A preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, began Monday in a Provo, Utah, courtroom.

Charlie Kirk’s parents and widow Erika have been present for the first two days of the proceedings. Day three is set to begin at 1 p.m. MDT on Wednesday. So far, the hearing has focused primarily on which evidence will be admitted and whether there is enough evidence to justify moving forward with a full jury trial.

Here are the main developments from the hearing thus far:

1. Surveillance Footage

Never-before-seen surveillance footage was admitted as evidence and appears to show Robinson visiting the Utah Valley University campus four separate times on Sept. 10 and into the early hours of Sept. 11. Robinson allegedly scouted the scene, got food and returned in new clothing, at which point he allegedly shot Kirk. He returned again around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 11.

The video shows Robinson walking around campus, including on the Losee Center roof, as well as what is allegedly Robinson’s car driving around campus. The defense brought up whether or not Robinson was in fact carrying something when he was seen running off the roof of the Losee Center after the shot was fired. Due to the distance from the camera and the quality of the footage, it was extremely difficult to determine whether he was carrying a rifle-shaped object.

Media Malpractice Might Be Underlying Big Story Of Graham Platner Accusations

Drop Site journalist Ryan Grim authenticated messages Wednesday showing that Politico omitted a key detail about the sexual assault allegations against Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner.

A Politico reporter obtained Jenny Racicot’s text messages between herself and Platner, in which she reportedly told him she needed her “glute massaged” before telling him not to come over. The reporter mentioned this message to the Platner campaign, but later said the detail “didn’t make [their] story.”

In an interview with Politico, Racicot accused Platner of entering her home uninvited in 2021 and forcibly having sex with her without her consent. She later told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Platner had “taken something I said as an invitation,” though Tapper did not follow up and ask her to share the specifics.

A Politico spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation the outlet gave Platner’s campaign “ample opportunity to respond” and that it would include the context if further information arose.

“This story is based on extensive reporting and interviews and reflects our editorial standards,” the spokesperson said. “In interviews with us and in accounts she gave to other outlets, Jenny Racicot said that she told Graham Platner not to come to her home and that he nevertheless showed up there uninvited. POLITICO gave Platner and his campaign ample opportunity to respond to our reporting and to provide any information or documentation they believed contradicted it. 7,100% Spike in 6 Years Exposes a Staggering Scheme Targeting Taxpayers

The Trump administration revealed new figures that show a drastic 7,100% spike in Medicare claims for skin substitutes in just six years as the task force led by Vice President JD Vance continues to crack down on fraud across the country.

The staggering increase in claims occurred between 2019 and 2025, surging from $200 million to $14.4 billion, prompting the anti-fraud task force and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to identify potentially fraudulent claims and deny 96% of claims made since March.

The CMS, which is led by Administrator Mehmet Oz, identified 4,200 suspicious claims for skin substitutes, known as allografts, totaling $224 million in charges through May of this year.

“That’s a lot of money,” Oz said during a press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday. “And that bankrupts not just hospital systems and physician groups, but it causes major problems across the entire landscape.”

The agency also found alleged fraudulent claims for Durable Medical Equipment (DME), which includes wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds and other essential equipment. The agency says that payments have been suspended to 102 suppliers and revoked billing privileges for an additional 725 suppliers. President Donald Trump said that he would work to remove Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism on Wednesday during his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the NATO summit in Turkey.

The State Department followed up on Trump’s comments at the NATO summit by posting a Wednesday press release formalizing Trump’s decision. Al-Sharaa’s movement, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), split from al-Qaeda in 2017, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies; however, the State Department revoked the group’s Foreign Terrorist Organization designation in 2025.

A senior Trump administration official confirmed the development with the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The State Department could not provide a response before the publication deadline.

US Bombing Iran for 2nd Straight Day after Trump Declares Cease-Fire with ‘Sick’ Regime ‘Over’

President Trump ordered another round of airstrikes against Iran on Wednesday, a day after more than 80 targets were hit by US forces in response to the regime’s attacks on cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

“At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” US Central Command said in a statement.

