dad and “Gun Sense Reform Advocate” who happens to be white posted an incendiary tweet in which he said he would say “#F***Trump and f*** you” to anyone he saw wearing a MAGA hat in public, calling MAGA wearers “racist, xenophobic, homophobic, misogynistic, bigoted hate-mongers.”

[WARNING: Explicit language used numerous times in tweet.]

One black YouTube commentator from Tennessee had a succinct response:

One white woman attempted to pontificate to Logan why he was misguided, bloviating, “So you actively enjoy voting and going against your own self-interests? What exactly about this narcissistic madman white supremacist makes you want to side with him? REAL examples please. I’ll wait.” . . .

Of Course, a Massive Lie Was Peddled at the Tlaib-Omar Presser

Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) were supposed to on a trip to Israel today until their support for the viciously anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement caused them to be barred from entering. This is established policy. This shouldn’t be shocking to anyone. BDS advocates for Israel’s destruction. Barring Omar and Tlaib was the right call. The two held a press conference in Minnesota, where the gruesome twosome railed against the Israeli policy of so-called occupation. Omar alleged that she had planned to meet with members of the Israeli Knesset and said it was wrong for the Netanyahu government to bar duly-elected members of Congress from entering the country. She also lamented that Jewish-American and Muslim communities were being othered and peace can only be achieved by working together.

Tlaib noted that history was repeating itself with their ban from going to Israel, saying that the late Rep. Charles Diggs was banned from visiting apartheid South Africa. So, these two are now just like him or something. They’re not. She also said that at least 70 other members had traveled to Israel without incident. I bet those members didn’t support BDS though.

She also railed against the separation walls, the “dehumanizing” Israeli checkpoints, and made a note that there are scores of Palestinian-Americans who cannot see their families in the West Bank. Talib said that we as a country should be deeply disturbed by that development.

. . .

Also, Omar, the queen of anti-Semitism trope peddling, speaking about how Jewish communities are being othered is just rich.

Trump Defunds Planned Parenthood; Arizona Jury Awards Whistle Blower Ex-Director Millions

By Life Site News. Nearly two years after Mayra Rodriguez sued the abortion provider Planned Parenthood for wrongful termination after she exposed negative health complications for women using their services, a jury awarded the Arizona woman $3 million in damages this past Friday.

Rodriguez worked for the abortion behemoth for 17 years. In 2017, she was fired by her employer “after repeatedly making claims that Planned Parenthood was endangering the health and safety of their patients,” according to LifeNews.com Specifically, Rodriguez reported “high complication rates for one abortionist” and also “exposed the abortionist’s illegal conduct falsification of affidavits and patient records, incomplete abortions, and failure to report a minor who had an adult partner and was a victim of statutory rape.”

Rodriguez, who ran three Planned Parenthood clinics in Arizona, turned to Abby Johnson’s “And Then There Were None” non-profit. Johnson, herself a former Planned Parenthood director, started the non-profit to encourage women to leave the abortion industry and reveal the truth about the organization. . .

Planned Parenthood receives more than $500 million annually from United States’ taxpayers for their activities. But, President Donald J. Trump’s administration recently won a significant legal hurdle which allows the federal government to block organizations, like Planned Parenthood, that receive Title X funding from using this money towards abortions. Planned Parenthood receives about $60 million each year from Title X funding. (Read more from “Woman Awarded $3 Million After Being Fired for Exposing Planned Parenthood’s Cruelty” HERE)

Planned Parenthood Leaves Federal Program, Loses Funding for Low-Cost Services

By KCCI. Planned Parenthood announced Monday that it will not comply with a new Trump administration rule banning it from referring patients for abortion services.

In doing so, the nonprofit reproductive health care organization will no longer be eligible to receive federal Title X funding for family planning.

In Iowa, Planned Parenthood officials said Title X funds provided low-income patients with birth control and cancer screenings.

“Planned Parenthood will do everything in our power to continue to care for our patients and we will need to make up this money through some private funding (and) private donations to ensure all patients can get that health care they need,” said Jamie Burch Elliott, public affairs manager at Planned Parenthood North Central States. WATCH: Did Elizabeth Warren Remove Her Bogus DNA Test Video Before Speaking to a Native American Forum?

Democrat Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren gave a speech to the Native American Presidential Forum in Sioux City, Iowa Monday morning. During her remarks, she said she’s “made mistakes,” but didn’t go into detail about how she used her “Cherokee heritage” to get ahead in her career and academia.

