Ukrainian Scandal Confirmed: Alleged Embezzlement of $40 Million Meant for Ammunition by Officials, Reveals Intelligence Agency

Ukrainian officials stole nearly $40 million meant for procurement of ammunition in an embezzlement scheme discovered in December 2023, Ukrainian counterintelligence authorities said Thursday.

An unnamed directorate head in Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) allegedly was at the head of the scheme that illegally transferred almost UAH 1.5 billion (USD 39 million) meant to purchase artillery shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to foreign accounts of an MoD-affiliated intermediary company, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) said in a statement.

“This amount was 30% higher than the value of an alternative contract concluded by the newly created Defense Procurement Agency,” the statement read in part.

The stolen funds were state funds, the SSU noted in the statement. The SSU together with the Prosecutor General’s Office and the MoD reportedly uncovered the scheme, recovered the funds, and returned them to the state budget. . .

The fraudulent transaction — meant for 100,000 mortar shells that were never supplied — occurred during the former Minister of Defence Oleksii Reznikov’s tenure, the Washington Post reported. Those allegedly involved in the scheme include Oleksandr Liev, who was the head of the Department of Military-Technical Policy, Development of Weapons and Military Equipment of the Ministry of Defense; the current head of this department, Toomas Nakhkur; and the head of the arms supplier Lviv Arsenal, Yuriy Zbitnev, according to the report, citing an unnamed security service official. Aaron Keyak, the State Department’s deputy special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, suggested that anti-Semitism has spread throughout China since Hamas’ surprise attack against the Jewish state on October 7, according to Fox News Digital. The comments were made last week when Keyak spoke at the U.S. Bar Association.

Keyak said that “[t]here’s been an increase in the People’s Republic of China’s state media and online discourse of antisemitic tropes that Jews control the United States through deep U.S.-Israel ties, as well as control over banks, the media, and that they have influence over government leaders.”

“Conjecture that Jews control the U.S. government and U.S. wealth is an antisemitic falsehood intended to degrade trust in the United States, our democratic institutions and, ultimately, democracy around the globe.”

The Hudson Institute published a report in November 2023 that laid out China’s propensity for anti-Semitic rhetoric. The report mentioned that China’s ideological roots are, in many ways, rooted in Marxist political thought. And Karl Marx’s “first serious publications was his 1844 pamphlet ‘On the Jewish Question,’ in which he argued that Jews constituted ‘a problem’ for Europe, the solution to which was for Europe to rid itself of what he termed the Jews’ real religion — the worship of money.” . . .

The Next Early Nominating State Is Just Around the Corner — And It’s Not South Carolina

While all eyes are on South Carolina following New Hampshire’s Republican primary on Tuesday, one state will hold its nominating contests two weeks earlier — Nevada.

Nevada is holding a state primary on Feb. 6 and a party-run caucus two days later, but only one of the nominating contests will count for awarding delegates to the Republican National Committee’s July convention. While former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will be on the primary ballot, former President Donald Trump is the only major Republican candidate competing for delegates in the Nevada GOP-run caucus.

“I know that some people got angry when CNN called Iowa before people voted, but you could’ve called Nevada months ago,” Jeremy Hughes, a Republican strategist based in Nevada, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Nevada Republican Party had been holding caucuses in presidential cycles for decades until former Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak signed legislation in 2021 requiring a primary system for such elections. The state GOP has pushed back against the new law, deciding to hold the caucus anyway and award the 26 delegates proportionally through its results.

Shocking Discovery: Newborn Found Behind Dumpsters Leads to Two in Custody

A disturbing incident unfolded last week in a Mississippi mobile home park, as authorities discovered a newborn baby girl abandoned behind dumpsters. The subsequent arrest of two individuals, Marlid Susana Carballo, 27, and Arsides Gomez, 27, has brought attention to the troubling circumstances surrounding the infant’s abandonment.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office reported that the baby, estimated to be around two or three weeks old, was found by three men disposing of trash in the Grove of Cayce Mobile Home Park, situated approximately 35 miles southeast of Memphis, Tennessee. The infant, nestled in a car seat and wrapped in blankets, was heard crying by the individuals near the dumpsters.

Following the discovery, the baby girl was swiftly transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, where she is reported to be in good condition. Authorities have decided to release the infant into the custody of the Marshall County Department of Human Services.

Marlid Susana Carballo and Arsides Gomez now face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and false reporting of a crime, as reported by WREG. The circumstances leading to the abandonment remain unclear, prompting investigators to return to the scene to search for clues and review security camera footage. Additionally, authorities have planned to examine the child’s car seat for prints and DNA in an effort to gather more information.

Commander of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Kelly McMillen, urged the public to come forward with any information related to the incident, stating, “We’re not even sure if this child is from our area. If you’re aware of anybody that’s had a child abducted or that’s been taken by force of violence, you need to contact us immediately.”

The arrests of Carballo and Gomez were announced by the sheriff’s office on social media, though details surrounding the charges remain limited.

The incident has reignited discussions about Safe Haven laws, existing in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. These laws aim to protect newborns by providing parents with alternatives to criminal abandonment. In Mississippi, the state’s Safe Haven law permits parents to surrender a baby who is 45 days old or younger to specific locations, including hospitals, firefighters/EMS, licensed adoption agencies, and designated baby boxes, as outlined by Safe Haven Baby Boxes.

Border Patrol Union Backs Texas National Guard, Slams ‘Catastrophe’ Biden ‘Has Unleashed on America’ (VIDEO)

The official union of U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a statement on Thursday backing the Texas National Guard’s attempts to secure the southern border and slamming the Biden administration for its “catastrophic” border policies.

The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), which has more than 18,000 members, said that the “rank-and-file” Border Patrol agents “appreciate and respect” the measures Texas has taken to repel the record flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. under Biden.

“TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period,” the NBPC said. “If TX NG members have LAWFUL orders, then they have to carry out those orders.”

Earlier this week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott doubled down on using razor wire to repel migrants from illegally crossing the border after the Supreme Court ruled that Border Patrol agents have the authority to cut through the wire to allow illegal immigrants into the country. On Friday, The Daily Wire found that Texas authorities have not only maintained existing razor wire fortifications but have added razor wire to border barriers, all while continuing to bar Border Patrol from establishing a presence at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass.

“The idea is that there are no trucks that can serve the capital, to ensure that no product enters Paris, to make Parisians understand that they need farmers to live. Former President Donald Trump’s legal team plans to appeal the $83.3 million decision in the defamation lawsuit from E. Jean Carroll due to an alleged “insane” conflict of interest with the presiding judge.

As Breitbart News reported Friday, a jury awarded “an additional $83.3 million to former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who says former President Donald Trump damaged her reputation by calling her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.” . . .

Over the weekend, Donald Trump’s legal team said they will appeal the ruling, with attorney Alina Habba claiming they were unaware of the fact Judge Lewis Kaplan had previously mentored E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, in the 1990s. Despite similar last names, the two have no relation. . .

“It was never disclosed. It’s insane and so incestuous,” Habba said, alleging that the past relationship had never been disclosed.
