Border and Sanctuary Crises Continue as Congress Leaves Town

It’s a pretty big deal when local governments announce their version of secession from federal immigration enforcement. Yet not a single Senate Republican has made a peep about the issue, as both parties quickly passed a budget continuing resolution to fund government without addressing the crisis. If the entire conservative movement won’t stand up now to fight sanctuary cities and the border crisis in the budget, when and how will Trump’s immigration promises ever be fulfilled?

The Senate passed the stopgap spending bill just before leaving town on Thursday, locking in record high spending across the board and offering an extra half a billion for the census. The census will now receive a record $7.3 billion. That was the one emergency issue senators felt compelled to address in the budget before leaving town for Thanksgiving. But what is the purpose of taking a census if not only are illegal aliens being harbored by sanctuary cities, but they are counted in the census as if they are Americans? Sanctuaries harbor even the most dangerous murderers and child rapists while using the presence of these aliens in their districts to juice up their representation. That is the exact opposite of what our Founders had in mind for the census and the very impetus for giving the feds control over immigration policy.

Earlier this week, the Prince George’s County, Maryland, council voted unanimously to bar local officials from communicating with ICE. This is a direct challenge to the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, as 8 U.S.C. §1373 explicitly bars localities from restricting communication with ICE and §1324 bars them from shielding illegal aliens.

It’s truly difficult to overstate the danger of this rebellion to the safety and stability of our republic. Prince George’s County has now attracted scores of MS-13 gang members from Central America, and while they are being counted in our own census, they are committing murders. In May, two illegal aliens charged with a gruesome MS-13 murder were released by county police in defiance of federal law. They had previously been charged with murder exactly one year before and were also released in defiance of an ICE detainer.

PG County lies just northeast of the nation’s capital and is in full rebellion against the law. Yet there is no effort by congressional Republicans to defund it. The county has become a hub of MS-13 activity ever since the arrival of more Central American teens in 2014. In March, PG County officials arrested five MS-13 members for stabbing a gang rival 100 times and setting the body on fire. Three of them were resettled as UACs.

Last year, the Washington Post reported on an “overwhelmingly Hispanic school in Prince George’s County,” Maryland, where MS-13 would “sell drugs, draw gang graffiti and aggressively recruit students recently arrived from Central America, according to more than two dozen teachers, parents and students.” It was so bad that “most of those interviewed asked not to be identified for fear of losing their jobs or being targeted by MS-13.”

What good is a GOP Senate if it refuses to address local governments harboring transnational illegal alien gangs?

Then there is the border itself. While the numbers have finally gone down, the increased deterrent is all the result of finally turning back bogus asylum-seekers at the border. But now the same California courts that spawned the crisis in 2018 are trying to legislate open borders again. On Tuesday, a San Diego judge said the Trump administration must allow bogus asylees who could have claimed asylum in Mexico to be processed here if they came to the border prior to July 16, the day DHS announced the clampdown. The Supreme Court itself already blocked the injunction from the lower courts, but now the same courts are trying to impose their injunction on those selective “asylum-seekers” who conveniently ignored seeking asylum in Mexico, as long as they came before July 16.

How can the GOP-controlled Senate sit back and watch the lower courts engage in the same degree of civil disobedience against national sovereignty as sanctuary cities without adding a rider to strip their power over these cases? Unless the courts are checked or ignored, the border crisis will continue.

Then there is the issue of deportations. Unlike border security, which is all a policy problem, not so much a resource problem, interior enforcement absolutely needs more funding. Deportations are already down this year, yet detention space is completely full. There are over two million illegal aliens with final or “pending final” deportation orders. There are several million illegal aliens with criminal records. Yet, there are, at most, just 7,000 deportation officers and support staff. If we are going to solve this issue, we need a fight over ICE funding. A majority of Americans want stepped-up deportations across the board, and definitely for criminal aliens.

Conservatives have a choice to make: They can spend the next month focused solely on impeachment and allow Democrats to quietly get Trump to sign a budget bill before Christmas cosigning his first term to a weaker outcome on illegal immigration than Obama’s first term. Or, they could actually try putting some points on the board and improving Trump’s chances of overcoming impeachment by picking a fight on popular policies that have grave consequences for our civilization. Writer Declares: ‘I Got a Vasectomy Because of Climate Change’

Wes Siler is Outside magazine’s Indefinitely Wild columnist. He writes about “adventure-travel in the outdoors, the vehicles and gear that get us there, and the people we meet along the way.” . . .

As Siler notes in his recent piece for Outside magazine, he “got a vasectomy because of climate change.” . . .

