VP Harris Whines: The Media Doesn’t Cover ‘Strength of My Leadership’

Vice President Kamala Harris complained this week about poor media coverage — during a friendly interview with a Washington Post columnist — moaning that the press doesn’t focus on what she called “the strength of my leadership.”

“There are things that I’ve done as vice president that fully demonstrate the strength of my leadership as vice president that have not received the kind of coverage that I think Dobbs did receive,” Harris told Jonathan Capehart, referring to the June 24 Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade and returning the question of abortion to the states.

“What you’ve been able to see,” the veep added, is “based on what gets covered.”

In his opinion piece, Capehart argued that contrary to conventional wisdom, Harris, 58, has “had a most excellent year” and cited three supposed “tent poles” of her 2022.

One of those, Capehart said, was Harris’ appearance at the Munich Security Conference in February just prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. What he did not mention was that Harris was roundly mocked for telling reporters at that conference that Europe had enjoyed “peace and security” since the end of World War II. Poll: Majority of Americans Favor Jesus Over Santa on Christmas

A majority of Americans still believe Jesus Christ — not Santa — is the reason for the Christmas season, according to a new poll from Rasmussen Reports.

Out of 1,000 U.S. American adults polled between Dec. 8-12, 57 percent “believe Christmas should be more about Jesus Christ than about Santa Claus.” Only 22 percent put Santa first and 20 percent are undecided.

“Two years ago, 63 percent said Christmas should be more about Jesus. Support for Jesus as the primary reason for the holiday which celebrates his birth has ranged as high as 76 percent in 2012,” according to the poll, which has a ± 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

Ninety-percent of adults celebrate Christmas in their family, an increase from 85 percent two years ago. Out of those Americans, 52 percent celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday, while 37 percent view it as a secular holiday. Eleven percent are unsure.

Billions Sent to Ukraine Could Build Seven 450-Mile Border Walls Along US-Mexico Border

Republicans and Democrats in Congress have authorized more than $110 billion in American taxpayer money to be sent to Ukraine to support the nation’s fight against Russia since the war started. Meanwhile, most of the nearly 2,000-mile United States-Mexico border remains without any barrier.

As part of a year-end $1.7 trillion spending package, 18 Senate Republicans and nine House Republicans voted with Democrats to throw another $45 billion in taxpayer money at Ukraine — bringing the total amount of taxpayer money sent to Ukraine, authorized by Congress, to more than $110 billion.

For comparison, a Breitbart News analysis finds that all Ukraine funds could have built a complete wall along the entirety of the U.S.-Mexico border, multiple times over. (Read more from “Billions Sent to Ukraine Could Build Seven 450-Mile Border Walls Along US-Mexico Border” HERE)

‘God Rest You, Queer and Questioning …’ Altered Lyrics for Iconic Christmas Carol Sung at Church

A U.K. church is raising eyebrows for performing the iconic Christmas carol “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” with altered lyrics that reflect a “woke, unbiblical” ideology. . .

All Saints with Holy Trinity in Loughborough used the updated carol — which removes references to Satan as well as to Christ as Savior — and instead refers to “queer and questioning” “women, who by men have been erased,” MSN reported.

The network added that the altered lyrics were printed in the order of a Monday carol service to feature “new inclusive words for a traditional hymn.”

MSN said the new lyrics read, in part:

God rest you also, women,
who by men have been erased,
Through history ignored and scorned,
defiled and displaced;
Remember that your stories too,
are held within God’s grace.

US Military Personnel Are Lining up on a Waitlist To Hunt an Extremely Dangerous Scorpion in Kuwait

According to Stars and Stripes, some members of the United States military have a new hobby: hunting one of the most dangerous scorpions on earth. And the hobby has become so popular that there is now a waitlist to get in on the scorpion hunts.