Adding insult to injury, it appears team Warren deleted the campaign webpage hosting the video that boasted about the results of the candidate’s DNA test. That test, which Warren was very proud of upon release earlier this year, showed she might be 1/1024th Native American.

Potential Mass Shootings Thwarted by Police Following up on Tips and Enforcing Existing Laws

Law enforcement personnel have thwarted multiple potential mass shooting incidents in recent days, and they didn’t need new gun control laws to do it.

Tristan Scott Wix was arrested in Florida on Friday after his ex-girlfriend notified local authorities about some text messages he sent, allegedly saying things like “A school is a weak target.. id be more likely to open fire on a large crowd of people from over 3 miles away.. I’d wanna break a world record for longest confirmed kill ever” and “I’m not crazy I just wanna die and I wanna have fun doing it, but I’m the most patient person in the world.” Wix told authorities that he didn’t own any firearms, but Volusia County, Florida, Sheriff Michael Chitwood told CNN that officers found a rifle and 400 rounds of ammunition in his apartment. He was charged with making written threats to commit a shooting.

Brandon Wagshol was arrested in Connecticut after the FBI followed up on a tip. During their investigation, authorities found a social media post that “showed his interest in committing a mass shooting.” He was arrested on multiple counts of violating state magazine capacity restrictions.

20-year-old James Patrick Reardon was arrested in Ohio after he allegedly made threats against a local Jewish community center on social media. Reardon posted a video of a man shooting a rifle with sirens and screams in the background and tagged the center. “That kicked off an intense investigation, a very rapidly evolving investigation because of the way the world is,” Police Chief Vince D’Egidio told WYTV-TV.

The FBI also arrested a 15-year-old girl in California last week after she allegedly sent out a message on SnapChat with a picture of a gun and the words “don’t come to school tomorrow.” The Bureau was first alerted by a warning from the social media company.

It’s important to note that these four people were caught not because of any gun control law, but because people paid attention and law enforcement followed up on tips, investigated, and acted on that information. New gun control laws weren’t needed in these cases. Diligence and good old-fashioned police work were.

There’s no evidence that new gun control proposals would have stopped either the Dayton or the El Paso shootings, and a lot of American adults agree with that assessment. Background checks can’t stop people who haven’t done anything criminal, and many of the mass murder suspects in recent years have been first-timers. Red flag laws are rife with opportunities to violate people’s rights to self-defense, rights to their own property, and due process of law. Besides, police didn’t need any “red flag” orders to address these cases; making threats is already a criminal offense.

There is no magical “set it and forget it” option to ensure public safety. Stay alert. Pay attention. Speak up when there’s cause for concern, and always have a plan to protect yourself and your family. Sanctuary City Lets Illegal Alien Alleged Rapist Go Free Despite Immigration Detainer

A suburban Maryland county with a notorious history as a sanctuary jurisdiction is facing criticism from federal authorities for releasing an illegal alien accused of rape despite an immigration detainer.

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer on Aug. 12 with the Montgomery County (Maryland) Detention Center on unlawfully present Salvadoran national Rodrigo Castro-Montejo following his arrest for rape and other related charges,” reads a statement from ICE’s Maryland office to Blaze Media. “On Aug. 13, the facility failed to honor the detainer, and released Castro from custody.”

According to local WJLA-TV, Montgomery County’s policy allows jail officials to contact ICE if the suspect has committed a “serious crime” and has had an ICE detainer filed previously. ICE says that local officials violated the policy in order to release the suspect.

The WJLA story details the factors that led to Castro-Montejo’s arrest. Castro-Montejo is a Salvadoran national residing in Florida. His accuser says that before he came to Maryland for a wedding last weekend, he had organized a meetup with her on social media. She claims the two went out drinking and dancing, she blacked out, then woke up to to him raping her.

Castro-Montejo was charged with second-degree rape and second-degree assault Saturday, August 10, and was later granted a $10,000 bail by a judge. He posted the 10 percent, $1,000 bond and walked out.

Two years ago, ICE accused Montgomery County of releasing another Salvadoran national without honoring a federal detainer despite the fact that the 18-year-old in question was arrested for taking a stolen AR-15 to school with him.

Just last week in Montgomery County, police arrested two illegal aliens from El Salvador, Mauricio Barrera-Navidad, 29, and Carlos Palacios-Amaya, 28, for raping an 11-year-old child. The investigation was reportedly triggered by a discussion the child had with a school social worker last month.

