WATCH: This Is Who Bernie Sander’s Tax Plan Hurts the Worst; Elizabeth Warren’s Tax Plan Is Horrible

By Townhall. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has been one of the strongest supporters and advocates of Medicare for All. After all, he wrote the original bill for the system. While some of the other 2020 Democrats have said they wouldn’t raise taxes on average families, Sanders has been upfront and honest that taxes would need to be raised in order to pay for this new system. But he has argued those tax increases would actually cost Americans less in the long run. . .

“What we will do — what we will do is have a four percent tax on income exempting the first $29,000,” he told a cheering crowd. “All right, good. You — you’re better at arithmetic than I am. Because what that means is if you are that average family in the middle who makes $60,000 a year, that means we’re going to tax you on $31,000 at four percent.” . . .

Is the $29,000 exemption for couples then? What is the exemption, if any, for singles? Is it safe to assume that exemption would be $14,500 (half of what he proposed for families)?

Bernie has said this would be a tax increase, so everyone would pay four percent on everything they make over the threshold he established, although that isn’t even very clear. Even with that exemption, that raises taxes on the poor and middle class, the very people Sanders has said he aims to protect.

Not only that but this proposal runs counter intuitive to his $15/hour minimum wage proposal. If he wanted everyone to make, at a minimum, $15/hour or $31,200 a year, even the so-called “working poor” would have their taxes increased.

Why Elizabeth Warren’s wealth tax is a lousy idea

By Market Watch. . .Democrats want to raise income taxes on the affluent and corporations, and Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are pushing wealth taxes to pay for student-debt relief, free college tuition, infrastructure projects, and similar initiatives to lessen inequality.

Warren’s ultra-millionaires tax would impose a 2% levy on individual fortunes over $50 million and 3% on those over $1 billion to raise, she says, about $2.75 trillion over 10 years. In her Medicare for All plan, she even floated a 6% levy for billionaires. . .

Working-class men sidelined by the Great Recession, now attracted by higher wages, are re-entering the labor force. The real inequality problem appears concentrated in the middle class — too many college degrees have not added value as specialized professionals and technicians are more in demand than generalists.

About three-quarters of household wealth may be in liquid assets like stocks and bonds but their value fluctuates. If equities were up 20% in 2021, and the IRS took $1 million from a taxpayer owning $50 billion, would it give back the money if the market fell 20% the next year? Likely not.

Larry Summers — hardly an advocate for conservative causes — notes history indicates every 1 percentage point increase in income-tax rates produces a 0.6 percentage point decrease in taxable income. That implies Warren’s ultra millionaires tax would harvest only $1 trillion—broadly in line with the analyses of other liberal and conservative economists. ‘SNL’ Mocks Joe Biden in Debate Recap: “I’m Always One Second Away from Calling Cory Booker ‘Barack'”

With an all-star cast, this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” reenacted some of the more cringeworthy moments of last week’s Democratic presidential debate in Atlanta.

“America, I see you. And I see the faces you make when I talk – you’re scared,” Woody Harrelson, flashing a mouth full of pearly whites as Joe Biden, said. “Scared I’ll say something off-color, or even worse, on color.”

“What I want you to know is you should be scared,” he continued.” Because I’m always one second away from calling Cory Booker ‘Barack.’” . . .

“I’m a little overwhelmed because I thought 10 people were coming and now there’s 30 million,” [Kate McKinnon’s Elizabeth Warren] quipped. “But I promise dinner will be ready if you just get out of the kitchen and stop asking questions,” she said, mocking Warren’s dodging how she plans to pay for her $52 trillion Medicare-for-All plan. . .

“And, of course, this Thanksgiving, I’ll be cooking … the food of my ancestors. Should I say it? I’m going to say it. Maize.” (Read more from “‘SNL’ Mocks Joe Biden in Debate Recap: “I’m Always One Second Away from Calling Cory Booker ‘Barack'” HERE)

Giuliani Claims to Have Decades of Evidence Relating to ‘Biden Family’ Corruption; Biden Says Trump Is Stoking ‘Same Anti-Semitic Bile’ as Nazis

By Daily Wire. On Saturday afternoon, former Mayor of New York City and President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani sent out a tweet seemingly meant to clarify his recent “insurance” remarks.

. . .On Saturday, Giuliani appeared on Fox News with anchor Ed Henry. During the segment, which largely focused on the ongoing impeachment inquiry, Henry asked Giuliani the following questions about his relationship with the president: “Have you talked to President Trump in the last week or two? Have you met with him? Are you still his counsel?”

[Giuliani noted] that he and the president “have a very, very good relationship,” . . .

During a recent telephone interview with The Guardian, Giuliani was asked if he was worried that President Trump might attempt to “throw him under a bus,” to which he replied: “I’m not, but I do have very, very good insurance. So if he does, all my hospital bills will be paid.”

