Trump Lawyer Who Signed Letter on Classified Records Speaks With Authorities: Report

Trump lawyer Christina Bobb, a key player in the Mar-a-Lago document debacle, reportedly met with federal investigators in recent days.

During her meeting with investigators, Bobb highlighted two other lawyers who were involved in the classified document rift, three sources told NBC News. Bobb signed a letter on June 3 attesting that all classified material holed up in Mar-a-Lago had been returned to the government.

The letter has sparked speculation that she could be in legal jeopardy because the FBI collected over a dozen boxes of materials from Mar-a-Lago nearly two months later, and the Justice Department says about 100 of the records bore classified markings. However, sources familiar with the situation noted that she managed to finagle an important caveat in the letter.

“She had to insist on that disclaimer twice before she signed it,” a source told NBC. “She is not criminally liable. … She is not going to be charged. She is not pointing fingers. She is simply a witness for the truth.”

Bobb signed the certification letter in June following a grand jury subpoena that demanded assurances Trump no longer possessed documents that had classified markings. During her recent discussion with investigators, Bobb talked about Trump legal adviser Boris Epshteyn, who participated in some talks about the documents, per NBC.