However, by not having a child, Siler said he’d save the world from 58 tons of carbon emissions annually: “Any other action we could take, even all the actions we could ever possibly add up together, pale in comparison.”

More from Siler’s column:

That’s because there are simply too many humans on this planet. We’ve all been told that driving an electric car or putting solar panels on our roofs will help, but that involves buying more stuff, which has a terrible impact on the environment, no matter how green the image. Two people deciding to make fewer humans eliminates the entire cycle of consumption that would fuel that kid’s life.

Rudy Giuliani Accuses Biden of Threatening Senator, Compares Him to the Mafia

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani accused Joe Biden of threatening Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and compared him to the criminal mafia after Biden reacted to the opening of a probe into his Ukraine dealings.

Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, tweeted the accusation from his social media account on Friday after quoting the candidate’s comments that Graham would “regret his whole life.” . . .

“Now a threat to a US Senator. This is getting to be more and more like my old mafia cases,” he added. “They sure do sound like crooks.”

Biden responded on Friday to the probe of his and his son’s activities in Ukraine by saying he was “disappointed” and “angered.”

The Democratic frontrunner claimed that Graham was under the thumb of President Donald Trump and his allies because he knew that he would not be re-elected if he countered the president. (Read more from “Rudy Giuliani Accuses Biden of Threatening Senator, Compares Him to the Mafia” HERE)

GOP Congressman Accuses Schiff of Abusing His Power During Impeachment Hearings

By Washington Examiner. Rep. Mike Conaway accused House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff of abusing his power during one of the impeachment hearings held Thursday on Capitol Hill.

Conaway, a Texas Republican, became frustrated with Schiff after the California Democrat attempted to cut him off during questioning.

“Mr. Conaway, your time is expired,” Schiff told Conaway before telling the witness, David Holmes, “You were cut off when you were talking about Mr. Sondland’s indiscretion. Did you want to finish that answer?”

“Mr. Chairman, that’s patently unfair. As is this entire investigation,” Conaway shot back. Schiff said Conaway had repeatedly cut off witnesses before, a comment that elicited a furious response from the Texas Republican.

Report: FBI Official Under Criminal Investigation for Altering Document Used to Start Probe into Trump Campaign (VIDEO)

An FBI official is under criminal investigation for allegedly altering a document that was central to the FBI’s surveillance of a Trump campaign official in 2016, according to a new report from CNN.

“The finding is expected to be part of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s review of the FBI’s effort to obtain warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide,” CNN reported. “Horowitz turned over evidence on the allegedly altered document to John Durham, the federal prosecutor appointed early this year by Attorney General William Barr to conduct a broad investigation of intelligence gathered for the Russia probe by the CIA and other agencies, including the FBI. The altered document is also at least one focus of Durham’s criminal probe.”

Fox News’ Gregg Re reported last month that sources indicated that Horowitz’s upcoming report on alleged FBI surveillance misconduct against the Trump campaign in 2016 “will shed light on why Durham’s probe has become a criminal inquiry.”

Horowitz’s has been investigating whether the FBI misled the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) in seeking permission to surveil the Trump campaign while U.S. Attorney John Durham has been investigating the origins of the FBI’s Russia investigation. . .

“Horowitz’s investigators conducted more than 100 witness interviews in their review. During one of interviews this year, they confronted the witness about the document. The witness admitted to the change, ” CNN added. “The identity or rank of the FBI employee under investigation isn’t yet known, and it’s not clear whether the employee still works in the federal government. No charges that could reflect the situation have been filed publicly in court.”

Impeachment Backfire: Poll Shows Support for Impeachment Down, Approval of the President up

A new Emerson poll finds support for the impeachment has fallen by 5 percent since October. It appears that impeaching President Trump was only popular back when no one knew what the Democrats were so hysterical about. But now that Americans are beginning to see what a giant nothingburger the Democrats have cooked up, support for the president’s impeachment has started to fall.

Similarly, the more people learn about Trump’s handling of foreign aid to Ukraine, the more people approve of the president’s job performance. The same poll finds that Trump’s approval rating now stands at 48 percent, up 5 points since October.

Finally a president concerned about giving a corrupt regime billions of dollars in taxpayer money. Americans also have to be sickened by the testimonies of unelected, career diplomats who seem to think they’re in charge of dictating foreign policy and not the duly elected president.

At the beginning of the month, a poll of Americans found that 58 percent of respondents thought Hunter Biden’s role on the board of Burisma was the result of “bad judgement” and another 27 percent thought it was illegal. It’d be nice to get an update on that poll, or a poll on how many Americans support investigating the Biden’s apparent corruption in Ukraine.

