States Advance ‘Born Alive’ Abortion Restrictions

Two GOP- led state legislatures have advanced legislation that tightens restrictions on abortion with new “born alive” provisions that have enough support to override Democratic opposition.

The legislation in both states is similar to other “born alive” bills in state legislatures throughout the country that seek to protect fetuses from being aborted. Montana’s laws will take effect July 1; North Carolina’s bills are yet to pass the state legislature, though are likely to do so because Republicans hold a veto-proof majority.

In Montana, Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte signed five bills on Wednesday that would impose abortion restrictions. House Bill 544, the first bill signed, restricts Medicaid funding for abortion to only those procedures required to protect the life of the mother or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, and only to such procedures performed by a physician. House Bill 862 bans public funding for any abortion in the state except those meeting these requirements.

House Bill 625, known as the “Infant Safety and Care Act,” is legislation that requires doctors to preserve the life of a child born following an attempted abortion, similar to a measure that Montana voters rejected in 2022. It mirrors several “born alive” bills passed by other Republican-led states and one passed by the current GOP-led U.S. House of Representatives. In a paragraph-long tweet, the Democratic presidential candidate claimed that Zelensky could have prevented the invasion by just saying the five words “I will not join NATO.” Instead, Kennedy said, Zelensky cozied up to NATO, bowing to alleged pressure from “NeoCons in the Biden White House” and “fascist elements” in his own government.

Russia Claims Ukraine Tried to Kill Putin With Drone Attack

By NBC News. Russia claimed Wednesday that Ukraine tried to assassinate President Vladimir Putin in an overnight drone attack on the Kremlin, news that drew denials from Kyiv and furious demands for retaliation from nationalists in Moscow.

The Kremlin’s accusation, made without providing evidence, was the latest in a string of reported incidents far from the war’s front lines. Kyiv said it had nothing to do with the alleged incident and suggested it could be used as a pretext for a new Russian attack inside Ukraine.

The United States had no advance notice if there was a drone attack against the Kremlin by Ukraine, three U.S. officials told NBC News. Two of the officials expressed skepticism that a drone could get that close to the Kremlin given the fact that Russia has so many air defense systems protecting it.

An attack on the heart of Moscow, even if foiled, would represent a dramatic illustration of Russian vulnerability ahead of an expected Ukrainian counteroffensive that will seek to push the Kremlin’s forces out of of occupied land. U.S. Track and Field Gold Medal Olympian Tori Bowie Dies Suddenly at 32 (VIDEO)

American Olympic gold medal winner in track and field Tori Bowie has died unexpectedly at the age of 32, according to reports.

The former sprinter was found dead at her home on Tuesday, according to TMZ. No cause of death was revealed.

“We’re devastated to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away,” Icon Management Inc. said in a statement released early Wednesday morning.

“We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friend,” the company spokesman added.

Ukraine Denies Trying to Assassinate Putin

Russia said Wednesday it had shot down two drones at President Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin residence in what it called a Ukrainian “terrorist” assassination attempt.

Kyiv insisted it had “nothing to do” with the alleged attack, suggesting it was “staged” by Moscow, while the US said the report should be taken with a “shaker of salt”.

“We do not attack Putin or Moscow,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on a visit to Finland.

Chairman Milley on Avoiding War With China: U.S. Must Strengthen Military

Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. military needs to become stronger to deter a war with China, while preventing Beijing from forging a closer alliance with Russia.

Gen. Milley told the journal Foreign Affairs that unlike the Cold War standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union, military power today is divided among three nations — the United States, China and Russia.

“It is not in the U.S. interest to see Russia and China form a strategic military alliance, and we should do what we can to make sure that that doesn’t happen,” the four-star general said in a lengthy exchange with the publication. “Today we’re in a tripolar world, so three is more complicated than two — and that relationship is very difficult to manage.”

Biden Administration Announces New Military Aid for Ukraine

The Biden administration has announced a new round of military aid to Ukraine valued at $300 million, and it will include a short-range air-launched rocket for the first time.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre first announced the planned assistance at Wednesday’s press briefing, saying it includes more ammunition for United States-provided weapons such as High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), howitzers, artillery, and mortar rounds and anti-armor capabilities.

