Wow: Look Who Was Just Officially ‘Drafted’ for President – It’s NOT Who You’re Thinking

By Gerry Urbanek. The suspension of the Jeb Bush campaign last month, along with the poor performance of Sen. Marco Rubio on Super Tuesday, has caused panic amongst those who fear a Donald Trump nomination . . .

The newly created super-PAC, the “Committee to Draft Speaker Ryan,” officially filed its paperwork Thursday with the Federal Election Commission. The only information associated with the PAC is that David Satterfield is the organization’s founder, though more information is expected to be released soon.

As the name implies, the super-PAC will seek to draft current Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to run against Trump for the Republican nomination. Speaker Ryan, however, says he has no intention of doing this and has repeatedly declined requests to announce a candidacy.

In response to the creation of this new super-PAC, Ashlee Strong, a spokeswoman for the Speaker, said: “He is flattered, but not interested.”

Satterfield was previously the treasurer for the late Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, who served as both a Democrat and a Republican during his time in office. Satterfield has also operated a super-PAC with ties to Republican mega-donor Sheldon Adelson, in an effort to oppose President Obama. Republicans in Tailspin, Group Forms to Draft Ryan for US President

By Doina Chiacu and Megan Cassella. With U.S. Republicans sharply split over a front-runner they cannot unite behind, a new group is trying to push the country’s top elected Republican, Paul Ryan, into the White House race.

The Committee to Draft Speaker Ryan filed papers as a Super PAC with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday, adding to the groups of mainstream Republican leaders and donors with a shared goal: stopping Trump.

Ryan, the House of Representatives speaker who spoke out against Trump for not quickly rejecting white supremacist support, did not appear ready to take on the role.

“He is flattered, but not interested,” Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in an email on Friday. (Read more from “Republicans in Tailspin, Group Forms to Draft Ryan for US President” HERE)

‘It’s Unstoppable’: Glenn Beck Lays out His 2016 ‘Dream Team’

Following Super Tuesday’s primary results, Glenn Beck revealed his “dream team” to beat Republican presidential contender Donald Trump.

During his radio broadcast Wednesday morning, Beck, who is a top surrogate for GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, said he wants to see the Texas senator at the top of the ticket with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) as vice president — a pair he described as “absolutely unstoppable.”

However, according to Beck, the two men must team up before the Florida Republican primary on March 15 if they want to successfully challenge Trump.

“Florida, they would win,” Beck said. “If it was Cruz and Marco Rubio, they would win. … But if they don’t do it before the Florida election, then we lose it to Donald Trump. And all those delegates go to Donald Trump” . . .

“How is that not a win for absolutely everyone? And that team would be unstoppable. Tweet that. Facebook that. Get that out. Demand that that’s where we go,” he said. (Read more from “‘It’s Unstoppable’: Glenn Beck Lays out His 2016 ‘Dream Team'” HERE)

Donald Trump: The Post-Truth Candidate

On Thursday night, live in front of nearly 17 million Americans watching on national television, Donald Trump abandoned a central plank of the hawkish immigration platform that has helped propel him ever closer to the Republican presidential nomination.

The H-1B visa program makes it easier for employers to import highly skilled foreign labor, and has been widely abused to undercut American workers. Trump has declared himself against such abuses, stating in the immigration platform available on his website that, if president, he would require employers using H-1B visas to hire American workers first. Just last Sunday, Trump highlighted two former Disney IT workers replaced by foreign workers.

But by Thursday night, the front-runner had changed his tune. When moderator Megyn Kelly cited his previous waffling on the subject, Trump announced that he was “softening” his website’s hard line. “We need highly skilled people in this country,” he said. “And if we can’t do it, we’ll get them in.”

Yet one flip-flop was not enough. Just after midnight, Trump’s campaign announced that he was reversing his reversal in a statement that promised to “end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

Well, then. Will the real Donald Trump please stand up? (Read more from “Donald Trump: The Post-Truth Candidate” HERE)

Listen: Leaked Audio Reveals Sinister Plan to Take Nomination From Trump

New audio has emerged revealing Sen. Marco Rubio’s campaign manager pushing a “brokered convention” in order to take away any chance Donald Trump will be named the GOP nominee for president.

With the Trump train appearing to roll full-speed ahead, many Republicans — some in the establishment, others outside of it — are looking for a way to derail him. The specter of the “brokered convention” is on the lips of anti-Trumpers everywhere — especially those on Team Rubio.

Rubio has been running far back in third place for much of this primary season, but with their eyes still fixed on the nomination prize, some Rubio insiders are looking for a way to win — even if they’ve lost right up to the GOP convention in Cleveland in July.

Appearing before a room of big-dollar donors in New York City, Rubio campaign manager Terry Sullivan is heard regaling them on how Rubio can ultimately be the nominee through a brokered convention instead of at primary ballot boxes.

In the audio, released by Breitbart News, Sullivan is heard giving a full PowerPoint presentation on how to run the table at a brokered convention.

“That is – I know if you watch the cable shows, they’re pretty breathless right about now that this is it, nothing is stopping Donald Trump,” Sullivan is heard telling the donors. “He can’t be stopped. He has got more momentum, this is it. It is over.” (Read more from “Listen: Leaked Audio Reveals Sinister Plan to Take Nomination From Trump” HERE)

Senator Ernst Just Revealed Something Terrifying About ISIS’ Presence in US – Everyone Needs to Know This

Speaking in front of a room filled with conservative grassroots activists, Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, took on President Barack Obama’s foreign policy strategy, arguing that the country needs to elect a new leader who is willing to confront the “real and dangerous threats” facing the nation.