Benjamin Netanyahu Indicted on Numerous Charges

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been indicted on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit announced Thursday, prolonging the country’s political uncertainty as it looks set to head into its third national election in a year.

Netanyahu, who has denied any wrongdoing and said he is the victim of a “witch hunt,” faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of bribery and a maximum 3-year term for fraud and breach of trust, according to legal experts.

“I give my life to this state, I fought for it, I was wounded for it. I have to say this is a very hard day,” Netanyahu said in a nationally televised address on Thursday night. “I think you need to be blind to see that something wrong is going on. This is a political coup.”

The prime minister insisted, without presenting evidence, that the indictment is a political vendetta.

“It’s very disturbing what is going on here and how the police conducted this investigation,” Netanyahu said. “This is a contaminated process, we need to investigate the investigators, they didn’t want the truth, they were after me personally.” (Read more from “Benjamin Netanyahu Indicted on Numerous Charges” HERE)

Lawyer Killed in Court When Shotgun Submitted to Evidence Goes off

Addelaid Ferreira-Watt, a prominent South African attorney, was killed after a shotgun that had been entered as evidence in a robbery trial was accidentally dropped and fired into her leg.

News24 reported that the gun was being held by a police officer in Umzimkhulu Regional Court when it slipped from his hands and hit the floor. The shotgun released a shell into Ferreira-Watt’s left hip. She was rushed to the hospital but doctors could not save her life. . .

The trial concerned the case of five men who were accused of robbing Cheryl and Dave Biggs at their Ixopo farm in 2014. The court alleges that the defendants Tased the victims, held them at gunpoint and beat them. A number of procedural issues had prevented the case from making it to trial until November 2019. . .

It is unknown why the weapon was not unloaded before it was taken into evidence, or why it was not inspected before being brought into the courtroom. Cheryl Biggs told the press that she did not remember if the weapon was loaded or not when she handed it over to police. U.S. Naval Academy Grants Satanists ‘Study Space’

The United States Naval Academy (USNA) has granted a room for midshipmen associated with the Satanic Temple to conduct “Satanic services” and to study “Satanic philosophy,” according to a leaked email.

USNA spokesperson Cmdr. Alana Garas subsequently claimed that this internal email – which all midshipmen received – was sent prematurely, and that the group of midshipmen were requesting only a “study group” space. Nonetheless, “services” are mentioned twice in the email. . .

“The notion that members of The Satanic Temple within the Naval Academy could be denied the right to hold services because we are nontheistic and/or politically active has absolutely no credible basis in law or common sense,” said Satanic Temple spokesman Lucien Greaves. “The Satanic Temple is no more a political cause than the Catholic Church or Southern Baptists.”

“Midshipmen have the right to assemble to discuss their beliefs as they choose, but, to be clear, in accordance with Department of Defense policy, military members will not engage in partisan political activities, and will avoid the inference that their activities may appear to imply [Defense Department] approval or endorsement of a political cause,” Garas told Fox News. . .

Although the Satanic Temple claims that its beliefs are based around seven tenets and a collection of natural virtues, a key focus of the group is using the mantle of “religious liberty” to advocate for abortion and other left-wing causes, even claiming abortion advocacy can be a form of worship. Navy Pauses Eddie Gallagher Review That Could Lead to Loss of SEAL Trident

The Navy has paused a review to determine whether to remove SEAL Eddie Gallagher’s Trident pin following his highly publicized war crimes case. President Trump demanded the halt on Thursday.

In an early-morning tweet, Trump wrote: “The Navy will NOT be taking away Warfighter and Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher’s Trident Pin. This case was handled very badly from the beginning. Get back to business!”

. . .A defense official told Fox News that following Trump’s tweet, “there is a pause in the proceedings while we await further guidance” on whether or not Gallagher will remain in Navy Special Warfare.

The head of Naval Special Warfare Command, Rear Adm. Collin Green, was scheduled to review the possibility of stripping Gallagher of the pin, upholding a part of his sentence that would reduce his rank. Gallagher was found guilty in July of posing with the body of a dead ISIS fighter in Iraq, though a directive signed by Trump last week that ordered the Navy to restore Gallagher’s rank to chief petty officer.

Rear Adm. Charlie Brown, a top Navy spokesman, told Fox News that the Navy would be halting the review. (Read more from “Navy Pauses Eddie Gallagher Review That Could Lead to Loss of SEAL Trident” HERE)