“The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway,” CENTCOM added.

A US official described the assault as “wider in scope” than Tuesday’s strikes and said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps coastal radars, anti-ship missile positions and air defense systems were among the targets, according to Axios.

Missing Pilot’s Haunting Final Audio is Released after Plane Vanished over Pakistan

Search and rescue operations are underway after a Boeing 737 suddenly went missing after departing the Middle East on Tuesday.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, radar data showed the aircraft suddenly losing altitude and “rapidly descending” before making a sharp turn just minutes later.

The Boeing 737, operated by Karachi-based K2 Airways, was a cargo plane with five people on board, travelling from Sharjah in the UAE to Karachi, Pakistan.

The chilling final transmission reveals the pilot raised the alarm that the plane was “rolling or floating”.

While rolling is a phase of flight, floating refers to a landing error.

Army Officer Sentenced to 12 Years for Secretly Drugging Pregnant Soldier with Abortion Pills

An Army officer who secretly drugged a pregnant junior enlisted soldier with abortion pills has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars, Army officials said.

Capt. Brandon Jones-Adams, 34, pleaded guilty to several offenses, including intentionally killing an unborn child, domestic violence, fraternization and conduct unbecoming of an officer, Military.com reported on July 3. He was sentenced during a military trial at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington.

Officials said Jones-Adams admitted to covertly putting abortion drugs in the soldier’s drink. Investigators concluded he ordered the abortion drug mifepristone online using a fake name after trying multiple times to obtain the drug from other sources, per the report.

Jones-Adams and the victim met in November 2024 and had a consensual relationship while assigned to the same battalion, which included a nine-month stint in South Korea. The soldier became pregnant in May 2025, according to the report.

Jones-Adams poured the victim a drink on August 21, 2025, at his home in Puyallup, Washington. After she finished the drink, she noticed a residue in the cup and suspected he had drugged her, according to the report. Shortly after, she began having severe cramping and went to the emergency room at JBLM. While at the hospital, she told medical staff she was concerned she had been drugged. US Airlines Spent over $6B on Monthly Fuel in May amid Iran War — up 84% From Year Ago

U.S. airlines spent $6.66 billion on jet fuel in May, the second straight month that fuel costs topped $6 billion, according to government data released Tuesday.

The May figure was 84% higher than a year earlier.

Airlines spent $6.47 billion on fuel in April, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics said.

The higher year-over-year spending has been driven mostly by pricier jet fuel rather than a significant increase in how much of it airlines consumed.

U.S. carriers used 1.627 billion gallons in May, down 0.6% from May 2025.

Karmelo Anthony should get a do-over trial with a different judge calling the shots this time, his new, high-powered defense team argued in a pair of court motions filed Tuesday.

Anthony’s attorneys made the demands in the appeal of his murder conviction for fatally stabbing fellow high school athlete Austin Metcalf.

The lawyers argued the conviction should be tossed altogether, claiming the now 19-year-old killer’s constitutional rights were violated because his first trial wasn’t fully accessible to the public.

They also claimed that prosecutors prevented him from testifying in his own defense, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

If Anthony is granted a new trial, it should be overseen by a different judge, his lawyers insisted.

Nurse Arrested After 73 Dead Cats Found In Home

A Michigan nurse was arraigned on charges of animal cruelty Monday after authorities removed over 100 cats, 73 of which were dead, from her home.

Emily Karolski, 41, faces charges of animal cruelty to 25 or more animals and animal burial, according to court documents cited by The Detroit News. Fox 2 Detroit described Karolski as “a nurse practitioner who cares for newborns and noted that her house is located in Dryden Township, north of Detroit.

Township police responded to a package delivery driver’s report of a stench emerging from the house, according to Lapeer County Prosecutor John D. Miller, the Detroit News reported. The driver claimed that the odor, which he could smell 150 feet away from the building, made him think someone had died inside.

Officers initiated a welfare check and discovered approximately a dozen dead cats on a kitchen counter as they peered through a window. After police discovered she was not home, firefighters arrived at the scene to help them enter the home, the county prosecutor reported.
