Report: Twitter Facing Mounting Pressure From Shareholders to Take Specific Action Over Potential Buyout

Twitter is facing mounting pressure from its shareholders to not allow Elon Musk’s multibillion dollar offer slip away as the company and Musk were reportedly set to meet on Sunday to talk about his offer.

The news comes as Musk has already stated that he will not go higher than his initial $54.20 bid per share, and he recently disclosed that he has $46.5 billion in financing ready to go to buy out the company.

“A concern that Twitter’s board is weighing is that unless it seeks to negotiate a deal with Musk, many shareholders could back him in a tender offer,” Reuters reported. “While the poison pill would prevent Twitter shareholders from tendering their shares, the company is worried that its negotiating hand would weaken considerably if it was shown to be going against the will of many of its investors.”

The company has reportedly shifted gears in regard to Musk’s offer after he disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing last week that he has the money to back up his offer.

“Twitter had been expected to rebuff the offer, which Mr. Musk made earlier this month without saying how he would pay for it,” The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. “But after he disclosed last week that he now has $46.5 billion in financing, Twitter is taking a fresh look at the offer and is more likely than before to seek to negotiate.” (Read more from “Report: Twitter Facing Mounting Pressure From Shareholders to Take Specific Action Over Potential Buyout” HERE)

Piers Morgan Stands by Claim Trump Walked Off of Interview Despite Audio

Fox Nation host Piers Morgan said Sunday on FNC’s “Media Buzz” that former President Donald Trump did walk out of his interview, which is set to air on his new show “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Monday.

When asked about Trump’s temperament during the exchange, Morgan said, “It was uncomfortable. I’ve never seen him like that. He was very angry. Quite profane, in fact.” . . .

Discussing the audio of the end of the interview released by the Trump team, host Howard Kurtz Kurtz said, “However ticked off the former president may have been, he thanked you, you thanked him. You said ‘great interview.’ It didn’t sound like he was storming off in anger.” (Read more from “Piers Morgan Stands by Claim Trump Walked Off of Interview Despite Audio” HERE)

Nancy Pelosi to Appear in Drag Queen Show (VIDEO)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will appear in drag queen show “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” according to a Paramount+ announcement Friday.

The show premiers on May 20, and follows previous drag competition winners in a “tournament of champions,” The Hill reported Friday. Pelosi appeared in a commercial for the show for only a few seconds where she is seen asking “Can I get an amen?” which is one of the host’s iconic lines.

It won’t be the first appearance for Pelosi on the show. She was also on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2018. “This idea of people believing in themselves, being themselves, taking pride in themselves, is not just a lesson for politicians but for everyone in the country. And that’s why I was so excited and couldn’t resist being on the show,” Pelosi told The Hollywood Reporter after her first appearance.

“You’re an inspiration ― I hope you know ― because you really know your power,” Pelosi told the drag queens on the show, according to Huffington Post. “It’s about taking pride. And that’s what you do ― take pride in yourselves.”

Retired Canadian Lieutenant-General Under Police Investigation for Alleged Sexual Misconduct Is Now in Ukraine

A retired Canadian Forces lieutenant-general under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct is now in Ukraine.

Trevor Cadieu left the Canadian military on April 5, according to the Department of National Defence. He travelled to Ukraine shortly after with the intention to volunteer for that country’s military which is battling a Russian invasion, multiple defence sources confirmed to this newspaper.

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service which is investigating Cadieu originally had difficulty contacting the retired lieutenant-general but has since established communication with him.

Senior Canadian military leaders were briefed about Cadieu’s decision to travel to Ukraine, according to sources. . .

But Cadieu’s alleged victim said she cannot believe that an individual under police investigation was allowed to leave the country. “I find it shocking,” the woman, who asked not to be identified for fear of retribution, said in an interview with this newspaper Thursday. “What is going on here?” (Read more from “Retired Canadian Lieutenant-General Under Police Investigation for Alleged Sexual Misconduct Is Now in Ukraine” HERE)

President of Major European Nation Wins Re-Election

French President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected for a second term Sunday, defeating right-wing challenger Marine Le Pen.

Macron’s re-election designates him as the only French president in 20 years to win a second term. Voter turnout was also the lowest in decades, at around 72%, and only two percent lower than the 2017 election, when Macron beat Le Pen 66% to 34%, Axios reported.

Le Pen has since conceded defeat, but said the results indicated that “winds of change afoot,” and that she would continue to “stand up for the French people,” and against Macron, whose policies she said would “destroy France,” Axios noted.

Le Pen has attempted to rebrand herself and her party in recent years, Axios noted, but Macron insisted that her policies would divide France and make it a more hostile country toward minorities. He cited Le Pen’s plan to ban headscarves for Muslim women, stating that it could “create a civil war” during a Wednesday presidential debate. Macron also hammered Le Pen over her supposed ties to Russia.

Macron’s re-election comes amid grim approval ratings. Morning Consult recorded Macron’s approval rating at just 36%, while 59% disapproved of his performance and five percent remained undecided. (Read more from “President of Major European Nation Wins Re-Election” HERE)

China Develops ‘Brain Control Weapons’ for Future Wars

Last year, the U.S. government learned a variety of Chinese companies were helping develop biotechnology that can potentially alter the brain function of a human being.

That led to 34 entities in China being placed on the Federal Register’s blacklist, since they were a threat to U.S. national security, according to a report in Sofrep.

