Our Most Serious National Security Threat Isn’t Russian Nukes in Space, It’s Intelligence Agencies in Washington

It was a busy day in Washington on Wednesday as the intelligence bureaucracy tried to foment a national security panic over Russian nukes in space in hopes of ramming through the Ukraine aid package and killing reforms designed to curb its power to spy on Americans.

Lest you think that sounds crazy, consider the timing of the panic provocations, which came almost immediately after House Speaker Mike Johnson said he and other Republicans weren’t going to be “rushed” into approving the $61 billion aid package for Ukraine. It also came at the precise moment — just coincidentally! — that the House was debating reforms to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, set to expire in April, that would end warrantless surveillance of Americans, which of course the White House and intelligence agencies oppose.

All of it just goes to show that the most serious threat facing America isn’t Russian nukes in space or overseas terrorist plots, it’s the political class in Washington and our intelligence agencies that think they’re above the law.

Here’s what happened. On Wednesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner issued a cryptic warning about a “national security threat” related to a “destabilizing foreign military capability” so grave that President Biden should declassify all information about it immediately. Soon thereafter, anonymous sources leaked to the press that the threat was about Russia wanting to put nuclear weapons in space.

This prompted a flood of statements from Republicans and Democrats that the threat was very serious — but not to worry, they have the situation under control. Alarming Surge: U.S. Military Sees 100-Fold Increase in Weight-Loss Drug Prescriptions

The number of U.S. military service members on weight-loss drugs have jumped nearly 100-fold since 2018, according to a recent analysis of Defense Department data.

On Thursday, Stars and Stripes, an independent military publication, reported on the study posted in the Medical Surveillance Monthly Report, a peer-reviewed journal for the armed forces. According to the latest report out in January, the prevalence of weight-loss drug prescriptions for U.S. military personnel skyrocketed from 1.2 per 100,000 service members in 2018 to 104.4 per 100,000 members in June 2023.

“Use of weight loss medications will likely continue to increase due to the ongoing obesity epidemic in the U.S.,” researchers noted, with obesity among the armed forces already on the rise. The prevalence of obesity jumped from just more than 16 percent among full-time active service members to nearly 19 percent in 2021. Roughly 67 percent of the U.S. adult population aged 18 and older were qualified as either obese or overweight in 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The CDC estimates the Pentagon spends about $1.5 billion in obesity-related health costs and loses 658,000 work days due to it each year. In 2018, the Department of Defense authorized the use of four weight-loss drugs due to the crisis within the military’s ranks.

U.S. lockdowns accelerated the pace of weight gain with nearly 10,000 Army service members emerging obese, according to the Associated Press last spring. Military prescriptions for weight-loss drugs went from 7 in January 2018 to 816 in June 2023. Weight-loss injections such as semaglutide, which was included in the list of medications covered in 2021, can carry severe side effects, from kidney damage to stomach paralysis. Nikki Haley Declines Commitment to Support Trump: Tensions Rise Between Candidates

In a recent appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Republican presidential candidate and former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) stirred controversy by refusing to explicitly commit to supporting former President Donald Trump if he secures the GOP presidential nomination. This development comes as tensions escalate within the Republican party, with Haley openly expressing reservations about Trump’s suitability for office.

During the interview, ABC’s Jonathan Karl confronted Haley with her earlier pledge to support Trump if he won the Republican nomination. However, in light of recent events where Trump made controversial remarks about NATO and Russia, and Haley herself criticized him as “diminished, unhinged, unfit for office,” the commitment seems to be in question.

When pressed about whether she would back Trump if he emerged as the nominee, Haley replied, “I am running against him for a reason.” She emphasized that her focus is on the present race, expressing her belief that Trump is not the right person for the presidency.

Haley continued, stating that her primary concern is winning the nomination and correcting the issues facing America. She downplayed the importance of discussing potential support for Trump at this stage.

Jonathan Karl persisted, seeking clarity on whether Haley would support Trump if he became the Republican nominee. In response, Haley confidently asserted, “That means I’m going to run and I’m going to win. And y’all can talk about support later.”

As the GOP nomination race unfolds, Haley’s reluctance to offer a straightforward endorsement raises questions about the unity within the republican party as a result of its disdain towards Donald Trump.

Fani Willis’ Father Makes Eyebrow-Raising Claim in Defending His Daughter

The father of embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis took the stand Friday, testifying that he backs up her story about storing cash at home, listens avidly to conservative talk radio, and knew about COVID-19 well before most other Americans. . .

“Your Honor, I’m not trying to be racist, OK? But it’s a black thing,” John Floyd, Willis’ father and also a lawyer, explained to Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, the presiding judge. “I was trained, and most black folks hide cash and they keep cash.” . . .

In what turned out to be an unusual exchange, Merchant tried to determine Floyd’s whereabouts in 2019, and whether he might have been aware of his daughter’s relationship with Wade.

“Did you spend any time in 2019 in California?” Merchant asked Floyd.

“I did not. What happened was COVID. Once COVID hit, I was just paralyzed. I couldn’t go anyplace,” Floyd said.

CDC Confirms ‘Unknown’ Outbreak Spreading on Cruise Ship

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has officially confirmed an outbreak of an “unknown” illness on the Queen Victoria cruise ship. The outbreak was initially reported in early February when 15 individuals on the cruise ship experienced symptoms of an undiagnosed illness, including vomiting and diarrhea.

Despite efforts to contain the mystery illness, the CDC revealed that the outbreak has escalated, with at least 154 people affected – 129 passengers and 25 crew members. The Queen Victoria cruise ship, operated by Cunard Cruise Line, currently hosts 1,824 passengers and 967 crew members.