The scorpion they are hunting is called Androctonus crassicauda, known as the Arabian fat-tailed scorpion. Although the venom of the scorpion is extremely dangerous, it is generally regarded as aggressive towards humans; rather, members of the military hunt these creatures because they are a danger to the service dogs the military relies upon.

In fact, one of the reasons the hunts began was to encourage the military to provide anti-venom at bases in Kuwait, which the military has been reluctant to do since attacks on humans are so rare, and since the military believes that the population of Arabian fat-tailed scorpions is dwindling in the area.

“Initially we went out to do a population estimate, and then we found that there is a significant number,” Army veterinary technician Spc. Joseph Neitz told Stars and Stripes. Neitz has been organizing the hunts since May. (Read more from “US Military Personnel Are Lining up on a Waitlist To Hunt an Extremely Dangerous Scorpion in Kuwait” HERE)

‘Absurd and Discredited Story’: Trump Bashes Jan. 6 Panel

Former President Donald Trump released video bashing the Jan. 6 “witch hunt,” in one of his first public addresses of the Jan. 6 Committee since the release of its final report.

In the video, Trump derided the committee itself, Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney, President Joe Biden, and the Democratic Party, among others. Trump claimed that the committee was intended to distract from other issues, and that it was deceptively editing information while ignoring evidence favorable to him.

“For two years as inflation skyrocketed, crime soared, the border was erased, Afghanistan was a disaster, and Joe Biden destroyed our country, the American people have been besieged with lies from the partisan witch hunt, known as the unselect committee on January 6,” he began. “The committee cut the part of my speech out where I encouraged protesters to make their voices heard, peacefully and patriotically, but no one ever says that.”

He quickly shifted to bashing Cheney, who has become perhaps the most vocal Trump critic in the Republican Party. He claimed that she, “lost her congressional race in Wyoming by the largest margin ever for a sitting congressperson, that’s 40%.” (Read more from “‘Absurd and Discredited Story’: Trump Bashes Jan. 6 Panel” HERE)

TikTok Will Be Banned on Government Devices

The Chinese-owned social-media app TikTok will be banned on federal-government devices after the omnibus bill takes effect.

National Review recently editorialized in favor of banning the CCP-compromised app from operating in the United States. Earlier this month Republican senator Marco Rubio of Florida and Republican congressman Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin introduced a bill that would do just that[.] (Read more from “TikTok Will Be Banned on Government Devices” HERE)

In England, Praying Outside an Abortion Clinic Can Be a Jailable Offense

Just in time for Christmas, an English woman has been arrested for directing her thoughts to God in public. Isabel Vaughan-Spruce was interrogated, searched, and jailed for praying in silence on a public street in Birmingham, England. Her crime? She is alleged to have violated a local law establishing a so-called “buffer zone” banning prayer, even silent prayer, in the vicinity of an abortion facility.

“Buffer zones” would more appropriately be described as censorship zones. More befitting a totalitarian state, they are an extreme violation of fundamental freedoms.

Isabel’s arrest happened at the same time that a bill is being hotly debated in the Parliament of the United Kingdom that would roll out nationwide censorship zones. Where these zones are already in place, such as in Birmingham, the abuses have been egregious. Their existence indicates a rapidly escalating trend to criminalize the freedoms of expression and religion in the U.K. — essentially, the policing of inner thoughts.

On December 15, Isabel, the director of March for Life U.K., was charged with four counts of failing to comply with Birmingham’s Public Space Protection Order, which came into effect in September of this year. The order is based on the eerily titled Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act of 2014. It prohibits “protesting, namely engaging in any act of approval or disapproval or attempted act of approval or disapproval, with respect to issues related to abortion services, by any means” in a restricted zone encompassing several streets around an abortion facility. And as Isabel’s arrest shows, its definition of “protesting” includes: “graphic, verbal or written means, prayer or counselling.” (Read more from “In England, Praying Outside an Abortion Clinic Can Be a Jailable Offense” HERE)

Biden Issues Dire Warning on Monster Winter Storm Sweeping US

By Fox News. President Biden warned travelers to “leave now” or face canceled plans amid a massive winter storm sweeping the U.S. on Thursday.

