Texans Vote to Make City Largest Sanctuary for the Unborn

Texans voted overwhelmingly to make Lubbock a “Sanctuary City for the Unborn” by outlawing abortion.

The ordinance makes Lubbock, which has a 2019 population of 229,943, the largest city to ban abortion in the country. Before Lubbock, the largest city to pass a similar ordinance was Big Spring, Texas, which has an estimated population of 28,187, KWKT-TV reported. There are 22 smaller cities in Texas and two in Nebraska that passed “Sanctuary City for the Unborn” legislation. Lubbock is the only town with an active abortion clinic to pass the ordinance, according to KLBK-TV.

The Lubbock County Elections Office released the voting results for the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance, which easily passed by a 62.46% to 37.54% margin, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The ordinance states, “Abortion at all times and at all stages of pregnancy is declared to be an act of murder.”

“It shall be unlawful for any person to procure or perform an abortion of any type and at any stage of pregnancy in the City of Lubbock, Texas,” the ordinance reads. “It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly aid or abet an abortion that occurs in the City of Lubbock, Texas.” (Read more from “Texans Vote to Make City Largest Sanctuary for the Unborn” HERE)

Iran Reaches Deals to Release Prisoners; U.S. Denies

Iran will free prisoners with Western ties in Iran in exchange for billions of dollars from the United States and the United Kingdom, state television reported Sunday. The U.S. immediately denied the report, while the U.K. did not respond.

The state TV report quoted an anonymous official just as Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei began giving what authorities earlier described as an “important” speech. However, Khamenei did not immediately discuss any proposed swap amid negotiations in Vienna over Tehran’s tattered nuclear deal with world powers.

The official quoted by Iranian state TV said a deal made between the U.S. and Tehran involved a prisoner swap in exchange for the release of $7 billion in frozen Iranian funds.

“The Americans accepted to pay $7 billion and swap four Iranians who were active in bypassing sanctions for four American spies who have served part of their sentences,” state TV said, quoting the official in an on-screen crawl. Utah GOP Boos Mitt Romney at State Convention: ‘Traitor!’

A crowd of over 2,000 GOP delegates booed “traitor” Mitt Romney Saturday as the Utah senator addressed his party’s 2021 state convention, where a censure over his two impeachment votes narrowly failed to pass.

“Aren’t you embarrassed?” Romney said as he was greeted with a chorus of catcalls when he took the stage at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

“I’m a man who says what he means, and you know I was not a fan of our last president’s character issues,” said Romney, who was loudly reminded that he was the only Republican senator to vote to convict former President Donald Trump in his first impeachment, and one of seven to vote to convict in the second impeachment following the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.

Delegates tried to shout Romney down, calling him a “traitor” and “communist.” (Read more from “Utah GOP Boos Mitt Romney at State Convention: ‘Traitor!'” HERE)

Biden Issues Indian Travel Ban a Year After Calling Trump’s China Travel Ban Xenophobic

The Biden administration announced Friday it would begin to restrict travel from India on Tuesday as the world’s second-most populated country suffers an overwhelming surge in coronavirus cases.

“On the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the administration will restrict travel from India starting immediately,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement. “The policy will be implemented in light of extraordinarily high COVID-19 caseloads and multiple variants circulating in India. The policy will take effect on Tuesday, May 4.”

The travel ban comes a year after Biden vilified such restrictions as xenophobic when pursued by President Donald Trump while the Wuhan virus began to mutate into a global pandemic from China.

“This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia,” Biden said campaigning in Iowa on Jan. 31, the day Trump’s travel ban on China was announced. (Read more from “Biden Issues Indian Travel Ban a Year After Calling Trump’s China Travel Ban Xenophobic” HERE)

Chinese Embassy Tweets Anti-American, Antisemitic Cartoon

The Chinese Embassy in Japan last Thursday tweeted an antisemitic cartoon and then deleted it at the behest of Israel’s Foreign Ministry.

The cartoon featured an image of the Grim Reaper wearing an American flag and carrying a scythe with the Israeli flag as he goes door to door and leaves a bloody trail behind him. The doors are labeled Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Egypt.

The tweet in Japanese said: “If the United States brought ‘democracy,’ it would be like this.”

The cartoon demonized Israel, Israeli Ambassador to Japan Yaffa Ben-Ari told her Chinese counterpart, Cheng Yonghua, on Friday.

Yonghua said he had not noticed that Israel was part of the image. (Read more from “Chinese Embassy Tweets Anti-American, Antisemitic Cartoon” HERE)

White House Admits: Americans To Experience Some Inflation (VIDEO)

Council of Economic Advisers chair Cecilia Rouse said on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that they expect to see some “transitory inflation” as America is coming out of the coronavirus pandemic. . .

She continued, “We know that there are some places where employers are struggling to workers because, let’s face it — we’re still in the middle of the pandemic. Some workers would like to go back to work but have font child care because schools are not open and the pandemic is still out of control in certain parts of our country. When we get to the other side of this pandemic, I fully expect that our labor market will come back and be flourishing. That said, we do expect some transitory price increases. The Feds expects that as well. We do not see evidence at the moment that those have become what we call de-anchored so that we expect runaway inflation. That said, we know we have to be vigilant, and we are watching the data. We expect, at the most, transitory inflation. That is what we expect coming out of a big recession.” (Read more from “White House Admits: Americans To Experience Some Inflation (VIDEO)” HERE)

Former Black Lives Matter Movement Leader Arrested

A one-time Black Lives Matter movement leader in Iowa City was arrested after allegedly lying to authorities about a killing that took place in his apartment.

Mazin M. Mohamedali, 20, was arrested Saturday and faces one count of accessory after the fact.

Police reported that Mohamedali, who previously identified himself as a leader of a racial justice group called the Iowa Freedom Riders leader, knew that 19-year-old Quincy Russom had been killed in his Iowa apartment on Feb. 12 during a suspected robbery but waited to call 911.

Police also said that he gave false descriptions of people involved with Russom’s death, lied during questioning, and withheld information that would have more quickly led them to the suspect behind the killing, Sammy Hamed.
