Celebrity doctor and Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz was raked over the coals this week for his campaign offering some unsolicited medical advice to his Democratic rival, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman. In May, Fetterman suffered a stroke from which he, in his words, “almost died.”

“If John Fetterman had ever eaten a vegetable in his life, then maybe he wouldn’t have had a major stroke and wouldn’t be in the position of having to lie about it constantly,” said Oz spokeswoman Rachel Tripp in a statement to Business Insider. . .

First of all, thank God Fetterman is alive. Anyone who wishes death upon their political opponents should reevaluate his own life.

But second, it’s way past time our leaders took more pride in personal health and prioritized clean eating habits, especially as the country continues to ignore the grim lessons from the coronavirus pandemic and adds weight to an already supersized population. Maybe if our politicians placed more value on personal health as a personal responsibility serving as the bedrock of public health to begin with, leaders wouldn’t have impulsively shut down gyms and livelihoods over a virus that disproportionately kills the obese.

By March 2021 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed nearly 80 percent of those hospitalized with the novel coronavirus were either overweight or obese. Yet the latest data from the CDC which leads up to March 2020 shows 42 percent of Americans are categorically obese. As many as 77 percent of U.S. adults are considered, at minimum, overweight. Ranked-Choice Voting Is a Nightmare — And It’s on the Ballot in Nevada

The electoral battleground of Nevada could become the next state to adopt a ranked-choice voting system for future primary and general elections.

Set to appear on the ballot for the upcoming midterm elections, the initiative — if successfully passed — would amend the constitution of Nevada by implementing a ranked-choice voting system for both state and federal primary and general elections, in which primaries “would be opened up to all voters regardless of political party.” Under such a system, voters would rank their top five preferred primary candidates, with the top five overall vote-getters advancing to the general contest.

In the general election, if a candidate fails to garner “an outright majority (more than 50 percent),” the candidate who has the “fewest first-preference votes would be eliminated, with their ‘votes’ redistributed based on the second preference of those individual ballots.” Such a process “would continue until the final two candidates, or when one candidate reached a majority.”

While largely ignored by America’s corporate press, the ballot initiative to completely overhaul Nevada’s election system has silently been gaining traction among state voters. During the first quarter of 2022, Nevada Voters First, a political action committee devoted to the expansion of ranked-choice voting in the state, and other supporters of the measure raised approximately $2.2 million to assist in advancing the passage of the initiative. Moreover, a recent survey of nearly 1,000 registered voters conducted by The Nevada Independent and OH Predictive Insights found growing support among Nevadans for ranked-choice voting, with 42 percent of those surveyed supporting the 2022 ballot initiative and 27 percent opposing. GOP Rails Against Biden’s Half a Trillion Dollar Loan Forgiveness Plan

According to an analysis from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, President Biden’s debt cancellation plan will cost between “$440 billion and $600 billion over the next ten years,” and Republicans are continuing to warn that the move is not fiscally responsible or fair.

President Biden on Wednesday announced his plan to forgive a portion of student loan debt for those earning less than $125,000 per year.

According to a graphic shared by Biden, under the plan, those making less than $125,000 will see $20,000 forgiveness if they went to college on a Pell Grant, and $10,000 for those who did not receive Pell Grants:

While some Democrats say the plan does not go far enough, most are celebrating it as a step in the right direction, while conservatives continue to warn that it is yet another irresponsible and unfair fiscal move at the hands of Democrats.

“Why should a machinist in Ohio pay for the student loans of a jobless philosophy major in Los Angeles?” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) asked on Thursday:

Donald Trump Trolls FBI With Redacted ‘Make America Great Again’ Statement: ‘They Missed a Page!’

Former President Donald Trump mocked the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) heavily redacted search warrant affidavit that was used as the basis for the FBI raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

DOJ released the affidavit on Friday after Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who approved the search warrant, ordered the underlying affidavit to be unsealed on Thursday. However, the released affidavit was heavily redacted after Judge Reinhart found the federal government provided “good cause” to keep portions of the document under seal.

The redactions were put in place “in order to protect the safety of multiple civilian witnesses,” according to a DOJ filing.

Trump mocked the highly redacted document in a statement issued several hours after the affidavit was released.

“They missed a page,” Trump said, along with an edited version of the document that redacted all but four words: Make America Great Again.

DOJ Redacts Reasons for Redacting Info in Mar-a-Lago Raid Affidavit

The Department of Justice (DOJ) redacted its reasoning for redacting nearly the entire search warrant affidavit relating to the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

The DOJ released the highly redacted affidavit Friday after Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart ordered the agency to submit redactions to the affidavits following his rejection of their push to keep the document private. Reinhart — who also signed off on the search warrant used in the FBI’s raid — approved the redactions Thursday.

The DOJ, however, redacted its reasoning for the redactions while simultaneously attempting to justify the raid.

The only justification not redacted is “agent safety,” while every other reason for the redactions is redacted.

