Top Republican Demands Top Democrat Testify in Impeachment Inquiry

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, demanded in a letter late on Friday night that Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) testify in a closed-door deposition about any interactions that either he or his staff may have had with the whistleblower.

“On November 6th, you announced the beginning of public hearings associated with the Democratic Party’s partisan impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump,” Nunes wrote to Schiff. “Based on the precedent and lack of jurisdiction, the House Intelligence Committee should not take the lead in conducting such hearings; however, by now the American people know your desire to see the duly-elected president removed from office outweighs your sense of responsibility to running a functioning intelligence oversight committee.”

“Prior to the start of your public show trial next week, at least one additional closed-door deposition must take place,” Nunes stated. “Specifically, I request that you sit for a closed-door deposition before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, and Oversight Committees.”

“As the American public is now aware, in August 2019, you and/or your staff met with or talked to the whistleblower who raised an issue with President Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian president Zelensky,” Nunes continued. “Although you publicly claim nothing inappropriate was discussed, the three committees deserve to hear directly from you the substance and circumstances surrounding any discussions conducted with the whistleblower, and any commitment to let the committee’s interview the whistleblower directly, you are the only individual who can provide clarity as to these conversations.”

“As you know, the House Intelligence Committee has precedent for such an arrangement. During the committees investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, sitting members of Congress agreed to participate in closed-door depositions,” Nunes continued. “Given your championing of such an agreement two years ago, you should have no problem with you appearing before the three committees to discuss your interactions with the whistleblower.” (Read more from “Top Republican Demands Top Democrat Testify in Impeachment Inquiry” HERE)

BREAKS SILENCE: ABC News Insider Who Exposed Buried Epstein Story Speaks Out

On Friday, the ABC News insider who obtained the tape of ABC anchor Amy Robach’s distress over the spiking of her Jeffrey Epstein story by ABC News came forward after CBS reportedly fired the staffer who had access to the tape. The insider, who remains anonymous, wrote paragraphs addressed to “my fellow man,” “my fellow ABC News employees,” “those wrongfully accused,” “Amy Robach,” and “ABC News.”

At the request of the insider, the open letter was published by Project Veritas, which had obtained the footage of Robach from the insider. The insider asserted that there were no motives other than to make the information public; that neither the insider nor those wrongfully accused had done anything wrong; that Robach was the only person due an apology, not from the insider, but from those who spiked her story; and that ABC News “has spun into a mission of seek-and-destroy.” . . .

On Thursday, journalist Yashar Ali reported that CBS News had fired the staffer who allegedly leaked the footage of Robach expressing her frustrations about her Jeffrey Epstein story not getting published. The firing reportedly came after ABC informed CBS they had determined who had leaked the footage. (Read more from “BREAKS SILENCE: ABC News Insider Who Exposed Buried Epstein Story Speaks Out” HERE)

TRIGGER WARNING: Presidential Net Worth Comparison — Before and After Leaving Office

Joe Miller offers a critique:

Respectfully, it’s likely to be the opposite. The way it’s headed, expect Trump to be bankrupt and/or in jail just a short time after leaving office. That is, unless there’s a clandestine effort to take the Oligarchs down. Let’s hope it’s the latter, or this country is toast.

To which I responded:

I agree completely. This is just meant to trigger the kooks.

WATCH: Trump Jr. Hilariously Triggers ‘The View’

By Breitbart. Donald Trump Jr. reminded the co-hosts of The View on Thursday of some of their regrettable actions of the past, including Whoopi Goldberg’s defense of convicted child rapist Roman Polanski.

Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle’s Thursday appearance on The View was met with contention, with Goldberg finding herself utterly unwilling to say the name “Trump” while introducing the pair:

At one point during the conversation, Trump reminded two of the hosts – Joy Behar and Goldberg – of some of the regrettable actions of their past in defense of his father.

“We’ve all done things we regret. If we’re talking about bringing discourse down – Joy, you’ve worn blackface,” Trump said, triggering Behar. . .

While the conversation primarily delved into a defense of Behar’s use of blackface – with Goldberg coming to her defense and proclaiming that her co-host was “not in blackface” – Trump’s reminder to Goldberg prompted flashbacks to her disturbing defense of Polanski.

‘The View’ Hosts Blatantly Lie, Falsely Accuse Don Jr. of Crime in Wild Segment

By Daily Caller. Several segments of ABC’s “The View” went off the rails as several hosts leveled lies and false accusations at guest Donald Trump Jr.

Trump Jr., who was promoting his new book “Triggered,” made Thursday’s appearance alongside girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle. Over the course of several heated segments, he endured blatant falsehoods from Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar and at least one false accusation from Sunny Hostin.

