‘Mow The Lawn’: More Signs Point To US Readying Offensive Against Iran
The U.S. military is reportedly prepared to potentially unleash a massive new assault on Iran within 96 hours of President Donald Trump giving the order.
American forces are already positioned in the Middle East for a potentially sweeping offensive targeting Iranian military installations, nuclear facilities and energy infrastructure, two anonymous U.S. officials told CNN. Although Trump has not authorized the strikes, the Pentagon’s preparations come as Israel pushes for a joint military operation and American intelligence warns that Tehran could retaliate against U.S. personnel throughout the region.
“The Department is a planning organization, and its job is to develop and execute military options ordered by the President,” a senior Pentagon official told the DCNF in a statement on Monday.
United States Central Command (CENTCOM) did not immediately respond for comment.
This offensive would go beyond past efforts to simply “mow the lawn” — strike radars, launchers and other Iranian assets to maintain homeostasis, a senior official told CNN, adding it “will be a big effort.”
All indications are that U.S. is heading back to war. The next round could be larger and more devastating for Iran but also for the Middle East. It may not be the end of the conflict but the start of a broader unraveling for the region with lasting consequences for the global economy as well. Washington and Israel want to knock out Iran with bigger blows but likelihood of that is low. There will be a lot of devastation before there is an end in sight