Former Bush Official Alleges a Secret Service Member Told DOJ About Classified Materials

Former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove speculated Friday on Fox News that a Secret Service agent may have informed the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI that there were classified documents inside Mar-a-Lago.

The Bush-era White House official said Secret Service members are sworn federal law officers and have a legal responsibility to report a crime. Due to this duty, Rove speculated that an agent informed the DOJ and FBI that former President Donald Trump’s lawyer falsely claimed in a letter that all classified material had been turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

“The Secret Service, and this is my own personal trajectory, I have no information other than just simply knowing that the Secret Service is there, they have no statutory responsibility over classified material but they are sworn federal law officers. They’re law enforcement, and they have a responsibility to report a crime and particularly after a letter is sent from one of the president’s lawyers saying ‘we don’t have any more classified material’ and President Trump has told the June 3 meeting ‘you can get anything you need, just say, and we’ll get if for you,’” Rove said.

“If somebody sent a letter and it said we don’t have classified material and somebody in the Secret Service said ‘I have seen classified material still within the walls of Mar-a-Lago’ and had a responsibility to report that up through the chain of command, or maybe directly to the counterintelligence division. They would have somebody who had said in essence ‘you have been misled,’” he continued. Recorded Phone Call and Archived Webpage Suggest That Children’s National Hospital in DC Offered ‘Gender-Affirming’ Hysterectomies to Children, Some Even Younger Than 16

An archived webpage and a call with hospital staff suggest that Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. provided hysterectomies to children as a “gender-affirming” procedure.

Fox News Digital reported that an archived webpage from August 18 listed “gender-affirming medical care and gender-affirming hysterectomy” as a service provided to patients “between the ages of 0-21.” Since at least June 2021, the webpage has listed the offering, but the hospital recently removed it.

When the news organization reached out to the D.C. hospital, a spokesperson stated that Children’s National Hospital does not provide gender reassignment surgery to children. They said that the previous webpage version that listed the service was a “flaw in the design of our website.”

The Twitter account Libs of TikTok first broke the story. The founder of the social media account, Chaya Raichik, posted an audio recording of a phone call with hospital staff confirming that they would be willing to perform a hysterectomy on a 16-year-old girl.

Two Florida residents pleaded guilty to stealing President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley Biden’s diary; and then selling it to the conservative group Project Veritas.

Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander admitted in a New York City federal court to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property involving the theft of personal belongings of an immediate family member of a then-former government official who was a candidate for national political office.

“Harris and Kurlander stole personal property from an immediate family member of a candidate for national political office… they sold the property to an organization in New York for $40,000 and even returned to take more of the victim’s property when asked to do so. Harris and Kurlander sought to profit from their theft of another person’s personal property, and they now stand convicted of a federal felony as a result,” Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement. . .

According to the diary, Ashley wrote that her father and our president took showers with her when she was young girl, fueling her sex-addiction.

Two Florida individuals pled guilty on Thursday to transporting stolen property across state lines for their roles in selling Ashley Biden’s diary to Project Veritas, the organization run by conservative provocateur James O’Keefe. . .

Reporter Gets Education Secretary to Make Telling Admission About Student Loan Debt Forgiveness

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona openly admitted Wednesday that President Joe Biden’s student loan debt forgiveness plan will not benefit Americans who already paid off their debt or never used debt to pay for college.

The admission underscores what millions of Americans — those who paid off their loans already — believe is an unfair plan.

Speaking with Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy outside the White House, Cardona addressed criticism that says the plan is not fair.

According to Cardona, the aim of the plan is to “address the effects of the pandemic.” He claimed his responsibility as education secretary is to ensure that people are not worse off now than they were before the pandemic hit. The claim is confusing, because Americans who hold student loan debt have had a pause on repaying loans for 2.5 years.

“But to the fairness question, the people that are sitting at home having just paid off their student loans or having paid them off years ago, what’s in it for them?” Doocy pushed back. Unvaxxed Navy Sailors Face ‘Deplorable’ Living Conditions While Religious Exemptions Pend

U.S. Navy service members who are seeking religious exemptions to the Department of Defense’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate have been transferred into deplorable living conditions and, in some cases, are unable to leave while awaiting termination from the military, according to court documents.

First Liberty Institute in November filed a lawsuit on behalf of 35 active-duty SEALs and three reservists seeking a religious exemption to the mandate, as first reported by Fox News Digital. The case has since been amended to extend to a class action lawsuit encompassing all Navy service members seeking religious accommodation.

In March, the Supreme Court blocked a lower court’s order in Texas that would have forced the Navy to stop implementing the vaccine mandate. Now, the case is continuing to be litigated in lower courts around the country, and unvaccinated SEALs and other sailors who have not yet been terminated by the U.S. government are stuck in limbo, with many of them forced into less-than-desirable alternative housing by the military or barred from traveling outside their base.

In a court filing in June by First Liberty in the Northern District of Texas Fort Worth Division District Court, sailors recounted deplorable conditions on large U.S. vessels, where they remain waiting as their cases are adjudicated.