But video from November 9, 2016 — just hours after the last votes came in and election results went public — it was Goldberg herself who floated impeachment as a possible recourse. “We can kick his ass out. You know, there is such a thing called impeachment,” she said. . .

Additionally, the law Hostin cited had nothing to do with whistleblower protections, but rather addressed “Obstruction of proceedings before departments, agencies, and committees.” The Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 is actually covered under 5 U.S. Code 2302 and the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act of 1998. Report: House Democrats Consider Drafting Three Articles of Impeachment Against Trump

House Democrats have reportedly weighed drafting three articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, sparked by a so-called “whistleblower’s” mischaracterization of the president’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine.

According to ABC News, Democrats are evaluating articles charging President Trump with abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and contempt of Congress.

Impeachment investigators believe the president could be charged with abuse of power for floating to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into allegations of corruption against former Vice President and 2020 White House contender Joe Biden, along with his beleaguered son, Hunter Biden. Further, lawmakers believe the president may have obstructed justice and be in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas for documents and witness testimony.

“They have also weighed an obstruction of justice charge centered on the president’s efforts to obstruct former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation,” ABC News reports. . .

Investigators are wrapping up the private interviews as they prepare to start public hearings next week. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) announced Wednesday that three State Department witnesses will appear in two hearings next Wednesday and Friday: top Ukraine diplomat William Taylor, career department official George Kent, and Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. WATCH: High School Football Player Asks to Pray with Opponent Whose Mom Has Cancer

A high school football player forgot about his team’s rivalry when he went over and asked if he could pray with his opponent whose mom has cancer.

It all went down in Texas when Sherman High School student Gage Smith walked over to West Mesquite High School player Ty Jordan at the end of the game last Friday night and asked if the two could pray together for Jordan’s mom, Tiffany Jordan, per the “Today” Show in a piece published Wednesday.

Ty’s mom, age 42, has stage 4 lung and bone cancer.

“It was meant for just me and him to have a moment and to pray over his family and for his mom,” Smith shared. “I just wanted to let him know there are other people thinking about him and his family, and let him know he has somebody to turn to.”

“I would’ve done that whether we would’ve won or lost,” he added, after his team beat Ty’s team 56-27. “During the game we’re enemies and we’re gonna play and try to win the game, but you still have that respect for the other opponent. I wanted to do that for him.” (Read more from “Watch: High School Football Player Asks to Pray with Opponent Whose Mom Has Cancer” HERE)

7-Year-Old Whose Mother Tried to Force a Gender Transition CHOOSES to Attend School as a Boy

James Younger, the 7-year-old at the heart of the Texas transgender custody battle that incited a national debate, has decided to attend school as a boy under his given name. . .

The boy’s father, Jeffrey Younger, insists his ex-wife, Dr. Anne Georgulas, has been pressuring their son James to undergo a gender transition since the child was 3 years old. . .

Georgulas has asked for Judge Cooks to be recused from the case and maintains that James insisted upon the transition.

After Younger was first denied custody rights and the case began to spark public outcry, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered an investigation into the matter.

In addition to granting joint managing conservatorship, Judge Cooks also placed a gag order on Younger and Georgulas until both of their children reach age 18. (Read more from “7-Year-Old Whose Mother Tried to Force a Gender Transition Chooses to Attend School as a Boy” HERE)

Governor Confirms: Virginia ‘Working on’ Gun Confiscation Now That Democrats Are in Control

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) of blackface fame boasted this week that his party is ready to implement an array of gun control measures in the commonwealth now that Democrats control all three branches of government, and his administration is already “working on” a plan for confiscating so-called “assault weapons” from law-abiding gun owners. . .

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Northam wants to bring back eight “common-sense” gun control measures that Republicans shot down during a special session in July, prioritizing “universal background checks, banning the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, restoring the law that limits purchases to one gun a month, and a red flag law that would empower a court to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others.”

When asked directly about whether he is supportive of confiscating “assault weapons from gun owners” Northam replied, “That’s something I’m working [on] with our secretary of public safety. I’ll work with the gun violence activists, and we’ll work [on] that. I don’t have a definitely plan today.”

