Trump Says He’s Ending Secret Service Protection For Hunter Biden
President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is revoking the Secret Service protection of former President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that both Hunter Biden and his sister Ashley Biden will be having their Secret Service protection revoked, “immediately.” The president explained that Hunter had as many as 18 Secret Service agents on his detail while Ashley had 13 agents who will also be removed.
“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous! He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned. Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance,” Trump wrote in the post.
“Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list,” he continued.
The former president’s son was recently spotted in South Africa on vacation, while being protected by a Secret Service detail, according to reports. Under federal law, former presidents and their spouses are to receive life-long Secret Service protection but immediate family members over 16-years-old do not receive such. Biden extended the details for his children for an additional six months before he exited office. Trump did the same in his first term.
