Researchers Claim to Have Found Potential ‘Vaccine Against Fentanyl’

Researchers at the University of Houston, Tulane University and Baylor College of Medicine believe they’ve made a breakthrough in the fight against the opioid epidemic: developing a “vaccine against fentanyl.”

In a new study on mice, the scientists administered the vaccine, followed by two booster doses, to rats and later administered fentanyl to the same rats. The fentanyl doses did not penetrate the brains of the vaccinated rats, preventing not only the “high” associated with the substance but also the lethal consequences.

“If the drug does not get into the brain, there are no effects. There are no euphoric effects, and there are no lethal affects as well,” University of Houston Associate Professor Colin Haile, who led the study, said.

Haile said the vaccine is designed for addicts who are consistent users of fentanyl, but could also protect individuals who are inadvertently exposed if it proves effective in further trials, according to ABC 13. Fentanyl has become a lead driver of record-high opioid overdose deaths in the United States, particularly as it is mixed with common recreational drugs like cocaine or heroin. More than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses in the last year, a historic number. (Read more from “Researchers Claim to Have Found Potential ‘Vaccine Against Fentanyl’” HERE)

Zelensky Rejects NATO View That Russia Did Not Fire Missile That Fell in Poland

An emerging NATO consensus about the origin of the missile that struck a village in Poland is wrong, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. . .

That emphatic statement sets up an unusual dispute between Ukraine and two of its most important Western partners. Both President Joe Biden and his Polish counterpart have signaled their growing confidence a Ukrainian anti-air defense missile landed in Poland during an intense Russian bombardment of Ukraine.

“From the information that we and our allies have, it was an S-300 rocket made in the Soviet Union, an old rocket, and there is no evidence that it was launched by the Russian side,” Polish President Andrzej Duda said Wednesday. “It is highly probable that it was fired by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense.”

The course of the dispute has left Western observers “puzzled,” as one senior European official confessed, given the general confidence in both Ukrainian and NATO intelligence capabilities regarding such issues.

“The Ukrainians have very good data collection — they have good radars, they track every single missile,” former U.S. Ambassador Kurt Volker, the State Department’s special envoy for the Ukraine crisis prior to then-President Donald Trump’s first impeachment scandal, told the Washington Examiner. “I’ve been to their headquarters where they do this — [it’s] very sophisticated. They know what’s going on. I’m sure the Poles do as well. I’m sure we do as well. So the Poles and Ukrainians need to sit down with their experts and look at their data … and come up with what they think actually happened.” (Read more from “Zelensky Rejects NATO View That Russia Did Not Fire Missile That Fell in Poland” HERE)

FTX Founder Funneled Millions to Democrat Candidates

Sam Bankman-Fried, the now-bankrupt founder of crypto exchange FTX, is a prolific donor of Democratic candidates and liberal causes, and infused at least $38 million into left-wing groups during the 2022 election cycle.

Bankman-Fried was the second-largest contributor to Democratic-affiliated political action committees (PACs) and organizations, behind only liberal financial magnate George Soros, who donated nearly $127 million during the midterm cycle, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data. However, the collapse of FTX this week has called into question Bankman-Fried’s finances.

A full-fledged liquidity crisis forced FTX to file for bankruptcy on Friday, and Bankman-Fried’s wealth, which was estimated to be $15.6 billion earlier this week, has sharply plummeted, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The index currently estimates Bankman-Fried has no material wealth.

“I’m sorry. That’s the biggest thing,” Bankman-Fried tweeted Thursday morning. “I f—ed up, and should have done better.”

Biden Can’t Even Escape Mockery on TikTok in Hilarious New Trend

Arecent TikTok trend is using a hilarious audio recording of President Biden epically failing to convince Americans he is “mentally focused.” The gaffe comes from a September interview on “60 Minutes” when CBS correspondent Scott Pelley asked Biden about his mental capacity to run the United States. “How would you say your mental focus is?” asked Pelley, to which Biden responded by rambling off a slew of bizarre and incoherent fragments. “Oh it’s focused,” answered Biden with a laugh. “I’d say it’s — I think it’s — I haven’t. Look, I have trouble even mentioning, even saying to myself, my own head, the number of years. I no more think of myself as being as old as I am than fly.”

Social media users seized the audio and have used it for a host of comedic content. One user lip-synced to Biden’s response but changed the words to “mental focus after three kids,” writing in her caption “You could say I have Biden brain.”

These two police officers played the Biden gaffe to explain their deteriorating attention spans due to watching too much TikTok.

FBI Deployed Unconstitutional ‘Zero-Click’ Pegasus Surveillance Software

During the Trump administration, the FBI paid $5 million to an Israeli software company for a license to use its “zero-click” surveillance software called Pegasus. Zero-click refers to software that can download the contents of a target’s computer or mobile device without the need for tricking the target into clicking on it. The FBI operated the software from a warehouse in New Jersey.

Before revealing any of this to the two congressional intelligence committees to which the FBI reports, it experimented with the software. The experiments apparently consisted of testing Pegasus by spying — illegally and unconstitutionally, since no judicially issued search warrant had authorized the use of Pegasus — on unwitting Americans by downloading data from their devices.