On Tuesday, Virginia voters handed Democrats total control of the commonwealth’s General Assembly — flipping both the Senate and the House of Delegates from red to blue majorities. The Democratic Party now controls not only Virginia’s legislature, but holds the governorship, lieutenant governorship, attorney general, and both U.S. Senate seats. 5 Actions Trump Can Take NOW to Reclaim Our Border from the Mexican Cartels

Try to think of any other foreign entity – a country, terrorist group, or criminal group – that devastates our country as much as the Mexican cartels. They control our border – both sides of it – and have operatives in every state fueling the entire drug crisis, gangs, crime, and an endless flow of illegal immigrants who cause a massive fiscal drain and cultural transformation of our communities. Why have we gone to war with everyone but them? Will that change in light of the murder of Americans by the cartels?

It’s good that there is finally some media and policy focus on the Mexican cartels. Sadly, it came at the cost of an American family living in a Mormon community in Mexico. Three mothers of the LeBaron family were driving in three separate SUVs in two locations eight miles from each other in the Sonora province, just 50 miles from the international border with New Mexico, on Monday. Cartel gunmen opened fire on the three vehicles and then torched them, killing and burning the three mothers, as well as six children, including twin babies. Six other children were wounded, and there are reports some of them were initially kidnapped but managed to escape.

The president called for action against the cartels and implied he’d be willing to help Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) militarily against the cartels, a gesture that was rebuffed by the leftist president of Mexico. However, Trump can focus the fight on the cartels closer to home – at the border itself and in the interior of our country, where the cartels and their contractors are operating with impunity.

Here’s the reality of the cartels at the border that nobody realizes: They have created an entire business model on the premise that our government will not treat them as a hostile enemy. Were that to change, as powerful as the cartels seem today, they’d be crushed quite easily. Thus, Trump’s strategy should not hinge upon cooperation of AMLO and the Mexican military. We must seize control of our own destiny and at least protect our own country from the cartels.

To that end, here are five ideas the Trump administration should pursue:

1) Reorient the mission of Border Patrol and the military: The 9/11 commission staff reporton terrorism and travel warned that “no agency of the U.S. government thought of border security as a tool in the counterterrorism arsenal” and that even in 2004, it was “not considered a cornerstone of national security policy.” Sadly, that is still true today. Whether it’s the potential threat of Islamic terror, cartel terrorism that plagues our cities with drugs, gangs, and violence, or the espionage threat from the increasing presence of Chinese migrants, our State Department, Defense Department, and Department of Homeland Security still do not view our border as relative to our national security. That must change.

At present, CBP treats the border like a domestic law enforcement issue. This is why cartels can cross our border with impunity. As I’ve reported before, Border Patrol agents will not grab armed smugglers who have crossed our border and are an inch across the border in a belligerent posture as agents appear on the scene. They do not retaliate when shot at with automatic fire. The military is even worse. It is hamstrung from doing anything, and the cartels, knowing this fact, cross right in front of our troops.

The time has come for the military to be used at our border the way we use it to defend other borders. Our Founders envisioned a military for our own border, not for Afghanistan. Not enforcing immigration law or dealing with detainees, but holding the line right at the perimeter and striking hostile actions, whether through smuggling, drone espionage, or armed conflict. There is no reason the cartels should be operating scouts in Arizona’s mountains as deep as 70 miles into our territory. If we can’t secure our own soil, we are on our way to becoming like Mexico.

2) Shut off all immigration requests between ports of entry: We can’t have a global babysitting service operating in the middle of a war zone, especially when the cartels monetize that service for their operation. While the Trump administration is moving in this direction, there are still many people seeking status at the border. Trump must announce that until the cartels are neutralized, he is using his power under 212(f) of the INA to suspend all forms of immigration requests outside ports of entry. This will clear the field to fully counter the cartels, while also stripping them of their strategic distractions, source of revenue and drug smuggling, and ability to bring in a steady flow of contract gang members under the guise of “asylum” and “unaccompanied alien children” programs.

3) Designate the cartels as terrorists: The cartels need to be treated like al Qaeda with regard to apprehension within America, travel restrictions, prosecutions, and intelligence. Anything associated with them must be treated as an enemy. Part of why the war on drugs failed is because a war on an object doesn’t work. It’s not the drugs that are the problem, it’s the people. We need to stop this ambivalent treatment of the cartels. Trump can enact this tomorrow.

4) Declare war on sanctuary cities: It’s one thing to get drugs into the country one time; it’s quite another to operate a lucrative network in perpetuity without detection. Organized crime like drug trafficking and illegal immigration, which are interdependent, cannot succeed without political protection. There is clearly political protection at many levels, but one of the biggest is sanctuary cities. The Senate has not voted on a single sanctuary bill this year, and Democrats don’t feel the heat, even though 71 percent of liberal Tucson voters rejected sanctuary policies.