“It follows extensive work by the U.S. government over the past few months to fulfill Ukraine’s requests ahead of its planned counteroffensive and ensure they have the weapons and equipment they need,” Jean-Pierre said.

This package is being authorized via the president’s drawdown authority, the 37th since Russia’s war began, which means the weapons will come from current U.S. stockpiles and will go to Ukraine sooner than otherwise. It brings the total amount of military aid the U.S. has donated to Ukraine to more than $35 billion over the course of the war.

New training documents from the U.S. Marshals Service show law enforcement agents were discouraged from arresting leftist protestors outside of the homes of Supreme Court Justices last year. The raucous protestors, who showed up in the aftermath of the Dobbs leak — which revealed Roe v. Wade would be overturned — repeatedly broke the law.

18 U.S. Code § 1507 – Picketing or parading

Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

In a letter to U.S. Marshals Service Director Ronald Davis, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is revealing the details.

“In in May 2022, some Supreme Court justices faced relentless protests at their homes, seemingly intended to influence the Court’s decision. Although federal law prohibits picketing near the residence of a federal judge with the intent to influence the judge’s official duties, recent evidence indicates that the U.S. Marshals protecting the justices were directed to ‘not’ conduct arrests ‘unless it was absolutely necessary.’ As the Supreme Court and the justices continue to face a barrage of unrelenting attacks, we write to you requesting documents and information relating to this matter,” Jordan wrote. Seventh Grader Kills 8 Classmates and Guard in Targeted School Shooting

A 13-year-old boy opened fire at his school in Serbia on Wednesday, killing a security guard and eight classmates and wounding six other students and a teacher, officials say.

Kosta Kecmanovic, a seventh-grade student at Vladislav Ribnikar School, was arrested following a deadly attack police say was meticulously planned, complete with a list of victims the suspect intended to target, The Associated Press reported. Kecmanovic allegedly began his shooting spree by first killing the guard at the Belgrade school and then opening fire in a classroom located near the school entrance, the outlet stated.

Milan Milosevic, whose daughter was in a history class during the shooting, told local reporters she witnessed Kecmanovic firing at the teacher first before the children ducked under their desks, AP reported. Many students reportedly fled the scene by escaping through a back door, officials told the outlet.

Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy left a Biden administration official speechless Wednesday after asking him how spending $50 trillion will reduce global temperatures.

Department of Energy Deputy Secretary David Turk testified Wednesday before the Senate committee on appropriations to discuss the 2024 budget request for the Department of Energy.

Kennedy noted the budget requests a 38% increase in green energy funding while cutting nuclear energy funding with barely an increase fossil fuel energy. Kennedy then asked Turk for an estimate of how much it would cost to be carbon neutral by 2050, with Turk refusing to provide a number. Kennedy first said Turk’s colleagues have presented a figure in the range of $50 trillion before asking how much would temperatures be affected by that massive spending.

“If you could answer my question: if we spend $50 trillion to become carbon neutral in the United States of America by 2050, you’re the deputy secretary of energy, give me your estimate of how much that is going to reduce world temperature.”

“So first of all it’s a net cost, it’s what benefits we’re having by getting our act together and reducing all of those climate benefits, we’re seeing –” Turk said before Kennedy interjected.

Former Obama Officials Reportedly Met With Jeffrey Epstein on Several Occasions, Unearthed Docs Reveal

A group of officials in President Barack Obama’s administration were recently revealed to have had multiple meetings with deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, according to documents obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

Epstein, a former real estate mogul, was convicted of soliciting prostitution and one count of soliciting prostitution with a minor in 2006 and then accused in 2019 of running a massive human trafficking operation of underage girls before he committed suicide that year, according to The Associated Press. Epstein’s high-profile contacts included Larry Summers, the former undersecretary of the Treasury, William Burns, CIA director and the former deputy secretary of state and Kathryn Ruemmler, a lawyer at Goldman Sachs and White House counsel from 2011 to 2014, according to Epstein’s calendar obtained by the WSJ.

Summers, also formerly the director of the National Economic Council for the Obama administration from 2009 to 2011, was first listed as one of the names in Epstein’s black book in 2019 and the calendar revealed that the two had multiple meetings, according to the WSJ. Summers met with Epstein on two separate occasions in 2014 for advice regarding Elisa New’s, Summers’ wife, charity projects.