When congressional investigators got wind of these experiments, the Senate Intelligence Committee summoned FBI Director Christopher Wray to testify in secret about the acquisition and use of Pegasus, and he did so in December 2021. He told the mostly pliant senators that the FBI purchased Pegasus only “to be able to figure out how bad guys could use it.” Is that even believable?

In follow-up testimony in March 2022, Mr. Wray elaborated that Pegasus was used “as part of our routine responsibilities to evaluate technologies that are out there, not just from a perspective of could they be used someday legally, but also, more important, what are the security concerns raised by those products.” More FBI gibberish.

Last week, dozens of internal FBI memos and court records told a different story — a story that has caused Sen. Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon and a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, to question the veracity of Mr. Wray’s testimony. Mr. Wyden’s healthy skepticism caused the FBI to reluctantly reveal that it had ordered its own version of Pegasus, called Phantom, which the Israelis tailor-made for hacking American mobile devices. Tim Allen’s Christmas Series Gets Lumps of Coal From Scrooge-Like Critics: ‘Saying ‘Merry Christmas to All’ Has Suddenly Become Problematic’ (VIDEO)

Actor Tim Allen has recently reprised his role as the jolly old Christmas elf, Santa Claus, giving his critics plenty to complain about this joyous season.

Because Allen, 69, has openly expressed conservative political views in recent years, left-wing critics everywhere are lamenting that a supposedly “right-wing Santa” will appear on television screens across the country.

Two episodes of Allen’s new Christmas series, “The Santa Clauses,” are currently available for streaming on Disney+. The six-part miniseries is a follow-up to Allen’s 1994 smash hit movie “The Santa Clause” and its sequels, “The Santa Clause 2” and “The Santa Clause 3.” In the original, Allen’s character, Scott Calvin, unwittingly assumes the role of Santa Claus. Now, nearly 30 years later, Calvin realizes that even Santa grows old and cannot live forever. The premise of the series is Calvin’s search for a suitable replacement.

However, many critics either cannot or choose not to separate Allen’s private political opinions from the characters he plays on TV. Many have panned the series, claiming that the “right-wing Santa” has ruined the magic of the series. U.S. Parts Allegedly Found in Iranian Drones Russia Is Using to Pummel Ukraine

The U.S. government is investigating the circumstances behind Western-made parts found in Iranian drones Russia has used to pummel Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in recent weeks, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

Of more than 200 technical components found in remains of shot-down Iranian drones, at least half could be traced to U.S. firms and a third to firms in Japan, the WSJ reported, citing Ukrainian military intelligence verified in a report by Ukraine’s Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NAKO) and viewed by the outlet. Despite U.S. efforts to thwart Russia’s supply of Iranian drones, the Kremlin continues to employ the weapons in highly destructive attacks on civilian targets throughout Ukraine.

“The proliferation of weapons into Ukraine for use against Ukrainian people is a top priority for us, and we’re going to investigate any illegal export that might be connected with that effort,” a senior official from the U.S. Commerce Department, responsible for much of a sanctions regime of historic proportions targeting Iranian weapons exports, told the WSJ.

Ukrainian intelligence estimated that up to three quarters of the parts in Iran’s drones, primarily the Shahed-136 “suicide” drone and the Mohajer-6, were of U.S. origin, according to the WSJ.

U.S. officials involved in export controls either declined to comment or were not able to confirm the origin of drone parts, the WSJ reported. However, industry officials familiar with the matter told the WSJ the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security had initiated a probe into Western-origin parts. Russian Colonel Tied to Mobilization Dies Mysteriously

A high-ranking Russian army colonel with ties to Vladimir Putin’s mobilization efforts for the war in Ukraine died under mysterious circumstances this week.

Col. Vadim Boyko was found dead in his office at Makarov Pacific Higher Naval School on Wednesday, local news reported.

Early media coverage, including a Telegram post by the Far Eastern Gazette, described the incident as a suicide. “[Boyko] came to work and put a bullet in his temple,” the initial post read.

A similar post from BAZA — an outlet with ties to law enforcement — questioned the suicide scenario, noting that witnesses heard five shots coming from Boyko’s office.

“The duty officer, who heard the shooting, ran to the place and saw Boyko’s body — the colonel was dead,” BAZA recounted. “The man did not leave a suicide note. At the place of his death, criminalists found five cartridge cases and four Makarov pistols. (Read more from “Russian Colonel Tied to Mobilization Dies Mysteriously” HERE)

Social Media Platforms Have No Plans to Lift Bans on Trump’s Accounts Despite Third White House Bid

Facebook officials said Wednesday that the social media platform has no plans to reinstate the account of former President Donald Trump, despite announcing his bid earlier this week for a second term in the White House in 2024.

Officials suspended Trump initially for only 24-hours after rioters hijacked the former president’s rally at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Other social media companies, including Youtube, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram, owned by Facebook’s parent company Meta, followed suit and suspended Trump’s accounts almost immediately.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, later placed an indefinite ban on Trump’s account on January 7, saying that “the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great.”

Ivy Choi, a spokeswoman for YouTube, told The Associated Press the video-sharing platform also has no plans to remove the suspension on Trump’s account.

Heidi Beirich, the founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism and a member of the Real Facebook Oversight Board, told The Associated Press that social media companies would be justified to extend such restrictions or permanently ban Trump on their platforms.