Giuliani’s own attorney, who was on the call with his client, made sure to note that the insurance line was simply a joke. (Read more from “Giuliani Claims to Have Decades of Evidence Relating to ‘Biden Family’ Corruption” HERE)

‘I’m a Student of the Holocaust’: Biden Says Trump Is Stoking ‘Same Anti-Semitic Bile’ as Nazis

By Washington Examiner. 2020 Democratic front-runner Joe Biden claimed President Trump is creating similar conditions in the United States to those that existed in Nazi Germany leading up to the Holocaust.

“This is a guy who made a straight appeal for white supremacy. You saw those folks coming out of the fields out there in Charlottesville and everything since then, their veins bulging, the hate-spewing from them,” the former vice president said Sunday evening at a fundraiser in Providence, Rhode Island, according to a pool report by Donita Naylor of the Providence Journal.

“I’m a student of the Holocaust. Same anti-Semitic bile that was chanted in the streets in Germany in the 1930s,” he continued. “Same thing. Carrying Nazi flags and accompanied by the Ku Klux Klan.”

Biden has long claimed that a principle reason he decided to run for the White House a third time was because of the white supremacist protest dubbed the “United the Right” in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017 that left one counter-protester dead and scores of others injured. Statistics Reveal Horrifying Numbers of Down Syndrome Babies Killed Through Abortion

While countries like Iceland have grossly celebrated the eradication of individuals with Down syndrome from their society (eugenics as its worst) – we are teaming up to send a new message to our country’s leaders, employers, educators, healthcare providers, future parents and most importantly, individuals with Down syndrome – life for people with Down syndrome matters.

Our life’s passion and work, in different corners of our great country, brought us together with this common moral – “pro-life for all of life.” For the two of us, a future that doesn’t include people with Down syndrome is very personal (Chloe is a self-advocate from Pennsylvania who is one of the fiercest advocates on the planet and Weir is the former President & C.E.O. of the National Down Syndrome Society and a candidate for U.S. Congress).

Today, we are calling on all Members of Congress, regardless of party, to put your differences aside and help us ensure that our society embraces diversity, embraces differing abilities and, most importantly, stands for life, from the very beginning to natural death, by supporting a new bill, the Down Syndrome Discrimination by Abortion Prohibition Act, which places a federal ban on the performance of an abortion because an unborn child has been diagnosed with Down syndrome.

There continues to be a widespread increase in the Down syndrome prenatal screening tests in the United States (and across the world) which is leading to a decrease in the number of babies with Down syndrome. And while these screening tests (called noninvasive prenatal screening tests (NIPT)) are intended to only screen for Down syndrome (not diagnose), the pressure to not seek further testing, and terminate a pregnancy is real. For instance, the most recent stats available to the public estimate that 67% of babies with Down syndrome are terminated in the Unites States, 77% in France, 98% in Denmark and 100% in Iceland. ‘Nervous’ Leakers: Early Peak into DOJ Watchdog’s FISA Report Emboldens Trump Allies

The leaks came quickly after Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz announced his long-awaited report on alleged government surveillance abuses against a member of the Trump campaign would be released in a matter of weeks.

Contrary to the allegations often trumpeted by President Trump and his allies, reports from outlets such as the Washington Post and New York Times said the watchdog is expected to find political bias did not taint the Russia investigation, absolving top officials such as former FBI Director James Comey, Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and special agent Peter Strzok on this matter.

Yes, missteps and lapses in judgment were made, but the most damning revelation pertains to an FBI lawyer, identified as Kevin Clinesmith, allegedly altering a document related to the wiretapping of onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. A far cry from the “premeditated fraud” conspiracy pushed on a near-nightly basis by Fox News host Sean Hannity, Horowitz’s investigators determined Clinesmith’s actions did not taint the overall validity of a renewal application. Additionally, Horowitz determined the opening of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign in July 2016 was justified.

None of this amounts to what Trump’s closest allies have hyped up for months: A concerted effort to monitor and undermine his 2016 campaign, particularly with how the FBI relied on an unverified dossier compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele to obtain the warrants to wiretap Page.

Democrats, fully engaged in an impeachment effort against Trump, have expressed little appetite to talk Horowitz’s report and counter Republican allegations of an effort to overthrow the president. “It looks like the evidence is going to show otherwise. It’s time for us to move on,” Rep. Eric Swalwell, a Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, said on Fox News Sunday. Agents Rescue Migrant from Drowning in Border River

Laredo Sector Border Patrol riverine agents rescued a migrant from possibly drowning in a creek near the Rio Grande. The migrant struggled to stay afloat after illegally entering the river to cross into the U.S.

A Laredo Sector Border Patrol patrolling the Chacon Creek area near the Rio Grande encountered a migrant who had difficulty staying afloat on the morning of November 20. The agent quickly called for assistance from a nearby marine unit boat crew, according to information obtained from Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials.

Laredo Sector Marine agents quickly responded and found the migrant having difficulty keeping his head above the swiftly moving current. The agents maneuvered their boat into position and pulled the man on board to keep him from drowning, officials stated.

Agents identified the migrant as a Mexican national. They said the man said he was attempting to return to Mexico when he had difficulty navigating the currents. Agents checked the man for medical distress and turned him over to land-based agents for processing. Officials said the Mexican national will be processed under U.S. Customs and Border Protection guidelines.

