Numerous Trump Staffers Resign After D.C. Protests

White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews resigned Wednesday, becoming the third White House staffer to leave their position wake of protests and rioting on Capitol Hill. . .

Earlier Wednesday, two of Melania Trump’s staffers announced their resignations.

White House social secretary Rickie Niceta submitted her resignation in reaction to the protest, said a source with direct knowledge.

Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump’s chief of staff, and the former White House press secretary, also resigned amid the protests. She took the job in April. (Read more from “Numerous Trump Staffers Resign After D.C. Protests” HERE)

President Trump Tells Supporters To Go Home ‘in Peace’

President Donald Trump on Wednesday told his supporters who were demonstrating in Washington, DC, to “go home with love and in peace,” though he simultaneously argued that protesters breaking into the U.S. Capitol was a consequence of the presidential election allegedly being stolen.

“These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously and viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly and unfairly treated for so long,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The president commented shortly after authorities confirmed that a woman who was shot at the Capitol on Wednesday had died. Details surrounding the shooting remain unclear. (Read more from “President Trump Tells Supporters To Go Home ‘in Peace’” HERE)

Democrat Jon Ossoff Ousts GOP Sen. David Perdue in Georgia

Democrat Senate candidate Jon Ossoff defeated Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) by a narrow margin in what became the Democrats’ second victory in Georgia’s dual runoff races on Tuesday, which were set to determine which party takes control of the Senate.

The Democrat sweep creates an evenly split upper chamber in Congress of 50 Democrats and 50 Republicans, where any tied votes will be decided by Democrat Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, effectively giving Democrats control.

The Associated Press called the race just after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. Ossoff secured 50.3 percent of the vote to Perdue’s 49.7 percent, a difference of about 25,000 votes, with 98 percent of precincts reporting.

Ossoff, a 33-year-old CEO of a film production company, livestreamed a speech at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday declaring victory. “Whether you were for me, or against me, I’ll be for you in the U.S. Senate,” Ossoff said. He reiterated his campaign message of “health, jobs, and justice” and spoke primarily about his response to coronavirus, vowing he would “trust medical expertise, doctors, and scientists” and push for a “robust public health response so that we can defeat this virus.”

Perdue has not conceded the race, though his campaign released a statement just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning before the race had been called saying it believed Perdue would emerge as the winner. “This is an exceptionally close election that will require time and transparency to be certain the results are fair and accurate and the voices of Georgians are heard,” the statement read. “We will mobilize every available resource and exhaust every legal recourse to ensure all legally cast ballots are properly counted. We believe in the end, Senator Perdue will be victorious.” (Read more from “Democrat Jon Ossoff Ousts GOP Sen. David Perdue in Georgia” HERE)

Report: Mike Pence Does ‘Not Believe’ He Has ‘Power To Block Congressional Certification’; Trump Furiously Denies Reports

By Breitbart. Vice President Mike Pence reportedly told President Trump Tuesday that he does not possess the power to block the certification of the election — a remark that followed Trump asserting the vice president, who is presiding over Wednesday’s joint session of Congress, has the “power to reject fraudulently chosen electors.”

According to a report from the New York Times, Pence reportedly told Trump “he did not believe he had the power to block congressional certification of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory in the presidential election despite Mr. Trump’s baseless insistence that he did, people briefed on the conversation said.”

The report follows an earlier tweet from the president, who said that the vice president “has the power to reject fraudulently chosen electors”:

Congress will formally count the Electoral College votes on Wednesday. Objections from at least one lawmaker in both the House and Senate would trigger debates in both chambers — a phenomenon that is expected to happen, with over 100 GOP members of the House and over a dozen GOP senators signaling their intention to object to electors in disputed states. Trump Furiously Denies Reports Pence Told Him He Cannot Overturn Election Result

By Washington Examiner. President Trump angrily denounced as “fake news” a growing number of reports that Vice President Mike Pence told him he lacked the authority to overturn Electoral College votes when a joint session of Congress convenes to certify the election on Wednesday.

His reaction demonstrates how his repeated, unfounded claims that November’s election was stolen from him have heaped pressure on his most loyal deputy.

For its part, Pence’s office declined to comment on news that he used his weekly lunch with the president to deliver his message, according to the New York Times.

But Trump issued a statement late in the evening, insisting once again that Pence had multiple ways to overturn the result and that he had never said he lacked the power.

“He never said that,” said Trump. “The vice president and I are in total agreement that the vice president has the power to act.” (Read more from “Trump Furiously Denies Reports Pence Told Him He Cannot Overturn Election Result” HERE)

How Taxpayers Lose Out if a Biden Administration Halts Construction on the Southwest Border Wall System

Acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan had to take a moment for himself after he was told on December 31 that, against the odds, 450 miles of the new border wall system had been built. . .