The cause of the outbreak remains “unknown,” leaving health officials and cruise operators grappling with the challenge of identifying and containing the source. The CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program, dedicated to preventing and controlling the spread of gastrointestinal illnesses on cruise ships, is closely monitoring the situation.

Cunard Cruise Line has implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures, isolated affected passengers and crew, and informed all current and embarking passengers about the situation.

The Queen Victoria cruise ship is currently on a 55-day voyage that began on January 22 in Hamburg, Germany. Despite the ongoing outbreak, the ship is scheduled to arrive in Apia, Samoa, on Tuesday, with the voyage concluding in Sydney, Australia, on March 4.

While the CDC report has not yet identified the specific cause of the outbreak, norovirus has historically been the most common source of illnesses on cruise ships. Norovirus is a highly contagious virus known to cause vomiting and diarrhea.

‘Squad’ Congresswoman Urges Democrats to ‘Vote Uncommitted’ Against Joe Biden

Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib urged voters in her home state Saturday to “vote uncommitted” against President Joe Biden in the Feb. 27 presidential primary.

Tlaib released a video on social media calling for Michigan residents to avoid voting for the president as she expressed her discontent with the Biden administration’s handling of the conflict on the Gaza Strip.

“Right now, we feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government,” Tlaib said. “If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted.”

Tlaib, who was the only member of Congress to not vote in favor of a resolution Wednesday condemning Hamas for the raping of civilians following its Oct. 7 attack on Israel. Allegations of Cash-Fueled Romance Rock Trump Prosecutor Fani Willis: Prosecutor Reimbursed Her Lover Nathan Wade

Fulton County prosecutor Fani Willis is facing serious allegations of reimbursing her lover and fellow Trump case prosecutor, Nathan Wade, with cash for extravagant vacations. The shocking revelation emerged during Wade’s testimony in a Georgia courtroom, where he claimed that expenses for their lavish getaways were initially covered by his business credit card.

The implications of these allegations are substantial, as Judge Scott McAfee expressed on Monday that disqualification from the case is a “possible” outcome if Willis is found to have engaged in an actual conflict of interest with her romantic partner and fellow prosecutor. Such a decision would hand former President Donald Trump a significant victory in the Georgia election interference case.

White House Staffers Say Biden’s Drug Czar Is a ‘Prima Donna’ Who Has Created a ‘Toxic’ Work Environment: Report

The director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy has been described by subordinates as a “prima donna” who created dysfunction within the small group of public servants tasked with addressing the US addiction and overdose epidemic, according to a report.

Several current and former ONDCP officials told Politico Friday that they blame the office’s director, Dr. Rahul Gupta, for fostering a “toxic” work environment that has led to high staff turnover and important deadlines being missed because of the director’s focus on his “political aspirations” rather than the actual job he was hired to do.

“When everybody leaves, it can’t be ‘everybody is the problem,’” one former ONDCP official told the outlet, which notes that at least eight top officials and several other staffers have resigned in recent months largely because of Gupta.

“On some level, you might be the problem,” the former official added, referring to Gupta.

Gupta has pressured staffers to raise his public profile throughout his tenure, according to the report, and fumes when his travel arrangements are not to his liking. Comer: ’30 Million Reasons’ Biden Impeachment Probe Will Continue Despite Indictment of Informant

President Joe Biden called Friday for the House to shut down its impeachment inquiry into alleged influence peddling after the indictment of an FBI informant who said Biden might have accepted $5 million in bribes while vice president.

Special counsel David Weiss, appointed to investigate the financial activities of the president’s son, Hunter Biden, secured a grand jury indictment against Alexander Smirnov, alleging that he lied to the FBI. Smirnov faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

A reporter asked Biden about the indictment at a press conference Friday, and whether the House should drop its impeachment inquiry.

“He is lying and it should be dropped, and it’s just been an outrageous effort from the beginning,” Biden said of Smirnov and the impeachment probe.

But House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., who is in charge of the inquiry, said the impeachment investigation doesn’t rely on Smirnov’s allegation of a bribe made in an FBI form known as a FD-1023. Comer said other evidence shows that millions of dollars in foreign cash went to Hunter Biden and other members of the Biden family. . .

“We have over $30 million reasons to continue this investigation and not one of those reasons relies on the corrupt FBI or an informant,” Comer said in a written statement, adding:

Bank records and witness testimony reveal Joe Biden knew about and participated in his family’s business schemes, and he has repeatedly lied to the American people about these facts. The American people demand the truth and accountability for any wrongdoing. We will continue to follow the facts to propose legislation to reform federal ethics laws and to determine whether articles of impeachment are warranted.

In response to reports that Putin critic Alexei Navalny has died in a Russian prison, your rulers in Washington want you to be angry. Your corrupt government, which is at this very moment working to put your Christian neighbors in prison for protesting abortion, wants you to be very angry at a foreign leader nearly 6,000 miles away so you won’t pay attention to what your leaders are doing to you in your own backyard.

Your government, which wants to disarm you and prevent you from defending yourself, wants you angry at a leader who has no power over you whatsoever. The government that censors you and lies to you about viruses it helped create wants your focus elsewhere. The government that sold your economy off to China and then destroyed the value of your currency wants you mad at someone else.

The government that banned you from going to church and then tried to fire you for not taking its worthless “vaccine” wants to whip you into a frenzy over literally anything else other than what it’s doing to you right now.

The government that opened your borders to invasion and looked the other way as violent crime enveloped your cities wants you to believe that crime on another continent is the only crime you should care about.