Among the companies are the Institute of Radiation and Radiation Medicine, the Institute of Basic Medicine, the Institute of Hygiene and Environmental Medicine, the Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, the Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology, the Institute of Medical Equipment, the Institute of Bioengineering, the Field Blood Transfusion Institute, the Institute of Disease Control and Prevention and the Military Veterinary Research Institute.

The report noted: “Other companies such as the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation 52nd Research Institute, Shaanxi Reactor Microelectronics Co. Ltd., and Shanghai AisinoChip Electronics Co., Ltd. were accused of supplying Chinese research institutions and the People’s Liberation Army with U.S.-origin items that were vital with developing these biotechnology weapons. Some items of U.S. origin were also used to support Iran’s missile and weapons programs. Similarly, companies from Turkey, Malaysia, and Georgia were also accused of supplying materials to Iran, which raises a security concern.”

Intelligence officials in America had also disclosed Beijing was pursuing an “intelligentization” of future warfare through such research. (Read more from “China Develops ‘Brain Control Weapons’ for Future Wars” HERE)

Federal Court Orders First ‘Gender-Affirming’ Surgery for Transgender Prisoner

For the first time, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has been ordered to secure “gender-affirming” surgery for a transgender prisoner. The prisoner has previously had their request for the operation denied by the BOP.

NBC News reported Thursday that a federal District Court judge ordered the Bureau to conduct a “nationwide search for a qualified surgeon to perform the surgery for the inmate, Cristina Nichole Iglesias,” who is a male transitioning to live as a woman.

Iglesias’ legal representative, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), provided a statement to NBC regarding the judge’s order this week.

“I am hopeful that I will finally get the care I need to live my life fully as the woman I am,” Iglesias’ statement provided by the ACLU read. “BOP has denied me gender-affirming surgery for years — and keeps raising new excuses and putting new obstacles in my way. I am grateful that the court recognized the urgency of my case and ordered BOP to act.”

A press release from ACLU Illinois said that Chief Judge Nancy Rosenstengel ordered the BOP to compile weekly reports to the court displaying a timeline to ensure Iglesias gets the surgery and recovers before the end of the year. Iglesias’ sentence ends in December 2022. (Read more from “Federal Court Orders First ‘Gender-Affirming’ Surgery for Transgender Prisoner” HERE)

These Tweets Are the Eulogy CNN Plus Deserved and We All Needed; CNN+ Employees React to Streaming Platform’s Chaotic End

After a spectacularly failed run of only 23 days, the streaming service that launched because someone at CNN was convinced Americans wanted to hear more of the likes of Brian Stelter and Chris Wallace has come to an awkward end.

As The Federalist’s own Books Editor Mark Hemingway noted, you don’t have to be happy about ordinary workers losing their jobs to recognize that the higher-ups at CNN and in the rest of the corporate media have been working overtime to deserve the frustration people feel about their propaganda, and to call out the company’s ridiculous lack of self-awareness that led to the demise of CNN Plus. In that vein, here are some of the best reactions on Twitter today to CNN’s latest embarrassment.

Some pointed to CNN’s projections of a “long run of success” for the failed project as yet another example of the network’s lies.

CNN+ Employees React to Streaming Platform’s Chaotic End

By Townhall. The unceremonious death of CNN+ this week put the fledgling steaming platform out of its misery after a period time that didn’t surpass the length of, among other things, Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kris Humphries, has unleashed renewed chaos within CNN.

The “most trusted” name in news has had a rough go of things in recent months, plagued by scandals, a parent company merger that upended the network’s plans, lagging viewership, and a new boss. The launch and quick end to CNN+ has a broader impact than most immediately think of — it’s not just the hosts who lost a platform and who will be fine in the long run, it’s the staff hired as part of CNN’s investment of hundreds of millions of dollars to launch the streaming platform who now bear the brunt of CNN’s incompetence.

According to Axios, “About 350 of the 700 people that work for CNN+ will be laid off with pay and benefits for the next 90 days” and “any employee that doesn’t find a new role with the network will be granted at least six months’ severance.” Reactions within CNN are, predictably, not great.

“This is f***ing crazy, it is nuts,” a CNN insider told The New York Post. Newly out of work CNN+ employees are “aghast and furious” that their leadership could muck things up so badly.

As The Post explains, “Network insiders were horrified to learn that all junior staffers at the streaming service were let go. The roughly 300 staffers were offered six months’ severance as well as first dibs on job opportunities within CNN, according to sources.” Why someone would choose to work at CNN+ in the first place is a head-scratcher, but it seems unlikely that many would want to stick around in another department at CNN given the network’s disastrous handling of its streaming platform. National Guard Soldier Feared Dead Trying to Save Illegal Aliens

A Texas National Guard soldier was feared dead Friday after attempting to rescue illegal migrants from a river along the border of Mexico.

“A Texas Army National Guard Soldier assigned to Operation Lone Star has gone missing along the river during a mission related incident, Friday April 22, 2022 in Eagle Pass, Texas. The Soldier has not been found,” a statement from the department read.

“We are aware of reports of a fatality, although those reports are inaccurate. The Texas Military Department, Texas DPS and Border Patrol are working rapidly to find the Soldier. More details will be released as they become available.”

Sources have told Fox News that a body of a migrant was recovered and that officials are treating the search for the soldier as a drowning — using dive teams in the river. Fox reported that his radio and body armor removed before he went into the water were found nearby.

The guardsman had jumped into the river to save a migrant woman. (Read more from “National Guard Soldier Feared Dead Trying to Save Illegal Alien” HERE)