All that progress of securing the southwest border, Morgan warned, can be undone with a Biden administration stopping construction, which Biden has promised to do. Not only will Americans lose out regarding a secure border, but Morgan said the cost to terminate the contracts will be pushed onto the taxpayer because contracts to build more of the border wall system have already been awarded.

“It is going to cost the taxpayers billions of dollars, billions of dollars in settlement fees. We’re going to walk away from areas of wall that have already been constructed. There’s going to be some areas where let’s say we already [dug] a trench and put some rebar in there. We’re actually going to stop and pay them extra to remove the rebar and fill in the trench. And in addition to that, we’ve got about 270 thousand tons of steel bollards that have been produced or are being produced that we’re just going to have to walk away from,” Morgan said.

“We’re either going to have to pay them additional money, on top of the money we paid for the materials, to either destroy what we paid them for already or to store it. It just defies logic for them to just walk away,” he added. (Read more from “How Taxpayers Lose Out if a Biden Administration Halts Construction on the Southwest Border Wall System” HERE)

CNN Host Mocks GOP Senator’s Christian Faith: ‘Mr. Bible Boy’ Has a ‘Bible Quote for Every Moment’

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo openly mocked Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for his Christian faith, saying that “Mr. Bible Boy” has a “Bible quote for every moment.”

Cuomo made the remarks after suggesting that conservatives — including Rubio, an outspoken Christian — are enabling President Donald Trump in his insistence that he won the 2020 presidential election. . .

Leading up to the exchange in question, Lemon attempted an impersonation of President Donald Trump and mocked the president for his recently published phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. . .

Lemon then mulled over how the president could still have any government allies after the leak — a sentiment with which Cuomo apparently agreed.

“Look, Trump, I believe, will be remembered as the worst,” he began. “We’ve never seen anybody abuse the office the way he has — not in our lifetime. But the people, those who remain, the Kevin McCarthys, the people in the House, the people in the Senate. … The man he called Lyin’ Ted, the man he called Little Marco, Mr. Bible Boy. You know, he’s got a Bible quote for every moment, he just never speaks truth to power or acts on any of it in the interest of his own state or of this country.” (Read more from “CNN Host Mocks GOP Senator’s Christian Faith: ‘Mr. Bible Boy’ Has a ‘Bible Quote for Every Moment'” HERE)

‘Chaos’ in Pennsylvania State Senate as GOP Refuses To Seat Dem Declared Winner in Contested Race

Republicans in Pennsylvania’s GOP-controlled state Senate refused to seat a Democratic senator-elect on Tuesday and even moved to have the Democratic lieutenant governor booted from the chamber in a scene local outlet KDKA-TV described as “chaos.” . . .

Democrat Jim Brewster has been certified by the state as the winner of a narrow Senate race against Republican candidate Nicole Ziccarelli. But when it was time for Brewster to be sworn in along with other incoming senators in the state, Republicans intervened and refused to allow him to take the oath of office.

At the time, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D) was presiding over the chamber and protested against the GOP’s move while continuing to try to move forward with Brewster’s swearing in. Republicans reacted by passing a motion to remove Fetterman from the chair, but when the lieutenant governor refused to leave, Republicans simply spoke over him and took over leadership from another part of the chamber.

WATCH: Barstool Sports Raised $18 Million To Help Small Businesses

Barstool Sports founder and President Dave Portnoy has raised over $18 million for struggling small businesses that have continued paying employees despite financial devastation caused by crippling government lockdowns.

Nearly 80 businesses have already been supported by the Barstool Fund after Portnoy became fed up with unjust lockdowns and no relief. “I can’t believe in this country that what I consider the most basic right of them all, the right to earn a living, the right to earn a livelihood, is now being stolen,” Portnoy said. “And they’re saying that they protect us. Let us protect ourselves. You’re not protecting a family that you just destroyed.” . . .

Unlike when citizens blindly hand over tax dollars to the government monolith, Barstool Fund donors know their money will really be helping people. The countless testimonies posted on Portnoy’s Instagram are a perfect example of why private-sector support is more effective, efficient, and trustworthy than big government.

WATCH: Tulsi Gabbard Slams Fellow Democrats’ Hypocrisy for Claiming To Be ‘Champions’ of Women While Denying That Women Exist

Former Hawaii congresswoman and Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard torched House Democrats on Fox News Monday for prioritizing rule changes to eliminate gender references from the lower chamber while branding themselves the party of women.

“It’s the height of hypocrisy for people who claim to be the champions of rights for women to deny the very biological existence of women,” said Gabbard, who retired from the lower chamber this year after deciding not to run for re-election, on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “Removing references to, you know, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters from congressional rules and administration, it’s mind-blowing because it shows just how out of touch with reality and the struggles of everyday Americans people in Congress are.”

“Georgia, I am honored by the faith that you have shown in me,” Warnock said in an address to supporters.

“And I promise you this tonight: I am going to the Senate to work for all of Georgia, no matter who you cast your vote for in this election.”