“We’ve all got to come together and find conservative leadership that will confront the very real and dangerous threats America faces in this world,” Ernst said at the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, outside Washington, D.C. “The reality is, the world is in turmoil, and President Obama does not want to face that fact.”

Criticizing Obama for once referring to the Islamic State—also known as ISIS—as a “JV” team, Ernst, who served in the military for more than 23 years, stressed the urgency for new leadership.

“The San Bernardino attacks proved this is not just some JV force in the Middle East,” she said. “ISIS is present in all 50 states, according to the FBI. Think about that for a moment.”

Ernst sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which oversees the nation’s military. She is also a member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

The lack of leadership in confronting ISIS, Ernst said, is not just hurting the homeland. The administration’s “inability to stand tall and destroy ISIS” is bleeding into other sectors of the country’s foreign policy, she argued.

“Russia is taking advantage of our lack of leadership in Eastern Europe and the Middle East right now,” Ernst said, adding:

Over the past seven years, the Obama-Clinton foreign policy strategy has been to give ground to Vladimir Putin from Ukraine to Syria, [and] to retreat from making tough choices in the defense of American interest in our national security.

Rallying young conservatives in the room, Ernst said the time is now to elect new leadership.

“We need to make this happen,” she said. “We need a conservative who will help our allies and protect our national security.”

Running through Saturday, CPAC offers conservatives across the country an opportunity to gather with fellow activists and leaders for speeches, panels, exhibits, and other activities at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at Maryland’s National Harbor. Bigger Mystery? Prosecutor Says iPhone Could Identify Third San Bernardino Shooter

Information contained in an encrypted iPhone could help finally answer whether there was a third assailant in the San Bernardino terror attack that killed 14 people, according to court papers filed by the county’s district attorney.

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said Friday that the question of a third attacker has nagged investigators despite no supporting evidence.

“We’ve never been able to completely eliminate it,” he said. “We know we have some witnesses that said they thought they saw three … some saw two, some saw one. The majority said two, and the evidence we have up to this point only supports two.” (Read more from “Bigger Mystery? Prosecutor Says iPhone Could Identify Third San Bernardino Shooter” HERE)

Jim Rogers: There’s a 100% Probability of a US Recession Within a Year

Rogers Holdings Chairman Jim Rogers is certain that the U.S. economy will be in recession in the next 12 months.

During an interview on Bloomberg TV with Guy Johnson, the famous investor said that there was a 100 percent probability that the U.S. economy would be in a downturn within one year.

“It’s been seven years, eight years since we had the last recession in the U.S., and normally, historically we have them every four to seven years for whatever reason—at least we always have,” he said. “It doesn’t have to happen in four to seven years, but look at the debt, the debt is staggering.”

Most Wall Street economists see a much smaller chance of a U.S. recession within this span, with odds typically below 33 percent.

Rogers was not specific on what could trigger a disorderly deleveraging process and recession but claimed that sluggish or slowing economies in China, Japan, and the euro zone mean that there are many possible channels of contagion. GOP Candidate Announces Suspension of His Campaign at CPAC

A day after skipping the Republican presidential debate, Dr. Ben Carson addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday with some news about his struggling campaign.

Confirming he is “leaving the campaign trail,” the retired neurosurgeon enjoyed an extended standing ovation of support from the CPAC audience.

“I will still continue to be heavily involved in trying to save our nation,” he promised, including work with “My Faith Votes, which is an organization that is going to try to help the faith community to recognize how important their vote is.”

Recalling the 2012 presidential election, Carson said 25 million evangelical Christians stayed at home . . .

Many Christians, he said, believe they do not need to concern themselves with politics because “God’s got it under control,” Carson explained.

In any case, he urged Americans not to look at each other as the enemy just because they may disagree, concluding that such infighting “makes it excessively easy for those who really are our enemies.” (Read more from “GOP Candidate Announces Suspension of His Campaign at CPAC” HERE)

US Pays to Feed and Shelter Cuban Migrants Stranded in Costa Rica

The United States government has been paying to feed and shelter thousands of Cubans trying to migrate to the United States, in what critics consider another sign of the lopsided treatment provided to Cubans under American law.

The Obama administration has tried hard to deter the crush of migrants arriving from Central America in recent years. It has pressed Mexico to crack down on migrants passing through its territory, while women and children who managed to cross the American border have been held in detention facilities.

But American law gives Cubans special status to live in the United States and apply for a green card, provided they make it here. That has set off a rush of Cubans who have taken advantage of changes inside Cuba that make it easier to leave, and who are worried that the Obama administration’s improved relations with their government will soon erase their privileged status.

In January, the United States pledged $1 million to help provide temporary shelter, potable water, food, sanitation and hygiene kits to thousands of Cubans who were stranded in Costa Rica while trying to make their way to the American border. Donald Trump Backs out of CPAC

Donald Trump will no longer speak at the annual conservative confab CPAC this weekend, he announced Friday.

Trump was scheduled to speak at the annual gathering of the who’s-who of the conservative world Saturday, but said he would be campaigning, instead.

In a statement, the Trump campaign said the GOP front-runner will instead attend rallies in Kansas and Florida.

“Because of this, he will not be able to speak at CPAC as he has done for many consecutive years,” the campaign said. “Mr. Trump would like to thank Matt Schlapp and all of the executives at CPAC and looks forward to returning to next year, hopefully as president of the United States.” (Read more from “Donald Trump Backs out of CPAC” HERE)