Later that day, agents assigned to the Highway 83 immigration checkpoint observed a blue tractor-trailer approaching for inspection. Agents questioned the driver and subsequently referred him to a secondary inspection station. As the driver moved forward, he failed to stop and drove approximately 100 yards beyond the checkpoint before stopping, officials reported. He jumped out of the tractor and fled on foot. Hong Kong Democracy Camp Heads for Stunning Win at Polls

Hong Kong’s pro-democracy camp was headed for a thumping victory in district council elections, local media reported on Monday, a vote widely seen as a referendum on the Beijing-backed government’s handling of months of violent political unrest.

Counting was still under way following record turnout in Sunday’s ballot, but early tallies suggested that candidates favouring calls for greater democracy were set to grab far more of the 452 seats contested than originally expected, media reports said.

The selection of councillors — handling community-level concerns such as bus routes and garbage collection — traditionally generates little excitement, but pro-democracy forces hope a victory would raise pressure on the government to heed demands for change.

Hong Kong has endured months of mass rallies and violent clashes pitting police against protesters agitating for direct popular elections and a probe into alleged security force brutality against demonstrators, among other demands. . .

Hong Kong’s election watchdog said about 71 percent of the 4.13 million citizens registered to vote had cast their ballots, far higher than the 47 percent who voted in the previous go-round in 2015, which was a record at the time. WATCH: Adam Schiff Just Gave a Very Misleading Answer on ‘Public Support’ for Impeachment

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) went on CNN’s “State of the Union” this morning to defend Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

Anchor Jake Tapper pressed Schiff on whether there is sufficient public support for impeaching the president to justify moving forward with the case. “I don’t know if the American people, especially in the battleground states [back impeachment]” said the CNN host.

To this, Schiff responded that “the public support for impeachment has grown fairly dramatically over the past two months.”

. . .Schiff is basing his answer on technicalities that may be factually accurate (yes, more Americans favor impeaching Trump now than they did a couple of months ago), but he is grossly exaggerating current public support for impeachment.

Tapper is correct and Schiff is wrong. After two weeks of public testimonies, and two months of 96% negative media coverage of the administration, Americans are increasingly at odds with him and House Democrats on whether Trump should be impeached. Zero NFL Teams Want Kaepernick After Controversial Workout

One week after Colin Kaepernick worked out for seven NFL teams at high school outside Atlanta, the former starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers has been contacted by zero teams, league sources told ESPN.

Not only has Kaepernick’s highly publicized workout not resulted in any job leads from the seven teams that attended the workout, but his representatives sent film from the workout to the 25 other teams that did not attend; that, too, has not generated interest. . .

After his workout, Kaepernick called out the NFL and claimed the league has “denied” him a job.

“I’ve been ready for three years, I’ve been denied for three years,” he said. “We all know why I came out here. [I] showed it today in front of everybody. We have nothing to hide. So we’re waiting for the 32 owners, 32 teams, Roger Goodell, all of them to stop running. Stop running from the truth. Stop running from the people.”

The workout became controversial after Kaepernick and NFL representatives were unable to agree on terms of a liability waiver and Kaepernick’s media availability. Because of the disagreement, Kaepernick canceled the workout, which the NFL originally organized, and instead held his own, severely limiting his exposure to potential suitors. Leftists Realizing Impeachment May Be Bad for Democrats

Democrats were on cloud nine when the closed-door impeachment inquiry began. Back then, Rep. Adam Schiff was lying to the American people about what the president said on his July 25 phone call to the president of Ukraine. House Democrats selectively called witnesses, selectively leaked testimony, and continued to fool independent voters into thinking the Democrats were actually hysterical for a good reason.

The Soviet show trial really wasn’t a good look for the Democrats, so the House voted on a bill that gave the process the false appearance of fairness while keeping the Democrats in full control of the narrative and substance of the impeachment inquiry. Two Democrats joined every Republican in voting against the bill, but Speaker Pelosi managed to ram it through. . .

Worse for Democrats, it’s largely the highly-prized independent voters who are souring on impeachment. Vanity Fair’s recent headline, “‘It Is Hard To Read This As Anything But A Warning’: New Polling Suggests Democrats’ Impeachment Push Could Alienate Key Voters,” encapsulates the predicament Democrats now find themselves.

(Via Vanity Fair)

“Alas, for the Democrats, the promising numbers of late October and early November rapidly dissipated, and polling numbers have reverted to a level more consistent with long-term opinions on President Trump. In the latest Politico/Morning Consult poll, released on November 19, Independents opposed impeachment and removal from office 46% to 39%, a number close to the rolling averages of the last few weeks. It is notable that the poll was fielded after the first public impeachment hearings. Even the compelling testimony of witnesses like Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, failed to move the needle on public opinion. That doesn’t mean further hearings won’t energize greater opposition to Trump, but it’s a little hard to imagine more effective testimony than that offered by Yovanovitch and some of her Foreign Service colleagues.”