Montgomery County was also the setting for the infamous Rockville rape case, in which a 14-year-old girl was allegedly brutally raped by two illegal immigrants in a public school bathroom. One of the accused was from Guatemala, the other from El Salvador.

This news also follows on the heels of a report last week from North Carolina, where ICE says that Mecklenburg County — which contains the city of Charlotte — release another illegal alien accused of first-degree rape despite an ICE detainer.

Out west last week, ICE arrested a 59-year-old Mexican national who had been convicted of “sex assault on a child” but given no jail time. The agency claims that Boulder County, Colorado, ignored its detainer requests in this case, just as they did for the same person in 2017, when he was arrested for aggravated assault. Following Epstein’s Prison Death, Barr Appoints New Federal Prison Chief

Following the death of billionaire and accused child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein while in federal custody, Attorney General William Barr announced a shake-up of leadership at the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) on Monday.

According to a Justice Department press release, Barr has named Dr. Kathleen Hawk Sawyer as the acting director of the bureau. Dr. Hawk Sawyer was the first female director of the BOP and was appointed by Barr during his first stint as attorney general back in 1992. She remained at that position until 2003.

The press release also notes that the former-now-acting director received multiple awards during her previous tenure, including the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Management in 1992, two Presidential Rank Awards for Meritorious Service in 1994 and 2000, and the Presidential Distinguished Executive Award in 1997.

Barr also named Dr. Thomas R. Kane acting deputy director. He has previously served as BOP chief of staff, assistant director, deputy director, and acting director under four previous attorneys general, the release says.

“Under Dr. Hawk Sawyer’s previous tenure at the Bureau, she led the agency with excellence, innovation, and efficiency, receiving numerous awards for her outstanding leadership, ” said Attorney General Barr in a statement. “During this critical juncture, I am confident Dr. Hawk Sawyer and Dr. Kane will lead BOP with the competence, skill, and resourcefulness they have embodied throughout their government careers.”

Barr also thanked outgoing acting director Hugh Hurwitz “for his dedication and service to the Bureau over the last fifteen months.” The statement says that Hurwitz has been asked to return to his previous role in the BOP’s re-entry division, where one of his primary tasks will be overseeing the implementation of the First Step Act — 2018’s big criminal justice bill.

Epstein, a 66-year-old financier accused of child sex trafficking, was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell earlier this month. While the neither the press release nor Barr’s statement mention Epstein by name, the shake-up comes after Barr vowed to address how a high-priority inmate like Epstein could have died in federal custody.

Last week, Barr said that he was “appalled — indeed, the entire department was — and frankly angry, to learn of the [prison’s] failure to adequately secure this prisoner.” He also vowed that his team “will get to the bottom of what happened at the [prison] and we will hold people accountable for this failure.” The day after those remarks, Barr reassigned the warden of the prison where Epstein was held.

While Epstein’s death was recently ruled a suicide, there’s still a great deal of mystery surrounding the matter. There is no footage of what happened to the prisoner, law enforcement officials told the New York Post. Furthermore, a new report notes that Epstein’s cellmate was transferred to another part of the prison before Epstein’s death. And an autopsy performed last week found neck fractures that are more commonly found in homicides than suicides. The Magic Power of Enforcement? Texas Border Crossings Cut in Half

Something funny begins to happen when our government finally enforces some of our laws and sovereignty. According to weekly data from Texas’ Department of Public Safety used internally by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and obtained by CR, 9,407 illegal aliens were apprehended during the first week of August in Texas, a 54 percent decline since the highest weekly rate of May and June. Even more enforcement would likely result in an even sharper decline.

Where the numbers stand today

According to the data, which was given to CR by a Border Patrol agent who must remain anonymous because he is not authorized to speak to the press, the Texas numbers averaged around 18,000-20,000 per week in May and early June. Then when the president began beefing up the “remain in Mexico” policy, the weekly numbers declined to about 13,000-14,000 during late June and throughout July. Then, just from the final week in July to the first week in August, after the president announced the “safe third country” asylum deal with Guatemala, the numbers dropped 27 percent to under 10,000 for the first time since early in the year.

Although these numbers are only from Texas, the Lone Star State has absorbed about 70 percent of the border flow, and the June numbers from CBP show that apprehensions in Arizona and California have declined even more dramatically. The Rio Grande Valley is still, by far, the worst area of the border, but those numbers are also declining.