The real issue with the cartels is their ability to get their drugs and aliens reliably into the United States, then to market and realize a huge return in profit for their products. If they can’t get it to market, they can’t sell it, and they make no money. Sure, it is their reliable infrastructure that gets it across the border, which can be deterred by a military mindset at the border. But it is the people embedded inside the U.S. they trust to get it to market (and the money back), and it is shutting down that infrastructure that will stop this quicker and cleaner than anything else. Forget the war on the drugs, declare war on their infrastructure and keep the drugs from getting to market. There will always be drugs and addiction, but there is no reason they should be this ubiquitous and cheap if we actually enforced our laws.

5) Document cartel crimes and incidents: The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report is woefully outdated. It doesn’t capture the reality of 21st-century crimes, as cartel expert Jaeson Jones warned on my podcast last month. Jones helped command operations against the cartels as a captain in the Texas Department of Public Safety. He observed, “Our experience in Texas showed that you need data to drive the politicians to act. The outdated crime reporting needs to be updated to quantify cartel-related crimes. You’d be shocked at how many crimes that are reported as some domestic act are really external problems driven by the cartels.”

Indeed, El Mencho, the head of the Cartel Jalisco New Generacion (CJNG), is the most wanted man in the city of Chicago. According to the DEA’s 2018 threat assessment, the gangs contracting with Sinaloa and CJNG “are also responsible for a substantial portion of the city’s violent crime.” If our data actually quantified how much of the violence is driven by the cartels, it would dictate a change in policies.

The Trump administration can begin the fight against the cartels from our own turf. We have nobody to call on to bail out our own homeland. We are our only defenders. (For more from the author of “5 Actions Trump Can Take Now to Reclaim Our Border from the Mexican Cartels” please click HERE)

Senate Republicans Begin to Dig into Biden’s Sketchy Ukraine Dealings

Republican Senators Chuck Grassley, Iowa, and Ron Johnson, Wisc., want some answers on how much, if any, influence Hunter Biden’s job at a Ukrainian energy company had on decisions made by the State Department under President Barack Obama.

In a letter dated Wednesday, the two senators asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for a wide range of records to “better understand what actions, if any, the Obama administration took to ensure that policy decisions relating to Ukraine and Burisma were not improperly influenced by the employment and financial interests of family members.”

“In April 2014, Vice President Biden reportedly became the ‘public face of the administration’s handling of Ukraine,’” the lawmakers write. “Around the same time, the Vice President’s son, Hunter Biden, and his business associate, Devon Archer, both began serving on the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company.”

Hunter Biden’s former employment at Burisma is at the center of the current impeachment debate raging in Washington, D.C. At a 2018 Council on Foreign Relations event, Biden said that he — while still vice president — pressured then-Ukranain President Petro Poroshenko to fire then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin while Shokin was leading an investigation into the company by threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees. House Democrats’ impeachment probe has examined whether or not president Trump pressured Ukrainian authorities to look into the Burisma investigation with military aid.

In their Wednesday letter, Grassley and Johnson refer to a recent story from reporter John Solomon saying that, during the 2016 election cycle, a U.S. representative for Burisma — Karen Tramontano — tried to set up a meeting with Undersecretary of State Catherine A. Novelli to discuss ending the corruption allegations against the company.

“Although it is not clear if Under Secretary Novelli met with Karen Tramontano on March 1, 2016, as planned, later that month Tramontano and other members of Burisma’s legal team reportedly met with Ukrainian prosecutors,” the letter notes, referring to another report from Solomon from September. “According to what appears to be contemporaneous notes by one of those Ukrainian prosecutors, during that meeting, Burisma’s legal team apologized about what they alleged to be ‘false information’ promoted by the U.S. Government about the prosecutors’ handling of the investigation of Burisma.”

The two also note other documents that “show other meetings that Burisma board members Hunter Biden and Devon Archer scheduled with high-ranking State Department officials” in 2015. The letter also points out that “just one day after Tramontano was scheduled to meet with Under Secretary Novelli about Burisma, Devon Archer was scheduled to meet with Secretary of State John Kerry.”

The lawmakers then ask the department to provide “all State Department records relating to Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, [their business partner] Christopher Heinz, and Karen Tramontano” as well as “all State Department records relating to Burisma Holdings” and those related to some of Biden’s other business ventures. They also ask whether or not the State Department has asked the Office of the Legal Adviser or the Office of the Inspector General to “review potential concerns and conflicts of interest related to Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma while Vice President Biden reportedly acted as the United States’ top official in Ukraine? If not, why not?”

Johnson is the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Grassley chairs the Senate Finance Committee. The senators asked that the department provide the information in two weeks, giving a deadline of November 20.