Biden confirmed the White House has reached out to at least 26 governors in affected states and is prepared to provide federal assistance. Biden told reporters the storm is “not like a snow day” before entering a meeting with officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Weather Service (NWS).

Blizzard conditions are threatening winter travel plans across the Great Plains and the Midwest. The NWS has warned that conditions could become life-threatening for travelers in many areas if they become stranded in their vehicles.

“I encourage everyone, everyone to please heed the local warnings. We’ve tried to contact 26 governors so far in affected regions,” Biden said.

The storm is expected to create record-low temperatures for Christmas weekend in many areas. (Read more from “Biden Issues Dire Warning on Monster Winter Storm Sweeping US” HERE)

Here’s What’s Driving the Frigid Storm That’s Messing up Holiday Plans Across the US

By The Verge. Frigid temperatures are expected to sting two-thirds of the continental US this week as a powerful storm system races eastward. The timing couldn’t be worse, hitting right before the holidays, when many Americans are planning to travel. Those journeys — and even just being outside in some of the hardest-hit regions — may become treacherous as brutal cold blankets the country. . .

The biggest culprit behind the holiday madness is an extremely cold air mass moving in from the Arctic. That’s ushering in conditions surprisingly similar to the legendary “Great Blizzard of 1978,” experts tell The Verge. Fortunately, forecasters can now issue more accurate warnings much earlier than they could in the ’70s. Hopefully, that’ll give people enough time to prepare and keep themselves safe. This storm system packs a number of punches — from rapidly dropping temperatures to dangerous winds, snow, and ice.

“You won’t see the like of this kind of a storm probably another time in the next 25 or so years,” Jonathan Martin, a professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, tells The Verge. “It’s really intense, and in some locations, the impacts will be extraordinary.”

Why is the US facing a record-breaking cold air mass? Well, the sun set at the North Pole on September 21st. The Arctic is in the dead of its months-long winter darkness. With no sun to warm the air up, Martin explains, “All that the air can do is cool off because it’s a 24-hour-long nighttime. So you can generate exceptionally cold air masses at this time of year.” (Read more from “Here’s What’s Driving the Frigid Storm That’s Messing up Holiday Plans Across the US” HERE)

Environmental Groups Deal Another Blow to Key Alaska Mine, Undermining Biden’s Green Energy Dreams

Two environmentalist nonprofits purchased three conservation easements for $20 million to make lands and waters near Southern Alaska’s Bristol Bay permanently off-limits to economic development, a move that will impede the development of a mine that produces minerals that are needed to manufacture green energy technologies.

The Conservation Fund and the Bristol Bay Heritage Land Trust purchases will put over 44,000 acres of land and water off limits to development, which would prevent Pebble Mine’s operators from building a road that would transport minerals, after the Pedro Bay Corporation, an Alaska Native group, previously voted to let the nonprofits purchase the easements, according to a Thursday press release. Pebble Mine sits on an estimated 80.6 billion pounds of copper deposits and 5.6 billion pounds of molybdenum, highly conductive metals which are crucial to manufacturing solar panels, wind turbines and constructing geothermal energy facilities.

“It’s important to recognize that mining is a valuable economic activity and provides benefits to society that can’t be derived in any other way,” Conservation Fund President Larry Seltzer said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “However, not all projects should be approved, and the Pebble Mine is the wrong mine in the wrong place – up high in the watershed that supports the greatest wild salmon stronghold in the world.”

President Joe Biden wants to generate all of the country’s electricity from solar energy, wind power and other forms of “clean” energy by 2035, up from just 40% in 2020, according to a White House fact sheet. However, the Biden administration has previously worked to block large mining projects in both Minnesota and Arizona, citing environmental concerns.