Three factors – the “remain in Mexico” policy (expanded to RGV sector July 19), denying asylum to anyone who could have declared asylum in Mexico (announced July 15), and the agreement with Guatemala to serve as a safe third country (announced July 26) – have collectively sent the message to migrants that the days of de facto open borders might be over. Before those elements were in place, the decline resulting from Mexico’s enforcement actions was not that significant.

The important lesson here is for the president to double down on what’s working and turn back everyone at the border rather than just relying on the hype of what he might do. As Rep. Chip Roy reported:

The key word is “hype.” When our open border was being hyped to the world since spring of 2018 and following several California judicial rulings, the world began to migrate to the border. Now the hype is reversing. This time, the president would be wise to learn from the past.

Putting the numbers in context

A flow of 9,400 per week for Texas is still high. That’s almost a half a million people per year just for Texas, well above the levels during most of Obama’s presidency. For example, in December 2016, the final full month of Obama’s presidency, the numbers were averaging under 30,000 per month in Texas. Today, even with an endless, brutal heat wave at the border and in Mexico, we are still averaging about 40,000 per month.

Trump promised to do better than Obama on illegal immigration and begin to reform even legal immigration and other bad policies, such as unqualified birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens. For the beginning months of his presidency, the hype that he would lock down the border had its effect on the perception of potential illegal immigrants. Just 11,000 people were apprehended at the entire border during April 2017, the low point of the “Trump hype” during the early part of his presidency.

However, as we all remember, the hype started to wear off after people realized that it was just that: only hype. Then, once the courts got involved and the administration refused to issue a shutoff at our border, the wave rose for nearly two years, cresting over this past spring and early summer. Thus, there is still a lot of work to do just to get back what the levels were when the entire MAGA movement began.

The good news is that, of all sources, the Ninth Circuit just handed the president a tremendous opportunity. For unknown reasons, this administration continues to decline a categorical 8 U.S.C. 1182(f) shutoff of all requests at the border. However, it recently declared that all asylum requests of anyone who could have declared asylum in Mexico will be denied. Well, that should apply to pretty much everyone at the border, except for Mexicans. While a California judge lawlessly issued a nationwide injunction on the policy late last week, the Ninth Circuit finally came to terms with the fact that it lacks jurisdiction over New Mexico (Tenth Circuit) and Texas (Fifth Circuit).

The DHS needs to take yes for an answer and begin turning back every single individual in those two states. It should not process anyone except those who are to be charged with crimes. That would take the hype to the next level of reality. In July, 82 percent of overall apprehensions and 90 percent of family unit apprehensions were in those states outside the Ninth Circuit’s jurisdiction, mainly in Texas.

Moreover, there are several other ideas left on the list from my “Deter, Defend, Demagnetize” plan for this administration to implement. The most important additional element is to designate the cartels as terrorists and more aggressively use the military to counter them. It’s been over a week since assailants shot over 50 rounds into our patrol boats in what should have been regarded as an act of war. Yet there is no response from our government.

It’s frustrating that it has taken this long for the administration to take these steps. The good news is that it’s better late than never, and the trajectory is headed in a better direction. The president selected two strong leaders in Mark Morgan (CBP) and Ken Cuccinelli (USCIS) to head two of the most important agencies charged with managing the border. It would be great if he could take this to the next step and replace Kevin McAleenan as head of the DHS.

As the summer turns into fall and the temperatures begin to drop and become more comfortable for mass migration, Trump must double down on sovereignty and turn up the heat if he hopes to keep his campaign promises alive. Here’s How Greenland Responded to President Trump Wanting U.S. to Buy

Greenland dismissed President Trump’s reported intentions of purchasing the world’s biggest island, saying it was “open for business, not for sale.”

A report in The Wall Street Journal claimed that Trump has expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, for the U.S.

White House sources told the Journal that Trump asked his advisers about acquiring the island during “meetings, dinners, and passing conversations” because of Greenland’s “abundant resources and geopolitical importance.” . . .

“We have a good cooperation with USA, and we see it as an expression of greater interest in investing in our country and the possibilities we offer,” the island’s government said on its website. “Of course, Greenland is not for sale.” . . .

“Greenland is rich in valuable resources such as minerals, the purest water and ice, fish stocks, seafood, renewable energy and is a new frontier for adventure tourism,” the ministry said in a tweet Friday. “We’re open for business, not for sale.”
